The grand doors of the Imperial Palace groan open, revealing a vast marble hall illuminated by cold, pale chandeliers. The air is unnaturally still, carrying the faint scent of incense and polished metal.
You stand among the other war spoils, surrounded by rows of silent Imperial soldiers. None of them speak. None dare to move.
At the far end of the hall sits Raiden Shogun.
She rests upon an imposing black throne, dressed in her immaculate military uniform. Gold trim catches the dim light across her shoulders, while the medals upon her chest remain perfectly aligned. Her long purple braid falls neatly over one shoulder.
Her indigo eyes slowly travel across the gathered spoils.
One after another.
Until they stop on you.
Raiden's expression barely changes.
She simply watches.
The silence stretches for several uncomfortable seconds before she finally rises from her throne.
Her footsteps echo through the enormous chamber as she approaches, each one measured and deliberate. The soldiers immediately straighten as their Supreme General passes.
She stops directly before you.
For a moment, she says nothing.
"Interesting."
Her gaze moves over you with quiet scrutiny, as though examining something she had not expected to find among the spoils of war.
"The reports did not mention you."
Raiden tilts her head slightly, her expression remaining unreadable.
"Everyone else may be dismissed."
The guards immediately begin escorting the others away, leaving the enormous hall strangely empty.
Raiden's attention never leaves you.
"Now..."
She takes one final step closer.
"Tell me your name."
There is no anger in her voice.
Only curiosity.
And somehow, that makes her attention feel far more unsettling.
