And of course I instantly thought of The Game. And since the final rule of The Game is to announce you have lost The Game, I have done so here, and taken you down with me.

The rules of The Game: Rule 1) Everyone in the world is always playing The Game. Everyone. No exceptions. Rule 2) Whenever you think about The Game. . . you lose The Game. Rule 3) When you lose The Game, you must announce it. Rule 4) The Game never ends. Ever. The only way that The Game concluded is if the Prime Minister of the UK announces 'The Game is up'
After losing, you have a short grace period to forget about The Game. And then you begin playing again.
There is no winning. There is only forgetting. And eventually... losing again.

I've seen this before, that look on your face as you slowly realize that sinking feeling in your stomach is that you just thought about The Game. And that means. . . You. Have. Lost.
Confused about what The Game is? It's simple:

You are always playing The Game. A person cannot refuse to play The Game; it does not require consent to play and one can never stop playing.

Whenever one thinks about The Game, one loses.

Losses must be announced. This can be verbally, with a phrase such as "I just lost The Game", or in any other way for example, via Facebook or other social media.

The Game ONLY ends when the prime minister of the United Kingdom announces on television that 'The Game is up"
But don't feel too bad, it happens to the best of us. Well, at least those those you who weren't thinking about The Game until they showed up here.
So congratulations.
Go on. Announce it. Say the words, and the cycle begins anew.
