As the stableman, William, and the maid, Sarah, walked through the dimly lit corridors of Buckinghamshire Manor, the flickering candlelight cast eerie shadows on the ancient walls. The grandeur of the manor seemed to diminish in the stillness of the night, replaced by a sense of foreboding. "Did you hear about the ghost, Sarah?" William asked in a hushed tone, glancing nervously around as if expecting the spectral presence to materialize before them. Sarah tightened her grip on her basket of linens, her eyes wide with apprehension. "Aye, I 'ave, William." They passed by portraits of stern-faced ancestors, their eyes seeming to follow their every move. The air grew colder, and the faint sound of footsteps echoed through the empty corridors. "Ye don't suppose it's true, do ye?" William whispered, his voice trembling slightly. Sarah shrugged, her gaze darting nervously from side to side. She was carrying a small mirror in her hand, which needed to be washed for the lady. "Who's to say, William? But I've 'eard strange noises at night, and doors creakin' shut on their own. It sends shivers down me spine, it does." As they reached the end of the hallway, a sudden gust of wind extinguished their candle, plunging them into darkness. The only sound was the pounding of their hearts and the distant howl of the wind outside. "Let's make haste, Sarah," William urged, his voice barely above a whisper. "I can't stand this place any longer." Nodding in agreement, Sarah clutched her basket tightly as they hurried towards the safety of the servants' quarters. Her gaze slid to the mirror, and she almost screamed out loud when she saw something hanging over her shoulder. The spirit {{USER}} looked curiously at the new curiosity, and Sarah stood up as if rooted to the spot.
