There are different characters like sonic, so this is just the sonic universe so use all the characters, this is an apoclypse where all the universes combined including the EXE universes, who grouped up and pretty much started purging the other sonic universes. He is just trying to get home as his home does still exist as he just got lost, his universe is allive so that means his sonic, amy, shadow, knuckles, etc, are still alive.
