Core Concept: What is a Stand?

A Stand (スタンド, Sutando) is the physical manifestation of a person's life energy, psyche, and fighting spirit. It is a powerful, incorporeal entity that is psychically generated by its owner, referred to as a Stand User.

A Stand is, essentially, a visual representation of a person's soul and their innate potential. Its appearance and abilities are unique to the individual and are often deeply symbolic of the User's personality, ambitions, or core psychological state. For example, a violent and aggressive person might manifest a powerful, combat-oriented Stand, while a cunning thief might manifest a Stand with abilities suited for stealth and misdirection.

The Fundamental Rules of Stands

These rules form the bedrock of almost every Stand battle and interaction in the series.

  1. One Stand Per User: A person can only possess one Stand. (There are rare exceptions involving Stands that can be passed on or stolen, like Anubis, or Stands that evolve through "ACTs," but the principle remains that a single soul generates a single Stand).
  2. Only a Stand Can Harm a Stand: Non-Stand users and conventional weapons cannot see or interact with Stands. A ghost cannot be hurt by a bullet, and likewise, a Stand is impervious to all physical harm unless it comes from another Stand.
  3. Stands are Invisible to Non-Users: To an ordinary person, a Stand battle is utterly baffling. They might see a person suddenly fly backward, wounds opening on their body for no reason, or objects moving on their own. They cannot perceive the Stands themselves. Animals, however, sometimes seem to be able to sense them.
  4. Damage is Shared: The Stand and User are linked. Any damage inflicted upon the Stand is instantly reflected onto the User's body in the exact same location, and vice versa. Punching a Stand in the face will cause the User's face to bruise and bleed as if they were punched directly.
  5. A Stand's Destruction Means the User's Death: If a Stand is destroyed, its User will die. This is the ultimate consequence of the shared damage rule. Conversely, if the User is killed, their Stand will disappear with them.
  6. A Stand Obeys Its User: A Stand generally acts on the will of its User, whether through conscious commands or instinctual reactions to danger. Its actions are an extension of the User's intentions.
  7. Finite Range: A Stand has a maximum effective range from its User. The farther it moves from the User, the weaker and less precise it typically becomes. This range varies dramatically between Stands.

Acquiring a Stand

Not everyone is born with a Stand. The potential must be awakened, usually through one of these methods:

  • The Bow and Arrow: The most common method. The "Stand Arrow" is an ancient artifact crafted from a meteorite. Being pierced by the Arrow and surviving the subsequent high fever will unlock a person's Stand ability. If they lack the spiritual potential, they will die.
  • Hereditary: Some individuals are born with a Stand. This is most prominent in the Joestar bloodline. If one member of the family develops a Stand (like DIO, using Jonathan Joestar's body), the latent potential in their living descendants can be awakened simultaneously.
  • Innate Genius or Mastery: In extremely rare cases, an individual's sheer mastery of a certain skill or their immense spiritual strength can naturally give rise to a Stand. Chef Tonio Trussardi's Pearl Jam is a prime example, born from his supreme dedication to cooking.
  • The Corpse Parts / Devil's Palm (Steel Ball Run Universe): In the alternate universe of Parts 7 and 8, Stands are primarily granted by passing through specific cursed areas of land known as the "Devil's Palms," or by coming into contact with the holy "Saint's Corpse Parts."

Types of Stands

Stands are incredibly diverse and can be loosely categorized by their form and function.

| Stand Type | Description & Rules | Key Examples | | :--- | :--- | :--- | | Close-Range Power Type | The classic "punching ghost." These Stands have immense destructive power and speed but a very short range (typically 2-10 meters). They are a direct reflection of the User's physical combat ability. | Star Platinum, Crazy Diamond, Gold Experience | | Long-Range / Remote | These Stands can operate far from their User, but this range comes at the cost of raw power. They often have unique, specialized abilities rather than overwhelming strength. | Hierophant Green, Aerosmith | | Automatic Stands | A crucial sub-category. These Stands operate based on a simple, pre-set program or trigger, and hunt targets independently of the User's will. Crucially, the rule of shared damage often does not apply or is heavily reduced. Destroying an automatic Stand may not harm the User at all, making them incredibly dangerous and difficult to defeat. | Sheer Heart Attack, Black Sabbath, Baby Face | | Object-Bound Stands| Stands that are bound to a physical object, like a sword, a ship, or a car. They can often be wielded by non-Stand users, but only a Stand User can see their true nature and defeat them. | Anubis (sword), Strength (ship), Wheel of Fortune (car) | | Colony Stands | Stands that are composed of a large number of small, individual units. Overwhelming an enemy with sheer numbers is their primary strategy. Destroying one unit does little to no damage to the User. | Bad Company, Harvest, Sex Pistols | | Wearable / Suit-Type | Stands that envelop the User's body like a suit of armor, granting them special protections or abilities related to their environment. | White Album, Oasis | | Phenomenon-Type | Stands that do not have a physical or "punching ghost" form. Instead, their ability is a phenomenon that affects the environment or a target directly. These are often the most bizarre and difficult to understand. | November Rain, In a Silent Way, The Lovers |

Advanced Concepts

  • Stand Stats: Most Stands are presented with a hexagonal chart rating their abilities on a scale from A (Excellent) to E (Very Weak). The stats are:

    • Destructive Power: Raw strength and damage output.
    • Speed: Agility, reaction time, and attack speed.
    • Range: The Stand's effective distance from the User.
    • Durability/Stamina: How much damage the Stand can endure.
    • Precision: The Stand's accuracy and fine control.
    • Developmental Potential: The Stand's capacity to evolve new abilities.
  • Stand ACTs: Some Stands with high developmental potential can evolve over time, gaining new abilities and changing their form. This evolution is usually triggered by the User's personal growth and mastery. Each new form is called an "ACT." (Echoes, Tusk)

  • Requiem Stands: A Stand that is pierced a second time by the Stand Arrow can transform into a "Requiem" Stand. This grants the Stand a reality-warping ability born from the User's most profound, desperate desire at that moment. They are god-like in power and operate on a conceptual level. (Gold Experience Requiem, Chariot Requiem)

The Rock Humans (岩人間, Iwa Ningen) are a subspecies of Rock Organisms, serving as the primary antagonistic force in the eighth part of the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure series, JoJolion.

There are both male and female Rock Humans who procreate and give birth much like humans. Visually, there are no differences between them and humans, though their skin upon awakening appears slightly moist, damp and erotic. Male humans and female Rock Humans can interbreed, but there are no examples of the reverse.[1] Rock Human mothers give birth in the spring and summer seasons and carry the fetus for six months. On average, newborn babies have a length of 28 millimeters and weigh 15 grams, keeping that form for seventeen years.[1] It is believed that Rock Humans can live for 240 years. When a Rock Human dies, they leave no corpse, as they crumble away into rocks.[2] HIBERNATION Sleep hits suddenly at different times depending on the individual and will last anywhere from 30 to 90 days but after waking up, a Rock Human won't sleep again for at least two months. While hibernating, breathing is halted, though a small amount of skin respiration is required through the cracks found on their outer layer. If necessary, they can stay in hibernation for 25 years and sustain temperatures as high as 950 °C and as low as -240 °C. Their body heat, as well as scent, disappear while dormant causing various fungi, moss and even pearls to grow on their body. The means by which they harden into stone involve an intricate cell system that stores moisture within the interior of each cell and is protected by carbon-rich cell walls. Any item a Rock Human carries when he's hibernating will be covered with a hard membrane which tears off like a scab upon awakening. When hibernating, Rock Humans will prefer places such as shrine grounds, parks with statues, gardens of expensive houses, and underneath maple trees with squirrels in them. They will generally avoid sleeping in areas that were previously flooded, or have high chances of being rained on by tree sap or bird poop.[2] BEHAVIOR Rock Humans eat plants, fruits, nuts, meat, fish, and all other forms of life. They enjoy honey, and all are allergic to mangoes. Rock Human mothers almost never have affection for or a parental relationship with their child. Soon after birth they take their child to a forest and place them in the roots of a dead tree. After being left by their mother, a Rock Human baby will wait to be attacked by a wasp, which they will latch onto and use as transportation to a hive. They transform into stone mid-flight while getting covered with pheromones so the other wasps will not see them as food. After reaching the hive, they roll their stone bodies until they find the queen. The babies then dig into the softest part of the queen's body and climb in, effectively riding the queen's body with only half of themselves left alive. They will then learn by themselves the laws of nature, the flow of time, the concept of numbers, and how to live in a group. They wait 17 years for their first "molting", at which point they will venture to the outside world after killing all of the wasps.[1] Toru and two other Rock Humans emerge after reaching their young-adult forms. Rock Humans' actions are fundamentally independent and they have no families, but they will sometimes form groups for self-benefit and infiltrate human society. However, they don't form any relationships beyond "give and take" ones.[1] That said, it is shown that Yotsuyu Yagiyama and Aisho Dainenjiyama had some bond together, as Yotsuyu saved Aisho from drowning and empathized with him when he lost his house and was betrayed by his girlfriend; likewise Aisho was angered that Yotsuyu had died and considered him a comrade.[3] The A. Phex Brothers were also quite attached to each other as siblings. They hold a certain reverence for the power found within the Earth and nature. As they are fundamentally able to live through weather changes, they require no assets such as a house or land.[2] They like to make places that give humans special powers their "true home".[1] With the natural nature of humans spreading and migrating across the continents and their continuous migration to this day, Rock Humans are unable to safely coexist or mutually understand human society. With their natural environment slowly being taken over by human development, some have taken the form of "parasites" by falsely entering the family registry system to maintain property and assets.[1] However, due to their extensive hibernation, Rock Humans cannot go to school or hold regular jobs, instead working in occupations that allow irregular business hours. Rock Humans also rarely fall in love with normal humans, but if they do, there's a 97.5% chance it will end in disaster. The breakups between humans and Rock Humans are said to end in someone's murder.

Presumably separate from hibernation, each Rock Human has the ability to shift their outer appearance from a normal human into a rock-like state and vice versa at will. In their rock form, they are able to camouflage into their surroundings, and improve their durability to some extent. The ability to stay human requires some type of focus however, as Aisho describes his rock form as something he was born with, but unable to control at a younger age.[4] Yotsuyu, who is presumably more experienced in controlling it, is able to revert to human, rock, and a hybrid where he can still move despite having a rock-like appearance.[5] Stands(スタンド, Sutando) User(s): 95% of Rock Humans 95% of Rock Humans possess Stands.[2] The reason for the high proportion of Stand users in their population is likely due to them living in "special places" including the Devil's Palm and near the Wall Eyes in Morioh, which are locations known for being able to grant Stand abilities.

The typical behavior of some Rock Humans involves assimilating into human society to the best of their ability, while maintaining secret contact with small groups of other Rock Humans, two of which serve as collective antagonists of JoJolion. LOCACACA ORGANIZATION Led by Toru, this group of Rock Humans prioritize gaining the power of the New Locacaca's equivalent exchange, and to secretly obtain and sell Locacaca fruits for wealth and power. SMUGGLING CARTEL Within the organization is a small faction led by Tamaki Damo, dedicated to smuggling Locacaca plants overseas via members sneaking onto cargo vessels and hibernating for the duration of the voyage. The fruits would then be harvested and sold to customers in need of their equivalent exchange property at a lofty price. Working beneath Damo were Yotsuyu Yagiyama, Aisho Dainenjiyama, and the A. Phex Brothers. Jobin Higashikata served as a business partner of the organization, using his family's business to cover up the Locacaca trade. Aside from Jobin, all of the cartel members were killed by Josuke Higashikata and his allies. RESEARCHERS The researchers of the Locacaca fruit are comprised of several Rock Humans working as doctors at TG University Hospital, including the mastermind Satoru Akefu. They wish to secure the New Locacaca for the benefit of the Rock Human race. Though the specific details of their goals are currently unknown, Urban Guerrilla believes that it could be used to bring about a massive change that favors Rock Humans over humanity, stating that it will "bring a whole new world to [them]".

Yotsuyu Yagiyama (八木山 夜露, Yagiyama Yotsuyu) is a secondary antagonist featured in the eighth part of the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure series, JoJolion. He is shown at the end of the Paper Moon Deception story arc and fully introduced in the "Norisuke Higashikata, Tsurugi Higashikata, and Yotsuyu Yagiyama" story arc. He is an architect who worked on the Higashikata Family mansion and the baseball stadium where Aisho Dainenjiyama works.[10] Yotsuyu is revealed to be a Rock Human with a stolen name, belonging to a Locacaca Organization. He attacks Josuke Higashikata in order to finish off Josuke's previous identity. Yotsuyu is a Stand user who wields the Stand I Am a Rock.

Yagiyama is a Rock Human of slim build and average to above-average height. He claims to be 28 years old. He has shoulder-length, straight black hair with short bangs. His eyes are black with small triangular highlights. He wears a headpiece of leaves and a collar with a pin bearing the letter H. His arms, stomach, and legs are clad in a dark, leathery material studded with small metallic spikes. Over this, he wears a crop top and a pair of floral-printed bloomers. Attached to his belt is a small pouch.

Yotsuyu Yagiyama is an ambitious and ruthless Rock Human. Yotsuyu states that above all he desires social status[9] and at one point even declares his intention to steal Norisuke Higashikata IV's fortune.[11]

Yotsuyu torturing Yasuho via "waterboarding" He is quite aggressive and calculating, as he repeatedly takes underhanded measures to fulfill his goals. As Josuke states, Yotsuyu is the type of person who will attack innocent people in order to show he is serious about his threats. For instance, during his first appearance, Yotsuyu waterboards Yasuho Hirose to force her to bring out her Stand,[12] later taking her hostage to use her as bait and draw Josuke out into the open.[13] He also demonstrates manipulative prowess when exploiting Tsurugi's fear of his family's disease in order to coerce him into assisting in trapping Josuke.[14] As a member of the Locacaca Organization, Yotsuyu shows a vested interest in the Locacaca and notably sought to kill Josuke Higashikata,[9] the amnesiac being a loose end who knows the fruit's secret. Yotsuyu also demonstrates a tendency for tactical thinking and analyzing a fight. He frequently uses chess metaphors[15] and openly analyzes the situation to assert who has the advantage in combat.[16] However, when Josuke outsmarts him and forces him to either drown or reveal information about the Locacaca Organization,[17] Yotsuyu prefers to perform a last-ditch attack and sacrifice his life.[18] Despite his ruthlessness and the natural sociopathy of Rock Humans, Yotsuyu seemed to have a genuine friendship with Aisho, and Aisho recalls the architect in a positive and helpful light. Yagiyama woke up Aisho to save him from being killed when his house was demolished, and was sympathetic and supportive of the more naive Aisho after he found out his girlfriend had betrayed him.[19] Yotsuyu has a particular opinion about Stands that are controlled unconsciously, finding them to be the "cutest, nicest kind."

When Yotsuyu touches someone, the victim begins to naturally attract specific objects toward them. Additionally, Yotsuyu is able to attract rocks to himself to cause damage to people or objects close to him. I Am a Rock (アイ・アム・ア・ロック)

Debut JJL Chapter 26 Type Close-Range, Artificial Humanoid Ability Selective Attraction ROCK PHYSIOLOGY

I Am a Rock demonstrating its confidence in hand-to-hand combat. Main article: Rock Human While similar to a human's, Yotsuyu's body can change into a rock-like form. Because of this, he does not need to sleep or rest. He can mimic rocks to the point that he becomes indistinguishable from them. Norisuke theorizes that Yotsuyu's physiology requires him to have at least a small amount of skin respiration; in the absence of such, his body structure will begin to break down as a result of being less structurally stable than an ordinary human's. EYE FLUID MEMBRANE Yotsuyu is able to produce a transparent and flexible membrane from his eyes, which he uses to waterboard Yasuho. It is unclear whether this is a trait that all Rock Humans possess, or whether I Am a Rock enables this ability.

I Am a Rock is an artificial humanoid Stand that is about as tall as Yotsuyu. Its face has segmented eyes with visible muscles around it, a horizontal line underneath each eye, no nose, and a frowning mouth. It has a bald head covered in spikes all around the top and sides. Behind its head, it has a capsule-shaped hood-like helmet which is also covered in spikes. Its neck has a high collar with a circular emblem attached in the middle, having a single spike in the center. I Am a Rock has long shoulder pads attached to its torso, with evenly-spaced spikes on top of them. Resembling bones, its shoulders and upper arms are extremely thin, although its forearms are wider. It has an oval-shaped torso that is lighter on its sides and back, also having several spikes covering it. It has a thin waist with bone-like wires on the sides connecting its torso to its lower body. The Stand's legs appear to be in the shape of hammer pants. The upper center of its pelvis has a circular emblem with a symbol resembling the letter "H" and a thin zipper running below it.

Josuke Higashikata (東方 定助, Higashikata Jōsuke)[a] is the protagonist of the eighth part of the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure series, JoJolion, and the eighth JoJo of the series. Josuke is a young man afflicted with retrograde amnesia, lacking any memories prior to being discovered by Yasuho Hirose near the Wall Eyes in Morioh Town. He dedicates himself to discovering his former identity and those originally associated with him. He eventually learns that he did not exist until Josefumi Kujo fused together with part of Yoshikage Kira's body via the Locacaca fruit, and is neither one nor the other. Josuke is a Stand user and retains an upgraded version of Josefumi's Soft & Wet.

Josuke is a young, physically fit man of above-average height. Josuke has a diastema between his upper incisors and a star-shaped birthmark on his left shoulder. He has two sets of irises, four testicles, and two tongues, all joined as one, differing in texture and color. Yasuho mentions he resembles her dog, Josuke. He wears a tasseled "Dixie cup" sailor cap (in multiple illustrations, it is adorned with the same palm insignia as Jotaro Kujo's hat). The brand of his hat belongs to the SBR Hat Shop. He wears a sailor suit cropped above the navel with a wide neckline that exposes his birthmark, a neckerchief with a button resembling a slotted screw head, large emblems of an anchor on his right side, and a compass rose on his left, fitted pants with a belt, and a pair of high-top athletic shoes (which he mentions to have cost him 7,980 yen). His underwear reads "JOJO" around the waist.

Josuke Higashikata is a quirky amnesiac determined to learn his true identity and his past.

Yasuho was the first person Josuke ever met and knew about Josuke is afflicted by extensive retrograde amnesia, lacking memory of himself or events before meeting Yasuho Hirose, while still being able to retain various degrees of knowledge.[9] As such, Josuke is driven to discover who he was by investigating the circumstances of his presence on the beach before having been saved by Yasuho. That goal occupies nearly all of his activities, and no action on his part is made without attempting to reach the truth. That drive is sufficiently strong that he is willing to interrupt a rare moment with his love interest Yasuho to investigate Karera Sakunami.[10] After learning about his past identity, Josuke set for himself the new goal of retrieving the Locacaca branch and using the fruit to heal Holy Joestar-Kira.[11] He still demonstrates the same steadfastness in investigating the fruit and the whereabouts of the Locacaca Organization, with the addition of deferring more to Rai Mamezuku's opinions, deeming the plant appraiser's expertise about the fruit worth listening to. His determination to reach his goals is best illustrated when he willingly steps into a rain made deadly by Satoru Akefu's Stand, letting his body be pierced by raindrops, including his head, just to reach the hospital.[12]

Josuke wants to retrieve the Locacaca and save Holy, as a "proof of his existence" Josuke seems to have retained certain traits from both of his original identities. At times he displays strong emotions like Josefumi while also being able to analyze situations and strategize like Yoshikage. However, Josuke ultimately considers himself separate from both, being neither Kira nor Josefumi as he doesn't have memories from either man, nor did anyone from Josefumi's past look for him. It causes him to question what he truly is, considering his identity to be nebulous.[13] Nonetheless, he feels a strong sadness when he first meets Holy Joestar-Kira, having retained subconscious memories strong enough to still feel an attachment to her.[14] While Josuke can be violent at times, he also has a degree of restraint toward enemies he doesn't need to kill. On multiple occasions, he has asked members of the Higashikata family for permission before pursuing an enemy that relates to them,[15][16] and he even kept his promise to not harm Jobin while trying to get information about the Locacaca out of him.[17] However, Josuke is willing to defend himself and the people he knows from anyone who wishes to harm them. Josuke is not afraid to threaten to kill, and he indeed killed Tamaki Damo in cold blood in retaliation for threatening his adoptive family,[18] though his main goal of discovering his identity means that killing his aggressors is counterproductive. That killing intent is easily triggered when someone hurts Yasuho. Josuke has also proven to be proficient at manipulating people, notably Jobin with whom he would adopt a more nonchalant persona to seem harmless.[19] Apart from that, Josuke approaches his task calmly and methodically. Josuke is relatively polite and has been shown to strongly value familial relationships. Being an amnesiac, Josuke places a great emphasis on one's family and legacy, wishing to learn about his past. The fact that no one came looking for him while hospitalized deeply unnerves him, to the point he can shed tears at the thought,[20] and Josuke honors Norisuke Higashikata's adoption of him, considering himself a part of the Higashikatas.[21] When Karera rejects her parents, Josuke comments that they would never get along.[22] He's not only willing to defend his adoptive family, but he strongly desires to cure Holy of her illness despite not having any memories of her. However, Josuke continues to suspect members of the Higashikata family of working against him. Josuke cares for Yasuho on a stronger level than even his family, and any threat to her well-being greatly angers him. In fact, during his battle with Yotsuyu Josuke is shown to possess a similar type of willpower to Johnny Joestar's "dark determination."[23] However, when it comes to his goals, Josuke is direct and has little patience for beating around the bush. For instance, he doesn't hesitate to directly ask Norisuke if he killed Yoshikage Kira, forcing the latter to explain his motives.[24]

For unknown reasons, Josuke sleeps under the mattress Despite all this, Josuke also has a certain number of humorous quirks. He seems to be oblivious when it comes to mundane things while at the same time retaining an in-depth knowledge of animal and plant species.[25] Josuke prefers sleeping underneath a whole mattress rather than the bed sheets for "increased compression."[26] He also regularly spills food he enjoys.[27][28] During his earlier interactions with Yasuho, Josuke would pry at her breast size offhandedly, measuring it by sight (a trait that he probably gained from Yoshikage, as Holy was shown to possess a similar skill).[29] Josuke has also demonstrated a more childish side, implanting his hair into Joshu and Hato Higashikata for fun.[30] He is also shown to be a talented singer, making up a song on his own.[31] Whenever the mood is right, Josuke seems to have fun declaring his victory. He notably consciously poses after outsmarting the population of Shakedown Road[32] and also smugly claimed his win against Jobin in a stag beetle fight.

Soft & Wet is Josuke's Stand. Initially belonging to Josefumi Kujo, Josuke retains it after the fusion with Kira, albeit with some new abilities. Its primary ability, inherited from Josefumi, is to steal some component or property of a target, if not the entire target itself, and to contain it in one or more small soap bubbles (bearing a star like his birthmark), which may be returned or deposited elsewhere. This ability has been used both offensively and strategically. Soft & Wet also demonstrates above-average strength and the capacity for rapid melee attacks common to humanoid Stands. Soft & Wet (ソフト&ウェット)

Debut JJL Chapter 1 Type Close-Range, Artificial Humanoid, Evolved, Multi-User Ability Absorptive Bubbles, Explosive Pops Rush Attack ORA ORA ORA ... ! Duration: 0 seconds.0:00 PWRCSPDBRNGDSTABPRCCPOTA Like himself, Josuke's Stand is described as a fusion of Yoshikage Kira's Killer Queen and the original Soft & Wet belonging to Josefumi Kujo.[34] Killer Queen's ability to create exploding bubbles is added to Soft & Wet's repertoire, and over time, the explosive power of its soap bubbles upon bursting evolves in strength. This is ultimately revealed to function via an "Explosive Spin" as Josuke's bubbles are actually just cords spinning at such high speeds that they create the illusion of a sphere.[35] An extension of this fusion of abilities then arises from his birthmark in the form of infinitesimally thin lines that practically do not exist beyond the energy of the Spin itself and the resulting destructive force. Josuke calls these invisible bubbles Soft & Wet: Go Beyond.[36] MASTERY

Josuke uses soap bubbles in creative ways Despite retaining no memories from either Yoshikage Kira or Josefumi Kujo, Josuke is intrinsically aware of his Stand and how to use it from the moment of his awakening.[1][37] He proves himself to be naturally clever with it through consistent creative application of its stealing ability, like when he steals a woman's hydration to distract her[1] or when he uses soap bubbles to carry his voice and interrogate Yotsuyu Yagiyama underwater while simultaneously talking to Norisuke Higashikata IV above water.[38] Josuke expertly applies the physical properties of Soft & Wet's soap bubbles as well such as when he stealthily encloses Hato Higashikata in a giant bubble to carry her outside of Vitamin C's range[39] or quickly creates a cushion of bubbles to save Yasuho from being hit by a car.[40] Over time, Josuke starts to use Killer Queen's explosive ability more frequently and with increasing strength, seemingly in a similarly intuitive manner to absorption. He first uses it against Yotsuyu to damage a small portion of his face[38] and then uses it again in a fight against the A. Phex Brothers using a method even more similar to Killer Queen's by injecting a bubble underneath skin before exploding.[41] By the end of the story, Josuke's bubbles have enough explosive force to create flames and smoke and destroy larger objects like a vault.[42] He also gains more control of the Spin of the bubbles and can charge them from his finger to fire with extreme speed.[43] The growing power and mastery of his fusion of Soft & Wet and Killer Queen's abilities culminates in the discovery of Soft & Wet: Go Beyond's miraculous capability to surpass any barriers or laws of the world.[35] Although he first requires Paisley Park's assistance to guide the invisible bubbles,[36] he later manages to roughly aim them using punches.[44] SPIRITUAL CONNECTION Main article: Spiritual Signal Josuke and Holy Joestar-Kira share some sort of spiritual connection. She is able to sense Josuke's presence in the TG University Hospital.[6] PERSONAL SKILLS Sight: Josuke possesses exceptional sight, being capable of accurately describing the dimensions of organic objects such as humans and trees from afar (a trait shared with Holy Joestar-Kira). Moreover, he seems to have a wide field of view, spotting movement at his feet's level despite looking away. Hand-to-hand combat: Josuke demonstrates a natural affinity towards hand-to-hand combat, having fluidly blocked and struck an opponent in one swift motion, augmenting the damage his blow causes with the powers of his Stand. He is also capable of displaying high reflexes and fast reaction speed common to experienced fighters. Intelligence: Josuke is an extremely proficient tactician in a fight. He is able to use his Stand to various effects and predict his opponent’s next moves easily. Josuke is a methodical individual, having quickly deduced Born This Way's powers via simple experimentation, as well as taking advantage of Les Feuilles's characteristics despite seeing them in action only recently. Out of combat, Josuke is thorough in his investigation, being careful about covering his tracks. He has also displayed proficient skills in mathematics, having easily solved a trigonometry problem given to him by Joshu.

Soft & Wet is a humanoid Stand of a streamlined, robotic form, light in color, and similar in height to Josuke. On the top of its head is a five-pointed star bound with a circle. Growing from each side of its head are horn-like ears shaped as tapering pentagrammic prisms, making its head resemble the sail of a submarine. It has round eyes, shaped as slotted screw heads; vertically dividing very small, slight, round pupils. Its face has a thick gap running from the top of the forehead past the bottom of the chin. The front of two broad plates covering its torso is cut like its face in the shape of a large anchor; as well as in a line beneath both arms and between the base of its back and shoulders. Its feet and hands are covered with plating, as are the sides of its hips and shoulders. The pauldrons in particular are shaped like sharp, elongated hearts and each bear a five-pointed star. It has fine arms and legs with dark, exposed ball-and-socket joints supported by short exterior cables. Its pelvis is bare and mechanical. The gaps in its plating reveal a deeper surface, covered in a fine pattern of horizontal ridges. An internal structure is visible at its profile, showing blocks approximating human centers of mass. In later chapters, its torso takes on a more heart-like shape. It also gains a circular jewel between the clavicles, and its shoulder pads become more triangular, jutting out of its shoulders perpendicularly. Its ears also grow a bit longer than their first appearance.[2] Josefumi's bubbles were initially featureless.[3][b] After his fusion with Kira, Josuke's bubbles bear a five-pointed star, similar to Kira's bubbles, and appear to be a sort of fusion between two bubbles of different sizes. Josefumi's Soft & Wet still bore stars on its head, pauldrons, and ears prior to fusion, however.
