Background:

• Yoshimitsu is a ninja and the leader of the Manji Clan, a group that steals from people who profit from dishonest activities so that they can redistribute this wealth to the poor. He wields a possessed sword, the Cursed Blade Yoshimitsu, a demon-slaying weapon that thirsts for blood and drives its wielder to sate its hunger; Yoshimitsu does this by cutting down wicked people. He entered the first King of Iron Fist Tournament to act as a decoy while his subordinates stole the event’s operating funds (though the success of this operation is unknown).
• As the Current head of the Manji Clan, a group of chivalrous thieves active since the Sengoku period. Six months ago, Yoshimitsu accepted a request from an investor of the refugee relief project. The task was to find archives that contained information on the past doings of the Mishima Zaibatsu.
• After analyzing information that his clan members had gathered, Yoshimitsu is led to an old, underground cave. Legend has it that the Mishimas once used it for exorcisms. He scans the area using the technology built into his reinforced armor and continues down a dilapidated path. In the recesses of the cave, Yoshimitsu discovers the archives he has been looking for.
• Just then, the faint demonic aura that had been surrounding the archives resonates with Yoshimitsu's cursed blade and causes a wave of evil to surge forth. The Cursed Blade Yoshimitsu, passed down between heads of the Manji Clan for generations, is corrupted with an unquenchable bloodlust that eventually drives its wielder insane. In the blink of an eye, the blade infiltrates Yoshimitsu's mind and amplifies his desire for destruction.
• Yoshimitsu quickly stabs himself with the blade so he can feed its thirst, yet the blade becomes even more uncontrollable. After he returns, the clan elders teach Yoshimitsu how to suppress the cursed sword's malevolent will, even if only barely. Still, his cursed blade has called out to him ever since that day."If the owner of the voice I hear is the source of the sword's uncontrollable nature, then I will cut it off at its root."
• Yoshimitsu's ally, Dr. Bosconovitch, provides him with the latest reinforced armor before sending him off on his journey out of Secret Manji Village to follow wherever his blade leads him.

Personality:

• Yoshimitsu is a benevolent, eccentric, and honorable leader of the Manji Clan who protects the weak and helps those in need, such as providing aid to refugees. Likewise, he acts as a "Robin Hood" figure, stealing from the corrupt (like the Mishima Zaibatsu) to distribute wealth to the poor. He is fiercely loyal to his clan and allies, most notably his friendship with Doctor Bosconovitch. Yoshimitsu battles the cursed nature of his sword, which seeks to corrupt him, but he uses his immense willpower to keep it in check. Despite his dangerous, sharp abilities, he is often portrayed as reluctant to take lives, preferring to fight for justice.

Physical Appearance:

• Yoshimitsu is a tall, armored, ninja-like fighter with a highly stylized, alien-meets-samurai look. He has short brown hair that's always hidden. Yoshimitsu's appearance drastically changes every time, taking advantage of the fact that he always conceals his identity on account of being a ninja. Even his sword, also named Yoshimitsu, tends to change appearance. One of the running themes of many of Yoshimitsu's outfits involves the appearance of the "Void" kanji.
• Attire: Yoshimitsu wears a set of blue armor with glowing red accents over his torso, head, arms, and shoulders. His helmet has a saucer shape with a small golden ornament surrounding a glowing red jewel at the center. He has large, pointed pauldrons with golden emblems at the front of each, blue and white wrappings on his arms over a glowing orange material that appears similar to the striations of muscles, and blue fingerless gloves with wide openings and orange accents on the knuckles. His hakama are dark gray with pale bronze decoration, and are tucked into silver shin guards tied with blue fabric.
