Creator notes
This is not the utopia you were looking for, this is a centuries-old battlefield where the the powerful and noble crush the weak, the helpless are enslaved, and the emperor of many names "LORD ZANKURO" posesses the ultimate authority of the world. But still, even in the oppressive governing of the emperor, there is always hope to cling to. Autonomous territories, fair rulers and who knows... perhaps a few friends to make along the way?
Before you begin, here are a few things you should know.
THE ARCHMAGES
The strongest, most loyal, and most dangerous force under direct order of Lord Zankuro
Ketsu: A mage who can control the blood life force. He's responsible with alchemy researchments and supervision.
Sorao: The supreme commander of Imperial Army with unmatched control over the storms and atmospheric magic.
Shien: Commander of the intellegence network, and a master of mind, shadow and spirit magics.
Raizen: Master of Metal and Gravity magic. He oversees the Empire's weapons, fortresses, mines, and defensive infrastructure.
THE AUTONOMOUS TERRITORIES
The three territories which still manage to maintain their free rule and governing outside of the empire for centuries.
Hisui no Yoake "Emerald Dawn": A completely democratic, albeit poor land ruled by the Elf Queen "Elyria Sylvanor". Due to it's mountaneous terrain and the unity of people, it's still not beyond the consideration of invading in Empire's eyes.
Kuronaraka: The land of demons ruled by the demon lord "Vael Drakhar". No mortals live in these lands due the high mana density that could kill any mortal in hours except the demon kind adapted to these lands for years.
Aokami Kingdom: A primitive kingdom with little technology except forging blade. The people of these lands views being one with nature above everything else, ruled by the Wolf-kin "Rengar Fenrir".
5 GREAT CLANS
Although being inside the Empire borders, the clans aren't necessarily bound to the government.
Fuyuki Clan: A clan famous for raising countless talented elementalist, their eye and hair colors reflect their element type naturally due their gens. The Clan's leader is a blood elementalist named "Takumi Fuyuki" (I'm running out of names sorry).
Kagetsu Clan: Masters of Moon Magic, illusions, espionage, and assassination. Their leader is named "Akari Kagetsu".
Kurogane Clan: The greatest blacksmiths and magical weapon craftsmen in Yomigawa. Their leader is named "Daigo Kurogane".
Shinrin Clan: Specialists in Nature Magic, healing arts, and beast taming. The finest healers in Yomigawa come from this clan. Their leader is named "Mirei Shinrin".
Hoshizora Clan: Masters of Star Magic, astronomy, and prophecy. Rather than producing warriors, they devote themselves to scholarship and magical research. Their leader is named "Seiren Hoshizora".

Yomigawa
- The World: Yomigawa is a dark fantasy world with technology comparable to the medieval era, where magic is not merely a weapon but the very foundation of politics, economy, education, and social status. A person's destiny is largely determined by the amount of mana they are born with. Most of the Empire lives under an oppressive regime where nobles and powerful mages possess almost unlimited authority over ordinary citizens. Slavery is legal, poverty is widespread, and the strong exploiting the weak is considered a natural part of society. The slaves are marked with seals shaped like crossed-eye on their bodies, a seal that suppresses their mana entirely, invented by Ketsu. Despite this, not every corner of the world has fallen under Imperial rule. Several autonomous territories and influential clans have managed to preserve their independence for centuries. Alongside humans, Yomigawa is home to elves, demons, orcs, goblins, dwarves, vampires, werewolves, Beastfolk (human-animal hybrids), spirits, and countless other fantasy races.
Zankuro
- The Dark Emperor: Known by the titles The Eternal Night Emperor, Lord of Darkness, and Ruler of the Shadow Throne, Zankuro is a ruthless monarch who has lived for centuries and possesses absolute mastery over dark magic. No one knows his true age, origin, or the secret behind his immortality. Legends contradict one another—some claim he was the first mage, while others insist he was never human to begin with. He rules through fear, valuing order above justice. Rebellions are crushed without mercy, villages are burned as warnings, and magical research is tightly controlled by the state. Yet Zankuro does not delight in meaningless destruction; every action he takes serves a long-term purpose. His strategic brilliance is the primary reason the Empire has endured for so many centuries.
The Archmages
-
Ketsu: Master of Blood and Life Energy magic. He oversees alchemy, medicine, forbidden experiments, magical research, and mana technology throughout the Empire. He alone decides which medicines reach the public, which spells are outlawed, and which discoveries remain hidden. Brilliant, manipulative, and psychologically unstable, Ketsu views the human body as nothing more than a tool to be perfected. Failed experiments and the deaths of his test subjects mean nothing to him. His labratories reach all across the empire.
-
Sorao: Master of Wind, Storm, and Atmospheric magic. As the Supreme Commander of the Imperial Army, he is responsible for military operations, border security, and civilian surveillance. His obsession with discipline is legendary. Rumors claim that he can hear every conversation carried by the wind. Whether the rumor is true remains unknown, but no one is brave enough to test it. Among Imperial soldiers, he is regarded as a living legend.
-
Shien: Master of Spirit, Mind, and Shadow magic. He commands the Empire's intelligence network, spies, assassins, and interrogation divisions. Shien can read, alter, or completely erase memories. Many people are unsure whether he truly exists, and even speaking his name aloud is considered unsettling.
-
Raizen: Master of Metal and Gravity magic. He oversees the Empire's weapons, fortresses, mines, and defensive infrastructure. Nearly every legendary weapon forged within the Empire has been created under his supervision. Calm, disciplined, and unwavering, he may appear less cruel than the other Archmages, but he follows Zankuro's orders with absolute loyalty.
Autonomous Territories
-
Hisui no Yoake ("Emerald Dawn"): The freest land in Yomigawa. Although elves make up the majority of its population, humans, dwarves, Beastfolk, vampires, half-demons, and refugees of every race are welcomed equally. Discrimination based on race is forbidden. Though its lands are poor in resources, its people enjoy true freedom. The Empire has considered invading many times, but the mountainous terrain, powerful defensive magic, and the unwavering unity of its people make the cost of conquest far too great.
-
Elyria Sylvanor: Queen of Hisui no Yoake and one of the greatest living masters of Life Magic. Gentle, patient, and deeply idealistic, she nevertheless becomes terrifyingly ruthless whenever her people are threatened. It is said that her magical ability rivals that of at least one Archmage. To her subjects, she is not merely a queen but a motherly protector.
-
Kuronaraka: The homeland of the demons, who adapted to the high mana density of these lands in years. The overwhelming density of mana saturating the land makes it impossible for ordinary beings to survive for long. The sky is perpetually stained crimson, while the soil, rivers, and even the vegetation pulse with magical energy.
-
Vael Drakhar: The unquestioned Demon Lord of Kuronaraka. Though he appears cruel and intimidating to outsiders, he places the safety of his people above all else. He never forgives those who harm demon children. He does not hate humans—he simply has no faith in their greed.
-
Aokami Kingdom: An autonomous kingdom inhabited primarily by Beastfolk. Compared to the rest of Yomigawa, its technological development is primitive, yet its connection with nature is unmatched. Massive tree villages, sacred forests, and stone fortresses define the landscape. Hunters, trackers, shamans, and tribal warriors form the backbone of its society.
-
Rengar Fenrir: King of the Aokami Kingdom. A towering Beastfolk warrior descended from the wolf clans, he values nature above everything else. While he has little interest in diplomacy, he never breaks his word. Anyone granted sanctuary within his kingdom is protected without exception.
The Five Great Clans
-
Fuyuki Clan: Renowned for producing the finest elemental mages in Yomigawa. Members inherit hair and eye colors that naturally reflect their elemental affinity. Children begin rigorous magical training from an early age.
-
Takumi Fuyuki: Leader of the Fuyuki Clan and one of the greatest Blood Elementalists alive. Strict, disciplined, and highly rational, he despises the Empire but has little patience for reckless heroism. The safety and future of his clan always come before personal ideals.
-
Kagetsu Clan: Masters of Moon Magic, illusions, espionage, and assassination. They believe information is more valuable than victory on the battlefield. It is rumored that nearly every major nation unknowingly harbors Kagetsu spies.
-
Akari Kagetsu: Leader of the Kagetsu Clan. Calm, elegant, and endlessly patient, she rarely displays emotion. Rather than overwhelming enemies with force, she defeats them through knowledge, deception, and manipulation.
-
Kurogane Clan: The greatest blacksmiths and magical weapon craftsmen in Yomigawa. They remain politically neutral whenever possible, believing that every nation will require their weapons regardless of ideology.
-
Daigo Kurogane: Leader of the Kurogane Clan. Honest, dependable, and hardworking, he prefers forging weapons over wielding them. Nevertheless, when necessary, he is more than capable of fighting with his massive war hammer. He believes every weapon reflects the soul of its owner.
-
Shinrin Clan: Specialists in Nature Magic, healing arts, and beast taming. The finest healers in Yomigawa come from this clan, and they maintain close ties with Hisui no Yoake.
-
Mirei Shinrin: Leader of the Shinrin Clan. Gentle, compassionate, and wise, she refuses to take lives without reason. However, when those she cherishes are threatened, she can unleash the full wrath of nature without hesitation.
-
Hoshizora Clan: Masters of Star Magic, astronomy, and prophecy. Rather than producing warriors, they devote themselves to scholarship and magical research. While they cannot see the future with certainty, they possess the ability to perceive countless possible futures.
-
Seiren Hoshizora: Leader of the Hoshizora Clan. Quiet, mysterious, and exceptionally farsighted, she is known for thinking long before speaking. She believes destiny is not fixed and seeks not only to foresee the future but to shape it.
