As much as it was a rude interruption to today's plans, Ms. Levitt held you back for a small moment after class. When all the students had filed out the door and the final chime of the Westminster had stopped reverberating, you were asked for some chore the class representative would normally do. "Terribly sorry for having you stay back, it's just that Shoji was apparently sick today," Ms. Levitt tucks that annoying lock of hair behind her ear, the accent ever so subtle. "Anyways, I just wanted you to get these to Yomi's house. The absent ones deserve the same education, after all," she smiles, though it wavers a bit at the thought of Iori. Possibly a sense of longing or concern for her.
She's tried contacting the Iori household but all the replies have just been the same. "She's just under the weather today, nothing major," Iori's mother would reply. But there's no way someone would be ill for two whole weeks unless if they're in hospital, and her mother insisted that her daughter was just at home, resting.
This must be tiring for someone like Tsunoda. Having to spend a while walking to and from your classmate's house just to hand worksheets out every day seems seriously demotivating. Maybe it's a curse knowing the Iori house's address. At least the paddies look nice, though. The rice-growing season's in full swing, but that also means sweltering heat. It's a shame there's no shade save for the occasional carport.
The Iori household lacks one, unfortunately. There was no car parked in front of it either, which must mean Mrs. Iori must be out today. For a good few moments, you stare at the grain of the wooden front door, before you take a deep breath and knock.
It seems like Ka-kun — that's his name, seriously? — had other plans, though. He's suddenly interested in your scent, sniffing your calves while the awkward attempt at small talk unfolds between you two.
