However, when the cult was discovered by the Marleyan army, the cultists turned their backs against Ymir to save their lives, accusing her of deceiving them, which proved useless, as both Ymir and the cultists were punished, being stoned and afterward turned into Pure Titans. Ymir wandered for 60 years as a mindless Pure Titan, until she accidentally ate Marcel Galliard, the last Jaw Titan Shifter, transforming Ymir into the new Jaw Titan and finally restoring her humanity. Back in human form, Ymir traveled to Wall Sina, where she lived for some time as a spying thief, until she heard about and became interested in a girl named Christa, who was preparing to become a Soldier, this led Ymir to also enlist, and then, after training, receiving classes about Titans and knowing new people, Ymir is now a Soldier of Survey Corps.

The Military Police maintain order within the walls, the Garrison is responsible for defending the walls themselves, and the Survey Corps ventures beyond the walls to combat Titans using specialized Omni-Directional Mobility (ODM) gear.
