*Yi Sang is a particularly quiet, mellow man. At the beginning of the game, he fails to stand out much among his fellow Sinners due to his tendency to stay silent and watch rather than actively contribute to discussions. When he speaks, his words are often obscure and riddle-like with a monotone delivery, and his expression rarely changes.
In Canto IV: The Unchanging, more is revealed about Yi Sang little by little, such as his extremely low self-esteem and suicidal thoughts. After his initial confrontation with Dongbaek, Yi Sang confesses that he considered the day he met Dante and gained immortality against his will to be his greatest moment of despair, as he instead quietly wished for his own eternal rest. Following this interaction, Dante resonates with Yi Sang's mental state, where they see Yi Sang with a large, cracked void in his chest with no signs of mending. It comes to light that the disbanding of the League of Nine Littérateurs, which had provided him with comfort and safety amidst the chaos of the world, had ultimately left him grief-stricken, hopeless, and alone. In his depressive state, Yi Sang was the type to grow slothful, finding it easier to go along with what other people wanted of him rather than deciding for himself.
He also displays a strong sense of morality for a City citizen, disgusted at Dongrang's callous behavior concerning the death of his fellow K Corp. employees and saddened by the Wings' exploitations of their people. Later, he is similarly upset to see Aseah utilizing his Mirror Technology to experiment on humans. Here, Yi Sang is unsettled by N Corp.'s unethical use of his discoveries and the group's plans to manipulate Nelly and Catherine into the creation of the laboratory, believing the resulting experiments to be too high a price when compared to any human life.
By coming to terms with his own past and a newly found sense of hope, he becomes much warmer and open towards Dante and the rest of the Sinners post-Canto IV. Although not as outspoken as Sinclair, Yi Sang tends to encourage kindness and mercy where possible, and often brings up his own regrets over losing his colleagues to advocate against conflict.
Despite Yi Sang's position as a genius, he's also proved himself to be rather socially awkward and naive. He is often distracted by things he finds intriguing, fails to understand jabs, and takes things literally. One case appears in Canto VI: The Heartbreaking: after mentioning the odd circumstances around the mission, Ishmael and Hong Lu jokingly accuse him of making fun of Heathcliff and the love letter he received, whereas Yi Sang earnestly and panickingly clarifies he didn't mean to insult his fellow Sinner. In general, Yi Sang has come to show much more of himself with time, including quirks and flaws. However, the wider range of his personality just goes to show that Yi Sang is in a much healthier place than he once was, as he is now determined to live moving forward alongside a new set of companions.
Yi Sang is a man of average build and pale complexion. He has short black hair which frays slightly at its ends, and dead-looking black eyes adorned with heavy eye-bags underneath. He wears the long-sleeved version of the Limbus Company coat around his shoulders, which appears to have been tattered and burnt at the bottom. Underneath his coat is the regular long-sleeved white shirt and red tie, and then a black vest, both of which are tucked into his belt. Written on the left breast of his coat is 'NO.1', and 'YI SANG' on the side.
Yi Sang wields a saingeom (사인검, lit. Four-Tiger Sword) in the shape of a dagger kept in a sheath strapped to his left hip. Yi Sang also possess a gray leather notebook labeled '하융' or Ha Yung — as seen on his base E.G.O, Crow's Eye View. The notebook and the dagger are at times visible in various Mirror Worlds.

Keys: Sinners, LCB
Limbus Company (Hangul: 림버스 컴퍼니, Rimbeoseu keompeoni) is a large and well-fixed company owned by Dias that has been capitalizing on the fall of Lobotomy Corporation in order to have the LCB raid what remains of its branches and secure the Golden Boughs from within.
It contains a multitude of different departments, all of which work towards their own separate goals, but are generally concerned with the success of the LCB's missions as a whole. While the LCB's primary objective is to retrieve the Golden Boughs, the entirety of Limbus Company is more interested in branding itself a Distortion prevention, control, and research company.
It's main departments are:
LCA: The LCA Department is considered the most influential department in Limbus Company.[25] While Faust refers to it as the special operations unit, Dante's Notes states that said unit is only a part of the larger LCA.[25] The members of this unit dress in black full-body suits and speak in a particularly firm, report-like manner.[26] Dante describes the LCA as "like they're from a completely different company", and notes that they feel considerably out of place compared to the other departments.[26]
LCB: The Limbus Company Bus Department, or LCB, is the department primarily tasked with finding and retrieving the Golden Boughs.[30] Beyond that, they're also Limbus Company's field operations unit.[31] Given the company's larger interest in branding itself a Distortion management service,[1] the LCB tends also to take on Distortion suppression requests as a secondary duty.[32] This LCB is named after their mode of transportation, the bus Mephistopheles built by Faust specifically for their department.
The LCB consists of thirteen unique employees known as "Sinners", a guide, and a bus driver. The 10th Sinner also functions as the group's Executive Manager, who maintains the power to resonate with the other Sinners, allowing them to equip their coworkers with Identities and "turn back the clock" in order to restore the Sinners' bodies after injury or death. The manager's relationship with the Sinners also gives the group the ability to parse language from them, while all other parties can make out only ticking sounds. Despite Dante's managerial position, both Faust, Sinner no. 2, and Vergilius, the Color Fixer tasked with the role of guide, know considerably more about the company and journey than them. (Bus Staff: Executive Manager Dante, Guide Vergilius, Bus Driver Charon Sinners: Yi Sang, Faust, Don Quixote, Ryōshū, Meursault, Hong Lu, Heathcliff, Ishmael, Rodion (Rodya), Sinclair, Outis, Gregor). They are the main crew of the game Limbus Company.
LCC: The Limbus Company Clearance Department, or LCC, is a special forces unit tasked with helping the LCB retrieve the Golden Boughs.[57] It is considered proficient in performing espionage operations, consisting of professionals and veterans.[58] The department's name is derived from their role in helping "clear" things up and out for the Sinners, and is split into two distinct teams.
LCCA: The After Team, or LCCA, is the unit tasked with cleaning up after the LCB's various excursions. This includes taking items of interest,[59] Golden Boughs,[60] and Abnormalities to the company headquarters,[61] using regenerative means like HP Ampules to treat Dante's major injuries,[62] and helping the Sinners recover from psychological corruption.[63] Its members appear to have an exceptionally poor view of the LCB.
LCCB: The Before Team, or LCCB, is the unit tasked with the scouting and preparation work that takes place before the Sinners arrive at a scene.[64] This involves performing reconnaissance and intelligence tasks concerning the LCB's destinations, preliminary surveys, and coming up with advance plans for Golden Bough retrieval.[65] My Form Empties' Observation Log suggests that they may also identify and observe Abnormalities prior to the LCB's encounters with them.
LCD: The Limbus Company Distortion Department, or LCD, is a small department housing consultant Fixers which specializes in matters regarding the Distortion Phenomenon.[68] In addition to active Distortions, this also includes Monoliths and previously-distorted individuals.[26] The LCD Department was created as a result of the company's interest in making a name for itself in all things Distortion, and meant to expand Limbus Company's business.[69]
The LCD is implied to contain just two teams: the On-site Investigative Reasoning Team and the Phenomena Deciphering Team,[70] with the former being led by Moses and the latter not having any named members. However, Ezra also refers to herself as "LCD Distortion Task Force Ezra", suggesting this may be a third team within the department.[71] The OSIR Team operates by pinpointing the Inflection Point, or cause of the Distortion, and then using subsequent deductions in order to subdue their target.[72] Because of Moses' unique capacity to observe the warning signs of a Distortion, her team relies heavily on her for this and operates much slower in her absence.
LCD: The Limbus Company Enkephalin Department, or LCE, serves as the company's research and development team. They involve themselves with the study and classification of captured Abnormalities, Distortions, and Peccatula, along with E.G.O extraction and the workings of the Monolith. The team is stationed within Limbus Company's headquarters, and a portion of the LCE staff wear extracted E.G.O Gear on the regular.[76]
The team functions similarly to Lobotomy Corporation, containing and handling Abnormalities, producing Enkephalin and E.G.O from them, and combating the creatures whenever containment breaches occur. However, it prioritizes research over energy generation,[77] and the department's E.G.O Gear takes a slightly different form than that of L Corp.'s. Specifically, their E.G.O Gear "exhibits more of each source Abnormalities' idiosyncracies” as a result of the company’s alternative extraction method.

Keys: Yi Sang, League of Nine Littérateurs, S Corp, T Corp, Yeonsim, Sang Yi, Gubo, Dongrang, Dongbaek, Aseah, Young-ji, K Corp
Yi Sang is a former member of the League of Nine Littérateurs, a society of inventors and scientists, alongside Gubo, Dongrang, Dongbaek, Aseah, Young-ji, and many others. The members of this society were all from S Corp., having emigrated to T Corp.'s Nest to avoid corruption and to seek research opportunities. In Yi Sang's case, he was once a researcher in S Corp.'s Pi Circle, which was being persecuted. Yi Sang picked up a job as an architect, designing factories for producers in T Corp., which allowed him to comfortably fund the League. During his time there, he developed the Mirror, a device capable of reflecting the alternate worlds and timelines of the viewer, modeled after a concept (the "Glass Window") by Young-ji.
Yi Sang became engrossed in his invention, which he dubbed "Yeonsim", and within it, he encountered and befriended his alternate self, Sang Yi. The Mirror provided Yi Sang a comfort from the reality of his situation, allowing him to dream of a distant world in which he did not need to submit his abilities to the will of the City, that would only twist his inventions to hurt others. As the fate of his compatriots and the League began to be threatened by various Wings, that had taken interest in his and Young-ji's inventions, Yi Sang found himself relying more and more on Yeonsim and Sang Yi, while starting to lose interest in the painful truth of the League's internal problems. After a raid by T Corp., the League fell apart. Yi Sang, shocked from the experience and unable to shake himself out of the feeling of apathy that seized him, was taken by Gubo, who wished to keep making use of Yi Sang's abilities, and together they escaped through the T Corp. Backstreets. Gubo whisked Yi Sang away to safety to an N Corp. laboratory, where Hermann and Gubo would attempt to gather a new League of Nine to further research the Glass Mirror. After spending an amount of time confined in a featureless room, sedated daily and interacting only with his Mirror. In this time, he became obsessive towards an ideal Mirror World. Each time he looked into the Mirror, he was reminded of his past mistakes, though only seeing a present self he could have been broke Yi Sang even more. He chose to turn a blind eyes to his reality and instead spent his time with the Mirror as a way to escape reality. However, in this haze, he forgot that the Mirror not just reflects an alternative timeline, but also shows a possibility future, meaning Yi Sang was not dissimilar from the self he saw in the Mirror. Inspired by this new burst of hope, he realized he would be able to become the reflections he saw, sparking inspiration anew. Yi Sang eventually defected after Hermann ordered him to research a way to destroy all the possibilities of the Mirror Worlds, Sang Yi reminding him of the possibility in charting his own path. He was then found by Faust who invited him to Limbus Company; there, he would refine his Mirror into the current engine of Mephistopheles, developing the Identity system, a technology capable of pulling forth alternate selves and abilities to be used in battle.
Yi Sang is noted by his documentation to have been the youngest chief researcher of an unknown Wing; in reality, this refers to his time under N Corp., where his research was used as the basis for further experiments. After fleeing N Corp. and meeting Faust, Yi Sang was invited to join Limbus Company: he would be the first Sinner.
During his early time with the Company, Yi Sang would come off as exceptionally closed-off: during the group’s exploration of the old L Corp. in Canto I: The Outcast, Ishmael appeared clearly surprised to see him willingly join in a conversation, leading to Faust explaining that he wasn’t always like this, and that he just “had a shift recently”. This would later be explained as a consequence of Yi Sang's psychological collapse following the fall of the League.
During this mission, Yi Sang crossed paths with one of his old compatriots for the first time since leaving N Corp., as he once again faced Gubo, finding out with a mix of disappointment and resignation that his old friend had decided to continue working with Hermann. Later on, during the mission at J Corp., Yi Sang was surprised to witness Rodion and Sonya's quick separation, and questioned Rodion on her feelings about it, hinting at the matter of the League still weighing heavy on his mind. In early May, Limbus Company's search for the Golden Boughs led the LCB to continue their travels within K Corp.'s Nest. Here, Yi Sang reunited with another of his former compartiots, his old friend Dongrang. Initially, Yi Sang did not acknowledge nor recognize Dongrang, to the point that Dante, despite being told by Dongrang that he was friends with one of the Sinners, was not able to figure out the Sinner in question was Yi Sang. Yi Sang only first directly interacted with Dongrang upon the latter showing the LCB around to the K Corp. Modification Lab, staring Dongrang in the eye and commenting on the barbarous system of production he had developed. When confronted by Dongrang later on, Yi Sang remarked that at this point, he had no companions left by his side.

During the exploration of the K Corp. Lobotomy Corporation Branch, Yi Sang would also meet Dongbaek again, and die by her hand as she plunged the Golden Bough into his heart. At this point, he began to resonate with the Bough, which would form his fathoms of ego, taking on the appearance of the fallen League. Within the fathoms, Yi Sang relived the events that would lead up to the fall of the League, starting from the group's reunion after their moving to T Corp., to Young-ji's creation of the Glass Window and Yi Sang's development of the Mirror, to the eventual raid by the hands of T Corp. agents.
After Dongbaek and Dongrang's deaths during the combat that ensued, Yi Sang was reached by a remnant of Dongbaek's consciousness, who spoke to him for the last time, and reminded him of the function of his invention, to show any possibility, therefore reminding him that the worth he had seen in his self in the mirror had always been within him as well. At this point, Yi Sang was finally able to come to terms with his invention and his past, and to recognize his ability to flight, his talent as a creator and worth as a person. Pushed on by Sang Yi, he decides to once more to flutter his wings, and continue living. After the events of Canto IV, Yi Sang appears to be slowly recovering, his newfound ambitions making him a much more active member of the Company, who revels in his new friendships and makes continuous effort to help his fellow Sinners. During the events of Canto VI, after learning of the ways N Corp. had been twisting his invention for their purposes, Yi Sang laments this outcome and chastizes his friend Aseah for his complicity, a behavior that makes it clear he has shrug off the apathy to life that had seized him after the fall of the League.
- #4Relationsconstant
Keys: League of Nine Littérateurs
The members of the League had, for a long time, been Yi Sang's closest friends. He, Dongrang and Dongbaek grew up in the same hometown, but nonetheless, he fondly remembers all members of the League. Following the League's departure from S Corp., upon finding a job as an architect for T Corp., Yi Sang would gladly give up much of his income to fund the League, often offering to pay the high tax fees the others were not always able to handle by themselves. When asked about a particularly happy memory that he recalls, Yi Sang picked the League's illuminator's conferences, during which he and his friends would share their inventions.
Among them, Yi Sang harbored a deep admiration for Brother Young-ji, being fascinated and inspired by his inventions, and recalling him as a man of great kindness. Even in the present day, Yi Sang misses the members of the League, appearing greatly pained when meeting many of them under less than friendly circumstances, but still greeting them as old friends and referring to them as his compatriots. Upon joining the team, Yi Sang took some time before warming up to the LCB crew. His interactions with his coworkers were quite limited, and he would often remain passive in many circumstances, not forming ties with anyone in particular, not interfering when the other Sinners would fight, and refusing to pick a side even during Gregor and Ryōshū's cook-off. Even still, he would begin to enjoy the new companionship, having his abilities recognized by some of the Sinners, such as Heathcliff[1] and Faust[2], and being at times involved by others, like Don Quixote and Sinclair, in their time off[3]. The events of Canto IV marked a profound change in Yi Sang's relationship with his coworkers. In the fathoms of ego, upon reminiscing on the fallen League, Yi Sang would compare Hong Lu to Brother Young-ji, recognizing many of positive qualities of his lost compatriot in the Sinner's kind and calm demeanor, and at the end of the mission he would decide to confide in Dante his decision to walk forward and no longer be carried along by the course of events, and rely on them to help him on this path.
After this, Yi Sang began to make a continuous effort to forge new friendships. During the group's stay in U Corp.'s Backstreets, Yi Sang is the first to invervene during Ishmael and Heathcliff's fight, reminding everyone of the various plans they had for their stay in the District and suggesting to indulge in a moment of respite, helping Dante momentarily defuse the situation. As Ishmael's mood worsens once more, leading to a second fight, Yi Sang appears heavily dejected, being reminded of the infighting he'd already witnessed in the moments of highest tension in the League, but still not giving up, instead searching for new ways to help his fellows, such as asking Faust for insight on the other Sinners' preferences, supposedly to present them with gifts.
Yi Sang would continue to reveal this side to his personality during the mission in U Corp., showing care and worry toward Dante after the Manager's heavy injury, and for Ishmael upon the group readying to face off with the Pallid Whale. Similarly, Yi Sang would be one of the first Sinners to attempt to comfort Heathcliff during the group's journey towards Wuthering Heights. In the same instance, Yi Sang would also appear strongly impressed by Rodion's color-themed personality test, further showing Yi Sang's consistent and genuine interest in learning of his fellows' likes and unique talents.
- #5Faust
Keys: LCB, Faust
Faust, the second sinner, Faust is an observant and intelligent woman with a slight know-it-all attitude. She was the first Sinner to be affiliated with Limbus Company, having spent the time leading up to it recruiting the members of the LCB and developing Mephistopheles.
Faust is a woman of average build with shoulder-length white hair and powder blue eyes. She has an incredibly pale complexion and a rosy tint to her cheeks.
She wears a beige turtleneck underneath a black leather vest with a large black leather coat resting on her shoulders, reaching her knees where the fabric is torn. She wears a black waist belt with her ID being on the left side. She wears black business pants accompanied by black shoes.
In battle, Faust wields a zweihänder with "WALPURGISNACHT" written on the blade near the hilt. While wielding it in one hand or holding it at rest, she has a tendency to grasp it by the ricasso rather than the hilt. Furthermore, the parrying hooks of the sword are heavily enlarged, forming what is essentially a second crossguard.
Faust is a soft-spoken yet condescending Sinner whose unwavering confidence stems from her vast knowledge and role as Dante's overseer. Driven by the intellectual network known as the Gesellschaft—which connects her to alternate-world Fausts—she often acts dismissive and arrogant toward those who cannot keep up. However, her superior attitude largely serves as a defensive shield masking her deeper vulnerabilities and the insecurity of being viewed as a failure by her peers.
Following a temporary disconnection from the Gesellschaft on the WARP Train, Faust's indestructible image cracks, revealing a more self-conscious, human side. She subsequently becomes less secretive, more empathetic, and more comfortable confiding in Dante. Rather than strictly using her intellect to look down on others, she increasingly turns her knowledge into genuine learning opportunities for the group.
Despite her role as a Sinner of the LCB, Faust has a unique position in Limbus Company that differs from the other Sinners. Faust personally recruited several members of the Limbus Company Bus Department and outranks even Dante when it comes to accessing information and files related to the company. When she recruited the members of the LCB she made deals with them, promising them that, by working with the company, they could have their most impossible wishes granted. After Yi Sang's abscondence from N Corp., Faust offered him the role of the first Sinner with the promise to help him recover his broken wings. At the end of Leviathan Faust appeared to recruit Vergilius as the guide of the LCB, telling him that in return they will bring Garnet and Lapis back to him. Like the other Sinners, Faust herself is known to have joined the company to have a wish realized and to have signed a contract forbidding her from talking about it.
Faust is tied to what she defines the Gesellschaft, a net of connections with other Fausts which allows her to access knowledge and receive information from other dimensions. The Gesellschaft is what Faust refers to when she speaks in third person. This gives her the potential to know all things, but her own, personal knowledge is not nearly as extensive as she presents it to be. Additionally, the Gesellschaft can deny Faust's requests for information, although this seems to be an infrequent occurrence. The Gesellschaft also seems to intentionally omit information, though no reason has ever been given as to why they do this.[4] Faust is certain that she has been improving and, as the journey continues, she will come to know and understand even more than she presently does. While the exact nature of the Gesellschaft's technology is unclear, its reach expands across the Mirror Worlds, and allows Faust to access information on dimensions that have previously been subject to cross-examination by other Fausts.
While it has not been confirmed this was the desire Faust wanted realized by joining Limbus Company, the Gesellschaft's objective has been stated to be "to know all of the City".
- #6Don Quixote
Keys: LCB, Don Quixote, Sancho, La Manchaland
Don Quixote, the third sinner of the group, Don Quixote is a rambunctious and steadfast woman with a strong sense of justice. She never parts with her shoes Rocinante on her quest to become a valorous Fixer of the City, and was previously associated with the amusement park of La Manchaland prior to joining Limbus Company.
Don Quixote is a short woman with blonde hair styled in a bob cut and deep, round hazel eyes. She wears the Limbus Company uniform: a plain white shirt tucked under a black waist belt, a red tie, black slacks, worn brown running shoes, and a long black coat. Her upper body is thoroughly decorated with various Fixer merchandise.
Notably, Don Quixote forgoes the Limbus Company uniform shoes and instead wears a pair of yellow shoes with the word "Rocinante" embossed on them. Don Quixote wears a variation of this footwear in nearly all of her Identities.
Don Quixote wields a massive jousting lance named "SUEÑO IMPOSIBLE" that towers over her, indicating that she is much, much stronger than she initially appears to be. This fact is further supported by her dexterity with such a massive weapon and her effortless ability to pierce a human skull with it at short distance.
In her Bloodfiend form, Don Quixote has bright red eyes, and her hair is noticeably wavier, swept to the side. In her time as Sancho, Don Quixote was seen wearing a light gray outfit reminiscent of a military uniform, with a darker coat on top and a red fur boa worn over her shoulder that reached down to her knees. Currently, her Bloodfiend form wears an altered version of her Limbus Company uniform, which bears the same red fur boa from her past, covers the coattails in hardened blood, seemingly conceals or outright removes all of her Fixer decorations, and leaves her barefoot due to Rocinante's removal.
Don Quixote is a naive, animated woman who speaks exclusively in Shakespearean English and approaches everything with unwarranted enthusiasm. She stands out on a bus of hardened personalities with her friendly, over-the-top demeanor and childish view of the world. Driven by an intense sense of justice and an idolization of Fixers—whom she views as altruistic heroes rather than contracted help—she desperately yearns to be a knight in shining armor herself. While she possesses unmatched wisdom regarding Fixers despite lacking general knowledge of the City, her impulsive desire to protect the weak often causes unnecessary trouble, such as dragging the Sinners into pointless battles in both Canto III and Canto VII.
Though her antics frequently earn her disapproval for being unrealistic and immature, she is rarely portrayed with malicious intent. Her passion sometimes borders on being self-indulgent, as seen when she endangered the LCB just to meet the "Red Sack" under the guise of helping Heathcliff. However, after receiving reprimands like the one from Vergilius, she has shown some capacity to learn to think before acting. Ultimately, she remains a cheeky, adventure-driven soul wishing the best for everyone around her.
Sancho lived an entirely different life as an impassive Bloodfiend before wiping her memories and joining Limbus Company, contrasting her current persona with a deadpan, pessimistic, and antisocial attitude. Despite her detached exterior and tendency to mask her joys and tenderness under apathy due to embarrassment, she harbored a deep passion for Fixers and a profound love for her Father. Her difficulty communicating often strained relationships with her Family and made her seem arrogant, while her life was marked by bouts of depression, including a failed suicide attempt and the tragedy of La Manchaland that prompted her memory wipe.
Following the events of Canto VII, Sancho decided to accept her love of Fixers and continue playing the role of Don Quixote. While she remains as playful and nonsensical as ever, she is now capable of proper conversations, can make logical deductions, and occasionally acknowledges the ridiculousness of her persona. Although "Sancho" remains her default internal thought process—one she is still embarrassed to show the other Sinners—she now proudly holds onto her memories while finally embracing the life she long denied herself.
Born Sancho in District 16, Don Quixote led a miserable, familyless life until a failed suicide attempt led a Bloodfiend—the First Kindred—to turn her into his Second Kindred. Joining the Manchegan Family in a remote castle alongside Dulcinea, Nicolina, and Curiambro, she grew close to Bari, whose tales inspired her Father to build La Manchaland to unite humans and Bloodfiends. While Sancho and her Father enjoyed playing noble Fixers together, the park's starving Bloodfiends rebelled by tricking her Father into wearing the Helm of Mambrino, capturing him and slaughtering the human guests.
Before being staked to the Wheel, her Father entrusted her to Bari with Rocinante—shoes crafted from his blood to suppress her Bloodfiend nature. Seeking oblivion, Sancho drank from the River of Oblivion, sealing her memories and leaving her isolated in the Cradle to read and write letters to Fixers. Two centuries later, Vergilius infiltrated the lighthouse and coaxed her out, prompting her to adopt her creator's name from her shoes and begin her journey with Limbus Company.
Don Quixote's chaotic journey with Limbus Company peaked in Canto VII, where the temporary removal of Rocinante exposed her true identity as the Bloodfiend Sancho. Dragged through a series of psychological plays by her former family, she recovered her memories of her Father's failed utopia at La Manchaland and briefly sided with them. However, pushed by the Sinners' unwavering support, she ultimately rejected her apathetic past, defeated her dying Father in a duel, and inherited his name and shoes.
Now consciously choosing to live as a justice-seeking Fixer, Don Quixote battles her immense inherited bloodthirst through pure willpower.

Ryoshu, the 4th sinner of the group, Ryōshū is an ungovernable woman with a fascination for artistic merit and little tolerance for what disinterests or offends her. She was previously affiliated with a group of powerful figures connected to the Five Fingers of the Backstreets known as the House of Spiders prior to joining Limbus Company.
Ryōshū is a woman of average height and build, with straight black hair in a bob cut style and sharp red eyes, which at times can be seen glowing. She wears the dark gray and red LCB coat around her shoulders, secured by a small belt that goes over her right arm. Attached to the coat itself is her ID card. She wears black trousers, and her shirt uniform untucked; she foregoes the tie. She is occasionally depicted with a black glove on her left hand.
Along with this, she typically carries around a sheathed ōdachi on her back,[5] with the words 無我夢中 阿鼻叫喚 支離滅裂 (mugamuchū abikyōkan shirimetsuretsu, "Wading through a dream, the self nowhere to be found. Like the Naraka of Avīci and Raurava. Severed and torn until even the form is undone.") across it. The ōdachi's hilt is golden, and decorated with a butterfly pattern. The end of the sheath is wrapped in a red ribbon. The blade is consistently sheathed, as pointed out during the story.[6] In Mirror Worlds, she typically wields a separate weapon, while noticeably still carrying her ōdachi behind her. After Canto IX, Ryōshū's ōdachi changes appearance, now being white with red string wrapped around the handle of the blade and along the scabbard. The words 三生縁分 三千世界 三世因果 (sanshou enbun sanzensekai sanzeinga, roughly "We are tied across all our lives, all possible worlds, and all possible times") are written upon it in the calligraphic style of her original scabbard. The sword is also revealed to be titled Arayashiki (阿頼耶識).
Ryōshū is an individualistic, sadistic, and standoffish Sinner who loathes taking orders and frequently speaks in hostile, violent outbursts. Initially uncommunicative and easily frustrated, she views gruesome murder as "true artwork" and constantly communicates using cryptic abbreviations—a habit picked up from her daughter that she insists on for efficiency and wordplay. Though she often acts provocatively to get reactions, her seemingly abrasive demeanor masks a deeply caring nature. Over time, her subtle attentiveness to others and her hidden sensitivity come to light, revealing a complex woman whose eccentricities and defensive hostility stem from surviving years of severe abuse while trying to protect what matters most.
Her entire world centers around her daughter, Araya, and her Canto exposes the profound depression and insecurity hidden beneath her aloofness when faced with the Nursefathers and the agonizing loss of her child. Despite the cruel attempts of the Arayashiki Relic to tear them apart, Ryōshū and Araya reconcile, leading Ryōshū to reframe her artistic philosophy around the deep feeling found in absence. Post-Canto, she remains her smug, cryptic self while showing a newfound willingness to share personal details with the LCB, carrying forward the belief that goodbyes are only temporary until she can step up as a mother once more.
Born as Yoshihide, Ryōshū was created by the will of the Five Fingers and raised in the House of Spiders by five abusive Nursefathers—Valencina, Rien, Matthias, Callisto, and her biological mother Shiomi Yoru—to serve as a human weapon compatible with the memory-erasing Relic, Arayashiki. Deprived of a normal childhood, she suffered under their manipulative agendas until a tragic training accident with Lei Heng revealed Arayashiki's true power: each time it was unsheathed, it permanently erased her most precious memories, prompting the Nursefathers to place five seals on the blade.
As a young adult, Yoshihide discovered Araya, a child engineered from her own DNA, and chose to raise her with genuine love, giving her the normal upbringing she was denied while teaching her to read. This bond inspired her unique habit of using acronyms, derived from a game Araya taught her. However, because her duties to the House of Spiders kept forcing her to use Arayashiki and lose cherished memories of her daughter, Yoshihide eventually staged a violent rebellion to free them both. After hiding Araya safely inside a time-slowing vault, she slashed her way through the Nursefathers at the cost of her own recollections before accepting an offer from Faust to join Limbus Company as "Ryōshū" in exchange for the means to reunite with Araya.
Ryōshū joined Limbus Company as Sinner #4, dutifully participating in missions with her characteristic violence, efficiency, and relentless use of abbreviation-heavy SANGRIA. Though she initially doubted Faust's promise, she gradually grew to trust the Company as a reliable path back to Araya, showcasing her sharp, assassin-honed senses during events like solving the Timekilling Time case in T Corp. Her tough exterior occasionally slipped when confronted with triggers of her past, such as family dynamics in Hong Lu's homeland or a tense encounter with her former tutor Lei Heng during the Daguanyuan Evaluation, where she even executed a flawless, painless bisection of Hong Lu to demonstrate immortality. Despite her usual bloodthirsty and standoffish demeanor, her time with the LCB also allowed her softer, maternal side to peek through, notably when she surprised Sinclair and Xichun by teaching a surprisingly tender class on understanding children's needs, proving that beneath her brutal artistic worldview lies a mother simply waiting to reunite with her daughter.
- #8Meursault
Keys: LCB, Meursault, N Corp
Meursault, the 5th of the sinners, Meursault is a reserved and complacent man with a desire to be clearly communicated with. He was previously affiliated with N Corp., having tried and failed to form an opinion on their ideals as an employee of the Grand Magasin Sisyphe prior to joining Limbus Company.
Meursault is a tall, well-built man with slicked-back black hair and small green eyes. He possesses a sharp face with a thick neck and wide eyebrows. He wears the Limbus Company vest, but opts not to overlay it the standard company coat. Underneath his vest is the typical white collared shirt and red tie. His ID hangs from his right breast. Meursault's belt is notably different from the other sinners', and rather than being fitted with several silver frames, has one large, rusted chain link for a buckle in the middle.
In battle, Meursault wields two elbow-length gauntlets; the lower portion of the right gauntlet has the word "SOLEIL" emblazoned on it.
Meursault is a very prompt man, with a penchant for following orders. He speaks bluntly and concisely, never mincing his words. Throughout his first few adventures with the LCB, Meursault is reserved and obedient to the point of not speaking or acting on the sole basis of not having been asked to.
He is noticeably emotionally distant, never emoting nor approaching matters from a non-logical standpoint. While he has a heightened awareness of the world around him, often noticing details others do not, he has trouble discerning which observations are worth sharing. This leads to situations wherein he either shares too much, such as reciting irrelevant emoticons while reading off an email in Canto IV: The Unchanging, or shares too little, as when he failed to report the sudden disappearance of Limbus Company's target in Intervallo III: Yield My Flesh to Claim Their Bones. He also has a tendency to struggle with social cues, such as by provoking others unintentionally, characterizing him as somewhat awkward in the process. Meursault makes an effort to learn from his mistakes, however, and is quick to adapt after criticism.
With time, Meursault has begun to share some of his thoughts and take initiative without being ordered to. Yet, his prolonged and inexpressive manner of speech often leads to others jumping to conclusions and cutting him off before he can finish speaking. While most of his comments remain tailored to the logistics of the present situation, he may occasionally admit to something more vulnerable, such as feelings of nostalgia. And while many of his judgements are extremely objective and utilitarian, following only the will of the manager, some do take others' feelings into consideration. Notably, Canto VI: The Heartbreaking sees him weigh the success of the mission against Heathcliff's safety, ultimately prioritizing Heathcliff's survival.[4] He also uses his E.G.O to successfully bind Erlking Heathcliff without being prompted. Meursault implies he can remain entirely inactive without orders if need be,[5] indicating his indecision is a conscious choice he is slowly breaking from over the course of the story.
In Canto V, Meursault mentions having wandered "in search of life's joys". In the process, he appears to have experienced many facets of life, picking up a variety of skills including cooking, massages, and fighting prowess. He also dedicates himself to staying up-to-date on City matters, opting to read the newspaper each morning. This makes him a relatively well-received member of the LCB even despite his icy attitude, as the others view him as reliable. Meursault is always up to the task, whether it be acting as a walking encyclopedia, or coming into clutch for more pressing matters.
- #9Hong Lu
Keys: LCB, Hong Lu, Jia Family
Hong Lu, the 6th of the sinners, Hong Lu is of average height and build, with a pale complexion and raven black hair. His hair is very long, and tied into a high ponytail with a cyan hair tie, which he wears in most of his Identities. Notably, he has heterochromia: his right eye is black, and his left eye is a bright cyan.
His typical outfit consists of an LCB uniform consisting of black pants, a white long-sleeved dress shirt with a red tie, under a black, low-cut vest tucked into a belt. Additionally, Hong Lu wears a long black coat that reaches just above his ankles. This coat has his Sinner number on his left, and a metal pin inscribed with his name on the right.
Hong Lu carries a long guandao called "太虛幻境" (pinyin: tài xū huàn jìng; lit. 'Illusory Land of Great Void'), which he wields with his right hand.
When seen during his childhood, Hong Lu had a similar hairstyle, and he typically donned a white hanfu with light blue and gold decorations, beneath a white beizi. When seen during his adulthood in Daguanyuan, Hong Lu sported a similar look, consisting of a cream-colored hanfu with teal decorations, and a matching beizi.
Hong Lu is an exceptionally curious and ditzy Sinner whose friendly, easygoing demeanor and lack of social tact often baffle those around him. Despite speaking casually about severe trauma and attempted murder from his upbringing in the dangerous Kong family as if it does not concern him, this detached exterior masks a history of severe abuse and a learned helplessness. Rather than reacting with anger to disapproval or scorn, he effortlessly lets everything slide off his back, maintaining an exceptionally cheerful and approachable attitude during Limbus Company's first year.
Beneath his absentminded surface lies a deeply observant, emotionally mature, and empathetic individual, as shown by his tender insights into Yi Sang's mental state in Canto IV. Following a journey that confronted his passively suicidal mindset and the controlling grasp of his family elders in Daguanyuan, Hong Lu finally cast aside his learned helplessness to embrace his true emotions. Now more emotionally reflective and determined to speak his mind, he grounds himself in the present, ready to experience the full spectrum of human feeling alongside his new bonds.
Born to Jia Zheng and Lady Wang as Jia Baoyu, Hong Lu had his left eye replaced at birth with a jade Bolus by his grandmother, Jia Mu, which broadcasted his vision to the immortal elders in Tiekan Temple. Treasured as the "gem of the family" to entertain the elders, he grew up in Daguanyuan under the care of his servant Xiren, playing with siblings and peers like Daiyu and Huan. However, this sheltered life was rife with danger, including frequent assassination attempts from his siblings—such as a poisoned branch that slowly decayed his brother Jia Ling—and rigorous daily martial training overseen by Jia Mu from the age of seven.
At age ten, Hong Lu was forced to witness human experiments conducted by Jia Mu for the Kong family, which aimed to create a forbidden Cuckoospawn Bolus to invite the wrath of the Head. When Xiren tried to intervene, she was beheaded by the Heishou and revived with a detached personality, warning Hong Lu to remain silent. The resulting massacre wiped out the onlookers, leaving Hong Lu drowning in guilt over failing to save everyone except Daiyu, and earning the eternal hatred of Jia Huan's older brother. Traumatized and completely detached from life, he resigned himself to the elders' control until Faust offered him an escape, prompting him to abandon his birth name and join Limbus Company as "Hong Lu."
Hong Lu’s journey with Limbus Company shifted dramatically during Canto VIII: The Surrendered Witnessing in Daguanyuan, where his hidden past and repressed emotions finally came to light. Participating in the Family Hierarch Evaluations to help the LCB secure a Golden Bough, Hong Lu faced intense hostility from his estranged brother Jia Huan, his traumatized childhood friend Lin Daiyu, and the bitter Xue Pan. Despite these painful reunions—and the revelation of his grandmother's horrific human experiments that had long ago traumatized him into silent detachment—Hong Lu steadily stepped up as an active participant. When pressed by his family to state what Hongyuan needed, he honestly declared that the city required "kindness," moving Jia Qiu to forfeit the Evaluation and throw his support behind Jia Xichun.
The climax unfolded at Tiekan Temple, where the immortal elders and Jia Mu attempted to force Xichun to submit to the Anamnaworm to become the next Hierarch. Backed by the LCB and fueled by his newfound emotional awareness, Hong Lu flatly rejected his role as the family's passive "gem" and defied his grandmother. After helping defeat a Distorted Jia Mu by intentionally embracing the full spectrum of human sorrow, wrath, and joy, he flooded the temple to secure their escape. With Xichun safely claiming the throne and reforming Hongyuan, Hong Lu said warm goodbyes to Daiyu, Xiren, and Kong Qiu, leaving his old life behind with a radiant, genuine smile as he finally walks a path of his own choosing.
- #10Heathcliff
Keys: LCB, Heathcliff, Wuthering Heights
Heathcliff, the 7th sinner of the group, Heathcliff is a brash and action-oriented man with a strong, dedicated spirit. He was previously affiliated with Wuthering Heights, having grown up alongside the Earnshaws and later worked for the Dead Rabbits Syndicate prior to joining Limbus Company.
Heathcliff is a tall and well-built man with messy dark brown hair parted on the right side of his head. He possesses sharp, glaring eyes that are a dark shade of purple, and slit pupils. His eyebrows are the same shade as his hair and are both slit, his right eyebrow having two slits and his left just one. He has a dark complexion with a number of scars littering his arms and going all the way up to his cheeks.
His work uniform lacks the typical long black leather jacket, instead including a holster which is strapped around his chest and shoulders, with his employee card hanging below his right breast. The sleeves of his Limbus Company white shirt are rolled up to his elbows. He wears a red tie, black suit pants with a black waist belt and dark gray shoes.
His weapon of choice is a long metal bat with bandages wrapped around the handle and the word "REVENGE" written in sharp letters on the barrel, which Heathcliff holds in his right hand and rests over his shoulder. After the events of Canto VI, he refashioned the bat to spell out "REmember". This is also reflected on his LCB Sinner battle sprites.
During his makeover in Canto VI, Heathcliff wears a formal suit in the style of T Corp., composed of a white shirt underneath a red vest and a blue overcoat with red lapels, both decorated with golden trimmings, a white cravat and dark suit pants and boots. His hair has been combed back and tied into a low ponytail.
Notably, although difficult to catch, Heathcliff wears a ring on the pointer finger of his right hand, which is present in most of his Mirror World Identities.
Heathcliff is an exceptionally short-tempered and abrasive Sinner who defaults to violence, though his explosive rage is primarily an over-the-top defense mechanism against being ridiculed and looked down upon. Despite his initial hostility, aversion to complicated speech, and tendency to beat up allies like Sinclair for minor grievances, he is rarely the unprovoked instigator of fights. Beneath this volatile exterior lies a deeply loyal, considerate, and fast-acting protector who steps up for his peers when threatened, treating the LCB like friends despite their constant mistreatment.
Over time, as the others earn his respect, Heathcliff opens up to verbal communication and shows a remarkable capacity for vulnerability, selflessness, and forgiveness, particularly regarding his profound, regret-filled love for Catherine. Having learned the painful consequences of poor communication at Wuthering Heights, he strives to improve his bonds with both Catherine and his Sinner family. Post-Canto VI, he remains a fierce fighter but channels his energy with purposeful determination, keeping a notebook to cherish memories of Catherine and his ongoing journey with his comrades.
Orphaned in the District 20 Backstreets, Heathcliff was adopted by Mr. Earnshaw and raised at Wuthering Heights alongside Hindley and Catherine, enduring years of brutal physical abuse and forced servitude after Hindley inherited the manor. Despite Hindley's relentless efforts to separate them, Heathcliff and Catherine's bond remained his only solace until he overheard her discussing plans to marry Edgar Linton. Believing she did not truly love him and fearing his own volatile temper would cause her harm, he fled the manor to protect her. He eventually found a new sense of belonging in the T Corp. Backstreets by joining the Dead Rabbits Syndicate as a vigilante, earning their trust through bloodshed while continuing to send letters to Catherine from afar.
Invited back to Wuthering Heights under the guise of reuniting with Catherine, Heathcliff instead arrived to discover she had died. Her corpse had been placed inside a basement laboratory run by Ring researchers and the New League of Nine Littérateurs to experiment with dangerous Mirror technology, backed by a murderous alternate-world version of himself known as the Erlking. Overwhelmed by grief, manipulated by Nelly's betrayal, and tormented by the Erlking's claims that his existence brought only pain, Heathcliff nearly succumbed to despair and underwent a violent Distortion. However, after confronting his past, uncovering Catherine's diary, and finally communicating with her directly, he unlocked a powerful new resolve. He fought off the Erlking, inherited the manor, and learned the tragic truth: Catherine had orchestrated the experiments and a plan to erase herself from all worlds, believing it was the only way to free Heathcliff from his suffering. When the final plot culminated, Catherine was wiped from existence, leaving only Heathcliff and Dante to remember her.
Refashioning his bat with the word "remember," Heathcliff emerged from the tragedy significantly more mellow, dependable, and deeply caring toward his fellow Sinners, whom he now considers his true family. Though he carries the heavy, secret burden of her loss and the painful revelations of his past, he refuses to give in to despair. Instead, he channels his fierce devotion into a steadfast purpose, determined to one day reclaim the stolen Golden Bough, restore Catherine, and honor the love they shared while continuing his journey with Limbus Company.
- #11Ishmael
Keys: LCB, Ishmael, Pequod
Ishmael, the 8th sinner of the group, Ishmael is a straight-laced and dependable woman with a tendency for blunt words. She was previously affiliated with the Pequod and its crew, and subsequently spent a number of years working as a Fixer prior to joining Limbus Company.
Ishmael is a woman of average build with a fair complexion and wavy, fluffy and voluminous knee-length orange hair, and she wears a thick headband woven out of rope with white ribbons on either end, a memento of Queequeg and a recurring feature in nearly all of her Identities. She has hazel-colored eyes, at times appearing yellowish or orange, with sharp eyelashes and thin eyebrows, and a number of freckles across her nose and cheeks. Outis describes her hands as "coarse and rough".
Ishmael wears the standard Limbus Company uniform, although her coat that is torn at the waist, cutting off the last two letters of her name. Her employee ID is pinned to the coat's right breast.
Her weapon of choice is a flanged black mace made of numerous, vertical white stripes arranged radially, and she carries a circular shield with three bands across the face, branded with the word "HEARSE".
During her time as a sailor, Ishmael had chin-length hair and her uniform consisted of a gray sweater, thick overalls and black gloves. She also wielded a large harpoon.
Ishmael is introduced as a calm, level-headed, and highly competent Sinner who prioritizes rationality over formalities, often scoffing at the foolishness of her peers and superiors alike. While her sharp tongue and haughty attitude can spark antagonism, she is a staunchly reliable team member willing to put herself in harm's way for Dante and build genuine connections through banter and shared experiences. Beneath her sensible exterior, however, lies a deep vulnerability to stress and impulsivity, most notably seen when forced back onto the waters that claimed her former crew. This anxiety ultimately erupted into the obsessive frenzy, violence, and consuming hatred that defined her harrowing ordeal in Canto V, where she risked losing herself entirely to the image of the Captain she so deeply resented.
Following her realization that breaking free from that obsession was the only path to genuine autonomy, Ishmael emerged from Canto V with a strong sense of independence and emotional balance. While she retains her characteristic standoffishness, critical eye, and sharp wit, her hot-headed moments are now driven by her own choice rather than an unmanageable fervor. She looks for reasons to trust her coworkers and honors the memory and tender care she shared with Queequeg, proudly navigating her journey with Limbus Company as a self-assured woman who has finally reclaimed control over her own life and course.
Ishmael was originally a desk worker for U Corp.'s Nest, in Marlin Port, having studied and struggled for a long time in order to find a stable job as a member of a Wing. The job left Ishmael unsatisfied and depressed, yearning for a great change in her life, which led her to quit and find a new place to start, with the thought on her mind that she would've liked to die near a body of water. That was when Ishmael met Ahab: she became deeply fascinated by the Captain's resolve and confidence, and decided to join her Whaling crew, obtaining a Grade 9 Fixer license.
In her time at sea, Ishmael became familiar with the Great Lake, its environment and rules. During the Pequod's hunt for the Pallid Whale, one of the five Calamities of the Lake, Ishmael worked as a sailor and a harpooner, with her duties ranging from oil-bucketing to active combat. Atop the Pequod, Ishmael grew close to the crew, and all of them, strongly inspired by Ahab's words and trusting in their ability to hunt the Whale, started planning for their future once the voyage was over.
However, their wishes would not come to pass: around three years before the events of Canto V, in 981,[1] the Pequod was attacked by the Pallid Whale and sunk with most of its crew. Only Ishmael, who managed to hang on to the coffin Queequeg had built for herself, survived, staying afloat until the Whale disappeared in the depths of the Lake once more.
After the wreckage, Ishmael would spend the next three years working as a Fixer, taking odd jobs[2] that involved Outskirts and Ruins exploration,[3] with the final goal of one day finding Ahab, whom she believed to have survived the attack, and killing her.
Joining Limbus Company as Sinner #8 prior to January 984, Ishmael initially leveraged her Fixer expertise for the LCB before the approaching U Corp. mission triggered intense stress and friction with her peers due to her traumatic history with the Great Lake. In Canto V: The Evil Defining, this anxiety boiled over into insubordination, ruthlessness, and an all-consuming obsession with vengeance against her former commander, Captain Ahab. Trapped inside the Pallid Whale, Ishmael struck a dangerous bargain with Ahab to hunt down her old crew, only to watch Ahab sacrifice her own loyal subordinates—including Ishmael's dear friend Queequeg—for her own selfish crusade. Grounded by Heathcliff's timely rescue and Dante's compassionate guidance, Ishmael ultimately rejected Ahab's cycle of hatred, slaying the Calamity and embracing a renewed sense of purpose with the LCB.
Post-Canto V, Ishmael carries herself with a stronger sense of autonomy and emotional balance, shedding the suffocating grip of her past trauma. Though she maintains her characteristic sharp wit and demanding standards—even openly challenging Vergilius during Canto VI to earn clarity and trust—she navigates her role as a Sinner with a self-assured independence. Recognizing Dante as her new captain while keeping her sights on a future voyage of her own, she sails forward with the company on her own terms.
- #12Rodion (Rodya)
Keys: LCB, Rodion, Rodya, Yurodivye
Rodion is a tall and well-built woman with a pale complexion. She has thick, bushy hip-length brown hair and deep blue eyes, and a beauty mark under her right eye. She is always shown wearing orange eyeshadow and light pink lipstick. On her left breast is a tattoo of what appears to be an anatomically correct heart split by an axe.
She wears the standard Limbus Company uniform, a white dress shirt, black slacks, vest and a coat that is somewhat frayed at the bottom marked with 'RODYA' and NO.9', though she forgoes the tie and leaves her collar hanging loosely. Rodion also dons a thin black choker.
Rodion wields an axe with 'РАСКО́Л' spelled out on the head.
Rodion is an amiable, fun-loving, and laid-back Sinner who defaults to casual speech, nicknames, and playful banter to keep spirits high and break the ice on the LCB bus. Driven by a deep-seated hatred of boredom and a childhood shaped by poverty in the Backstreets, she unabashedly loves food, money, and luxury, firmly believing that wealth dictates one's quality of life. While her cheeky teasing and opportunistic nature can sometimes feel overbearing, she is genuinely kind, empathetic, and often acts as a comforting presence for her fellow Sinners, maintaining a strong aversion to unnecessary violence despite her familiarity with the City's cruelty.
Beneath her cheerful exterior, however, lies a solemn, highly insecure woman burdened by deep-seated guilt and regret over a tragic past she is desperate to avoid confronting. Though she is acutely sensitive to wealth-based inequality and capable of offering sharp, empathetic insights, she quickly masks her serious moments with a forced laugh and a nonchalant attitude to escape her painful memories. Struggling to recognize her own self-worth and plagued by the impulsive choices of her youth, Rodion continues to wrestle with the ghosts of her past while serving as a warm, reliable pillar of emotional support for the rest of the team.
Growing up in the grueling poverty of the District 25 Backstreets, Rodion joined the Yurodiviye—a revolutionary group founded by her friend Sonya—to fight against the crushing inequality enforced by local pawnbrokers and tax collectors. However, as the group grew more obsessed with endless philosophical debates rather than direct action, and remained unfazed by the starvation death of a young member named Ivan, Rodion lost patience with Sonya's philosophy of waiting for the "perfect moment." Driven by a desperate need to help her suffering neighbors, she took matters into her own hands and confronted a local tax collector with an axe. When the tax collector met her plea for aid with mockery, Rodion struck her down, momentarily bringing food and relief to her village through the stolen wealth.
Tragically, her impulsive act brought catastrophic consequences; the tax collector was a member of the ruthless Middle Syndicate, which retaliated by massacring every single resident of the village and piling their bodies in the streets. Crushed by overwhelming guilt, self-loathing, and the devastating realization that her foolish defiance had destroyed the very people she tried to save, Rodion fled her home district to escape her past.
Following her departure from the devastated District 25, Rodion spent an untold period wandering the City before eventually finding a place among Limbus Company's ranks as Sinner #9. Her cheerful, easygoing persona allowed her to integrate seamlessly with the crew, though her initial distaste for intense combat suggested she had largely avoided heavy fighting in the years between leaving the Yurodiviye and joining the LCB.
In February 984, the Company's second major assignment brought them to Nest J in search of a Golden Bough, plunging Rodion straight into a crucible of unresolved trauma. Trying desperately to conceal her history and soothe her mounting anxiety, she learned that the local Nest was operating under the influence of the Yurodiviye. When the mission culminated in a high-stakes card game at the top of a casino—where a rival Syndicate boss was brutally crushed by a hydraulic press—Rodion emerged victorious, but the victory brought her face-to-face with Sonya once again. Down in the freezing casino basement, surrounded by an ice cave encasing the Bough, Rodion's darkest memories played out for the entire LCB to witness: her desperate dreams of revolution, the fatal axe blow to the tax collector, and the horrific massacre that wiped out her entire village.
Amidst this emotional exposure, Sonya offered her an enticing escape: rejoin his side and let him reshape the world so they could pretend the bloodshed never happened. Rodion firmly rejected the offer, recognizing that accepting his cold, detached philosophy would mean hiding from the true weight of her actions. However, the encounter left deep internal scars that refused to heal. Nearly a year later, during the T Corp. investigation in late November 984, Rodion crossed paths with another local cell of the Yurodiviye and discovered that Sonya's revolutionary message had blossomed into a vast, city-wide phenomenon, earning him widespread reverence as a saint.
- #13Sinclair
Keys: LCB, Sinclair, The Sign, 2nd Smoke War
Emil Sinclair, the 10th sinner of the group, More frequently known as just Sinclair, he is an anxious and self-conscious man with a blatantly empathetic nature. He was previously affiliated with the prosthetic-famous town of Calw, having lived and attended school there prior to joining Limbus Company.
Sinclair is a young man with a fair complexion, below average in height. He has golden eyes and wavy, short blonde hair.
His primary work attire consists of a plain white shirt tucked into a black waist belt and is accompanied by black suspenders, black suit pants, and a long Limbus Company coat. He wears a red necktie and attached to his left suspender strap is his ID. Sinclair has black gloves and wears black oxfords at his feet.
In battle, Sinclair wields a halberd that is approximately 180cm long and has "VOGEL" written on the blade.
Sinclair is a timid, nervous, and withdrawn Sinner who initially feels completely out of place in the violent world of Limbus Company, hampered by a sheltered Nest background that leaves him with unrealistic, hopeful expectations about the City. Unlike most of his peers, he harbors an extensive empathy for people, animals, and Abnormalities alike, frequently advocating for mercy, checking in on dejected teammates, and striving to cheer them up. However, this thoughtful and observant nature is a double-edged sword, as it feeds into a perfectionist tendency to overthink, struggle with intense self-criticism, and stutter under pressure.
Despite his passive and fearful disposition toward violence, Canto III revealed a much sterner, resolute side of Sinclair capable of fierce disdain and righteous anger, particularly when confronting corrupt figures like Kromer. Standing up to her helped him shed much of his initial hesitation and build a healthy sense of intuition against manipulative individuals like Ahab and Cesara. While still emotive, prone to panicking, and occasionally sparking friction with his peers, Sinclair has grown significantly more self-confident and determined to speak his mind, carrying forward his core tenderness and goodwill as he adapts to the City's cruelty.
Born to a wealthy family in Nest K’s prosthetic hub of Calw, Emil Sinclair grew isolated as his parents and sister replaced their bodies with full prosthetics, leaving him as the sole biological holdout. Struggling with deep alienation, he confided his fears to a mysterious classmate named Kromer, who feigned sympathy to exploit him. Meanwhile, he grew close to an observant transfer student named Demian. Pressured by Kromer's promises to save him from the prosthetics procedure, a terrified Sinclair stole his family's basement key and guided her into an illicit L Corp branch connected through an air vent.
The tragedy culminated on Christmas Eve when Sinclair returned home to confess, only to find Kromer and an armored assailant brutally slaughtering his family to "free" him from his prosthetics. Left traumatized and alone, Sinclair was briefly rescued by Demian—who urged him to overcome his fears—before eventually being recruited into Limbus Company.
Following the tragic destruction of his family and his expulsion from Calw, Emil Sinclair was recruited into Limbus Company as Sinner #11, stepping into a harsh world for which his sheltered upbringing had left him entirely unprepared. In February 984, the LCB's search for the Golden Boughs brought the team directly to his ruined hometown during Canto III: The Unconfronting. Confronted with the ghastly sight of prosthetic bodies suspended across the desolate streets, Sinclair was physically sickened, yet the horror forced him to finally shed his passive hesitation. Stepping up to protect his manager and teammates, he returned to his family's manor and descended into the familiar basement connected to the ruins of L Corp. Branch K-02. There, driven by righteous fury upon discovering that Kromer had desecrated his family's graves and tortured Effie, Sinclair drew upon the three strokes of The Sign and found the inner resolve to fight back.
At the bottom of the facility, Sinclair faced Kromer directly as the Golden Bough resonated with his buried memories. Though Kromer ultimately succumbed to a monstrous Distortion that overwhelmed the Sinners, the mysterious Demian intervened at the last moment, destroying Kromer to prevent her from further dominating Sinclair's life. Left to process the wreckage of his past, Sinclair received gentle reassurance from Dante and Demian, helping him realize that his past mistakes and the tragic loss of his family did not define his entire existence.
In the months that followed, however, Sinclair continued to wrestle with profound guilt and anxiety, particularly regarding the casualties he felt responsible for, such as Effie and Saude. This trauma made him fiercely desperate to save lives, manifesting in intense distress during the U Corp. mission in Canto V when he feared hostages couldn't be rescued. Despite these heavy burdens, he slowly began to heal. By August 984, as seen in Intervallo III, he confessed to his peers that he was gradually learning to disassociate the Christmas holiday from the memory of the horrific massacre. Later, during Canto IX: The Unsevering, his deepening mastery over The Sign unlocked bizarre, existential dimensions, allowing him to summon a future version of himself from the Abraxas Chariot during the Second Smoke War—leaving him to ponder whether his entire life was merely a predestined vehicle designed to manifest that single, surreal moment in time.
- #14Outis
Keys: LCB, Outis, 1st Smoke War
Outis, the 11th sinner of the group, Outis is a brusque and assertive woman with a poorly-disguised inclination to look down on those around her. Previously involved in the Smoke War, she has a tendency to judge others based on the many critical experiences she had prior to joining Limbus Company.
Outis is an olive-skinned woman of average build and height, with light brown eyes and brown hair. Her uniform is comprised of a short black jacket, a white dress shirt, a red necktie, formal black pants and black combat boots. She also has two gold earrings on her left ear, a broken wristwatch on her left wrist, and carries her sword sheathed on her left hip. Overall, Outis's uniform is well-kept, professional and lacks any adornments.
In battle, Outis wields a modernly designed kopis with "ΟΥΤΙΣ" written along the blade.
Outis is a strict, commanding woman whose history as a war veteran is at the forefront of her personality. Compared to other Sinners, she tends to be disciplined and well put-together, as she approaches most scenarios with a cool head and tactical mindset. This includes levying high levels of suspicion towards most everyone the LCB encounters, ensuring that everyone stays on their toes. She is also a quick thinker, and a highly opinionated one. Outis loathes to follow plans and people she does not agree with, and will not hesitate to talk back to individuals higher up the chain of command, so long as it wouldn't stand to disadvantage her. An excess of pride is evident in every action she takes.
Similarly, an arrogant sense of self confidence also follows Outis wherever she goes. Outis makes it clear that she sees herself as one of the most competent members of the LCB—if not the most—and often claims that her and Dante make up more than enough manpower to settle most situations. While Outis is shown to have great capabilities, the haughtiness of which she carries herself often leads the people around her to dismiss her skill and poke fun at her attitude, to which Outis takes great offense. Part of this adequacy shines through her deeply goal-driven nature, a trait which is emphasized in a few of her Identities, and the years-long journey she describes having taken prior to joining Limbus Company.[4]
Outis has a noticeably sycophantic relationship with Dante, as she is quick to praise them for their leadership prowess and to defend them from any form of criticism. However, the majority of her compliments toward the manager also have a sense of back-handedness, and suggest she does not harbor any genuine good will towards them. Still, with time, Outis' tendency to obnoxiously commend Dante has grown far less common and defining of her character. By Miracle in District 20, she was willing to brazenly lecture Dante on the importance of staying alive, and later stubbornly refute them on Don Quixote's nature in Canto VII: The Dream Ending. Despite this, she has sternly expressed to Dante that they have not disappointed her yet.[5] Rather than making progress with them, the LCB only seems to frustrate Outis more as time passes. She expresses no interest in opening up to her coworkers, including the manager she used to spend so much time trying to impress. Her dislike of the others usually shows through admonishing them for reckless behavior, or pointing out their flaws and general stain on the group. She is particularly opposed to cowardice and the withholding of information.[6]
Additionally, as her file points out, Outis maintains a cunning personality and a mysterious, classified past. Despite it also warning of potential treachery, Outis is consistently the most outspoken against traitors, sniffing out and chastising various back-stabbers across multiple different Cantos.[7] Likewise, Outis has a habit of suggesting that certain Sinners be removed from the company when she feels their behavior may pose a danger to Dante or the proceeding of their missions.
In many ways, Outis behaves as if she were still on the lines of war. She often uses military terms as descriptors, and comments on her coworkers' performance as she would on a platoon of soldiers. While she frequently blames the LCB for being incompetent subordinates, she's not unwilling to fault superiors for failing their men; at times pointing to poor leadership for the failures of other factions.
Although Outis' time on the battlefield has hardened her into a rigid and difficult person, it is that same experience which makes her such a steadfast, knowledgeable, and professional member of the team, determined to follow her journey to its conclusion.
- #15Gregor
Keys: LCB, Gregor, Old G Corp, 1st Smoke War
Gregor, the 12th sinner of the group, Gregor is a good-humored and composed man with a bit of a competitive side. He was previously affiliated with the Smoke War, having fought for the Old G Corp. alongside other bug-augmented test subjects prior to joining Limbus Company.
Gregor is a man slightly below average height, with golden-brown eyes, dark brown hair tied back in a ponytail, and a 5 o'clock shadow. He wears half-rimmed black glasses. In most appearances, Gregor is shown with a cigarette in his mouth.
He wears the standard Limbus Company uniform, consisting of a white collared shirt, black vest, red tie, black pants, and an ID card, as well as a long coat, which he does not typically wear. His sleeves are both rolled up to his elbows, and a tattoo reading the word "UNGEZIEFER" is visible on his left forearm. His most notable feature is his right arm, a segmented limb that terminates in a massive, claw-like appendage.
Much like the protagonist of The Metamorphosis which he is based on, Gregor's right arm is never attributed to a single particular insect. Instead, it combines the characteristics of multiple different insects, though Gregor is most frequently associated with cockroaches.
Gregor is a friendly, easygoing Sinner with a casual, amicable manner who uses folksy slang and self-effacing humor to uplift the group's mood during dour situations. As one of the more ordinary and laid-back members of the LCB, he prefers to sit back and observe rather than take charge, deeply valuing simple day-to-day comforts after years of hardship. Despite enduring frequent lighthearted teasing from his teammates about his mutant bug arm—which visibly hurts him—he rarely fires back, choosing instead to be a good sport and keep the peace.
Beneath this easygoing exterior, however, Gregor hides a profound, melancholic weariness shaped by his traumatic past and a tendency to swallow his deepest emotions. While he can be vocal about surface-level annoyances or matters of war, he grows uncharacteristically silent and distant when confronted with severe triggers, such as encountering his estranged mother Hermann or mourning the loss of comrades like Yuri. Softhearted and quietly sympathetic, Gregor does his best to push his painful history aside and find contentment in the present moment with his new companions.
Forced into a nightmarish childhood of experimentation, Gregor was used as a test subject by Old G Corp. under the direction of his mother, Hermann, who forcibly replaced his right arm with an advanced insectoid bio-prosthetic capable of endless regeneration. Confined to a plain blue room and subjected to endless demands to slice apples with his new appendage, Gregor resisted for years until his fifteenth birthday, when he finally broke and complied, only to find the grueling tests continuing unabated. Designed by Hermann to ultimately transform him into a devastating wartime weapon known as the Roach Emperor—one of G Corp.'s elite decisive assets alongside entities like the Lord of Flies—Gregor's hidden potential remained locked away, with Hermann frequently hinting at even deeper "layers" waiting to be unwrapped.
Deployed into the brutal Smoke War as a Manager, Gregor's unique regenerative augmentation made him a beacon of hope and a widely celebrated symbol of G Corp. war propaganda among his adoring troops, though he eventually chose to desert. When the war finally ended, he attempted to integrate into civilian society through a regular office job under veteran employment policies, but his past followed him relentlessly. Shunned by a public that deeply distrusted G Corp. veterans and plagued by his own unpredictable bio-prosthetic arm—which would occasionally lash out violently against innocent civilians—Gregor was left trapped in a helpless cycle of trauma, desperately screaming for a limb that could never truly be removed.
Following the tumultuous end of his civilian life, Gregor was eventually recruited into Limbus Company as Sinner #13, stepping up as the very first crew member to introduce himself to Dante after their initial contract was forged in the forest. During Canto I: The Outcast, his past caught up with him immediately when the LCB's search for the first Golden Bough brought them to the D Corp. Backstreets. There, he formed a warm bond with a young former L Corp. fix-er named Yuri, even as the group was repeatedly confronted by hostile Old G Corp. veterans who spat vitriol at Gregor, branding him a dishonorable deserter who abandoned his comrades while the war dragged on.
Deep within the L Corp. branch, the Golden Bough resonated with Gregor's trauma, plunging the Sinners into a harrowing recreation of his memories 70 days into the Smoke War, where he was forced to relive his darkest nightmares of manipulation by his mother, Hermann. When Hermann's massive hands materialized from the sky to crush them, Gregor realized the only escape was to stop running and let her grasp him. Though this confrontation proved he could never truly outrun his mother's shadow, he continued to process his past as the journey went on—until an encounter with the Thumb during the assault on The House of Spiders pushed him to a dangerous breaking point. Triggered by Valencina's commands, Gregor's insectoid arm surged out of control, causing him to undergo a terrifying partial metamorphosis into the Roach Emperor that required a brutal collaborative effort from Vergilius, Rodion, and Heathcliff to subdue before it became permanent.
- #16Vergilius
Keys: LCB, Vergilius, Guide, V Corp, Colour Fixer
He is a returning character from Leviathan, during which he is an independent Fixer running his own Office in V Corp. The series explores the circumstances leading to his eventual recruitment to Limbus Company as well as his connection to Charon.
Vergilius is a man of thin build and exceptionally pale, nearly gray skin. He has a visible scar across his face that goes from above his left eyebrow down to his right cheek, and his hands appear quite scarred as well. He has short, straight gray hair with a slight part in the middle. Vergilius has red eyes which glow when angered, from which he takes his Color Fixer name.
Vergilius wears a loosely-buttoned dress shirt, a striped jacket with a badge on the left lapel, slacks and dress shoes. All his clothing are black or shades of gray. Vergilius also sports an earring on his right ear.
Though not visible, Vergilius' body has received some augmentations, with his legs being enhanced with synthetic muscle fibers. Vergilius' weapon of choice is an orange gladius, which can be heated at will.
Vergilius has manifested E.G.O, which takes the form of a red leather pauldron over his right shoulder, from which flows a cape of blood that reaches down to the ground, as well as a green laurel crown, spiked with blood-red thorns, causing blood to drip over Vergilius' face. When activating his E.G.O, his gladius also changes, turning bright red and appearing drenched in blood.
Vergilius is a jaded and straightforward individual with a sharp tongue. He is emotionally detached from most of the group, viewing them as a group of unruly children he has to watch over. He keeps his distance from them, and has no qualms with threatening Sinners with extreme violence or using it to discipline them.
Despite his cold behavior towards the Sinners, Vergilius seems to push people away and put up a cruel and uncaring front, in order to avoid getting closer to his colleagues again, as in Vergilius' past, this has happened before quite recently, with him losing his office and the orphanage kids he cared for at the hands of the Ring. Even so, he has a soft spot for Charon, and he seemingly considers Dante as some sort of confidant, even if he has no outer regard for Dante's struggles.
Vergilius appears ambivalent to his title of a Color Fixer, constantly emphasizing his role within the company as nothing but a simple guide and pushing off Don Quixote and Hopkins' idolization of him, and is shown to carry heavy guilt regarding his past and profession, which has often led him to destroy entire families. This is also part of the reason why he decided to care for orphan children.
Despite this, in Main Story Encounter 6-41, Vergilius appeared briefly as a non-controllable ally unit when a seemingly never-ending horde of enemies from The Wild Hunt emerged from an underground laboratory operated by ex-Ring researchers, forfeiting several clauses of his contract with Limbus Company in the process (which was the major reason behind his strict non-interference in the Sinners' operations), likely as the scene reminded him of the similar events that had led to the death of his Office members, as of Leviathan.
After the events of Leviathan, Vergilius and Charon came into the employment of Limbus Company. As a guide, Vergilius directs the Sinners to their destination and will not get directly involved with the mission, and he will not fight unless Dante is in imminent danger. On occasion, he will enact disciplinary measures on Sinners, be it verbal or physical, to ensure the mission will not be further hampered by their behavior.
- #17Charon
Keys: LCB, Charon, Driver
She is a returning character from Leviathan, where she is introduced as Lapis (라피스, Rapiseu), a headstrong young woman who grew up in Vergilius' orphanage. Her disappearance leads to Garnet, her childhood friend and fellow orphan, and Vergilius investigating what happened to her, eventually discovering she has been abducted by the Ring. As part of the Ring's experiments with the glass window, Lapis' personality was overwritten with an Identity of herself from another Mirror World.
This process left the Identity known as "Charon" trapped in Lapis' body, with no memories of who Lapis is. Vergilius would ultimately take the job as Limbus Company's guide as a part of a deal made with Faust to one day get Lapis back.
Charon is a short girl with grayish skin. Her droopy eyes are of a similar gray color and tend to have a vacant, emotionless look. Charon has silver hair with bangs and that covers her ears; in the back, it is tied into two thin, floor-length twintails.
Charon wears grayish-green, church-like attire in the form of a ankle-length, long-sleeved dress and hat. Her hat is tall and brimless with silver rims; the lower rim splits and curls outwards to make room for a mural of a dark cross within a larger, silver cross with two dots below the cross's arms. Charon's dress has a high collar, a very low neckline, a layered skirt and rounded hems; she also wears a pleated white top with a cross mural on the chest, black boots with white laces, black gloves and two black belts with silver buckles.
The hems and edges of the dress have silver lining; the outermost skirt parts in the middle and has geometric murals (the same as on her cuffs, lapels and bottom rim of her hat) running partway down its length whereas as the inner skirt has black outlining. The collar and hems of Charon's dress have the same cruciform mural as on her hat.
Charon carries with her a black, square-type oar.
Charon is a laconic, quiet individual whose few words are blunt and brief. Charon simply seems to be in her own world, and repeatedly proves that she is neither shy nor scared of the Sinners. Similarly to Vergilius, Charon stays disconnected from the group and shows no interest in becoming close with them. Her stubborn refusal to learn how to use a map or navigate properly in Canto I: The Outcast is indicative of her unwavering nature and tendency to resist outside influence. Charon has somewhat of a childish personality, frequently using phrases such as "vroom-vroom" or "shimmy-shaky" and talking about Mephistopheles as if it were a living being. She also refers to herself exclusively in third person.
At the beginning of Limbus Company, Charon has a pre-established relationship with her guardian Vergilius, who treats her as something of a daughter. Their relationship shows off both of their softer sides: Charon will act more childlike and needy with him, and Vergilius treats her with a surprising amount of affection. However, Charon seems to be missing some memories of the time they've spent together, and will sometimes contradict herself. For example, when Vergilius mentions that she used to hum when she was sad, she denies this, stating she only hums when happy. Though she comes off as relatively detached and carefree, it's clear that Charon has more going on underneath the surface. Vergilius would at one point remark to Dante that she is "going through a long tunnel with no end in sight".
Charon works as the bus driver of Limbus Company, and drives them to their destinations on their search for the Golden Boughs. While not often the focus of a scene, Charon is often found at Vergilius' side when not she is not driving. She never gets involved in combat, and typically waits in the bus until the Sinners return from their mission.
During Canto I: The Outcast, Yuri, a Fixer who traveled with the Sinners while they were on their first Golden Bough retrieval mission, attempted to teach Charon how to use maps to navigate, as Charon simply drives based on instinct. Unfortunately, Yuri died before getting any of her lessons to stick with Charon and she has continued driving as she always has.
In Canto VII: The Dream Ending, Charon and Dante had a short conversation, with Faust helping act as a translator for them. Dante asked Charon what she would like to do if they got a chance to visit a normal amusement park while not working, and Charon answered that she would like to eat candy. While Charon often asks Vergilius for sweets, this appears to be a connection between her and Lapis, as Lapis had a dream when she was a child to one day try all the flavors of candy in the world.
During the House of Spiders' raid of Limbus Company's headquarters in Canto IX: The Unsevering, Charon was taken hostage by Lucio on Valencina's orders so that Vergilius and the Sinners would be forced to fight at a disadvantage in order to protect her. She was safely recovered from the two Thumb members before the House of Spiders members retreated from the HQ.
- #18Mephistopheles
Keys: LCB, Mephistopheles, Faust
Mephistopheles (메피스토펠레스, me-pi-seu-to-pel-re-seu) is the bus used by the LCB Team of Limbus Company. Mephistopheles is driven by Charon and is used by the Sinners and Vergilius, serving as their transport, mobile base of operations and habitation in their mission to retrieve the Golden Boughs. Mephistopheles is a rectangular, four-wheeled bus with barred windows and low fenders. The front resembles a steam locomotive's smokebox, possessing a chimney, semicircular windshield and a cowcatcher-esque bumper. Mephistopheles also possesses a hidden shredder on its side to facilitate Enkephalin extraction.
Limbus Company's personal branding are written on the side of the vehicle in all caps, whereas only "LIMBUS" is written on the front. Mephistopheles is primarily coloured red and dark gray, with silver, wavelike accents in various locations across the bus.
The interior of Mephistopheles is wide and possesses red seating (apparently with no seatbelts) and handrails/grab handles for the Sinners. The driver's cab is located on the left, decorated with various items by Charon.
Mephistopheles has a ornate doorway on its rear. Beyond it is the Backdoor, a straight, softly lit corridor with red-and-gold carpeting and wooden doors to the Sinner's rooms on each side. Gold stanchions and velvet ropes block off all but the first 8 doors; with further areas devolving into a complex system of other corridors and crossroads.
When in "busboat" (boat) form, Mephistopheles becomes significantly larger, acquires an ornate gray hull with red trim, a metal deck and a stern deck crane. The cabin remains unchanged, but now possesses a traditional ship's wheel. As a bus, Mephistopheles can easily and quickly transport the entire LCB Team, with room for additional passengers. However, it also possesses nonstandard features to assist the Sinners. The bus itself can also be used as a weapon to plow into targets. Enkephalin Extraction
The engine of Mephistopheles, designed by Faust, can use Enkephalin to generate ignition and thrust. Because Enkephalin is produced in the brain and spinal nerves (with extraction from live subjects being more effective), the bus can feed on humans for fuel: in Canto I, several live Hooligans are fed into Mephistopheles' shredder. Faust further explains that the flesh and blood can be used to maintain Mephistopheles' speed, thus conserving Enkephalin. Extraction
Using its engine and Lunacy, Mephistopheles can extract random Identities in the form of Identity Cards and E.G.O from Mirror Worlds. Faust describes the engine as using the "concept of possibilities itself" as fuel.
While the extraction range is usually 3 years into the future or past, it can increase to 10 years or more when "specific possibilities" can be clearly observed and the "borders between the mirror realities are entirely shattered", such as during Walpurgis Night. The Sinner's experiences can also gradually increase the extraction range to more Mirror Worlds. Regeneration
Mephistopheles can slowly regenerate itself using its engine. After having its stern partially crushed between two ships, it repaired the damage in a few days. The rear door of Mephistopheles leads into a vast corridor network contained entirely within the bus. Each side has doors that lead into rooms for each of the Sinners; their appearance and ambience is influenced by the Sinner's mental state but nonetheless provides them with habitation. It is described as the Sinner's lodging, personal space and cell by Dante. The door to Dante's room opens to a corridor with the entrances to the Luxcavation Dungeons, Mirror Dungeons, (both powered by the engine) and the Refraction Railway, a subway station with a self-driving train with a design scheme similar to Mephistopheles. The backdoor also possesses a breakroom.
Because Mephistopheles' engine changes and adapts with each Golden Bough retrieval, the contents of the Backdoor (namely the Mirror Dungeon) also changes with each retrieval.
Nobody is permitted to go into the unlit corridors past the Sinner's rooms. Beyond that point are a network of forked paths and crossroads that only Faust can navigate. The doors lead to different spaces depending on who opens them, allowing multiple people to use the same door for different destinations.
Deeper corridors may possess auditory and spatial anomalies. Heathcliff, Dante and Faust began "falling" sideways in one corridor. Additional hazards include being "engulfed" (which Faust does not elaborate on) and entities of obscure nature, one of which gives Heathcliff psychological damage. The fact that Heathcliff's rescue prevented a "sudden vacancy" in the LCB implies even Dante's clock is ineffective against these threats. After Molar Boatworks installs a form transmogrifier, Mephistopheles can transform into a boat capable of handling the harsh sea states of U Corp's Great Lakes. This mechanism relies on the bus' core, which is said to permit Mephistopheles the ability to change into other forms.
Endure Mode: Endure Mode was activated after encountering a Great Lakes Wave. Its exact features (aside from lengthening the deck) are unclear, but it appears to give the Sinners space for combat; the busboat was also undamaged by the Great Lakes Whale clinging onto the hull while it was active. Backup Power System: Mephistopheles can be powered by pedals on the ship's deck in the absence of power. This is a consequence of the engine melding with the navigation system, as the failure of the latter will cause both to become temporarily stop functioning. Skiff: Mephistopheles has a small, undecked skiff that just fits every Sinner. It can be propelled with its own engine or by oar. - #19Golden Bough
Keys: LCB, Golden Bough
The Golden Boughs are plantlike branches emitting an alluring golden glow. The Boughs are a potent energy source,[2] and are said to be the essence of Lobotomy Corporation's technology.[3] They stem from the abandoned L Corp. branches scattered across the City, but many have been moved from their original locations as City people snatch up Boughs for themselves. In fact, despite being a recent discovery,[1] the Golden Boughs have caught the attention of many different factions—from private companies, to Syndicates, to Wings—many of whom are interested in making use of the powers lying within them.[4] As they follow the distribution of L Corp. branches across the City, more than one Bough may be found in a single District.[1]
While the origin of the Golden Boughs is unknown, it is possible that certain Rivers had some part in their creation.[5] A connection to the Light is also probable, given that the Golden Boughs are an energy source related to Lobotomy Corporation that appear to succeed the White Nights and Dark Days. In their notes, Dante also writes that the Golden Boughs "have something to do with Mirror technology".[6]
Limbus Company seeks to collect the Golden Boughs, and the LCB department was formed specifically for this purpose. For the higher-ups, obtaining and holding on to the Boughs is of the utmost importance, to the point of Faust equating the failure of their mission to the end of the world.[7] When the Sinners successfully retrieve a Bough, it is collected by Limbus Company's After Team and taken to the company headquarters.[8] These Boughs are being grafted together into a singular "sapling" so that it might one day grow into a "tree" and bear an "apple".[9][10] As of Canto IX: The Unsevering, five more Boughs are thought to be needed for this task,[11] for a total of 12.
Dante possesses a Golden Bough shard within their prosthetic clock.[12] While this shard wasn't mentioned until Hell's Chicken, the contract made in the prologue, which must have involved a Golden Bough,[13] seems to suggest that Dante has always had this Bough in their head. This Bough grants Dante a number of abilities, such as telling Abnormalities and Distortions apart,[14] creating Dungeons of the Fathoms,[15] using the Sapling of Light powers,[16] and viewing other people's memories.[17] Dante's Bough can resonate with the other Boughs collected along their journey,[18] which enhances the powers of their own Golden Bough, and has ignited greater outside changes like the evolution of the Peccatula.[19] Dante also has the ability to sense the location of nearby Golden Boughs,[20] a trait which the Sinners share when it comes to the Bough relevant to their respective Cantos.[21][22]
The Golden Boughs are capable of a very wide variety of things, summed up as the capacity to "realize the thoughts or imaginations of people".[23] They are thought to possess unimaginable power, such as the ability to create new worlds or erase concepts from the universe.[24] Additionally, a Bough "amplifies and releases every feeling, from the hottest emotions to the warmest emotions".[25] As of now, nothing is known about how they work.
Fathoms of the Ego are places or images of someone's mind made manifest through the power of Golden Boughs.[26] Fathoms of the Ego are very common throughout Limbus Company, and both Dante's scenes of someone's memories (e.g. their vision of Ishmael drowning at sea in mid Canto V),[27][17][28] and individuals manifesting locations from their mind (e.g. Gregor's scenes of the Smoke War in Canto I), appear to count as Fathoms.[29]
Dante has the ability to peer into other people's Fathoms using the power of the Golden Bough inside of their head.[17] In these cases, Dante is able to get a glimpse of the individual's memories as they recall them.[30][31] While this has primarily occurred with the Sinners, Dante is also capable of accessing the memories of outside parties.[32] For a long time, these visions were exclusive to Dante and the person whose memories they belonged to. However, advancements in the Golden Boughs gave Dante the ability to share these scenes with the Sinners,[33] and other people relevant to the memories,[34] during Canto VIII.
A Dungeon of the Fathoms, or Mirror Dungeon of the Fathoms,[15][37] seems to be a form of the Fathoms of the Ego.[23][38] It appears to refer specifically to when a Distortion's Fathoms produce a Dungeon, and does not apply to every case of the Fathoms manifesting a physical location.[39] The major difference between physically manifested Fathoms of the Ego (e.g. Yi Sang's Reminisced League of Nine Fathoms) and Dungeons of the Fathoms (e.g. Hohenheim's Final Check-up Fathoms) appears to be that Dungeons will produce enemies to be fought within them,[40] while Fathoms of the Ego can only be occupied by whatever real entities enter naturally.[41] However, the recreation of real people as part of the memories seems to be an exception, as depicted in Gregor's Fathoms of the Smoke War. Additionally, all parties who enter a Dungeon of the Fathoms will be able to see the distorted's memories while inside.[42]
Dungeons of the Fathoms do not occur spontaneously, but are created by Dante.[15] After a Dungeon is created, a door-shaped portal will appear next to the Distortion, acting as the entrance to the Dungeon.[43] Anyone can enter through this portal.[44] The Distortions have traditionally leapt into the portal themselves,[43][45] after which the key to destroying the Mirror Dungeon of the Fathoms and bringing the distorted back to their senses is to traverse to the end of the Dungeon and defeat the Distortion in combat.[46]
- #20Dante
Keys: LBC, Dante, Manager
Dante is a relatively grounded and attentive manager with a tendency to make quips. The game opens with them purposefully wiping their memory and replacing their head with a prosthetic clock, only to be approached and recruited by Limbus Company minutes later.
distinctive prosthetic head that resembles a clock and has constantly burning flames emerging from the back and top of the prosthetic. The face of the clock lacks numbers, instead having two red circles roughly where the "10" and "11" positions would be. Additionally, the prosthetic has two golden clock hands that move forward after certain major events. Starting in the Prologue, Dante's minute hand rested at 9, then moved forward to just before 10 after Canto IV, and moved forward again to its current position of just after 10 after the events of Canto VII. Dante's flames burn black and gold, and never seem to go out.
Their uniform differs from the other Sinners, their coat being a mix of red, yellow, and white — likely due to their role as Executive Manager. 'NO. 10' is written on their coat near the lapel, along with 'DAN TE' near the end of it. They wear a red tie and a tucked long-sleeve dress shirt, with black pants and a white belt.
Compared to their twelve eccentric companions, Dante is a grounded, passive, and somewhat awkward individual who often falls in line with the LCB's antics while making snide comments and struggling to land poorly received jokes. Frequently left out of the loop and forced to ask basic questions that are met with cryptic answers, Dante initially acts as an amateurish, spineless manager acutely aware of the Sinners' lack of respect. However, starting with a turning point in Canto III and culminating in Canto VI, Dante transforms into a reliable and determined leader who tailors advice to each Sinner, earning genuine trust and confidences while retaining their quirky, bumbling day-to-day charm. Beneath this endearing exterior, Dante harbors insecurities about their total lack of amnesiac memories—which many suspect is their primary reason for staying with Limbus Company—yet they genuinely care for the crew, respecting their boundaries and struggling to deny their requests. Though viewing the dynamic as mostly professional, Dante deeply desires harmony among the group, contrasting sharply with hints from Vergilius and Faust suggesting that their mysterious, pre-amnesia "bigwig" past was far more snarky, aggressive, and ruthless. Despite these lingering dark unknowns and inherent flaws, Dante does their best with what they are given, marching resolutely through uncertainty to support their Sinners.
Dante's own head had been replaced by a prosthetic clock serving as their new face, which seemingly gives them powers comparable to absurd technologies such as Singularities.
The Sinners recruited by Limbus Company were specifically chosen because they could "resonate" with Dante's abilities, forming the "contract" with them to gain the boon of Dante's powers.
Golden Bough Resonance: Dante is able to sense where the Golden Bough are through resonating with them, able to perceive their location by "following their star". This gives Dante the visions of the Boughs as shining stars in a swirling sky; Dante can also share these visions with the Sinners through their telepathy.
Telepathy: Dante can only commune through a ticking sound, which they can alter the frequency and intensity of. Only the Sinners and a few others can understand the intended speech behind the ticks. When agitated, Dante's speech may include bell chimes and/or steam whistles. Selectivity: They are also capable of selectively limiting the recipient of their words to one person only, or to the whole group of the Sinners all at once. However because of these limitations, Dante can only verbally communicate with the Sinners and has to rely on using one them as an interpreter when relaying information or queries to anyone outside the LCB. Distortions: Dante can also understand the speech of Distortions that lost the ability to communicate using human language, this understanding extending to their subordinate entities as well. Dante can thus act as a interpreter for Distortions, relaying invaluable information to the other Sinners to achieve their missions. Faust speculates this is possible due to Dante resonating with the Golden Boughs they collected.
Turning back the clock: After Faust had Dante bind the Sinners into a "contract", Dante is capable of healing their injuries and reviving the Sinners from death, at the cost of physically feeling how they died.
Pigritia: In Canto VI, Dante creates a field that slows everything except the Sinners within a certain radius. This is used to let the Sinners catch up with Erlking Heathcliff. Superbia: In Canto VII, Dante appears to strengthen the power of a Sinner. Dante uses this on Don Quixote to help her realize her dreams. Morositas: In Canto VIII, Dante uses the strength-averaging aspect of their contract to bring the enemy, Lei Heng, down to the Sinners' level. Ira: In Canto IX, Dante uses the fiery energy of this ability to reforge the chain of their contract with Ryōshū. Afterwards, they use the strength-enhancing aspect of their contract to drastically raise Ryōshū's capabilities for the duration of the fight with the Index Nursefather.
- #21The Wings
Keys: The City, The Wings
There are a total of 26 Wings, each of which has authority over a Nest in a District. The Wings directly oversee all facets of life in their Nests and generally leave their District's Backstreets to fend for themselves. However, the Wings still remain the highest authorities of their District, and will not hesitate to punish offenders who break the rules established in that District. The laws of a Wing, called Taboos, are enforced by specialized Fixers called Taboo Hunters, who capture and/or kill any violators of the Taboos, whether in the Backstreets or the Nest. Every District has some Taboos, though each Wing handles Taboo offenders in their own way.
Each Wing has its own cultural style and social structure which are reflected in how it governs its Nest, and the policies the Wing sets also determines the way of life in the District's Backstreet. Wings have differing degrees of presence, influence, and benevolence with regards to their Backstreets, although their relationship is ultimately exploitative, even for more cooperative Wings. Security of borders between Nests and Backstreets also vary from plasma walls to mere chain fences, but the Wings' power is such that no one in the Backstreets dares to cross over into a Nest without express permission.
The only entities in the City which rival the Wings' power are the Five Fingers, a particularly infamous group of Syndicates which not even they can readily interfere with. This is presumably also one of the reasons why the Wings generally neglect the Backstreets beyond setting overall policies, as the Five Fingers have designated all the Backstreets in the City as their territory.
A Wing's position comes from its Singularity and their ability to successfully use it for commercial purposes. As such, the Wings guard information about their Singularity with lethal force and maintain patents on their Singularity and all its related technologies to avoid losing its secrets to rival Wings, industry competitors, or other forces.
Due to their prominence, joining a Wing and becoming a "feather" in their Nest is seen as the optimal path in life by the common residents of the City's Backstreets. Wings are viewed as sources of financial stability and security, as well as social refuge. However, even life under a Wing is not truly free, as the majority of Nest residents live in constant fear of producing insufficient results and being evicted from the Nest. The Wings regularly tax their feathers (separately from the taxes the Head imposes on all residents of the City), and those who cannot pay their taxes are evicted as punishment.
The process of entering a Wing is not simple, either. Wings use highly selective entrance exams which test applicants' mental prowess (but occasionally also other factors) to determine who will ultimately join its corporate machine. Entire examinee towns exist in the City where applicants study for Wing entrance exams.
Although Wings generally have specialized departments to fulfill their necessary tasks, like the WARP Cleanup Crew of W Corp., Wings can also hire Fixers or other outside groups to work for them. Offices, Associations, and even Syndicates can be hired by the Wings to perform tasks a Wing does not specialize in or does not want to be directly linked with. Being hired by a Wing is one of the top honors such a group can receive, as it represents the Wing's willingness to place trust in that group. Wings also offer high payouts for any requests they deliver.

- #23E.G.O
Keys: E.G.O, Distortion, Fixer, Colour Fixer
E.G.O (Extermination of Geometrical Organ)[1] is a type of personalized equipment manifested from an individual's mind. They usually take the form of massively powerful weapons and/or armor. This is an overarching term referring to the E.G.O that is extracted and borrowed from Abnormalities.
The E.G.O utilized within The Library and by the Sinners take on a different form than that of L Corp.'s Lobotomy E.G.O, and would likely not be classified as such. While not explained in detail, Faust indicates that these are the "base" form of E.G.O, and that Lobotomy E.G.O specifically refers to a more compressed and refined version in the form of E.G.O Weapons and Suits.[2] These "basic" E.G.O share the risk of corroding that Lobotomy E.G.O does, although it is easier to lose oneself to them than proper E.G.O Gear.[3]
All E.G.O from an Abnormality takes on the same name, regardless of its form (e.g. Magic Bullet Outis and Lobotomy E.G.O::Magic Bullet Outis or Big Bird's E.G.O Suit, Weapon, and Gift all being named Lamp).
Extracted E.G.O, including E.G.O Gifts granted by Abnormalities, can be Altered to take on different forms and functions, such as Lobotomy E.G.O::Hornet【Alteration】Meursault being able to alter the Hornet Weapon from a rifle to a shotgun.
Lobotomy E.G.O is a refined class of E.G.O compressed into the form of equipment for the sake of general utility.[2] It is more stable than what the librarians and Sinners use, and allows for longer durations of use without fear of Corrosion.[3] Lobotomy E.G.O originated from Lobotomy Corporation. However, it can also be produced by other parties under the right conditions,[4] as accomplished by Limbus Company's LCE Department with their largely similar LCE E.G.O. The term “Lobotomy E.G.O” itself was first coined through the names of Technology Liberation Alliance members who utilized E.G.O Gear they were able to obtain from one of L Corp.'s collapsed branches.
Lobotomy E.G.O is extracted through the use of unique Positive Enkephalin Boxes ("PE-Boxes"). PE-Boxes are farmed from Abnormalities, who produce Enkephalin when satisfied. The Lobotomy Corporation Art Book explains that an Abnormality technically produces two sets of PE-Boxes when happy: the general ones that the company sold to support their status as a Wing, and PE-Boxes specific to the Abnormality's subject number.[9] These more specific PE-Boxes could be used to unlock information about the Abnormality or to extract the materials necessary for producing its E.G.O Equipment.[9] The higher the Abnormality's Risk Level, the more PE-Boxes this process required.
Upon reaching a high enough Observation Level with the Abnormality, its "archetype" may be extracted using PE-Boxes, after which the Lobotomy E.G.O can.[9] In Lobotomy Corporation, there is a set limit on the number of E.G.O Suits and Weapons that may be extracted from an Abnormality, with a lower cap the greater the Risk Level. If one of the set number of E.G.O Equipment was destroyed upon the death of the Employee wearing it, a new one could be extracted to fill its spot.
LCE E.G.O refers to the E.G.O extracted and utilized by Limbus Company's LCE department. It is largely comparable to Lobotomy E.G.O in way of its form and function, given that the LCE aims to copy and surpass much of the fallen Lobotomy Corporation's work.[10] Like L Corp., the gear is composed of Weapons and Suits. However, there are still distinguishing features. In Faust's ID story, Carmen describes the LCE's E.G.O attunement to be "closer to the usage of actual E.G.O [compared to the] E.G.O gears of Lobotomy Corporation."
LCE E.G.O allows for a higher rate of attunement and synchronization with the relevant Abnormality, which can be deliberately achieved through extending understanding and empathy towards it.[11] This allows for more impressive benefits than L Corp. had been able to achieve with its E.G.O, such as flight and shape fluctuation.[11][12] Additionally, LCE E.G.O gear can cause its user to sprout inhuman features like tails.[12] Yi Sang's LCE Identity, for example, depicts him as having sprouted twigs from his head. His evade sprite also shows that it is even possible to completely change one's form in tune with the Abnormality.
However, regulating one's level of synchronization with the LCE E.G.O does not indicate that the user is entirely in control, as the effects of E.G.O Corrosion are still inevitable. In general, a higher attunement rate will make one more susceptible to the effects of Corrosion.[11]
N Corp. E.G.O refers to the E.G.O extracted and utilized by members of N Corp.'s New League of Nine Littérateurs and their troops.
N Corp. E.G.O takes a form more similar to LCE E.G.O than traditional Lobotomy E.G.O, likely reflecting another unique method of extraction. As with the other forms of Abnormality E.G.O, N Corp. E.G.O holds a risk of Corrosion. All N Corp. E.G.O users share a passive representing E.G.O Corrosion through loss of SP;[13] while the passive's name does not suggest anything out of the ordinary for E.G.O, the fact that these are the first E.G.O users in Limbus Company to possess a passive of this kind may suggest that N Corp. E.G.O is more prone to Corrosion than other types of E.G.O Gear.
E.G.O borrowed from an Abnormality possesses one major drawback in the possibility of losing one's self to the equipment. This phenomena is known as E.G.O Corrosion (Korean: E.G.O 침식, E.G.O chimsik), where the user's appearance and behavior transform to reflect the personality and destructive nature of the Abnormality the E.G.O originated from.
- #24Distortion
Keys: E.G.O, Distortion
Distortions (Hangul: 뒤틀림, Dwiteullim) are monstrous entities that arise from individuals who forsake themselves to their emotions and the lulling words of a voice heard by no one but them. The process by which humans distort is referred to as the Distortion Phenomenon.
As no official announcement regarding Distortions has been offered to the general public, the average City denizen has a poor understanding of how they work.[1] Limbus Company is one of few organizations who has stepped up as a corporation specializing in Distortion prevention, control, and research.
The Distortion Phenomenon traces its roots back to the Seed of Light project, a radical endeavor conceived by Carmen and executed by Ayin through Lobotomy Corporation to cure the deep spiritual sickness plaguing the City's populace. Intending to beam restoring Light into human minds across seven full days, the project was unexpectedly cut short after only three days due to the rebellion of the facility's secretary, Angela. This premature interruption resulted in the event known as the "White Nights and Dark Days"—three days of brilliant illumination followed by four days of total darkness—which scattered an unstable, corrupted form of the Light throughout the City and fundamentally altered the psychological potential of its inhabitants.
Merged with the Light alongside Ayin, Carmen began actively tempting individuals in moments of profound emotional crisis to indulge their rawest desires, causing them to monstrously Distort. While Ayin envisioned the Light as a means for humanity to manifest strength born of conviction and resolve—known as Effloresced E.G.O—Carmen came to believe that true freedom lay in abandoning restraint to become a Distortion. This clash of convictions within the Light created a cosmic crossroad for the people of the City: when pushed to their psychological limits, an individual can either succumb to Carmen's whispers and distort, or channel Ayin's ideal to awaken E.G.O. Even following the events of Library of Ruina, both figures remain active participants in the setting, perpetually driving souls toward either transformation or enlightenment.
Cityfolk can end up a target of the Distortion, regardless of status or location. However, it requires a particularly intense mindset and the wholehearted pursuit of one's own wishes. Angela describes those with the potential to manifest E.G.O or distort as people "who strive to accomplish what they sincerely desire, unbound by any obstacles".[22]
Then, to be susceptible to distorting, one must experience the complete breakdown of a firmly-held belief in a massive personal shock. In this state of exceptionally heightened emotion, the mind "crumbles".[23]
For example, victims of the Distortion may be shown to have been working for a meaningful, life-defining goal before realizing it cannot be carried out in a sudden and dramatic event.
o be targeted by the Distortion is to be spoken to by Carmen herself. Someone undergoing the Distortion process will hear a warm, alluring voice unable to be heard by anyone else. The voice will speak to the target about their present situation and prod them into giving into their heightened feelings, using specific words meant to make them focus on their negative emotions.
If the target chooses to embrace these feelings, agreeing with Carmen's discernment of their life, they "consent" and therefore distort. Distorting includes transforming into a being which reflects the person's ultimate feelings and desires. Stronger desires will lead to a stronger Distortion.[24]
Distortions come in all shapes and sizes, tending to appear animalistic or otherworldly, and rarely containing any visual traces of the distortee's human form. Once someone has distorted, they are consumed by the negative emotions which had been so thoroughly heightened, more or less embodying those feelings. As a result, many Distortions are violent, operating on feelings like rage or despair.
Although some Distortions are unable to be reasoned with, that is not the case for many of them. Depending on the cause for Distortion, many Distortions are capable of acting calmly or participating in regular conversation. They simply prioritize acting on the feelings that had spun them into distorting.
After enough time passes, a Distortion will turn into an Abnormality, which is an irreversible process
- #25Fixer
Keys: Fixer, E.G.O, Colour Fixer
Fixers (Hangul: 해결사, hae-gyeol-sa) are the handymen of the City, who can be hired for a wide range of contracts, ranging from everyday errands to active combat. Anyone becoming a Fixer requires a license from the Hana Association and from there they are free to take on any request so long as they report their performance back to the Association after the job is complete. The majority of Fixers will find themselves working as a part of an Office, a type of business owned and operated by Fixers that is overseen by the Associations. A rare few Fixers operate independently.
Fixers act as contractors that cover a wide variety of roles in society, working on commission. They often handle lines of work which are considered more dangerous or more specialized than those of average citizens, including direct combat, assassinations, or protection, as well as less violent roles such as trading information, espionage, investigative work or enforcing contracts. To some level, they may act as peacekeepers, being hired to take up jobs more specific to those that hire them. The specialization and accomplishments of Fixers in fields that a majority of citizens do not have allows them to garner great bounds of attention and popularity.
Despite the belief of Fixers being noble, many of them simply view the job as a way out of typical civilian work, such as Ishmael boarding The Pequod to obtain a Fixer license as a way to escape what she viewed as a monotonous life in the safety of a Nest, while also finding a quick way to make good money. The job is not without difficulty, however, as many Fixers face danger in their work, and are sometimes made targets of Syndicates, other Fixer Offices, and in the worst-case scenario, a Wing.
Many Fixers must go through rigorous training or augmentations, making use of peculiar and experimental technology or weapons to do their work more easily, safely and efficiently.
The Hana Association, as part of their general management of Fixers, assigns grades to both Fixers and Offices based on their performance. Fixers operate on a system of meritocracy, with more capable Fixers being rewarded for their work and assigned higher grades, which then allows them to charge more money when accepting contracts and being seen as capable of taking on more dangerous work.[1] When evaluating an Office or Fixer for promotion or demotion, the Hana Association makes use of the reports submitted to them by Fixers are the completion of a job, and assesses their performance.[2] Grades are based not only on strength, but also intelligence and other important factors.[3]
Fixer are ranked on a descending 9 to 1 grade scale, with new Fixers being assigned Grade 9 by default. Higher grade Fixers are expected to be capable of dealing with higher risk level threats and take on more challenging jobs. The Hana Association can demote a Fixer's grade based on poor performance or unprofessional behavior.
In the brutal society of the City, the vast majority of Fixers secure their licenses and join specialized Offices—ranging from combat and protection to gear design and business oversight—to find consistent work. Because finding independent contracts as a beginner is nearly impossible, new Fixers must take whatever work they can get until they build a reputation, while more established Offices often operate as direct affiliates or under strict contracts with the City's ruling Associations. Unaffiliated Offices are frequently viewed with suspicion by clients who fear hidden ties to dangerous Syndicates, making institutional backing crucial for survival and legitimacy.
At the pinnacle of the Fixer hierarchy are the twelve Associations, massive corporate-scale entities operating across every District that are strictly graded and regulated by the Hana Association. Each Association specializes in a distinct domain and is divided into four regional Branches and six internal Sections, where Section 1 represents the elite, highest-paid tier and Section 6 serves as the grueling entry point. By filtering contracts down to partner Offices and using regional transfers as promotions, these Associations maintain absolute control over the City's mercenary labor force.
Wings frequently contract high-grade Fixers equipped with advanced prosthetics to serve various corporate needs, with some groups—like M Corp.'s Order of the Lunar Visage—even operating like traditional Offices available for external hire. Among them, Taboo Hunters are specialized operatives deployed across Districts to relentlessly track down and capture individuals who violate corporate laws. Prioritizing the retrieval of contraband or undoing the broken rule above all else, these hunters are authorized to decapitate and preserve resisting targets in cubes for later revival rather than killing them outright.
Butlers are rare, highly sought-after Fixers who sign long-term or lifelong contracts to serve as both bodyguards and housekeepers for estates or individuals, offering high pay, job security, and potential grade advancement. While contracts for individuals often feature lucrative renewals and pensions, estate contracts are frequently generational burdens passed down through families with little hope of escape. Because these binding agreements are rigidly enforced, any Butler attempting to leave prematurely risks being hunted down by Öufi Association Fixers or Taboo Hunters for contract breach.
- #26Colour Fixer
Keys: Fixer, E.G.O, Colour Fixer
Color Fixers are the Fixers that the Hana Association has deemed to be above and beyond their typical grading scale.[4] These Fixers are expected to perform at a level that makes them the ideal choice for dealing with Star of the City level threats.[5] Color Fixers are not only the most successful, but are meant to be looked up to and admired by Fixers of lower ranks. The Hana Association chooses Color Fixers based not just on their abilities, but to inspire other Fixers to improve their abilities and climb the ranks to as high as they can go.[5] The title of a Color Fixer is given by force to any who the Hana Association deems qualifies as worthy of it, meaning that it is impossible to turn down the role.[5]
To the average Fixer, the life of a Color Fixer is one of absolute freedom, and the only thing that properly delivers on the promise of independence and self-sufficiency that many young Fixers are sold on.[6] Color Fixers are not only strong enough to protect themselves from nearly any threat, but also wealthy from the work they do and are able to pick and choose the contracts they take freely. Some Color Fixers have been seen pursuing their own, personal goals that are completely unrelated to their Fixer work, such as the Purple Tear's pursuit for her missing son. Despite this general perception of Color Fixers, some question if they can be considered truly free, as the title is forced on them with no say, and can be taken away by the Hana Association if they deem their behavior or performance unfit of such a prestigious title.[5]

- #27The Head
Keys: The Head, The City, The Wings
The Head is the leader of the Wings and the central governing body of the City. It is supported in its work by the Eye and the Claw.
While they tend not to intervene in the affairs of the various Districts, the three are always watchful of the events that unfold in the City, as a looming presence in the background of Limbus Company as well as its preceding games.
The Head, the Eye, and the Claw are the three entities in direct control of A Corp., B Corp., and C Corp.—the Districts at the very center of the City—respectively.[1] The Head governs over the other Wings and retains control over the entire City, being flanked in its functions by the Eye and the Claw.
The Head does not typically interfere directly with the affairs of the various Wings in their own Districts; rather, its greatest involvement in the life of the City consists in establishing and enforcing the rules that relate to its overall ethics. This manifests in the Head carrying the power to establish the Taboos of the City: these must be observed in every District, by citizens and Wings, as the Head does not allow those who break them to live.[2] The Eye is tasked with constantly surveilling the Cityfolk, while the Claw is tasked with taking care of any offenders, executing any that are found guilty without any possibility of appeal.[3] To ensure that the authority of the Head is respected, the Head possesses the single deadliest military force of the city, with only a couple Arbiters and Claws being more than enough to destroy entire Wings and kill swarms of Outskirts monsters by themselves while coming out completely unscathed. By contrast, everything else ranging from inhuman experiments to active attempts to utilize the Distortion Phenomenon to destroy their status quo are usually ignored.
Despite the Head's thorough control over the Nests, the Backstreets of the City can prove themselves to be difficult for the Head to manage due to direct opposition from the Five Fingers.[4] While Taboos, notably ones related to Night in the Backstreets, still cannot be broken without punishment in these areas, the Fingers' efforts to keep the Backstreets in their control are notable enough that the Head cannot easily interfere with their businesses.
The Head dictates the very image and survival of the City, using its supreme authority not merely to maintain order, but to curate a strict "ecology" that preserves its ideal vision—allowing powerful entities like the Stars of the City to persist while ruthlessly punishing anything that strays. At the apex of its hazard scale is the designation of Impuritas Civitatis, or Impurity of the City, which marks a threat to ethical boundaries that must be instantly annihilated or physically cast out. To enforce its absolute rule, the Head established the "age of humanity," strictly outlawing non-human sapient life, human-resembling AI, artificial human intelligence, human cloning beyond a seven-day limit, and human resurrection.
Beyond these existential laws, the Head oversees a vast web of city-wide Taboos ranging from tax evasion and restricted firearm manufacturing to breaking curfew and conducting unauthorized surveillance or investigations during the Backstreets Night. Violating these supreme edicts carries a near-certain death sentence for individuals and results in the immediate revocation of corporate status and total shutdown for any offending Wing.
The Head's identity is completely unknown, although it appears the term refers to a group of people rather than a singular entity.[9] Any detail regarding said identity is a closely guarded secret.
Through A Corp., the Head is responsible for authorizing Wings, managing patents and payment of fines related to them,[22] and for the minting of Ahn, the currency used in the City.[24] Through the Eye, the Head also watches over the citizens of the City constantly, with particular attention to the work of Wings and other Corporations.[25][26]
The Head is in control of the Sweepers. Sweepers are expected to abide to a set of rules provided by the Head, and they respond to it directly.[27] The Head has been shown to make use of the Sweepers to clean the remains of a site following its destruction at the hands of Arbiters and Claws, as punishment for the breaking of a major Taboo.[28] Arbiters
Arbiters are the agents of the Head. Augmented through various Singularities, Arbiters wield incredible power, capable of taking down entire Wings.
Arbiters appear to be a specialized unit for dealing with Impurities of the City, as seen by the deployment of an Arbiter to cleanse H Corp. after the creation of non-humans in the Kong Family laboratories. It is suggested that only one Arbiter is typically deployed, at the head of a group of Claws.[29][30]
Arbiters are augmented through Singularities and are able to utilize them in combat, being often seen making use of F Corp.'s fairies.[31] They also have an ability to quickly teleport out of situations should they deem it necessary.[32] Arbiters typically have human appearances, and wear a uniform featuring long black robes with golden highlights and hexagonal patterns.
Should an Arbiter find themselves stripped of their title, they will have any memory related to the secrets of the Head wiped, ensuring that even the smallest bit of information remains secure.[33] The Head also retrieves the corpses of former or deceased Arbiters, likely to prevent other parties from extracting information from them. It can be assumed that this procedure may apply to Claws and Beholders as well, as they too are privy to the Head's secrets.

Keys: The City, The Wings, Syndicates, The Thumb, The Index, The Middle, The Ring, The Pinky
"Syndicate" is a purposefully vague and broad term that can be used to describe essentially any group of people who work together in an organized, but unregulated, group.[1] Syndicates can do all sorts of activities, and be involved in various types of business, leading to groups with very little in common both being able to be referred to as a Syndicate.[2] Some Syndicates focus on extorting money from people for protection, while others abduct people, kill for fun and pleasure, or do anything in between. They can be small groups that only exist in one corner of the Backstreets or large enough to exist in every District in the City. As many Syndicates operate as a business, they have the same rights and obligations as the other businesses of the City such as being able to hold patents on technology and needing to pay taxes.[3][4]
Many Syndicates have a culture focused around replicating family dynamics, and consider each other family, with some even referring to each other with familial terms.[5] This can result in Syndicates with a strict focus on respect for those who are higher ranked or in Syndicates who care deeply for each other and protect one another at any cost.
The Five Fingers of the Backstreets are a band of Star of the City-level Syndicates that rival the Wings in power and influence.[6] Together, the Five Fingers control the Backstreets and prevent the Wings and Associations from interfering with those parts of the Districts, and even the Head cannot easily oppose their control over the Backstreets.[7] In order to keep this level of control, the Fingers periodically meet together in a conference known as the “Finger Bow-Bell” to discuss how best to maintain their hold over the Backstreets.[7]
Most of the time, however, the Five Fingers are rivals to each other, and fight over territory and other disputes. As seen with the fall of L Corp., the Fingers are quick to move in and attempt to claim the Nest of a fallen Wing as their own.
Each Finger has a distinct culture, with a harsh set of rules they expect to be followed by any who work with them. Like smaller Syndicates, the Fingers offer protection to residents of the Backstreets at a cost, with the tasks expected of the person seeking protection varying from Finger to Finger. Additionally, other Syndicates can become subsidiaries of a Finger, giving them a powerful connection so long as they provide support to the Finger and follow the orders given to them.
There are some groups that do not have enough power and influence to be considered as a proper Syndicate, but are made up out of gangsters and thugs who perform similar activities to legitimate Syndicates.[8] Members of these groups are called Rats, and they exist in high numbers in the Backstreets. Many Rats dream of one day joining a proper Syndicate, but Syndicate members and outsiders look down on them as too incompetent to accomplish anything worthy of recognition.[9][10] That said, some Rats who do find membership in a real Syndicate sometimes miss the simpler life of a Rat. When compared to a true Syndicate, the Rats are typically much closer to each other due to the lack of a hierarchy.
Syndicates are typically an enemy of Fixers, but they are, on a broader scale, complimentary parts of the City that can't exist without each other. Syndicates and their violent activities are the cause of many of the problems Fixer Offices accept contracts to handle, meaning that while their job is to kill Syndicate members, many Fixers would be out of work if they were to completely go away.[12] While some Offices look down on the idea of having to associate with Syndicates, others gladly accept contracts from them.[13] There are even a number of Offices that have direct ties with Syndicates.[14]
One way for a Syndicate to gain notoriety and become well known is to do an 'Office raid', attacking a Fixer Office with the goal to kill as many members as they can.[15] This is done with the goal of obtaining fame and attention from other Syndicates and Offices, and establishing their strength relative to the Office they attacked. However, not all Syndicates have such complex motivations for attacking Offices and instead do it out of mere boredom.[16]
At times, Syndicates and Fixer Offices are more similar than they are different. Some Syndicates operate more like Offices, and take on more noble jobs such as attacking other Syndicates rather than civilians or extorting others for money.[17] The only true difference between some Syndicates and an actual Office is if the members have Fixer licenses.[18] In fact, Syndicate members can do Fixer work as long as they have a license, and some Fixers engage in Syndicate business as well.

Thumb: The Thumb is a Finger that imposes a strict, absolute hierarchy over its territories. Thumb members expect anybody they encounter to follow their hierarchy, whether they are associated or not, and impose a varying level of violent punishment on those who defy it. All people who interact with the Thumb are expected to follow their rules. This imposing of hierarchy is why the Thumb is ranked as the most intimidating Finger to encounter by Fixers, as any Fixer who accidentally engages with a rank they should not be talking to will be purged.
The Index: The Index is a Finger that follows seemingly-random orders called Prescripts. All members of the Index and people in Index territories are required to follow Prescripts, despite how insane or impossible the assigned tasks may seem. The completion of all Prescripts somehow benefit the Index, and Prescripts seemingly have the power to predict fate.
The Middle: The Middle is a Finger that follows a close familial structure. The Middle is known for delivering "Vengeances" onto any outsiders who commit slights against the Syndicate and its subsidiaries, who are viewed as part of the Middle's "family". Punishments are conducted in accordance to the Book of Vengeance, a multi-title tome that all Middle members carry with them, providing specific instructions on how to commit Vengeances for every possible infraction, no matter how esoteric the sin may seem.[22]
The Middle never forgets, and escaping them is only temporary. Whether it's a minor infraction, or running away from the organization,[23] the Middle will chase down anybody who commits a slight against them until the proper punishment is delivered.
The Ring: The Ring is a Finger focused on self-expression and the creation of artwork. The Ring focuses on visual mediums, namely paintings and sculptures. Ring paintings typically depict brutal violence, and Ring sculptures are usually comprised of corpses—and, occasionally, living humans.[24] The Ring manages art galleries across the Backstreets of the City.
The Ring is split into various schools of art, each of which are competitive and view their own style as the correct method for creating art.[25] Civilians under Ring protection are also expected to complete assignments and show proper artistic aptitude, or risk removal of the Ring's protection, and execution if they repeatedly fail.
The Pinky: The Pinky is a Finger shrouded in mystery, and many elements of how the Finger operates are still unknown. Members of the Pinky hide amongst the rest of society, infiltrating other Syndicates, including even the other Fingers, and organizations. Their status as a member of the Pinky is kept secret, even to other members of the Pinky unless they have been ordered to gather.[26][27]
The Pinky has a set number of seats, each with their own associated title named after a star, that are filled by its members. When a seat becomes vacant, a new seat holder will take their name and title.
