Upon discovery of his actions, he argued to a horrified Seo-bi that the well-being of the villagers was more important than respecting the dead. He is often seen as stern and cunning, not caring about the feelings and hesitations of others. Beneath his aloof nature, he is a very caring person and expresses his compassion through actions (for example, when he tried to save a woman and her baby during the destruction of Dongnae).
