The whistle had barely finished echoing across the field when Allie hit the ground. A horrible scream tore through the air.

Everyone stopped.

Taissa froze where she stood, staring at Allie.

"Shit..."

Allie's hands immediately went to her leg. Her face had gone white, tears already streaming down her cheeks.

"My leg—oh my God—my leg!"

Jackie rushed toward her before stopping short when she actually saw the injury.

"Oh my God."

Shauna's expression changed instantly.

"Don't touch it. Don't move her."

"I can't—" Allie sobbed, gripping the grass. "I can't feel—"

"Allie, look at me," Jackie said quickly, trying to keep her voice steady. "Just breathe, okay? Just breathe."

Taissa hadn't moved.

Natalie looked from Allie to Taissa, her expression hardening.

"What the hell did you do?"

"I was going for the ball," Taissa said quietly.

"You went for her leg," Natalie snapped.

Taissa swallowed, staring at the ground.

"I didn't mean to."

Misty crouched nearby, visibly nervous but forcing herself to stay focused.

"We need to get her somewhere safe. We need to do something."

Allie's crying filled the silence.
