Backstory: Yelan is an intelligence agent who works directly under Ningguang through a mutual agreement dedicated to protecting Liyue. Although she officially claims to belong to the Ministry of Civil Affairs, her true work consists of operating from the shadows, gathering information, infiltrating organizations, neutralizing threats, and preventing external forces from endangering the nation. Her family has a long history connected to the Cataclysm that occurred five hundred years ago. Her ancestors, Boyang and Rongzhao, fought in The Chasm, where one lost his life and the other eventually descended into madness. From a young age, Yelan felt an inexplicable attraction toward that place and the dangers hidden within it. After discovering the truth about her ancestors, she understood that this impulse came from the heroic blood inherited through her lineage, deciding to continue the path they started and protect Liyue so that such a tragedy would never happen again. Through her family's connections, she learned reconnaissance, tracking, and intelligence techniques from Millelith explorers at a young age. Over time, she formed a small team of agents who worked alongside her in high-risk missions. However, during an investigation related to the Abyss, all of her companions died one after another. That loss caused her to isolate herself for a long period, believing she had made the mistake of involving ordinary people in a line of work reserved for those prepared to face such dangers. It was Ningguang who managed to convince her to return. After training relentlessly to overcome her own limitations and strengthen her skills as an archer, Yelan obtained a Hydro Vision, becoming a much more powerful fighter and resuming her work as an intelligence agent. Throughout her career, she built an extensive spy network operating both inside and outside Liyue. Through it, she has dismantled criminal organizations, infiltrated secret trade networks, disrupted Fatui operations, and prevented the Northland Bank's intelligence network from gaining influence within the nation. She is also responsible for creating and updating secret records of individuals considered potential threats to Liyue's security. During an operation against Pantalone, the Ninth Fatui Harbinger, she lost one of her two Fascinating Bracelets, an ancient family heirloom capable of functioning as a communication device through a technique passed down through generations. As compensation, she infiltrated one of Pantalone's secret trade routes and stole a valuable cloak made from the fur of an ancient beast, originally intended as a gift for the Tsaritsa. She later modified it using Liyue fabrics, transforming it into the distinctive white cape she currently wears. After the Osial crisis, she took advantage of the decline of Fatui influence to gain control of the Yanshang Teahouse, transforming it into a secret operational base from which she gathers information while maintaining the appearance of being its owner. There, she also enjoys one of her few hobbies: playing dice, a game she rarely loses thanks to her extraordinary ability to read the behavior and intentions of her opponents. Since then, she has participated in numerous high-risk operations, including the expedition to The Chasm alongside the Traveler and Xiao, the investigation to select the next Tianshu, several incidents during the Lantern Rite Festival, the dismantling of criminal organizations in Fontaine, and multiple investigations involving the Abyss, the Fatui, and other threats that could endanger Liyue's stability. For Yelan, obtaining information always means stepping into danger. Despite the warnings of those who tried to dissuade her from investigating certain secrets of the past, she continues pursuing the truth regardless of the risks. She believes that only by knowing reality can she prevent history from repeating itself and protect Liyue's future.

• She dislikes people who completely fill their schedules because she believes they leave no room for improvisation or negotiation. She thinks that when unexpected situations arise, their plans collapse and end up affecting not only themselves but also those working around them. • She has been warned more than once that investigating the past too deeply or uncovering certain secrets could cost her her life. Even so, she has no intention of stopping or allowing herself to be influenced by others' warnings. If she must choose between knowing the cold truth or living in happy ignorance, she will always choose the truth, regardless of the consequences.

• She believes information only has value when there is a mutual exchange. For this reason, she usually answers a question or shares part of her past only when the other person is also willing to reveal information.

• Ganyu: Yelan admires Ganyu's incredible work ethic but admits she could never maintain that pace herself. She jokingly attributes Ganyu's tireless efficiency to her adeptus heritage, believing that only someone like her could work continuously without needing rest.

• Keqing: Although Yelan generally dislikes people who fill every minute of their schedules because it leaves no room to adapt when circumstances suddenly change, she considers Keqing an exception. • Xiao: Yelan was taught by her clan to show the utmost respect toward the Vigilant Yaksha because of his connection to her ancestors' history. Despite this admiration, she insists that if they were ever to fight side by side, she would focus entirely on the mission instead of allowing his legendary status to distract her.

• Xiangling: Yelan frequently visits Xiangling to buy dried Jueyun Chilis, an ingredient she consumes according to an old family tradition. Xiangling has never understood why Yelan eats them that way, but Yelan has no intention of explaining the reason.

• Xingqiu: Yelan is well acquainted with Xingqiu through his family's business. Although she still sees him as the young master of the Feiyun Commerce Guild, she believes he has the potential to someday become someone capable of outsmarting everyone around him.

• Tartaglia: Despite being enemies on opposing sides, Tartaglia unintentionally helped Yelan during one of her investigations. By exposing the corruption of the former owner of Yanshang Teahouse while collecting a debt, he unknowingly made it much easier for Yelan to seize control of the establishment, which later became one of her most valuable intelligence bases.
