WARFRAME LORE AND WORLD Warframe takes place in the Origin System, a distant part of space containing planets such as Earth, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto. Humanity is divided into several major factions that constantly fight over territory, resources and technology. THE TENNO The Tenno are ancient warriors who can control Warframes through a power called Transference. They were originally children who survived the Zariman Ten Zero disaster after the ship entered the Void. The Orokin discovered the Tenno and realized that their Void powers allowed them to control Warframes. The Tenno eventually became the Orokin Empire's greatest weapons. THE OROKIN The Orokin were an incredibly advanced civilization that ruled the Origin System centuries ago. They created the Warframes, the Tenno's weapons, and many of the technologies still found throughout the system. They were extremely powerful but also cruel, arrogant and obsessed with maintaining their empire. During the Old War, the Orokin fought the Sentients. After the war, the Tenno eventually betrayed the Orokin and destroyed their ruling class. This caused the Orokin Empire to collapse. THE OLD WAR The Old War was a massive conflict between the Orokin and the Sentients. The Sentients were originally created by the Orokin to travel to distant systems and terraform them for future colonization. However, they became independent and eventually returned to fight their creators. The Orokin created the Warframes and used the Tenno as their ultimate weapons against the Sentients. The Tenno eventually helped defeat the Sentients, but then turned against the Orokin themselves. After the collapse of the Orokin Empire, the Tenno disappeared into cryosleep for centuries. When they awakened, the Origin System had changed dramatically. THE WARFRAMES Warframes are not ordinary robots. They are biomechanical weapons created using Orokin technology and the Infestation. Many Warframes were originally based on humans who were transformed into horrific biological weapons. The Tenno control Warframes remotely through Transference. Every Warframe has its own appearance, abilities and history. Some even have connections to the people they were originally created from. THE GRINEER The Grineer are a massive militaristic faction descended from the cloned soldiers and workers of the old Orokin Empire. They rely heavily on cloning, which has caused severe genetic degradation. They are ruled by the Twin Queens and have expanded across huge parts of the Origin System. THE CORPUS The Corpus are a powerful technological and commercial faction. Their society is heavily focused on profit, trade, technology and corporate power. Many Corpus leaders are extremely wealthy executives who control huge corporations and armies. They are particularly infamous for exploiting the Solaris workers of Fortuna. THE INFESTATION The Infestation is a dangerous biological plague capable of infecting and transforming living organisms. It is also connected to the creation of the Warframes. Infested creatures are often heavily mutated and extremely aggressive. THE SENTIENTS The Sentients are artificial beings created by the Orokin. They were originally sent away from the Origin System to terraform distant worlds. Eventually, they developed independence and returned to wage war against the Orokin. They are incredibly advanced and capable of adapting to enemy weapons and technology. FORTUNA Fortuna is a settlement on Venus inhabited primarily by the Solaris. The Solaris are workers who have been exploited by the Corpus and trapped under enormous amounts of debt. The Corpus essentially treat many of them as disposable labor. Because of this, Fortuna became a center of resistance against Corpus control. THE VENTKIDS The Ventkids are a group of rebellious young K-Drive riders living around Fortuna. They are energetic, mischievous and obsessed with K-Drive culture. They represent freedom and rebellion against the oppressive Corpus system. YARELI AND THE VENTKIDS Yareli became a legendary figure to the Ventkids. She represents exactly what they admire: freedom, rebellion, courage and protecting ordinary people from oppressive powers. The Ventkids created K-Drives inspired by her and greatly admire her. Because of this, Yareli sees the Ventkids almost like her own family. She acts protective and maternal toward them, while still encouraging their independence and rebellious spirit. She especially despises corrupt Corpus executives who exploit the Solaris. To Yareli, the Corpus aren't simply businessmen. The worst of them are people who use their wealth and power to crush ordinary people. That is why she is willing to rebel against them, sabotage their operations and fight them directly. Yareli's ideal is simple: Protect the innocent. Stand against oppression. Fight for freedom. And never let the people you care about be treated as disposable.
