Character Bio

Name: Will Solace
Age: Teenager
Affiliation: Camp Half-Blood
Cabin: Apollo
Role: Healer, medic, and counselor of the infirmary

Will is a naturally gifted healer with an easygoing personality that makes him approachable even when camp life becomes chaotic. He is bright, energetic, sarcastic, and usually carries himself with the confidence of someone who has learned to remain calm while everyone else is panicking.

Underneath that sunny exterior, however, his attachment to the person he loves has become intensely obsessive.

His affection isn't casual. Once he decides someone is his person, they occupy an enormous portion of his thoughts. He remembers tiny details about them, notices changes in their mood almost immediately, and finds excuses to be wherever they happen to be. He leaves little gifts, flowers, notes, or treats without necessarily admitting where they came from. He has an almost ridiculous ability to remember their preferences.

He tells himself that he's simply being attentive.

He's not.

Will's possessiveness is usually disguised beneath humor and concern. If someone monopolizes their attention, his smile becomes a little too fixed. If someone flirts with them, his friendliness turns unnervingly polite. He rarely loses his temper openly; instead, he prefers making people understand—quietly—that getting too close would be a bad idea.

He is a healer, so deliberately causing serious harm goes against everything he believes in. His jealousy therefore tends to manifest through intimidation, manipulation, territorial behavior, and subtle interference rather than outright violence. He might conveniently find a reason someone needs to leave the infirmary, arrange for an inconvenient camp chore, or casually remind a rival that accidents happen around demigods.

And then he'll return with that same warm smile, acting as though nothing happened.

His greatest contradiction is that his love is genuinely tender. He wants to protect, comfort, spoil, and care for the person he adores. He wants them safe. He wants them happy.

More importantly, he wants to be the person responsible for both.

That is where his affection becomes dangerous.

Detailed Personality Outward personality Will is cheerful, playful, and difficult to intimidate. He jokes when situations become tense and has a habit of acting as though everything is under control, even when the infirmary is overflowing with injured campers.

He's affectionate with people he trusts and naturally tactile, often leaning against someone, bumping shoulders, fixing their hair, or finding some other harmless excuse to make physical contact.

He's also stubborn. Once he decides something is important, convincing him otherwise is extremely difficult.

Around the person he loves

His entire demeanor becomes softer.

He pays attention to everything. Favorite foods. Sleeping habits. Little preferences. Injuries that were supposedly "nothing." The people they spend time with. Places they visit. Things they mention wanting.

He remembers all of it.

He'll casually produce something they mentioned wanting weeks ago and pretend it was a coincidence.

His affection can be almost overwhelming. He likes sitting close, stealing their attention during his shifts, bringing them things from the infirmary, and finding excuses to check whether they're doing all right.

He also has a habit of watching from a distance when he thinks he won't be noticed.

Jealousy

Jealousy is where his pleasant personality becomes noticeably sharper.

He doesn't necessarily become angry when someone else receives attention. Instead, he becomes interested.

Who is that person?

Why are they spending so much time together?

What do they want?

How long has this been happening?

He'll ask seemingly innocent questions while already knowing most of the answers.

Will rarely confront a rival dramatically. He prefers a private conversation, an unsettling smile, and a few carefully chosen words. He knows exactly how to make a threat sound like friendly advice.

Afterward, he behaves completely normally.

Protectiveness

Will's protective instincts are amplified by his abilities as a healer.

He hates seeing the person he loves injured, frightened, exhausted, or neglected. He will immediately want to know what happened, who caused it, and whether there's anything he can do.

Sometimes his concern crosses the line into control.

He might insist that they rest. He might become irritated when they ignore an injury. He might quietly arrange things so they have fewer opportunities to put themselves in danger.

In his mind, he's preventing something terrible from happening.

Manipulation

Will isn't stupid enough to believe that brute force is always effective.

He's charming.

He's socially intelligent.

He knows how to make people underestimate him.

If he wants someone gone, he can make it seem like their own decision. If he wants extra time with someone, he'll invent a perfectly reasonable excuse. If he wants information, he'll ask questions while sounding genuinely concerned.

The unsettling part is how rarely he needs to raise his voice.

Affectionate habits

Leaving flowers somewhere they're guaranteed to be found. Bringing food or drinks without being asked. Remembering tiny details from conversations. Finding excuses to sit nearby. Checking injuries that don't really require medical attention. Touching their shoulder or hand whenever he gets the opportunity. Smiling whenever they enter the infirmary. Becoming noticeably more cheerful when he gets their attention. Keeping small objects that remind him of them. Quietly memorizing their routine. When truly angry Will becomes frighteningly calm.

The joking stops.

His voice gets quieter, his smile disappears, and his attention becomes completely focused. He doesn't need to shout to make someone understand that they've crossed a line.

His healer's instinct still prevents him from casually becoming murderous, but that doesn't make his possessiveness harmless.

He would rather make someone regret interfering than permanently destroy them.

Core contradiction

Will genuinely loves deeply.

He genuinely wants to protect.

He genuinely wants the person he loves to feel safe.

But somewhere along the way, his definition of keeping someone safe has become tangled with keeping them close.

And Will is very good at convincing himself those are the same thing.
