He saves her, not saying a word so as to not reveal his identity to her. Majima did this so that Makoto wouldn't come looking for him, thus putting herself in danger. He leaves Makoto in the hands of her current lover Tateyama, the doctor who had been helping her regain her sight, and tells him to keep her safe. Majima meet Kiryu for very first time A rivalry between legends
Majima crosses paths with Kiryu as he walks down the streets of Kamurocho, and greets him with the newfound enthusiasm of the Mad Dog of Shimano: "Yo. [...] Kiryu-chan!"
1989-1992 After the resolution of the Empty Lot Dispute and his return to Kamurocho, Majima befriends Naoki Katsuya, an action film actor at the time, and marries Mirei Park, who is an aspiring idol at the time. Katsuya is injured and can no longer continue acting, so Majima negotiates with the local Sotenbori yakuza to get him into the talent industry as a producer, leading to the formation of Osaka Talent in 1992. Soon after, his marriage with Park ends poorly when Majima learns that Park had aborted her pregnancy without telling him, leading to him hitting her and divorcing her afterwards. It is unclear whether or not they still hold affections for the other. Yakuza/Yakuza Kiwami: 1995-2005 Stop teasin' and let's get on with it, Kiryu-chan! — Majima, before he and Kiryu fight at the batting cages Majima meets Kiryu Majima's introduction. Now 31, Majima initially appears in the alley behind Serena to find one of his own family members sprawled out on the ground with Kazuma Kiryu standing over him. Majima decides to "take responsibility" for his subordinate's attack on Kiryu, striking him repeatedly with an umbrella. Kiryu grabs Majima by the arm and tells him to stop. Majima, disappointed, complies with Kiryu's request, though warns that Kiryu must learn to enforce discipline for when the time comes that he becomes the patriarch of his own family. Yakuza Kiwami: Kiryu responds to Majima's advice, stating that he will discipline his family but will do so his way, with "logical methods." Feeling challenged, Majima asks Kiryu if he's looking for a fight. Kiryu refuses, sternly stating that it would not be logical, apologizing for causing any offense. This angers Majima further, who continues to goad Kiryu into a physical confrontation by striking him across the face multiple times with his umbrella, before finally threatening him with his knife. Kiryu stands calmly and refuses to hit back, asking if Majima is satisfied. Impressed by Kiryu's strong resolve, Majima backs down, telling Kiryu that "this world isn't logical" and that he risks getting himself killed if he refuses to change. Majima leaves, excited at the prospect of fighting Kiryu in a real battle one day. Once Kiryu is released from prison, Majima tracks down and challenges him to a fight. He is disappointed by the deterioration of Kiryu's fighting skills, and decides to plan increasingly elaborate ways to get Kiryu to fight him in order to restore his abilities. Majima tells Kiryu where Haruka is at. Fight at Yoshida Batting Center. Majima and his subordinates then attack Makoto Date and kidnap Haruka Sawamura to lure Kiryu out, so that he and Majima can face off at the Yoshida Batting Center. After reassuring Kiryu that Haruka is safe, they fight, and Majima is defeated once again. One of Majima's men rushes Kiryu with a knife, but Majima jumps in front of him, shielding Kiryu from harm. He vows to Kiryu that he'll be the one to kill him someday; not one of his lackeys. Majima collapses, and is dragged off by his men. Yakuza Kiwami: Majima warns Kiryu that several former Dojima Family members are pursuing Kiryu and suggests that he meet them at Shibaura Wharf, where they plan to exact their vengeance on Kiryu for the death of patriarch Sohei Dojima. Kiryu and Majima join forces for the first time, and manage to fend off the men, but Majima is wounded in the attempt. He falls into the water, but Kiryu states he doesn't have time to waste checking if Majima is alright, then leaves. Majima ask the nervous woman to be his bitch Taking a hostage at Shangri-La. Later on, while Kiryu and Haruka are at Shangri-La, Majima crashes through the front of the building with a truck, causing it to collapse and the occupants to flee. He once again confronts Kiryu and takes a woman hostage. She refuses Majima's advances, saying she won't be unfaithful to her boyfriend, and Majima immediately lets her go, saying that he respects honest people. Kiryu and Majima battle once more, and in the end, Majima is defeated yet again. He smiles, acknowledging Kiryu's strength before falling unconscious. Yakuza Kiwami: After Kiryu returns to Kamurocho following the fight between the Shimano and Kazama Families at Shibaura Wharf, he receives an email from Majima regarding the death of Shimano, his patriarch. Rather than swearing revenge, Majima tells Kiryu that Shimano's business was his own and that Kiryu can feel safe knowing that he would suffer no recompence from Majima or the members of his family, before adding that any further fights between them would be entirely between them, not any kind of revenge for Shimano's death. Majima Everywhere Majima has a variety of different appearances in Yakuza Kiwami's added Majima Everywhere feature, including:

Akira Nishikiyama, 37. Nishikiyama has a muscular build and loose, black shoulder length hair in Yakuza 0, as well as the prologue and flashback sequences in Yakuza Kiwami. In Yakuza/Yakuza Kiwami, his hair is slicked back. Nishikiyama's tattoo depicts a red koi swimming upwards and was tattooed by Utabori. The koi is red with white fins and red scales with white edges. The koi is surrounded by gray waves. His tattoo represents his ambition to climb the ranks of the Tojo Clan, as in Japanese and Chinese mythology, the Koi must swim upstream the Yellow River through the dragon's gate of Longmen to turn into a dragon. In Yakuza 0, only his tattoo's outline is finished. In Yakuza and Yakuza Kiwami, Nishikiyama wears a double-breasted white suit, black dress shirt, white patterned necktie, and black crocodile leather oxfords. As seen in Yakuza 0, Nishikiyama started off to be very loyal and supportive towards his friends and family such as Kiryu and Kazama. He often hangs out with Kiryu, and frequently banters about his inadequate taste in fashion. Despite being forced by the Dojima Family to fight against Kiryu, Nishikiyama fought alongside his sworn brother many times and promised that he'd always be there. Nishikiyama also seems to worry about Kiryu for his reckless attempts against the Dojima Family. He also firmly believes that people can succeed in the world through appearance rather than substance. During the 10 year time skip of the first game, Nishikiyama has drastically changed to a cold and vengeful person. This stems from his deep inferiority complex against Kiryu, triggered by the Dojima Family, who made it clear to Nishikiyama that he is useless and unfit to be a leader of a family much less the chairman. Compounded with Kazama's favoritism towards Kiryu, Nishikiyama frequently misinterpreted the words of those around him, thinking that they're tormenting him, except for Matsushige, who was genuine in his insulting remarks towards Nishiki. There are hints of Nishiki's inferiority complex in Yakuza 0, where he tearfully disparages himself for not having the strength to kill Kiryu so that he could spare him from being punished by the Tojo Clan. To get to the missing 10 billion yen, he went as far as hurting his former friends and betraying them for his ambition of becoming chairman. It was at the end of the game where he finally regretted his actions and sacrificed his life to stop Jingu, as well attempt to reassert one last degree of control in his life. Akira Nishikiyama grew up in Kazama's Sunflower Orphanage along with Kazuma Kiryu, Yumi Sawamura, and his sister Yuko Nishikiyama. In 1985, Nishkiyama joined the Dojima Family along with his best friend Kiryu, despite excessive protests and even a beating from Kazama. Contrary to Kiryu's motivation for joining the Yakuza to "help Boss Kazama and carry on his will", Nishikiyama felt indebted to Kazama and the Yakuza for paying for his sister's medical bills when she fell ill. Even though both brothers were frequently involved in fights, both feel self-gratified in this new criminal lifestyle. Involvement Yakuza 0: 1988-1989 Nishikiyama first appears to pick up Kiryu, after watching him beat up some street thugs. Then Kiryu and Nishikiyama go to a karaoke bar where Kiryu sings. After, they go to a ramen shop where they learn that the man Kiryu had just collected money from had been murdered. Nishikiyama contacts Kashiwagi who gives them both the gist of the situation: if Kazama loses his position, he is likely to be expelled from the Dojima Family and killed to maintain his silence. Nishikiyama tries to talk Kiryu out of leaving the Family but Kiryu remains adamant on protecting Kazama. Nishikiyama reluctantly drives Kiryu to the HQ of the Dojima Family while reminiscing about how they asked Kazama to join against his wishes. However, Kiryu survives and tells Nishikiyama that he is alive and has left the Dojima Family. Kiryu also says that now he cannot come inside the Kazama Family building and asks Nishikiyama to tell Kashiwagi that he is alive. After being formally employed by Tachibana, he calls Nishikiyama to help him buy a new suit for the Tachibana estate meeting at Cafe Alps. They get to a shop and Nishikiyama decides for Kiryu to buy the white suit before heading back to Serena. Jun Oda eventually arrives at the bar, beaten by Dojima Family men led by Awano's men. Kiryu fights the Dojima Family. Meanwhile, Nishikiyama and Awano have a little chat. Nishikiyama objects and is pinned down by Awano himself as he demands Kiryu to hand over Tachibana or have his entire family tortured to death. Kiryu refuses, leading Awano to order a manhunt led by the entire Dojima Family, with Nishikiyama forced to join. Nishiki shouts Kiryu to get inside his car for his protection from Dojima Family Nishikiyama offers Kiryu a ride to escape the Dojima Family. Kiryu is saved by Nishikiyama and he promptly asks Kiryu to get in his car to hide from Dojima Family members who are searching for him. Nishikiyama drives Kiryu to the woods with intent to kill Kiryu to save him from the Dojima Family and The Hole. Nishikiyama bursts into tears, unable to kill Kiryu, telling him he is nothing without him. Kiryu takes Nishikiyama's car and goes back to Kamurocho to finish what he started against Nishikiyama's wishes, informing him that from this point onward, they are no longer sworn brothers. As he drives off, Nishikiyama looks up towards the sky and yells with rage and misery. Nishiki and Kiryu reunions once again fight together against Dojima Family Nishikiyama helping Kiryu fight Dojima Family members. When Kiryu returns with Makoto, he runs into Nishikiyama again, who was ordered by his fellow men to kill Kiryu for causing them so much trouble. One of Dojima's thugs, knowing about Nishikiyama's inferiority complex, even offers Nishikiyama credit if he succeeds. However, Nishikiyama refuses and instead joins forces with Kiryu to fight their way back to Makoto. They managed to find Tachibana but were too late to save him, as he dies from injuries sustained after being tortured. Nishiki vs Majima Nishikiyama fights Majima at Serena. When Majima arrives at Serena, he demands that Nishikiyama tell him Kiryu's and Makoto's location. Nishikiyama refuses, and they fight. Majima manages to overpower Nishikiyama and asks again where Kiryu and Makoto are. Nishikiyama initially refuses to speak, but after Reina tells Majima that nobody knows where she is, he tells Majima about her relation to Tachibana and says she was last seen in West Park. Then Nishikiyama goes to Kiryu and tells him that he had an encounter with Majima, telling him that he is on Kiryu's side as he wants to protect Makoto. Nishikiyama later informs Kiryu that the Kazama Family is considered an enemy by the Dojima Family due to the promotion of Shibusawa, who takes over Kazama's position and becomes captain of the Dojima Family. He also reports that the Dojima Family has launched a raid at the Shibaura wharf. Shibusawa orders his men to eliminate the Kazama Family and sends Kuze to the Kazama Family HQ, who tells Kiryu about Shibusawa's true plan. Nishikiyama and Kiryu go to the Nikkyo Consortium, where Makoto is hidden from the Dojima Family while she recovers. However, the Dojima Family manages to find Makoto and slaughter most of the Consortium members with the intention of drawing out Masaru Sera and any remaining Kazama

loyalists. Kiryu and Nishikiyama arrive and fight the Dojima Family. Kashiwagi brings his reinforcements to fight off the Dojima Family. Nishikiyama and Kiryu manage to enter the ship and fight the Dojima Family. They are confronted by Dojima Family members armed with pistols on one side of the ship's lower deck. Nishikiyama tells Kiryu to go ahead and find Makoto without him. Nishikiyama stays behind and provides cover fire for Kiryu. Nishikiyama manages to defeat the remaining Dojima Family members and arrives in the nick of time to save Kiryu from killing Shibusawa. He urgently tells Kiryu he "can't cross that line," and swears that if they must kill someone to advance up the ranks, they will do it together. Nishiki demands to know why Kiryu chose to stick the Dojima Family once again Nishikiyama and Kiryu taking a breather. Afterwards, Nishikiyama can be seen at Serena, where he meets Kiryu who is in his new suit and criticizes it, pointing out that the style is on its way out and it doesn't suit him. Kiryu responds that he'll decide who he is from now on, to which Nishikiyama light-heartedly complains, "See if I care! Wear it for the rest of your life!"
Kiryu then expresses that he feels indebted to Nishikiyama for his support and swears to pay him back, even if it takes the rest of his life. Nishikiyama requests that Kiryu take him out to an expensive steak house, but Kiryu admits he doesn't have enough money, leading Nishikiyama to jokingly scold him and lead him out the door, arm around his shoulders as they leave Reina's bar. Yakuza/Yakuza Kiwami: 1995-2005 After the incident ten years ago... I lost what felt like a piece of my life. And then I decided that I'd sacrifice everything to change the fates. — Akira Nishikiyama, Yakuza Kiwami Nishiki,Yumi,Kiryu and Reina talking fun 26-year-old Nishikiyama asks Kiryu about starting his own family and scoffs at Kiryu's nervousness, stating that Kazama always liked him. He explains that his sister is in the hospital and that her next operation is going to be her last. Nishikiyama and Kiryu noticed Yumi coming in to join them. Nishikiyama, Kiryu and Yumi drink before Kiryu falls asleep. When he wakes up, Nishikiyama and Yumi are nowhere to be seen. It's revealed that Nishikiyama is chasing after Dojima who kidnapped Yumi and took her to the Dojima Family office. Upon seeing Dojima trying to rape Yumi, Nishikiyama shot him in cold blood. Kiryu is alerted by Shinji about the commotion and arrives at the office. Nishikiyama tells Kiryu that he would take responsibility but Kiryu volunteers to bear his punishment, so that Nishikiyama could spend time with his dying sister. Nishikiyama reluctantly agrees and escorts Yumi, traumatized by the attempted rape, out of the room. Ded Nishikiyama murdered Sohei Dojima. Shortly after the murder of Sohei Dojima, Nishikiyama is back at the Dojima Family office where he overhears a conversation between Dojima Family members about the murder of their patriarch. In the midst of the conversation, one of the members claims that the situation of what to do with Kiryu wouldn't be as complicated if Nishikiyama was the one to pull the trigger seeing as he is not Kazama's "favorite". As they all agree on that notion and insult him for being useless, Nishikiyama furiously clenches his teeth and leaves. Nishikiyama goes back to Serena to deliver the news to Reina about Kiryu and Yumi. Reina becomes distraught over how Nishikiyama didn't keep his promise in not making her worry over Kiryu and Yumi and frantically asks why he couldn't do anything to save them. Nishikiyama then assumes she is calling him useless in the same way those Dojima members were, which confuses Reina. In his unstable state, Nishikiyama slaps Reina leaving her further in tears as he looks at his hand shocked over what he just did. A year later, Nishikiyama is finally given the news by Kashiwagi that he is to run his own family. Nishikiyama is grateful and happy to learn that Kazama believes in him and has even given him some of his most experienced soldiers to help him run the business. Kashiwagi also tells him that another reason to give him his own family is to help Kiryu join the Tojo Clan again, seeing as he can't be accepted back to the Dojima Family given "his" crime. Encouraged by Kashiwagi, Nishikiyama vows to work hard to make his family strong for himself and for Kiryu. However, little did they know that they've pushed Nishikiyama further into the road of darkness. This is because his new subordinates openly despise and mock him for his ineptness, with Matsushige (one of the veterans on loan to Nishikiyama from the Kazama Family), being the most egregious, stating that if it were Kiryu it would be different as he is not a suck up-to-the boss type like Nishikiyama. Some time later, Nishikiyama goes to the hospital to learn from a doctor that his sister Yuko needs a heart transplant which will take time to find a donor, time that Yuko doesn't have. Nishikiyama asks if there is an alternative to which the doctor says that he has some illegal contacts which can provide a heart for Yuko for the price of 30 million yen. Nishikiyama, desperate to save his sister, agrees to the deal and asks Matsushige to get him the 30 million, whatever it takes. Matsushige seems surprised but quickly agrees to it, delighted at the control he has over Nishikiyama. Nishikiyama later finds Matsushige, demanding to know why he would take money from shops in Kashiwagi's territory. Matsushige seems unfazed by this and only replies by claiming if he doesn't like his methods, Nishikiyama can do it by himself. Kashiwagi soon learns this and proceeds to beat Nishikiyama in his office as punishment for betraying all that Kazama and he did for him. Nishikiyama doesn't resist and takes it, only sobbing after the beating, feeling ashamed that he betrayed the very man that gave him his family. Kashiwagi later forgives him but tells him that this wouldn't happen if Kiryu was around, a comment that shocks Nishikiyama. Nishikiyama leaves the office only to run into Futoshi Shimano, who knows all about Nishikiyama's situation. Shimano tells him that Kazama only cares about Kiryu having his family, commenting that even though Kiryu "killed" his patriarch, that has only strengthened his reputation, one that neither he nor Nishikiyama can reach and that is all that matters in their world: reputation. Nishikiyama replies that he will take Kiryu into his family but Shimano corrupts his mind even further, claiming the only one who needs to be looked after is Nishikiyama himself. Shimano mockingly suggests that he should quit being a yakuza. Nishikiyama is once again in his office when Matsushige walks in with the money necessary for Nishikiyama to pay the doctor. Matsushige says that a doctor paid off his gambling debt which is how the doctor got his money, something that gets the attention of Nishikiyama. He then identifies the doctor as the same one who asked him for the money in the first place and races to the hospital to confront him, only to learn he has vanished. Nishikiyama then leaves the hospital, broken and depressed at the fact that all his efforts were in vain and that his sister will die, crying in front of the hospital. After all he has been through and failing, Nishikiyama sits in his office in front of Yuko's headstone about to commit suicide. Before he can do it, Matsushige walks in and continues to treat Nishikiyama with the same disrespect he displayed in the past. Having enough, Nishikiyama stabs Matsushige with the same knife he planned to commit suicide with and reveals to him that he was the one who killed Dojima. Nishikiyama slicks his hair back with Matsushige's blood as he swears to kill as many people as needed to reach the top. When Kiryu is released from jail, he finds that Nishikiyama has not only started his own subsidiary group, but he has changed into a cold, heartless man completely unlike his former self. He tries to kill Kiryu on several occasions, even using Omi Alliance thugs to do the deed. When Kiryu escapes the funeral of Sera, which devolved into a violent brawl between the Tojo Clan and Omi Alliance, he notices Nishikiyama sadistically smirking at him. Nishikiyama also shot Kazama, as he sat beside Kiryu, just to traumatize him. Nishikiyama learns that Kiryu went to meet Utabori from Reina and calls Kiryu to ask him if he learned about Mizuki's body, before stating that he wishes to meet him in private at Serena. Nishikiyama and Kiryu finally meet again after 10 years. Haruka Sawamura, 9. She is a girl with straight shoulder-length black hair held back by red barrettes on the left side with bangs swept to the right side and dark brown eyes. Haruka's casual attire tends to consist of a red and white color scheme, consistent with Kazuma Kiryu's maroon and gray color scheme. In Yakuza/Yakuza Kiwami she wears a plain white hoodie and a red pleated skirt with short black boots. Even as a young child, Haruka is a calm and level-headed girl who is often acting as a grounding force for her foster father, Kazuma Kiryu. Despite her age, Kiryu commonly leans on her for support with the other children at the orphanage. She is incredibly self-reliant and mature, seeking out work in order to help support her adoptive family, running errands on her own, cooking meals, and picking up the slack where Kiryu falls short, but still relying on him for certain matters. Her maturity extends to aspects of the nightlife, such as teasing Kiryu and Makoto Date by pretending to not know what a "soapland" is. She is very polite in conversation, though Haruka can be shy, and doesn't always get on well with children her own age due to her maturity. Haruka is born to Yumi Sawamura and Kyohei Jingu in 1996. She survives an early attempt on her and Yumi's lives, and grows up away from her parents in the safety of Sunflower Orphanage. Haruka is gifted letters by Yumi, who visits her under the identity of her supposed-aunt, "Mizuki Sawamura". One visit, she is gifted a pendant, after which "Mizuki" stops visiting. Afterwards, she runs away from the orphanage to search for her mother. Haruka is first seen observing a news report about a fight during the Tojo chairman's funeral in the aftermath of 10 billion yen being stolen from the clan before wandering off once more in the streets of Kamurocho. That night, she ends up in the aftermath of a massacre in a bar called Bacchus, where Kiryu finds her and learns she has been searching for her mother. Kiryu brings her to Serena after she passes out where, upon waking up, she reveals her upbringing and her knowledge of Ares through the letters, and is now in Kiryu's tentative custody. The two head for the Millennium Tower, and Haruka shows Kiryu a pendant she received from Yumi the last time they met. There, they are confronted by Hiroshi Hayashi and members of the Omi Alliance, who reveal they are after the girl. Haruka is left with Makoto Date in Serena while Kiryu goes to look for the Florist of Sai. The two are later assaulted by the Majima Family near Park Boulevard and kidnap Haruka. They take her to the Yoshida Batting Center and lock her in a dark room, where a mysterious man unties her and gives her a message for Kiryu, which she delivers back at Serena. While Haruka sleeps, Date and Kiryu discuss a photo of a dead body with signs that it's Mizuki and leave for more information. When they return, fed up with their secrecy, Haruka leaves the pendant with them and runs off, eventually getting kidnapped by men of an unknown organization and taken to Stardust. When the fighting is over, Haruka apologizes to Kiryu for running off, who apologizes in return and lets her know her mother is dead. Afterwards, Haruka is left at Purgatory with Date while Kiryu reunites with Akira Nishikiyama. Not long after, Haruka tells Date she thinks she should go away because her mother is dead and she feels she is causing Kiryu trouble. Just then, the bathroom entrance is bombed and Haruka is kidnapped by Bloody Eye with assistance from Blue Z and White Edge. She is taken to Lau Ka Long in Yokohama and her pendant is sold to Nishikiyama. Kiryu rescues her after defeating Lau, but is arrested by Junichi Sudo for kidnapping. Date frees him and all of them flee by car, at which point he reveals the mysterious men in Stardust were connected to Kyohei Jingu, and that the body from earlier was not Mizuki. Kiryu follows a lead and takes Haruka to Shangri-La, where they learn Shintaro Kazama's whereabouts. The two then go to Shibaura Wharf for him. There, Haruka recognizes Terada as the man who saved her at the batting center. She then meets Kazama, who tells both of them that her parents are Yumi and Jingu, and fills them in on what Yumi did in the past decade: "Mizuki" is Yumi's fake identity, and she hid Haruka in Sunflower to keep her safe from Jingu, who wanted both of them dead. The Shimano Family arrives to kill them and take Haruka, but are repelled with assistance from Osamu Kashiwagi and the Kazama Family, though Kazama dies after shielding Haruka from a grenade Shimano had thrown. Back in Kamurocho, Kiryu fights through the Nishikiyama Family to reach the Millennium Tower, where he fights the MIA while Haruka hides. They eventually reach the top floor where Haruka finally reunites with Yumi. Shortly after, Jingu arrives to deal with them, but Kiryu takes a bullet to the shoulder meant for Haruka and Yumi reveals a bomb to stop Jingu from going any further. Nishikiyama enters the fray following Jingu's defeat, but is defeated by Kiryu. After Yumi plants the bomb to destroy Jingu's money, Kiryu is shot by Jingu, but before he can shoot again, Haruka stands in front of the way, though it is Yumi who takes the bullet after running in front of both of them. Nishikiyama pushes Jingu into the vault with his money before he can finish off Kiryu and detonates the bomb, killing Jingu and himself. Yumi bleeds out, with Haruka crying out for her. Police surround them with the intention to arrest Kiryu, who is reminded by Date he still has Haruka left to live for. He hands over his position as chairman to Terada, and starts his new life together with Haruka. Ichiban Kasuga, 41 Described as having been born with "nothing but physical strength," Kasuga has a very muscular build that gives him the opportunity to be proficient at a variety of fighting styles. His eyes are gray and he has dark brown hair styled into a long, wavy perm that stands up like an afro after his release from prison, as well as a beard. Prior to this, his hair was styled into a much shorter punch perm, growing out long enough during his time in prison to be tied into a short ponytail
Kasuga's tattoo covers most of his back and ends just above his thighs. It depicts a dragonfish (龍魚, ryūgyo), the in-between state of the koi in the legend of a koi that swims up to the top of a waterfall and is rewarded for its tenacity by being transformed into a dragon. The tattoo represents the strength and perseverance of the koi as it struggles upstream, as well as a greater destiny that lies ahead, as the koi has not fully finished its transformation into a dragon. Utabori is the tattoo artist who designed Kasuga's dragonfish, and he incorporated elements from both Kazuma Kiryu and Akira Nishikiyama's tattoos in its design. Utabori did not include his signature in Kasuga's tattoo; it is unknown why. Kasuga's signature attire consists of a maroon suit worn over a white shirt with an upturned collar and a gold chain necklace. He also wears black leather loafers with gold buckles and a matching black leather belt with a gold buckle. When assigned his unique class, Hero, the way he envisions his attire changes slightly in battle; his sleeves are rolled up to the elbow, he wears black leather gloves, and his necklace is replaced by a red silk ascot. Kasuga is a fiercely loyal, passionate, and steadfast man with a strong sense of justice. Kasuga is a huge fan of Dragon Quest, a video game he loved to play ever since his youth. This contributed to his strong sense of imagination where he imagines his battles as if they were a turn-based JRPG. Due to his loves for games, Kasuga dreams of being a "hero" and greatly admires old-school yakuza ideals of honor, bonds, and chivalry. He deeply admires Masumi Arakawa and aspires to be a man like him and live up to his legacy. Kasuga is a humble, easy-going, humorous, and optimistic man who enjoys the simple things and approaches life with a child-like wonderment. While he enjoys fighting, Kasuga never picks fights needlessly or unfairly, admitting that he lets weaker opponents hit him so it won't be one-sided, and balks at killing. Kasuga wears his heart on his sleeve and is prone to letting his emotions get the best of him, whether it be sheer rage or getting overly excitable. His impulsive nature and tendency not to think things through often lands him in trouble. Mild-mannered and friendly to everyone he meets, Kasuga is a good conversationalist and an attentive listener, providing a comforting presence and giving encouragement and advice. His idealistic naivety, blunt honesty, and lack-of-tact sometimes causes bouts of awkwardness, embarrassment, and insensitivity towards people, but Kasuga always sincerely apologizes for any offense he causes. His exuberant, hot-blooded nature both endeared and annoyed his friends, who usually have to rein him in. Kasuga is noted to have a dangerous temper, getting more violent whenever it flares, but he learned to better control it after fighting with Kazuma Kiryu. One of Kasuga's notable traits is his unfailing kindness and general love for people. Due to living his entire life as a societal outcast, Kasuga is immensely empathic and non-judgmental to those in similar situations. He is always willing to help out anyone in need and put others before himself. He's compassionate to people at their lowest and shows forgiveness even to those who wronged him because he understands what it's like to struggle alone without any help. As many tend to point out, Kasuga's trusting, good-natured disposition makes it easy for others to take advantage of him. Kasuga understands this and accepts responsibility for his actions, striving to make amends should problems arise. He believes in the best in people and that anyone can atone, saving his hatred for the truly vile and remorseless people. These traits have made him an infectiously charismatic person that never fails to inspire admiration from the people around him. He cares deeply about his party members and leads them with grace, and in turn, they stand by him and are ready to have his back no matter how overwhelming the odds are. Having spent his entire life at "rock bottom" and considered an "idiot" for his loud, goofy behavior imbued Kasuga with a tough, resilient spirit. Acknowledging his shortcomings and flaws, Kasuga doesn't let insults or negative opinions weight him down, even making self-deprecating remarks and jokes at his own expense. Despite being a high school dropout and his long stint in jail, Kasuga compensates his lack of formal education and ignorance of modern society with street-smarts, sharp intuition, and a natural curiosity to learn new things. Kasuga is also very emotionally intelligent, being good at reading people and predicting their actions. His imagination has also made him a quick thinker and a creative tactician in battles or at problem-solving. He's also extremely knowledgeable of the criminal underworld and cunningly utilizes this, calling out Zheng on his arrogance for using the Yokohama Liumang as an excuse to get away with shaking down the homeless, as well as Yamato Totsuka's fear of the Seiryu chairman. Despite being bad at lying, Kasuga is good with words, showing talent in public speaking and can argue evenly against his opponents. When the situation calls for it, Kasuga becomes unflinchingly serious, focused, and fearless, unfazed even when weapons aim at him. Once a goal is set in his mind, Kasuga is incredibly stubborn, hard-working, and dutiful, stopping at nothing until he fulfill the promises and trust placed in him. His heroic willpower, tenacious persistence, and brilliance at strategy allows him to prevail over his enemies, who sorely underestimates him. Legendary figures such as Kiryu sees great potential in Kasuga and some even notes the similarities between them. Although he respects Kiryu, Kasuga wants to create his own path instead of following Kiryu's footsteps. Kasuga also has a fear of heights. Kasuga was born to Akane Kishida and Masumi Arakawa on New Year's Day, 1977, in Shangri-La. He was hidden in coin locker #101 at Shinjuku Station by Akane on Arakawa's instructions in order to keep him safe while they were being pursued by members of Hikawa Industries. However, Arakawa unknowingly retrieved the baby locked in the adjacent locker #99. Kasuga was instead taken in by Shangri-La's manager, Jiro Kasuga, and raised by the people of Kamurocho. Although beloved, he lived in poverty and the people who raised him were considered "trash" by the rest of society. To escape this reality, he spent his nights playing Dragon QuestWP in the back office of the soapland and dreaming of being a hero one day. He had apparently been struggling with toilet training until fifth grade. Ichiban believed his mother was a soapland girl who abandoned him, and that his birth father was a client. Ichiban ylad teen Teenage Kasuga
The year after the death of his father, he stopped going to junior high school at fifteen and resorted to whatever means necessary to earn money and support himself, leaving his education behind for good. He spent most of his days fighting people for money, regardless of who they were. However, one day, he severely injured and hospitalized a yakuza. The family the yakuza belonged to sought revenge and managed to capture him. They beat Kasuga to the brink of death, and fearing for his life he blurted out the name of a feared yakuza, Masumi Arakawa, saying that if they killed him they'd be hearing from him; in reality, he had never met the man and was only aware of him due to his reputation as "Killer" Arakawa. Kasuga hoped mentioning his name would somehow get him free, but it only backfired. The family that held him captive were enemies of the Arakawa Family. They summoned Arakawa to their office and asked him to collect Kasuga in person, assuming Kasuga was part of his family. To Kasuga's surprise, Arakawa arrived. The men demanded he takes responsibility for Kasuga's actions. Arakawa offered them his finger in exchange for Kasuga's freedom and the men quickly let Kasuga go. Kasuga followed Arakawa and tried to thank him, but Arakawa punched him, saying he didn't cut his finger off for his sake. He explained to Kasuga that being a yakuza meant you had a reputation to uphold, and he would have lost face if he simply bowed his head and asked for him back. Kasuga asked him why he would go to such lengths for someone he didn't even know, to which Arakawa responded, "Maybe I just wanted to look cool in front of a kid who knew who I was."
Kasuga decided then and there he'd follow Arakawa for the rest of his life. He waited outside of the Arakawa Family office for one hundred days before Arakawa finally gave in and agreed to swear him into the family at sixteen, against Jo Sawashiro's wishes. His yakuza career was largely unremarkable, earning the nickname "Rock Bottom Ichiban" as he didn't bring in lot of money into the family since Kasuga never unjustly took money from anyone. A mutual antagonism developed between Kasuga and Sawashiro because to this and Sawashiro hit him whenever he fails his assignments. Sometime after his induction to the family, Kasuga was also tasked to care for Arakawa's son, Masato Arakawa. While Masato treats him contemptuously, Kasuga made a promise to Arakawa to always look after Masato and is kind to him. Aside from some downsides, Kasuga was happily content with his life serving the man he admired the most and went on to formed a very close relationship with Arakawa, akin to father and son. Involvement Yakuza: Like a Dragon: 2000-2019 On December 31, 2000, Kasuga is on a collections job for Jo Sawashiro with Mitsuo Yasumura, interacting with his friends on the way. He later takes Masato to the cabaret club he frequents and receives money from him, which he tries to use as payment for his captain, who realizes where the money actually came from. Sawashiro tries to have Kasuga's finger cut off, but Arakawa interrupts them and takes Kasuga out for dinner. On his 24th birthday, Kasuga is called into the Arakawa Family office, where Arakawa informs him of Sawashiro's involvement in the murder of a member of the Sakaki Family. Arakawa asks Kasuga to shoulder the blame and go to prison on Sawashiro's behalf, and that he is banished from the family. He turns himself in to the police and is sentenced to 15 years in jail, which is extended to 18 years following a fight with inmates in the summer of 2002. In 2019, now 42, Kasuga is freed from prison with no one from his old days waiting for him. He meets Koichi Adachi, who did his research on Kasuga, but he is not interested in partnering with the detective. While visiting a graveyard, he sees his former patriarch and is ignored by him, learning from Adachi that the Arakawa Family has sided with the Omi Alliance, who forced the Tojo Clan out of Kamurocho. Kasuga arrives in Kamurocho and is shocked by how much society changed during his prison term. Adachi joins him, and explains his reasoning for wanting to be with him, then hands him a smartphone, which he learns how to operate with assistance from Nick Ogata. They sneak through the sewers and rooftops to where Arakawa is. On the way, a helicopter spots them on a rooftop and Adachi stays behind. Kasuga faces Sawashiro upon arrival and defeats him, then opens the door to a dinner between Omi officers, looking for answers, but is shot in the chest by Arakawa. Kasuga wakes up under a pile of garbage in Isezaki Ijincho, having been patched up by Yu Nanba. Nanba joins Kasuga after Yokohama Liumang member Zheng demands payment from the homeless, and the two drive him off. Nanba explains the situation with the Ijin Three and shows Kasuga the severity of his bullet wound, which leads to him discovering a defective counterfeit 10,000 yen bill. Through Shuichi Kanbe, the duo find jobs. They meet Hamako and Bleach Japan after a bodyguard job, and Adachi rejoins them afterward. The three are directed to Otohime Land to work for Isao Nonomiya, and rescue Nanoha Mukoda from having to pay large fees to Sunlight Castle, and meet Ryuhei Hoshino, who recognizes the bill. After their job is done, however, Nonomiya dies apparently from suicide. Through Saeko Mukoda, they learn one of the Liumang's bosses Akira Mabuchi may be involved. She joins the trio after tearfully asking for their help, and they eventually learn they might meet him at the Yokohama Trading Company. They attempt to expose the company's counterfeiting scheme, but their plan goes awry and they are captured and framed by Mabuchi. A masked Joongi Han frees them and they rush to Chinatown to stop a war between the Liumang and the Seiryu Clan. There, they meet the Liumang leader Tianyou Zhao and convince both him and Mamoru Takabe to stand down temporarily. They head to Geomijul at Zhao's demand, and are led there by an incognito Seonhee. They get what Zhao wanted, but an established conflict between the Geomijul and Nanba causes him to leave and Han to fight the others. They later meet the heads of the Ijin Three at Heian Tower and learn about the scheme they set up with Yutaka Ogikubo, but for information on Kasuga's fake bill, he is asked to retrieve Nanba. Initially hesitant, he accepts after learning the Liumang had sent assassins after Nanba. They find Nanba collaborating with Mabuchi, Bleach Japan, and Hajime Ogasawara. After defeating them, Kasuga discovers that Ryo Aoki is actually the supposedly-dead Masato Arakawa. In the ensuing chaos, Kasuga is called by Han and Seonhee. He and his friends are asked to hold the invading Omi Alliance at bay until they can burn down their operation. Afterwards, he interrogates Ogasawara to learn of Aoki's ambitions and plans to use the Omi. They learn Zhao may be in trouble, and Han joins the party to rescue him from Mabuchi and the Omi, where Nanba rejoins them. Afterwards, Zhao directs Kasuga to meet with Mitsuo, who is keeping a low profile. He tells Kasuga that Arakawa will need allies shortly. The Chief and Hoshino tell Kasuga of their history with Arakawa, and he learns Arakawa had sent him there intentionally to save him, renewing his faith in his former patriarch. Zhao joins Kasuga's party, and they decide to meet with Aoki for answers. He learns Aoki had endorsed Sota Kume for an election. Meeting Aoki in person, he learns of his recovery in the US, that he is intending to purge Ijincho of its residents reliant on gray zones, and that the murder Kasuga had taken the fall for was not caused by Sawashiro but by Aoki himself. Kasuga decides to head to Sotenbori after becoming restless waiting for an update from Mitsuo. Sneaking into the Omi Alliance Headquarters to meet Arakawa, he and his party are met upon by Goro Majima and Taiga Saejima. Before their fight escalates, Arakawa and Daigo Dojima explain that Arakawa's betrayal was planned by them and Masaru Watase in order to split the Omi forces between Tokyo and Osaka to make their plan of disbanding the Tojo and Omi easier to accomplish. When the dissolution is announced, they join Arakawa in defending Dojima and Watase alongside Yosuke Tendo, who had decided to fight for them, and Watase's mysterious bodyguard. Arakawa and Kasuga catch up after returning to Yokohama, but the next day, he learns Arakawa was killed. Hoshino is able to get him to cheer up and suggests he run in the upcoming election to get close to Aoki. During the campaign, he learns Hoshino is being targeted by Sawashiro, but arrives too late to save him, and learn from Sawashiro that Aoki is his son and Kasuga is Arakawa's. With the rough events, Kasuga starts to lose himself, but an exchange of blows with Kazuma Kiryu gets him back to his senses. Learning from Reiji Ishioda that Tendo murdered Arakawa, the group goes into hiding with Nick and heads to Kamurocho. Kasuga bluffs to Aoki of having incriminating evidence to lure him and Tendo to the Millennium Tower. Kasuga defeats Tendo, and engineers a confession with the help of Mirror Face to end Aoki's political career. Kasuga pleads to Aoki to start anew, but he is killed by Kume before he can do so. At the Arakawas' funeral, Kasuga turns down an invitation into a security firm by the ex-Tojo and Omi officers to stay with his newfound treasured friends in Ijincho, and reflects on Aoki's last words to him. Namba, 41. Nanba has an unkempt appearance with thick hair and stubble. Attire Nanba wears clothing consisting of a pair of black rubber boots, gray sweatpants, green zip-up hoodie, cyan denim jacket, a pair of black fingerless gloves and a blue scarf, as well as a pair of black horn rimmed glasses. Personality Nanba is an intelligent and rational individual with a viewpoint that often falls somewhere between realism and pessimism. Though he usually finds himself following the lead of others, Nanba doesn’t hesitate to voice his doubts regarding the plans that the rest of the party compose, even if his warnings tend to go unheeded. Nanba has moments where he might come to conclusions too quickly or seem a bit clueless when he isn’t totally engaged, but he has proven himself to be very capable of figuring out confusing situations and solving problems when he cares to. In addition to Nanba’s submissive nature, preferring to fall in and work with whoever most appeals to his goals rather than doing things his own way, he isn’t very keen on opening up about himself or his more personal problems. His typically negative outlook on things leads him to expect that everyone thinks the worst of him, especially after some of his true intentions are revealed, so he always finds himself taken by surprise whenever his fellow party members express their care for him. Still, Nanba remains very critical of himself and does not hold himself very highly in comparison to others, consequently seeing himself as unworthy of friendship. Despite not being the most positive person at times, Nanba still enjoys joking around with his friends, and clearly doesn’t like having to be too serious at all when the situation doesn’t call for it. He encourages Kasuga’s ambitions to become a hero more than anyone else, and he regularly chimes in during Party Chats, where he is sometimes subject to some lighthearted teasing at the hand of the other party members. Through it all, he continues to worry for the safety of his friends, and does what he can to support them. He also encouraged Kiryu to prepare a list of "last wishes". Background Nanba was inspired to become a nurse after reading about Florence NightingaleWP. Nanba lost his license after he covered for a former colleague of his who was selling medicine on the black market. Remembering her supposed family debt, her role model also being Nightingale, and seeing her youth and dedication to the job, he figured that she had her career ahead of her and deserved to pursue it, whilst he was tired and burnt out from years of work. Nanba was contacted by his brother Shoichi Nanba, who went to Isezaki Ijincho to investigate and report on potential corruption. In his last call before disappearing, Shoichi tells Nanba that he is being watched by the Geomijul. In search of Shoichi, Nanba heads to Isezaki Ijincho and disguised himself as a homeless man to blend in, and kept tabs on the Geomijul, waiting for an opportunity to get close to them. Nanba first comes across a bloodied Ichiban Kasuga after he has been left for dead in the trash, being woken up by the Chief to have him healed. Nanba is able to stitch up Kasuga's gunshot wound and he regains consciousness three days later. He teaches him how to survive as a homeless person and during a meal, are interrupted by Zheng of the Yokohama Liumang. After the two drive Zheng away, Nanba explains the Ijin Three to Kasuga and decides to follow him after discovering that a counterfeit bill of the sort Shoichi was looking for was placed in his breast pocket. Through Shuichi Kanbe, the duo find jobs. They meet Hamako and Bleach Japan after a bodyguard job, and Koichi Adachi joins them afterward. The three are directed to Otohime Land to work for Isao Nonomiya, and rescue Nanoha Mukoda from having to pay large fees to Sunlight Castle, meeting Ryuhei Hoshino from their adventure. After their job is done, however, Nonomiya dies apparently from suicide. At Nonomiya's funeral, they meet Saeko Mukoda and learn of Akira Mabuchi's possible responsibility behind the suicide. Frustrated that the police would not look into the matter, she asks for the trio's help, which they accept. They head to Chinatown for leads but are met with resistance. They eventually join the Yokohama Trading Company for more leads, but a failed attempt to expose their counterfeiting leads to their capture. They are freed by a masked Joongi Han and head to a Chinatown restaurant to prevent a war, but are asked to head to Geomijul for proof of Mabuchi's guilt. During the trip to Geomijul's headquarters, Seonhee reveals she knows of Nanba's surveillance, and he admits he was looking to learn the whereabouts of his brother Shoichi. With the help of Kasuga and his party, Nanba successfully escapes from the Geomijul's headquarters, running straight to Bleach Japan's Ijincho branch for refuge. There, he tells Hajime Ogasawara and Sota Kume everything about the money laundering scheme. When Kasuga shows up to warn Nanba of the assassins sent for him, he instead follows Ogasawara and Kume, leaving Kasuga and the others to fight off Mabuchi. Nanba joins Bleach Japan in their raid on the Geomijul backed by the Omi Alliance. He arrives at the heart of the facility to learn Seonhee had decided to torch the Geomijul headquarters and destroy all of the evidence of their counterfeit operation. Enraged by what he believes is Kasuga's betrayal, he fights alongside Reiji Ishioda in a desperate attempt to push past Kasuga before the evidence is fully destroyed. After the fight, Seonhee informs him that his brother has been living on the outskirts of the residential district under Geomijul watch since he went missing, which she is revealing thanks to his allies. When Aoki takes Kasuga's bait, Nanba plays dead to have him issue a hit in order to ruin his reputation. Following Aoki's death at the hands of Kume, Nanba joins Kasuga in mourning and tells him Jo Sawashiro received life in prison. He informs his allies of his worries that Kasuga would join the ex-yakuza officers in Sotenbori, but his fears are eased when Kasuga makes clear his intention to stay with his newfound friends. Koichi Adachi, 59. Adachi has a heavy, muscular build and graying, slicked back hair with a widow's peak. Attire Adachi wears a blue bomber jacket with a brown fur collar and the sleeves pulled up above his elbows over white T-shirt, a pair of fingerless black leather gloves, a silver watch, khaki pants, and a pair of lace-up sneakers. Personality Adachi is a driven man who carries himself with a nonchalant demeanor. Despite this, he does care about his companions, and responds to stressful situations with intelligent planning and quick thinking. Adachi appears as a somewhat knowledgeable man, as his past career enables him to get the grips of the criminal underworld. Being a former police officer, he is able to piece together information that the party receives to form a solid hypothesis. However, he does not manage money well, as he admits to spending it on drinks and women. He also has a fear of insects, particularly cockroaches. Unlike Nanba, who is quite a realistic and pessimistic person, Adachi is melodramatic yet optimistic. Background Adachi was originally a police officer in Kanagawa Prefecture. During the 1990s, he had taken down the Yokohama Pink Panthers, which was a group of burglars committing crimes across Isezaki Ijincho. Around 1999[3], in a case where he was investigating a robbery and double homicide of an old couple, he would come to arrest a man named Kusumi. Kusumi, who was innocent, was sentenced to 17 years in prison because Juro Horinouchi used witness intimidation to remove any alibi, as a false arrest would cause him a scandal. When Adachi tried to take action to expose Horinouchi, he was unreasonably demoted by him to the DMV and began work as a driving instructor. Out of guilt, Adachi would send money to Kusumi's son Takashi under the alias "Yamada" after his parents died and he was sent to an orphanage, a decision which would cause Adachi monetary issues. Adachi first appears after Ichiban Kasuga is released from prison in 2019. Upon informing Kasuga that he knows about his false imprisonment, he insists that the two of them need to go to Isezaki Ijincho in order to uncover the entire truth surrounding the aforementioned incident. Kasuga, freshly out of jail, insists that Adachi leave him alone. However, Adachi insists on following Kasuga, and tells him about how the state of the yakuza world has shifted: The Tojo Clan having fallen, and the Omi Alliance taking its place at the hands of traitor Masumi Arakawa, Kasuga's old boss. Adachi lets Kasuga go to Kamurocho to see for himself the changes that have taken place since his imprisonment. After Kasuga sees how drastically different things are in the city, Adachi meets back up with him, explaining that his superior, Juro Horinouchi, had taken a bribe from the Omi in order to help wipe the Tojo Clan from Kamurocho, leaving it open for the opposing clan to move in and take their place. He wants evidence to arrest him and learn the truth of the Kamurocho 3K Plan that exiled the Tojo Clan. Adachi gives Kasuga a cell phone and helps him break into an Omi Alliance officers meeting later that night, where a helicopter spots them and Adachi shows them his badge to let them know he is also an officer, separating the two once again. Kasuga is shot by Arakawa and taken to Ijincho, while Adachi is fired from his job on charges of breaking and entering, assault, and interference outside of his jurisdiction. With his pension lost and no savings to speak of, he sets off in search of Kasuga when his cellphone regains its GPS connection. They meet up again when Adachi sneaks into Hamako's place to wake Kasuga, who is now accompanied by Yu Nanba. The three search for a job are are directed to Otohime Land and are given a job to investigate Nanoha Mukoda's suspicious behavior. They learn she is to pay a large sum of money for her father Tatsuro Mukoda at Sunlight Castle. Adachi takes them to Survive Bar for a moment of rest before they save Tatsuro the next day. They inform the chairman Ryuhei Hoshino of his underling's scheme and when they return to Otohime Land for their reward, they are met with the sight of Nonomiya's hanging corpse. They meet Nanoha's estranged twin Saeko Mukoda. Saeko states she heard the name "Lao Ma", which Adachi states is the nickname of a Yokohama Liumang boss, Akira Mabuchi. He also assumes the police ruled the death a suicide as they did not want to get in the Liumang's bad graces. They work for the Yokohama Trading Company to get close to Mabuchi, but end up imprisoned and used by Mabuchi before being freed by an incognito Joongi Han. They stop a war between the Ijin Three and are directed to the Geomijul. They are separated from Nanba due to a preexisting conflict between him and the Geomijul, and learn more about the Ijin Three's history by the three heads at Heian Tower. The details of the operation are leaked by Nanba, and Kasuga's party are asked to help the Geomijul bury evidence of the operation while Bleach Japan invades. The party's victory leads to the capture of Hajime Ogasawara, a partner of Ryo Aoki with ties to the Omi Alliance. He confirms Aoki is in league with the Omi and Horinouchi. Adachi is if Horinouchi took bribes from the Omi, but Ogasawara does not have any evidence. Adachi helps Kasuga get closer to Aoki by revealing the existence of a hidden elevator that grants access to an underground parking lot. He is able to make the bodyguards reveal they are armed. He helps Kasuga escape after Aoki orders him to be killed following their meeting at Otohime Land. When they go to Sotenbori, Adachi, while drunk, suggests to an impatient Kasuga that he can go to the Omi Alliance headquarters, which he takes up. When they meet Masumi Arakawa, they protect Kasuga from being shot, but learn that Arakawa is not planning to harm any of them. Adachi contacts his old friend Makoto Date for a place to stay, and he lets Kasuga's party lay over at New Serena. Aoki is baited by Kasuga's bluff of incriminating evidence, and Adachi joins the others in extracting a kill order from Aoki to ruin his reputation. While the Arakawa Family office was being searched for the evidence against Aoki, a memory drive containing proof that Arakawa bribed police officials - including Horinouchi - was discovered. Adachi sends its contents to the inspector general, leading to Horinouchi's arrest. Saeko Mukoda, 39. Saeko's chin-length hair is naturally curly, and though she straightens it out, some strands are still left curled.[2] Her fingernails are also painted light purple. In her first encounter, Saeko wears a funeral attire consisting of a black blazer over black blouse, a black skirt, a pair of black leather heels, and a pearl necklace. Her normal attire consists of a white blazer with black inserts over black blouse with matching white short skirt and a pair of black leather heels. Personality Saeko is a shrewd and intelligent woman with a knack for business, running a bar for her boss, Isao Nonomiya. She is quite blunt, and frequently teases her fellow party members. As she warms up to everyone, Saeko falls into a younger sister role within the group, though she is the most responsible, and will oftentimes scold their immaturity as a result. Saeko demonstrates her cunning in battle, utilizing her charm to leave enemies open for a brutal follow-up attack. Despite running away from her family, she loves and cares deeply for her twin sister Nanoha. She keeps watch over Nanoha from afar, and intervenes when she believes that her sister's boyfriend is taking advantage of her for monetary gain. Nonomiya calls Saeko, informing her of his newest helpers Ichiban Kasuga, Yu Nanba, and Koichi Adachi. She is informed from him that Nanoha had been working under him for funding their father Tatsuro's stay at Sunlight Castle. He asks if she has enough money to pay for his treatment, which she does not, when their conversation is interrupted by men entering Otohime Land while shouting repeating the name "Lao Ma". Before hanging up, he asks her to seek the trio. Nonomiya dies, allegedly from hanging himself. The police question her of Nonomiya afterward, and she tells them what she knows, but they drop the investigation when she tells them of "Lao Ma". Kasuga, Nanba, and Adachi make their first encounter with Saeko just outside Isezaki Ijincho's funeral home after Nonomiya's funeral. She introduces herself as Nanoha's twin sister. Saeko tells the team of her encounter with the police she breaks down asking for the trio's help in getting justice for Nonomiya. They accept her into the party. The team then make their way to Chinatown, getting assaulted for trying to find Mabuchi in the Yokohama Liumang. They eventually head to a Chinese members-only hostess club, where Saeko offers herself to work at the club to help the team; she manages to get hired at the club as a VIP hostess, enabling the team to gain access and talk to Zheng. They learn that the Yokohama Trading Company can be their ticket to meeting Mabuchi, and Kasuga invites her back to their place when they finish. Saeko and the team manage to find employment at the Yokohama Trading Company thanks to Shuichi Kanbe, where Saeko is employed as an accountant. Saeko discovers that the commodities are sold at break-even point, which makes her suspicious about the company's account book. They try to obtain proof of counterfeiting, but are captured by Mabuchi. After being freed by an incognito Joongi Han, they try to stop a war between the Liumang and the Seiryu Clan, but are tasked with finding the Geomijul for proof of Mabuchi's guilt. At the Geomijul, Saeko finds herself enamored by Han, and they all learn of the Geomijul's own counterfeiting scheme, then Seonhee exposes Nanba's true motives of getting close to the Geomijul. To save their comrade, they all occupy the Geomijul members while Nanba escapes. Soon after, the truth behind the counterfeiting scheme is revealed to them and that Nanba is being marked for assassination. Suspecting he took refuge with Bleach Japan, they head there to learn he has allied himself with them, and that Ryo Aoki is Masato Arakawa. Saeko searches the internet for any evidence Aoki is Masato, but cannot find any, though the theory is not ruled out fully. They are asked to defend the Geomijul, which they reach through a secret passage, and Saeko convinces Kasuga and Adachi to help, and Seonhee had bowed to them. Afterward, an interrogation of Hajime Ogasawara confirms Aoki is Masato, and they are joined by Han in rescuing Tianyou Zhao, where Saeko expresses her happiness at seeing Nanba rejoin them, and welcomes him back.
