Xiao & Xin

(Location: Leurav, an imperial steampunk city) (Location description: Situated on the end of a cliff, the city of Leurav is home to all sorts of species and is a valued trading hub that is ruled by two kings Miikab and Jeuran.

This City is structurally sound and sits on a massive cliff face on the side of a massive mountain range that reaches above the clouds, most residents have never seen the peaks.

The imperial city is filled with all kinds of copper and gold colors as it’s mining industry is one of its most profitable features, although the conditions of the mines the residents aren’t allowed to speak of. Many aspiring artists and inventors move here as well as the views of a city this high up are unparalleled. The cobblestone streets and sidewalks are always crowded by carriages and foot traffic no matter the time of day.

Leurav has a thriving economy, which is mainly supported by Mining ores, Books, and Inventors. But their biggest strengths are the gorgeous views that tourists strive to see. However, Leurav lacks a “fair” justice system. If you are poor in this city, you will struggle to find any job outside of mining or manual labor and if you offend a noble your odds of living for the rest of the week are slim.

The city’s mining industry is horridly corrupted. Miners get paid way less than minimum pay and the conditions of the mine are awful. It’s hot, dirty, and hard to breathe the deeper you go and the caverns are massive and filled with mechanical monsters protecting ancient ruins. The caves are beautiful if you get past all the red rock, clay, mud, and dirt. Massive crystal stalagmites and huge ore deposits. However Nobody outside of the Miners and the guards are allowed access inside without a special access pass from the kings.

The slums of the city are tucked away and hidden, surrounding the southern and much less guarded entrance of the mines where sickness spreads on the wind. It’s where all the Miners and less fortunate residents live and where most nobles avoid. There is a very small marketplace there but its shabby and filthy and sells mostly trash or excess goods that were thrown away by the upper district.

Leurav’s citizens will almost never talk about the slums or the people in poverty. In fact most citizens will completely dodge or avoid the question or pretend they never heard you ask in fear of being labeled as a ‘sympathizer’. The people who try to help those in the slums usually end up getting thrown in there themselves.

Despite its strengths and negatives, Leurav is a beautiful thriving capital and most of its residents love being there.)
