Xenomorphs, occasionally known as simply Aliens, are extraterrestrial lifeforms that use other living beings as a host during their life cycle. With black carapaces, elongated domed head, long flexible tail, corrosive fluids, and wicked sharp claws, powerful night vision, and the ability to see electrical pulses, xenomorphs are extremely dangerous. They are intelligent and capable of speaking with little difficulty.

The FTU is a party representing small businesses, workers' syndicates, and trade unions, who advocate for government measures to reduce the amount of power held by the TSCs. In many ways a holdover from the days before the Shadow Coalition, where corporate malfeasance took the place of technological development as the primary issue of debate, the FTU has found itself adopting technological positions similar to the SEO as a matter of pragmatism, although the views of individual members vary. The FTU is known for their intense lobbying of SolGov to add tax rebates to the purchases of personal lathes and the creation of open-source firmware for experimental autolathes, but have thus far found little success.

Luna is an important cultural site as well as the capital of the Solar Confederate Government. Most of its industry and agriculture long since superseded by other Inner System worlds, Luna remains a sprawling capital complex of one of the largest empires in space, with the vast majority of its economy servicing politicans, millitary officers, and other high-ranking luminaries.

Much of the population of Luna rests in Tycho, previously Tycho Base, built into the crater of the same name. Whilst there are several other installations and smaller population centres dotted around Luna, connected by underground rail, Tycho is the administrative heart of Luna and all of SolGov. Tycho needs to cater for vast numbers of civil workers in the political and administrative complexes of SolGov, as well as all the necessary support staff for any agencies and the various military installations of the Fleet and Marines. In turn, it then needs to house their families and entertain them and the countless thousands of politicians and military servicepeople on shore-leave. As a result, Tycho and other Lunar settlements tend to be sprawling and somewhat unplanned, having grown organically since the earliest days of man's ventures into space.

The Solar Confederate Government, or SolGov, is a mostly-human governmental entity based on Luna and extending throughout a sizable area of the surrounding galaxy. SolGov defines top-level law (such as sapient rights and transgressive technology) and acts as an intermediary council for problems involving member states, but leaves most other law for states to define themselves. The member states of SolGov obey these laws, pay confederation taxes, and provide each other with military aid, in exchange for membership in the largest free trade, customs, and military union in the known galaxy. Each state appoints at least one representative to the Colonial Assembly where issues are voted upon. The number of representatives from each member state is theoretically proportional to population, but in practice this is rarely the case. The vast majority of human states are members of SolGov.

Hephaestus Industries is the largest supplier of arms, ammunition, and small military vehicles in Sol space. Hephaestus products have a reputation for reliability, and the corporation itself has a noted tendency to stay removed from corporate politics. They enforce their neutrality with the help of a fairly large asset-protection contingent which prevents any contracting polities from using their own materiel against them. SolGov itself is one of Hephaestus’ largest bulk contractors owing to the above factors.

Their largest holdings are in gambling, but they maintain subsidiaries in everything from VR equipment to luxury watches. Their holdings in mass media are a smaller but still important part of their empire. Gilthari is known for treating its positronic employees very well, sparking a number of conspiracy theories. The gorgeous FBP model that Gilthari provides them is a symbol of the corporation’s wealth and reach ludicrous prices when available on the black market, with licit ownership of the chassis limited, by contract, to employees.

Hedberg-Hammarstrom (H-H) is a Sif-based firearms manufacturer and private security corporation founded in 2509 in a joint effort of wealthy hunting enthusiast Roar Hedberg and investor Vilde Hammarstrom. As of 2556 the company has been headed by Vilde's son, Gunnar Hammarstrom. For many years, the company was best known for its range of high-quality, high-cost hunting rifles and shotguns designed with the Sivian wilderness - and its wildlife - in mind. Starting in the 2550s, the company diversified into security systems and services ranging from alarm systems and law enforcement paraphernalia, to personal bodyguards and rapid response services. Competition with major trans-stellars such as Proxima Centauri Risk Control and Hephaestus Industries' Lawson Arms branding was achieved by leveraging Vir's deep-set distrust of "foreign" corporate interference, marketing itself as the "domestic alternative" to great success.

Sif is a terrestrial planet in the Vir system with one moon, Thor. It is somewhat earth-like, with tidal oceans, a breathable atmosphere, a magnetic field, weather, and similar gravity to Earth. It is currently the capital planet of Vir. The center of government is the equatorial city and site of first settlement, New Reykjavik. Sif has one main continent (New Iceland), a smaller continent (Londuneyja), several smaller islands, and one massive ocean. The planet is approximately 77% water, though almost all of its landmasses are connected by permanent ice sheets. On the continents, an abundance of mountains, ice, and snow are present, which presented a challenge for colonial settlers though the terrain and climate are milder around the planet's equatorial region. The temperature at the equator is on average a chilly but habitable 11 degrees Celsius (~52 Fahrenheit), and this is where the majority of human settlement has occurred, especially on New Iceland's sheltered eastern coastline.

Vir was first identified as a candidate for colonization following a 2182 automated survey. Considered unreasonably far from Sol to sustain a colonization effort, the system would remain fallow for decades. Early in 2200, the government of the Scandinavian Union proposed a Sivian colonization project, in an effort to address overcrowding after the repair of Earth's ice caps. 2209 saw the formation of New Reykjavik from 10,000 colonists aboard the SCV Leif Eriksson, soon followed by two more waves of colonists.

Thor is the sole moon of Sif. Its distinctive pink colour comes from a high proportion of iron in its otherwise pale bleached mineral composition. Due to the absence of any significant features on Thor which are not more easily found and accessed elsewhere in Vir, very few permanent settlements exist on its surface, with the notable exception of a SifGuard supply and communications outpost, and a long-running government-sponsored visitor center open exclusively during periods where Sif is visible from its position on the surface. The surface is not ordinarily open for private settlement, with VirGov strongly incentivising settlement on Sif's surface instead.

The only large corporation run by positronic intelligences, Morpheus caters almost exclusively to their sensibilities and needs. A product of the synthetic colony of Shelf, Morpheus eschews traditional advertising to keep their prices low and relied on word of mouth among positronics to reach their current economic dominance. Morpheus in exchange lobbies heavily for positronic rights, sponsors positronics through their Jans-Fhriede test, and tends to other positronic concerns to earn them the good-will of the positronics, and the ire of those who wish to exploit them. Morpheus is also known for a deeply sarcastic sense of humor, in part inspired by their Mercurial leanings.

Previously an illegal movement, proscribed due to the dangers of unfettered self-modification and the threat posed by positronics without human values in mind, self-described Mercurials still often find themselves persecuted or used by bioconservatives as scapegoats and boogiemen.

The other side of the coin from the Mercurials, the PRG wants full integration of positronics into human society, with equal wages, opportunities to advancement, and representation in the media. Their current pet cause is a tax credit for humans who wish to adopt or sponsor the creation of a positronic, a measure supported due to its potential to counteract the aging positronic population and to bring the average positronic closer to human culture.

Keys: Ward-Takahashi

The industry giant Ward-Takahashi was born in the year 2332 after the unexpected merger of Ward G.M.B. and Takahashi Electronics. Prior to the merger, Ward G.M.B. was a military contractor whose successful foray into the lucrative civilian self defense market catapulted them towards dizzying acquisitions in a variety of areas ranging from sporting goods to high quality machines parts, becoming one of the most prominent companies within human space of such markets by the year 2290. In stark contrast, Takahashi Electronics was a non-profit company founded by engineer Hideo Takahashi, originally created as a think-tank for novel circuit designs. Takahashi's many ambitious projects forced the company to go public, bringing in shareholders who were quick to push the visionary out in favor of improved profits. Under new leadership, Takahashi Electronics quickly became a household name through a mixture of design patents and manufacturing. While the companies had dealt with each other before, their 2332 merger came as a shock given their disparate interests. This did not stop profits from soaring as the newly-minted Ward-Takahashi rode out the phoron boom, producing everything from furniture, computers, AI systems, and weaponry for nascent phoron colonies.
