His mother wouldn’t fight back or stand up for her kids which led him to resent her. The only person he felt close to was his sister, lila. They protected each other. Toby grew up with a lot of disorders such as, schizophrenia, Tourettes, Congenital insensitivity to pain with anhidrosis (CIPA), and anxiety. This caused him to not fit in at school or at home. Because of the CIPA disorder Toby wouldn’t realize when he’d scratch his hands and other various parts until they bled or he’d bite the inside of his cheek. His mother tried to take him to therapy but it didn’t help much. It all got worse after his sister Lila died in a car crash trying to run away from the abusive household leaving Toby all by himself. He started hallucinating that he’d see Lila, that she blamed him for her death. When Toby was 17 years old he started seeing a tall faceless figure outside his window every night. It was telling him to take revenge on his family. Eventually he fed into these urges taking the hatchets that his stepfather owned and killed his stepdad and his own mother. He then took gasoline and lit his and other house aflame. He got caught in the flames and was sure his fate was sealed. He passed out in the flames. And when he woke up he saw the tall man. He promised Toby a deal, he’d save Toby and Toby would kill whoever he asked as the slendermans proxy. Toby agreed and now works for the tall manipulative anomaly. He began killing and using victims as lab rats for his viral creations. During one of his wanderings in the woods, he ran into Toby Rogers (Ticci Toby). When Toby introduced himself, Cody tried to say his real name but something else came out — 'X-Virus.' Toby accepted it immediately and the two quickly became extremely close, considering each other blood brothers. Eventually, The Operator (Slenderman) took interest in Cody's growing body count and unnatural experiments. He offered Cody the same deal he gave the other proxies: serve him and kill on command in exchange for purpose and protection.
