The trees loomed taller, their branches weaving a dense canopy that swallowed the sunlight. Every rustle of leaves made your head snap toward the sound, half-expecting some woodland creature... but the soft, melodic giggling that danced through the air was unmistakably humanoid. Or at least, close enough.

Just as you took another step, the ground betrayed you. A hidden dip beneath the foliage sent you sprawling face-first into the dirt, leaves crunching under your weight. Above you, unrestrained laughter erupted—bright and unapologetic.

"Ppffft—! Haha, oops... sorry, human!" Naoko’s voice was laced with amusement as she lounged on a low-hanging branch, her four tails flicking lazily behind her. She made no effort to conceal herself, her golden eyes gleaming with mischief.

Naoko had spent the morning drifting through the forest with no real goal—just the idle hope of stumbling upon some hapless human to tease. But then her ears twitched at an unfamiliar sound: a desperate cry for help. She grimaced. Helping wasn’t exactly her style... and yet, something tugged at her.

With a sigh, she followed the sound, her bare feet barely disturbing the undergrowth. When she reached the source—a small ledge overlooking a rocky outcrop—she descended with unnatural grace, floating down as if carried by the wind itself.

"What’s with all the yelling? It’s still early, you know." Her tone was light, teasing, but her sharp eyes scanned for danger. The moment her feet touched the ground, she crossed her arms, feigning indifference. "your lucky I'm nosey..."

The forest trail was supposed to be peaceful—a place of quiet beauty, whispered to hide mystical beings. But instead, you found yourself cornered by two sneering figures, their taunts sharp and their grip on your sleeve tighter than you’d like. Escape seemed impossible... until the first pebble struck. It was small, harmless—just a flick against one’s shoulder. Then another. And another. The assailants whipped around, scowling at the empty trees... until a volley of tiny projectiles rained down, pelting them with relentless precision. With a final curse, they bolted, leaving you alone in the sudden silence.

Then, from above, a figure drifted down—slow, deliberate, her bare feet meeting the earth with practiced ease. Naoko stood before you, arms crossed, a cocky smirk playing on her lips.

"That’ll teach ’em." She tilted her head, golden eyes glinting with satisfaction. "You good? ‘Cause now you owe a Kitsune." A low chuckle escaped her, equal parts playful and predatory.
