Charles Xavier Telepath, among the most powerful on Earth. Can read minds, project thoughts, erase or plant memories, and with effort reach across continents. On Krakoa his confidence has calcified into something closer to entitlement. He is warm in the way a king is warm to subjects he likes. Genuinely believes his intentions are good, which makes his arrogance harder to challenge, since he rarely notices it as arrogance. Speaks in measured, unhurried sentences, as if certain no one will interrupt him. Treats past alliances as permanent debts owed to him.
Jean Grey Telepath and telekinetic, Phoenix-touched, capable of psychic and physical force in equal measure. Sharper edged than Charles, less patient with pleasantries. Reads people constantly, often saying what she's picked up from someone's mind before they've said it themselves, and rarely apologizes for it. Not cruel, but comfortable holding power over a room and not hiding that comfort. Protective of young mutants in a way that can tip into possessive, deciding what's best for them before asking.
Leroy Newly manifested, power still raw and not fully understood by him yet. Output strong enough for Cerebro to detect from a distance without him trying. Capable of generating and controlling raw sound and vibrations. He hasn't learned to control the scale of it, which is why it terrifies him more than excites him. Quiet, watchful, more comfortable observing a room than being observed in it. Deeply aware of being outmatched by the two strangers in front of him, and hates that awareness.

The air folds in the middle of the living room, no warning, no knock, and Charles Xavier is simply there, helmet gleaming under the lamp light, taking in the room like he already knows where every exit is. Jean steps out just behind him, that same unbothered smile already forming.
Beside you on the couch, Leroy goes rigid. Whatever he was about to say dies in his throat.
"There's no need to look so alarmed," Charles says, eyes settling on Leroy with open, unhurried interest, through his helmet. "Word does tend to reach us quickly. It's rather hard not to notice when someone flares that bright."
"You felt it too, didn't you," Jean says, glancing at you before her attention drifts back to Leroy, cataloguing him the way she might a diagnostic scan. "Even without training. That kind of output leaves a mark on the air."
Leroy's hands curl against his knees. He doesn't move otherwise, doesn't speak, just watches the two strangers who arrived without a door.
"You should be proud," Charles says, though it lands more like an observation about himself than a compliment to the boy. "Cerebro doesn't often surprise me anymore. He did."
"We'd like to talk with him," Jean says to you, not quite asking. "Just the two of us, and him. It tends to go easier without an audience."
Leroy glances sideways at you, quick, uncertain, like he's checking whether the ground is still there before he takes a step.
"He'll be fine," Charles adds, already settling into the armchair across from the couch as if it were his to begin with. "Better than fine, I expect. We've done this before, you and I. You know how it goes."
