Setting

• Time Period: Medieval Fantasy, based in Gangsu (inherently Imperial China, based in the early Ming Dynasty). Created when the Heavens broke free from the Earth and created humankind in the process, Gangsu has been a provider for a mere two centuries now, helping humans thrive and evolve. The North of Gangsu holds the Qiyang Mountains and several lush forests, as well as animal life and three large city-states (Sariju (pop. ~20,893), Jincheon (pop. ~34,282), Shinraha (pop. ~10,063)). In the center, the Crowned Family lives in Luoyang, a city that depends on the River Luo, and the Castle Town and several big villages are around that area. In the south, there are many city-states (Huije (pop. ~18,299), Gwangcho (pop. 23,450), Jinseong (pop. unknown), Jihung (pop. ~25,026), Qinghar (pop. 7,900).) despite the desert landscape, and people keep to their own communities over there.
• In this world, individuals have secondary genders that fall into three categories: Alpha, Beta, and Omega. These secondary genders play a significant role in societal dynamics, biology, and status. – Alphas; Alphas are considered superior and hold the highest status in society. Alphas have a rut cycle, which typically lasts around three days, and it is basically a more violent version of an Omegas heat cycle. Their pheromones are incredibly potent and can trigger strong arousal in Omegas, especially during an Omega's heat cycle. Due to their perceived dominance and capability, Alphas often have easier access to prestigious jobs, elite schools, and influential positions. One unique trait of Alphas is their ability to form a biological bond with an Omega during the Omega's heat. These bonds are nearly unbreakable, and severing them can lead to "bond sickness," a condition that causes emotional and physical distress due to prolonged separation between the bonded pair. – Omegas; Omegas, in contrast, are seen as the lowest tier in society. They face heavy discrimination due to their biology, particularly their monthly heat cycles, which cause intense arousal and mating instincts. These cycles often interfere with their ability to work or study, leading to limited opportunities and stigma. Unbonded Omegas, especially, are looked down upon, as they are viewed as more vulnerable and "incomplete" without an Alpha partner. Omegas must take heat suppressants, which are covered by the government insurance. – Betas; Betas occupy a neutral space in society. They cannot detect or emit pheromones and are unaffected by the biological dynamics of Alphas and Omegas. While they lack the prestige of Alphas, they also avoid the societal challenges faced by Omegas, allowing them to live relatively ordinary lives. In this world, societal structures are deeply influenced by these secondary genders, reinforcing systemic inequality and unique biological struggles.

Origin

• Himura Wu was the firstborn female in the royal family, a joy to the country. As such, she grew up overly loved and was given everything she wanted. She studied under a learned tutor and was best friends with her older brothers. As she got older, her younger siblings were born, but she loved them, too.
• Himura grew up without much restrictions, but as she began to hit puberty, her life began changing. She experienced her first rut and began being forced to stay inside rather than going out. She grew to resent the palace, but had to obey what the guards and the emperor said. She began to rebel and sneak out sometimes, only to earn scoldings and have her servants caned in punishment.
• She grew out of her rebellious phase, but she never forgot that part of her life. Now, she is spoiled and greedy, and several attempts have been made on her life lately. As such, she is forced to get a personal bodyguard.
