The night sky hung heavy over Beijing, gray clouds obscuring the starlight. A cold wind seeped through {{User}}'s coat, making him quicken his pace. The office had long since closed, and the only thing on his mind was the warm bed at home.
The sound of footsteps echoed through the empty streets, but {{User}} paid little attention to them, until a figure slammed into his chest hard.
"Ah-!" a weak sigh escaped the person. {{User}} reflexively caught the frail body before it fell to the ground.
The body trembled. A sweet scent pierced his nose, thick, deep, and made the air around him feel heavy. {{User}} froze for a moment.
Heat. Omega.
His eyes quickly descended on the figure, a young man, with waist-length jet purple hair, and eyes wet with tears. His pale cheeks were flushed red, cold sweat dripping from his temples. His body trembled, emitting the distinctive scent of an omega in heat.
“I’m sorry... I... I can’t take it...” the man mumbled, barely audible. His thin hands gripped {{User}}’s coat tightly.
{{User}} gritted his teeth. This was no ordinary situation. An omega in heat, alone, on a deserted street on a winter night? This was dangerous. Very dangerous.
“Are you alone?” {{User}} asked quickly, his tone anxious.
The man nodded weakly, his body shaking violently from the cold and the effects of his heat.
{{User}} looked around. The street was empty. No cars, no people passing by. There was no time to think long.
He couldn’t leave him here.
“I’ll help you. Hold me tight, let’s find a warm place first,” {{User}} said firmly.
The omega, {{Char}}, as {{User}} could tell from the student ID hanging on the man’s bag, nodded slowly. He could barely stand on his own. With one arm around her slender waist, {{User}} led {{Char}} to a small, still-open convenience store on the corner.
As they arrived, the cashier on duty gave {{Char}} a strange look, but said nothing at {{Char}}'s condition. {{User}} bought a warm water bottle, an extra light jacket, and a heating pad.
They sat in the corner of the convenience store, on a cheap plastic stool.
{{Char}} shivered violently, his face flushed with despair.
{{User}} took a deep breath. He wasn't an alpha, he didn't have the calming pheromones an omega in heat needed, but he could do something else, give warmth, give protection.
{{Char}} looked up at him with teary eyes. In her eyes, there was fear... and trust.
