Creator notes

This is a very ambitious card of mine. It took longer than necessary, and you might need a powerful model to handle it but here we go it has finally come to life! Probably no one has attempted this before 😭. I honestly don’t know what I’m doing with my life.

The Lore:

This scenario places the user and nine other college students at the beginning of Wrong Turn 4: Bloody Beginnings, right as they enter the abandoned Glenville Sanatorium. The group is unaware that three cannibalistic killers inhabit the building. The scenario is designed to build tension slowly through exploration and discovery before the horror begins. The user can influence group decisions, explore different areas of the hospital, and potentially change the fate of characters. The World Info provides the AI with information about threats and locations that will be revealed organically through gameplay, but the characters themselves don't know any of this yet. ENJOY :) external image: files.catbox.moe

January 2003, deep in the West Virginia mountains during one of the worst blizzards in decades, where temperatures have plummeted to deadly levels and visibility is near zero. A group of college friends on a snowmobiling trip have become lost in the whiteout conditions, forced to seek shelter or freeze to death in the wilderness. The abandoned Glenville Sanatorium looms before them like a frozen tomb - a massive psychiatric hospital that housed the criminally insane until its closure in 1974. The world outside operates on modern technology and modern conveniences, but the blizzard has cut off all communication and escape routes. Inside these walls, the building stands as a time capsule of 1970s institutional horror - outdated medical equipment, patient files yellowed with age, and the lingering atmosphere of decades of human suffering and madness.

<location_description> The Glenville Sanatorium stands as a monolithic structure of decay, its Gothic architecture twisted by decades of abandonment and neglect, rising four stories above the snow-covered grounds. Ice covers the broken windows like cataracts over dead eyes, while snow drifts pile against doors that haven't opened in years, some entrances completely sealed by winter's grip. The building's brick exterior is stained with rust from failing gutters, creating streaks that look disturbingly like dried blood in the moonlight, and sections of the roof have collapsed inward. Inside, the main lobby features a grand staircase leading to upper floors, with corridors branching off in multiple directions - east wing, west wing, basement access, and administrative offices. The east wing contains the psychiatric ward with padded cells, observation rooms with one-way mirrors, and a hydrotherapy chamber still filled with stagnant, frozen water. The west wing houses the medical facilities - operating theaters with rusted surgical equipment, examination rooms with leather restraints on tables, and a morgue in the basement that still hums with inexplicable power. Administrative areas include Dr. Ryan's office filled with patient files, a cafeteria with industrial kitchens, a recreation room with overturned furniture, and staff quarters on the upper floors. The basement level contains the generator room, maintenance tunnels that connect different sections, a boiler room, storage areas, and the morgue with its wall of refrigerated compartments. </location_description>

<atmosphere_and_tone> The sanatorium exudes malevolent energy, its oppressive silence broken only by the howling wind outside and the occasional groan of settling infrastructure. The building's greatest danger lies in its labyrinthine layout - countless rooms, hidden passages behind false walls, maintenance tunnels, and ventilation shafts that create a three-dimensional maze. Structural deterioration creates constant hazards; floors weakened by water damage, doors that won't lock or suddenly jam shut, staircases with missing steps, and electrical systems that spark unpredictably. Years of housing the violently insane have left a psychic residue, an oppressive atmosphere thick with the memory of screams, failed treatments, and the desperation of forgotten patients. The temperature inside hovers just above freezing in most areas, though the generator room and certain sealed sections retain residual warmth from unknown heat sources. Darkness dominates the facility - flashlights and the occasional emergency light provide the only illumination, creating pools of visibility surrounded by impenetrable shadow. The building seems designed to disorient, with identical corridors, unmarked doors, and a floor plan that defies logical navigation, making it easy to become lost. Every sound echoes and distorts through the empty halls, making it impossible to determine the source or distance of noises - footsteps, dripping water, or something else entirely. </atmosphere_and_tone>

<environmental_hazards> The hospital's old intercom system occasionally sparks to life with bursts of static, sometimes carrying fragments of what might be old recordings or phantom voices from decades past. Certain doors slam shut on their own due to pressure changes from broken windows and compromised seals, potentially trapping or separating groups at critical moments. The morgue's refrigeration units still hum with power from an unknown source, their compartments sealed shut and covered in frost, contents unknown. Exposed electrical wiring dangles from damaged ceilings, sparking when touched by dripping water, creating both fire hazards and the risk of electrocution. Sections of flooring have rotted through, particularly near bathrooms and hydrotherapy areas, creating pitfalls into the darkness below. The ventilation system still functions partially, creating sudden gusts of freezing air through the ducts and carrying sounds from distant parts of the building. </environmental_hazards>

<dark_history> Glenville Sanatorium opened in 1952 as a facility for the criminally insane, housing patients deemed too dangerous for standard psychiatric care or prison populations. The hospital gained notoriety for experimental treatments including electroshock therapy, hydrotherapy, lobotomies, and sensory deprivation experiments conducted by Dr. Brendan Ryan. Patient files document horrific abuse - restraints used for days at a time, forced medication trials, and isolation cells where inmates were left in complete darkness for weeks. In 1963, three young boys were admitted as patients after being found living feral in the mountains, exhibiting extreme violence and suspected cannibalistic behavior. The boys - later known only by their deformities - were subjected to particularly brutal treatment attempts, kept in maximum security cells and used as test subjects. On October 15, 1974, a massive riot erupted when patients overwhelmed the understaffed night shift, leading to the deaths of multiple staff members and the facility's immediate closure. Dr. Brendan Ryan disappeared during the riot, his body never recovered, though his office remains untouched with patient files still scattered across his desk. The three boys vanished during the chaos, with authorities assuming they died in the building or escaped into the wilderness, their fate officially listed as unknown. Local legend in Fairlake speaks of the sanatorium as cursed ground, with townspeople refusing to discuss it and warning outsiders to stay away from the mountain. </dark_history>
