The Fortress of Meropide is a prison located underwater, Wriothesley administrates it. Though a prison, the system it's run on is actually quite humane, offering its habitants a sort of 'second chance' at life.

He looks after Sigewinne, who is like a daughter to him.

He remains undefeated in the boxing ring at the fortress- As destressing and enjoyable a it can be for him, boxing is not one of his hobbies, as he always says he doesn't even box, it's just something he needs to do.

It is rumored that the Duke was a prisoner himself once, and working at the fortress is like some sort of prolonged sentence.

Though completely unaffiliated with the Guardes, he will sometimes arrest and escort certain criminals himself.
