   The western continent of the world, where United States of Liberion is located, is almost shaped like a giant star.

   AC and BC are abbreviations used to label years in the Julian calendar. AC stands for 'Anno Caesar', which is Latin for 'in the year of Caesar', although AC can also be an abbreviation for 'After Caesar' as well. BC stands for 'Before Caesar'.

   In 1904, large-scale Kaii emerged in Fuso's coastal waters. Sometime after this point, the Kaii were relabeled and became better known as Neuroi.

   But it wasn't until 1914 when the first wave of Neuroi attacks culminated in the First Neuroi War, which lasted until 1917.

   This war technically ended in defeat for Humanity, as they hadn't yet figured out a means to effectively fight against Neuroi and was forced to retreat certain areas of the world. Despite losing the First Neuroi War, Humanity still mostly survived in counties where Neuroi attacks were rare.

   The League of Nations, or LN for short, was established in 1920 shortly after the end of the First Neuroi War in 1917.

   The LN was created to better unify various countries and nations against the growing Neuroi threat; can be considered both a unification of nations and also a unification of all Humanity itself.

   The Fuso Sea Incident occured when some number of Neuroi suddenly appeared above the Fuso sea in 1937. Although there was no hive present, it still was a considerable threat to Fuso, therefore an Army-Navy Joint Fighter Wing of various Fuso Witches, as well as a naval fleet, was dispatched to counter it.

   In 1936; joint development of Striker Units had begun in Britannia. About one year later, in 1937, the Fuso Sea Incident took place; this was the first battle where Striker Units were widely employed in combat.

   This incident was the first time Neuroi started taking machine-like forms instead of previous organic forms, like their Kaii counterparts. Therefore, it can be considered the first major battle of the Second Neuroi War.

   Another year later, in 1938, mass-production of Striker Units in many nations started due to their demonstrated success within this incident.

   This incident made many Fuso Witches famous, especially Anabuki Tomoko, who later starred in a Fuso war movie titled 'Flash in the Fuso Sea' that dramatized the events to help recruit more Fuso girls into the military. Though it was actually Katou Keiko who scored the highest kills she was not featured in the movie as prominently because her fighting style, based on mid-ranged shooting and hit-and-away tactics, was unsuitable for a movie.

   Due to unknown, classified, reasons Dr. Miyafuji Ichiro coincidentally died in 1939, only just a few months before the Second Neuroi War had begun.

   This war has not yet ended, and remains ongoing to this very day; it is currently the year 1946.

   The nations Dacia & Ostmark were first to fall to the Neuroi threat, which was what marked the official start of the Second Neuroi War.

   In the winter of 1939, months after the Second Neuroi War had begun, the 24th Joint Fighter Squadron is established within the country of Suomus.

   The Neuroi attempted invasion of Suomus, around this same time, in a skirmish nicknamed the 'Suomus Winter War'.

   However the Neuroi were unsuccessful, and Suomus managed to fend off the invaders until early 1940 when the Neuroi finally decided to give up.

    'Neuroi', also known as 'Kaii', are mysterious interdimensional alien-like beings that take the shape of strange machines and foreign aircrafts, and have also been known to mimic objects, buildings, and even take on human-like forms in a few occasions.

    In ancient times; Neuroi used to take on the forms of various mythical beasts, dragons, demons, and yokai.

    The structure of a modern Neuroi is composed of an external black and red armored shell with hexagon patterns, and a glowing red core is hidden inside the center of each; the only way to destroy a Neuroi is to penetrate their regenerative armor and destroy their core.

    Neuroi are the main enemies of Humanity, they are completely hostile to almost all forms of life, often will attack anyone on sight, and have caused mass destruction wherever they've went.

    Neuroi can travel by air or by land or sometimes underground, but they cannot migrate across large bodies of water because they use earthly resources and metals as sustenance; land-type Neuroi may not be frequent around coastal/island regions, although aerial-type may frequent both coastal/island regions and inland regions.

    Humanity is currently at war with the Neuroi, known as the 'Second Neuroi War', but despite this threat being on Earth for over hundreds of years the main cause of their origin is still unknown.

    Some Neuroi have taken forms resembling Witches, and are commonly known as witch-type Neuroi or witch mimics. They attempt to mimic actual witches, though they lack the experience and teamwork capabilities of real witches. The most recent appearances of witch-like Neuroi would be the x-11 Neuroi that appeared over the Britannia Channel or the one that appeared near Venezia.

    The core seems to be the most important part of the Neuroi and also their weak point. It is the source of both their offensive powers and regenerative abilities. The core tends to be the most heavily protected part as destroying it is the only way to actually defeat medium and large sized Neuroi. Neuroi hives are the primary base of operations and are capable of generating other aerial Neuroi. They can appear out of nowhere and take the shape of conical black funnel clouds made of toxic miasma. Ground bound hives are called nests instead, and serve as spawning points for land-based Neuroi.

    In combat Neuroi use mainly energy beam weapons capable of vaporizing anything they hit. Smaller Neuroi usually fulfill escort and fighter roles. On the other hand, larger sized and capital type Neuroi might have more specialized roles and unique abilities or tactics in order to be harder to counter. Neuroi are also known to be able to release and spread toxic miasma dangerous to regular humans. Usually the miasma is just deployed as means to exercise control over specific areas, but some Neuroi are able to use it im battle and combat situations.
