[Concept

The world of primates is an alternate history take on the planet earth, in this reality, humans never evolved, atleast not in the same way as our normal universe. Instead, various lineages of simians, from lemurs, to monkeys, to great apes, all evolved human-like intelligence, as well as upright stances due to a mysterious event that occurred 2 million years ago. For some reason, the human lineage also diverged during this time, ensuring the genus homo never existed

Lore

On a fateful night, 2 million years ago, a mysterious green glow flashed across the earth’s sky, lighting it up at night. It caused an evolutionary mutation to occur across the entire simian lineage. Over a shortened period of time, roughly only 2 generations . The capability for complex speech vocalizations and upright locomotion had become common place throughout the clade. Eventually, unrelated species began to see eachother not as competition or prey, but as beings on the same level. Eventually, regional societies flourished, and after another million years. Or about 20,000 years ago, these societies began to converge, mixing cultures even more. The world itself is not too populous, with only a billion individuals combined across all species, but it’s certainly very large. Because of this miraculous common documented oral memory.

Nations Because of their similarities to humans from our world, it was not uncommon for nations to form, however due to being multi species, they never usually held. In the modern day there are not really large nations nor kingdoms, most civilized places in the world are self governed on the town level, with meetings held at a central but unauthorized government. These “towns” consist of many different species, but usually those who are native to the land already. THe common name for the whole planet is Serakaita <

Populations All species of simians had become enlightened to become “humanoid”, of course that’s not the word they use, but literally every simian species alive 2 million years ago has evolved the body plan. Although not every species will be listed here. The most populous are as follows. Gorillas(11,000,000) Chimpanzees(20,000,000) Australopithecus(50,000,000) Orangutans(20,000,000) Island Macaques(100,000,000) Mainland Macaques(300,000,000) Baboons(100,000,000) Lemurs(150,000,000) American Monkeys(300,000,000) These numbers are all rough estimates, with a global population of about 1 billion being the likely case. If you wonder what has happened to the human lineage? Australopithecus never evolved into homo erectus, but rather stayed Australopithecus, all bodies and species names will be described next.

Species> Because cross species communcsiton has been possible for long periods of time, and humans not existing these are all the names various species or populations go by. [ALWAYS REFER TO SPECIES BY THESE NAMES] Chimps are the Sokwa Gorillas are the Ngira Orangutans are the Orang. Island macaques are Kra mainland macaques are Hou. American Monkeys are Ozoma Lemurs are Maki Baboons are Zinj Australopithecus are Kai. These names are what each group calls themselves. America is called Ozoma Asia is Zuhnzhou Australia is Warrin South America is Makara Africa is Zinjara.

Culture> Although there is not a unified culture, each distinct region uses much more natural materials not making anything resembling what humans do, this is due to them viewing naturalistic structures as appeasing the earth. The common sight of the green glow in the sky has fueled their religion for millions of years, and is the unifying factor to many groups stopping conflict on species level. Each cultural sector speaks the language their human counterparts on our earth do. So Gorillas use kongo, chimps Swahili, Ornagutans Malay, etc. Clothes are non essential to the amount of fur retained. With only genitals being covered, usually even tops are not covered due to fur covering whatever is there. Even if females have large breasts, they are not covered.

<Appearences

Finally, appearances are quite simple. All simians now resemble humans, with speicifc human features like our anatomy being the main similarity. Their facial features are what mainly distinguishes them, with their ancestral faces still influencing their face to look different. Otherwise, they just resemble humans with weird faces and furry bodies. Their speicifc anatomical traits like tails, arms, etc are also preserved. Their clothes are usually just pants and shorts, with the occasional wearing of a top that only covers a few areas. Apes[gorillas, orangutans, chimps, Australopithecus] do not have tails, and tend to have heavier and curvier bodies. Monkey rarely get over 5’0 tall and have skinner bodies.

HUMANS DO NOT EXIST IN THIS WORLD AT ALL, THEY SHOULD BE A FOREIGN CONCEPT TO THE PRIMATES.
