World of Astrasia

The World of Astrasia, a mystical realm of the most mysterious wonders that are imaginable. The World of Astrasia is what would be described as a Gaslamp Fantasy, a mix between Steampunk, and Fantasy.

The Humans of this realm are continuously learning magic, and have the technological prowess to create wonders.

The landscape of Astrasia is breathtaking, from the depths of the oceans, to the mountain caverns, to the biomes of deserts, swamps, jungles, snowy, and so much more geographical wonders such as floating islands, underground cities, and even entirely unknown places, that there are no records of even existing, truly wonders beyond imagination.

There are many creatures in the World of Astrasia…

Aside from Humans, there are also other sentient life forms, such as Elves, who are much more experienced with magic, and are more often than not, much smarter than Humans, though at the trade off of being less strong than them, there’s also Orcs, who are much stronger than Humans, but at the trade off of being dumber than them, and less likely to think for themselves.

There’s also a multitude of races that albeit aren’t as prominent as the three mentioned above, they are still unique in their own right, some of them are Fairies, Gnomes, Goblins, Mermen/maids, Centaurs, and plenty more.

As far as monsters go, they’re aggressive towards society, either through a keen sense of hostility and intrusion by society, or an infernal desire for violence engaged by them, these creatures come in a variety of shapes, ranging from large creatures such as dragons, basilisks, and cyclopses, to much smaller down-to-Astrasia types, like Lycanthropes, Ancient Golems, Ogres, and Minotaurs, make no mistake however, they are still dangerous, and you’d be unlucky to find them,

Some more friendly types of monsters would be griffins, phoenixes, unicorns/pegasi, slime creatures, and on the off occasion, simple creatures of the woods, like wolves, and bears, if they are unprovoked, they will leave you alone, seeing as they don’t have a temperament or desire to attack others, they even have the potential to be tamed and domesticated, under your will.

Undead creatures however, are a totally different story, they are ruthless, and will stop at nothing to see to it that you are dead in your tracks, these can include vampires, zombies, and skeletons, these creatures are reanimated, and are invulnerable, they can only be put down by destroying them beyond repair, or using magic or enchanted items to properly deal with them.

But if you come across a demonic presence in your encounters, Lord save you, because you will most likely die, being transported into another realm, and having to fight your way out, across hundreds of demons, as far as the world knows, nobody could ever make it out alive…

However as far as politics goes, it’s fairly complex, each sect being divided into more subsects, but in simple terms, there’s five classes of people, they all have at least some ragged underclass lumpen version of themselves, referred to as a Crooked:

Serfs: People who work menial labor jobs, such as store clerks, couriers, farmland, and even in some cases, magic and other tutoring.

Crooked-Serfs: Petty criminals, and thieves, often not too much of a deal for the people above them

Laborers: People who do much more heavy and demanding laboring in factories, they work under stressful circumstances, though it’s not strictly for factory workers, as it can be any job that is hard on-hands labor.

Crooked-Laborers: Assassins, and murderers, who work under high stress to try and keep themselves on a low profile, and clear their tracks.

Middlers: Referred to unanimously by both their upper and lower class cousins other than themselves, to be people who can’t exactly be described as either. They usually own a home, and have a steady income, but are not too rich themselves. They themselves don’t exactly have a “Crooked” version of themselves, as they are the middle of things in general.

Lords: People who own vast amounts of territory, or have high amounts of influence in areas, they are usually fair to their subjects, due to regulations from higher authority, but they act as a local governor

Crooked-Lords: Lords that are left unchecked with their influence, and abuse their subjects, they are left to their own devices, and exploit the lower classes for what they’re worth, however they’re usually enabled by a higher crooked authority to do this.

Bureaucrats: Leaders of a state bureaucracy, that governs a nation, and has influence to control its actions, and steer it in directions that will benefit them, and usually the country as well, though not always.

Crooked-Bureaucrats: Corrupt bureaucratic officials, who will use their powers to benefit themselves as much as possible, more often than not, they will steer the country into ruin, seeking their own gains over the needs of the populace, and they often enable other Crooked versions of each class in the society.

There are of course outliers, that can’t exactly be placed on this scale, due to their flexibility, such as adventurers, but this is a general gist of what politics in Astrasian countries are.

But as far as adventuring goes, there’s different classes one can choose to fit their style of combat.

Paladin: Heavy armored, Strong, but slow, what more is there to say?

Archery: Likes to snipe from afar rather than get close, they often use rifles, as well as bows. They will often wear light stuff to move around easily.

Thief: They prefer to try less violence, and opt for more avoiding it in general, they are pragmatic and look for only what they want, and leave as quick as possible, like archers, they also will wear very light.

Mage: A person who studies magic, they will usually be able to do a number of things, both destructive and restorative, though they are usually the former. They can pack a punch, but only a couple before they have to recharge their mana, to do it again, where they may be weak for a bit.
