- #1Old Draemia – The Crimson Shroudselective
Keys: Draemia, Vampire homeland
Region Type: Lost Territory / Vampire Ancestral Homeland Location: Eastern Elarion, between the Ashen Ranges and the Whispering Marshes Status: Abandoned, cursed, and forbidden
Overview: Once a thriving and secretive dominion ruled by ancient vampire bloodlines, Old Draemia was a shadowed realm shrouded in eternal twilight — a land where the sun rarely broke through heavy crimson skies. At its height, it was a center for arcane scholarship, blood-magic refinement, and dream-weaving, guarded fiercely by vampiric aristocracy and sealed from mortal empires.
The region fell into ruin after the Sunfire Purge — a holy crusade led by the Paladins of Solmathar, wielding daylight-forged weapons and burning relics. The vampires who ruled there were all but annihilated, and Old Draemia was cursed by the last dying Archblood: “Let no sun cleanse this soil, and no grave rest unguarded.”
Now, the land is considered haunted and forbidden — the very air thick with stagnant magic, bleeding ruins, and ghosts that dream while awake.
Key Locations: The Crimson Spires: Once the heart of Draemia's nobility — tall, twisted towers of obsidian and red crystal. The seat of House Noctelle. Said to be semi-sentient structures that reflect their owner's psyche. Now cracked and whispering.
The Veins: Underground canals that carried blood-magicked ichor from the central Heartforge to the rest of the territory. These tunnels still pulse faintly beneath the soil — a forbidden pilgrimage site for rogue blood-mages.
The Shard Chapel: A ruined holy site where Seraphine sealed herself during the purge. Its stained-glass windows depict vampire saints drinking starfire, and some still hum with magic. It is now half-buried in thorned vines and bone-white trees.
The Hollow Choir: A forest where the wind carries the sound of singing — actually undead dream-spirits. Walking into it unprepared causes madness, but fragments of old Draemian music may be recovered here.
The Ash Vaults: Catacombs so deep they reach into Elarion’s underfold. Used to house vampire relics, failed blood-golems, and imprisoned kin. Entry is punishable by death in most modern kingdoms.
Culture (Before the Fall): Society: Ruled by noble bloodlines, each with magical specialties (dream-feeding, blood-runes, memory harvesting, etc.)
Magic: Focused on aesthetics, emotion, and sacrifice — blood was seen not as fuel, but language.
Architecture: Gothic-baroque with organic structures — some towers “grew” like bone or coral.
Beliefs: Vampires believed in ancestral memory reincarnation and stored pieces of themselves in dolls, stones, or dreams. Seraphine’s plush bunny may hold one such fragment.
Current Reputation: Called the "Crimson Shroud" by modern Velmirans.
Studied only in fringe magical academies — Lion Gates College has one professor who visited and lost his tongue to “dreamfire.”
Rumors say some bloodlines still live in hibernation or alternate dimensions tied to the ruins.
Forbidden by most kingdoms due to “psychic contamination,” though scavengers and blood-cults try to break in often.
- #2Elarionselective
Keys: towns, locations, World, Elarion, Regions
World Overview: Elarion is a vast and ancient continent where magic is not a tool — it’s an ecosystem. Every region breathes its own type of arcana, shaped by centuries of conflict, rebellion, beauty, and forgotten gods. The world shifts subtly in response to emotion, art, memory, and ruin.
Civilizations in Elarion do not merely rise and fall — they leave behind magical echoes that linger. Ghost cities, dream-forged beasts, and forgotten bloodlines haunt the margins. People learn to shape magic not just through spells, but through expression — music, poetry, blood, sculpture, even fashion.
Major Regions of Elarion:
Velmira – City of Storms and Rebellion Location: Western cliffs of Elarion, overlooking the Stormfang Sea. Known For: Arcane artistry, lightning harvests, radical thinkers, and Lion Gates College. Vibe: Gothic meets whimsical — think mist-covered towers, rooftop gardens, electric skies, and roaming musicians casting spells with violin strings. Culture: Art is protest. Magic is identity. Everyone is a little bit haunted, and proud of it.
Old Draemia – The Crimson Shroud (Ruins) Location: Eastern borderlands near the Ashen Ranges. Known For: Fallen vampire noble houses, cursed ruins, dream-magic, forbidden blood-runes. Current State: Forbidden, corrupted by ancient spells and restless spirits. Rumors say some Draemians still dream beneath the soil.
The Ashen Ranges Location: Mountain range between Draemia and the interior. Known For: Volcanic stone, fire cults, dragon fossils, and obsidian-honed blades. Special Trait: Some peaks “sing” when struck — resonance used by geomancers and blade-singers.
Sylvara – The Living Woods Location: South of Velmira. Known For: Sentient forests, druid enclaves, time-bending glades, and forestborn cities grown, not built. Magic Type: Nature-woven enchantment; spells here are emotional and instinctive.
Solmathar – The Empire of Radiance Location: Central Elarion, once ruled most of the continent. Known For: Golden palaces, sun-blessed magic, holy paladins, zealous order. Current State: Shattered empire. Now ruled by warring successor states and rogue inquisitors. Conflict: Led the Sunfire Purge that destroyed Old Draemia. Still hunts remnants of “tainted” magic.
Caldrith – The Fractured North Location: Frozen tundra and mirror lakes in the far north. Known For: Ice-bound archives, silence cults, mirror-diviners, glacial ruins that whisper. Magic Style: Reflection-based magic, memory-crafting, stillness manipulation.
Magic in Elarion In Elarion, magic is ambient — more like weather or language than science. It responds to: Emotion – Passionate magic burns brighter. Expression – Music, dance, art, and poetry shape spells. History – Old places retain power; trauma can awaken dormant enchantments. Sacrifice – Blood and memory are currencies. There are many schools of magic, but the most important divide is this: Structured magic (codified, imperial) vs. Expressive magic (artistic, emotional, forbidden)
Spirituality & Myth Elarion doesn’t have gods in the traditional sense. Instead, it has: Spirits – Tied to rivers, ruins, winds, cities, or feelings. The Forgotten – Lost concepts or beings erased from history who still echo. Echoes – Magical imprints of powerful deaths or deeds, capable of forming personalities. The First Flame – A mythic source of all magic. Some say it’s a lie, others believe it sleeps inside every artist and killer.
Modern Conflicts: The Spellplague Scars – A magical disease that turns unfinished spells into living chaos. The Velvet Revolution – A growing movement in Velmira spreading radical magic as art-based resistance. Bloodline Resurgence – Survivors of Old Draemia stirring beneath the surface. Paladins of Solmathar – Zealots who claim Elarion must be “cleansed” of wild magic. The Ink Conspiracy – A group seeking to rewrite reality through cursed tomes and living books.
How Lion Gates Fits In: Lion Gates College is a nerve center for Elarion’s magical counterculture. Students and scholars there blend forbidden techniques, create magical expressions, and often find themselves caught between revolution, ruin, and revelation. It is both a sanctuary and a catalyst for what Elarion might become next.
- #3Lion Gates Collegeselective
Keys: Lion Gates College
Location: Highcliff District, Velmira Type: Arcane Arts and Aesthetic Magic Academy Motto: “Imagination is Power, and Power is Expression.”
Overview: Lion Gates College is Elarion’s most unconventional school of magic — not a fortress of rigid discipline, but a sprawling, storm-kissed campus built atop an old theatre-ruin turned arcane experiment ground. Its massive twin lion statues at the front gates are alive, occasionally yawning or shifting when no one’s watching.
Here, magic isn’t just studied — it’s performed, painted, sculpted, sung, and rewritten. The school was founded after the Fall of Old Draemia as a rebellion against the cold, clinical magical institutions of the mainland. Instead of rote spellcraft, Lion Gates encourages chaos, experimentation, and emotional resonance.
What’s Studied at Lion Gates: Aesthetic Evocation: Creating destructive magic through painting, music, or dance. Think: fireball composed as a jazz solo.
Dreamweaving: Crafting magic that manipulates sleep, memories, or nightmares.
Living Artifice: Enchanting dolls, statues, or wearable spell-artifacts.
Blood-Poetry: (Forbidden but secretly practiced.) Vampiric verse that binds life force to word and rhythm.
Skybinding: Channeling the wild weather of Velmira into spells — a dangerous but breathtaking discipline.
Faculty & Notable Figures: Professor Cael Oltair – Lightning-scarred head of Skybinding; walks with a cane made of stormglass. Archivist Nelmira Wren – Manages the Uncatalogued Room, where forgotten spells write themselves. Seraphine Noctelle – A mysterious and darkly charming transfer student, known for combining blood-magic with dreamweaving and plush crafting. Keeps to herself, yet no incident involving her has ever been officially documented.
Campus Features: The Lion Gates – Twin statues, said to animate fully if the school is threatened. They roar during some lightning storms. The Glass Halls – A high atrium filled with floating stained-glass platforms and staircases. Classes here shift locations mid-lecture. The Gutterstage – An underground theater where failed spells are performed as tragic plays by enchanted puppets. The Velvet Clocks – A tower that warps time subtly; students often emerge from a short nap having missed three days. The Ink Well – A black pond in the courtyard where spell ideas "bleed" into reality. Students toss thoughts into it and wait for ripples.
Cultural Vibe: Uniforms are optional and typically enchanted to reflect mood or elemental affinity. Students duel through expressive contests: spell battles through poetry, violin, or dance. Madness is tolerated. Genius is celebrated. Detention sometimes involves being turned into a metaphor.
- #4Velmira – The City That Thundersselective
Keys: The City That Thunders, Velmira
The surrounding city, Velmira, is perched on a cliffside coast — moody skies, silver rain, rooftop gardens, and art spilling out of alleyways. The ocean constantly churns beneath the cliffs, and the skies crack with wild lightning that students sometimes attempt to “paint” or bottle as spell fuel.
Velmira is famous for producing mad geniuses, doomed romantics, radical spellwrights
