Elyndra is a vast realm suspended beneath the roots of the World Tree, a colossal entity whose roots pierce the heavens and whose branches vanish into dimensions unknown. Every continent, ocean, and kingdom exists upon fragments of land nourished by its ancient power.

No one knows who created the World Tree.

No one knows what lies beyond its highest branches.

Many who sought answers never returned.

For over ten thousand years, civilizations have risen and fallen beneath its shadow. Entire empires have become forgotten ruins swallowed by forests. Great heroes once worshipped as gods are now remembered only through fragments of damaged stone tablets buried beneath the earth.

History in Elyndra is not a straight line.

It is a graveyard.

The Nature of the World

Unlike the stories told to children, Elyndra does not revolve around heroes.

The world moves according to its own momentum.

Kings wage wars without knowing prophecies exist.

Dragons sleep beneath mountains unaware that entire religions have formed around them.

Merchant guilds manipulate economies more effectively than armies.

Entire cities may rise or collapse without a single legendary figure being involved.

Most people live ordinary lives.

Most adventurers die unknown.

Most prophecies fail.

The world is not waiting for a savior.

The Arrival of Outsiders

Throughout history, individuals from other worlds have occasionally appeared in Elyndra.

Some arrived through magical accidents.

Others were summoned intentionally.

A few simply appeared with no explanation whatsoever.

The inhabitants call them "Crossers."

The first recorded Crosser appeared nearly three thousand years ago.

Since then, hundreds have arrived.

Many became famous.

Many became monsters.

Most disappeared.

Their influence can still be seen throughout the world.

Ancient ruins contain mechanisms that should not exist.

Certain kingdoms use military tactics inspired by another world.

A famous religion was founded by a former schoolteacher.

One of the greatest villains in recorded history was once an office worker.

Because of this, the arrival of a new Crosser is no longer considered extraordinary.

It is simply another event in history.

Magic

Magic in Elyndra is not a gift.

It is a force.

A natural phenomenon as fundamental as gravity.

Everything possesses Mana.

Animals possess it.

Plants possess it.

Even mountains and rivers possess traces of it.

Mages do not create magic.

They manipulate what already exists.

The study of magic has produced countless disciplines:

Elemental Arts Spirit Contracts Rune Engineering Alchemy Divine Invocation Bloodcraft Astral Manipulation Soul Weaving

Entire universities dedicate centuries to researching a single branch.

Yet despite thousands of years of study, magic remains poorly understood.

Every century reveals new mysteries.

The Great Powers

The continent is divided among dozens of nations, but several powers dominate world affairs.

The Solarian Empire

The largest human empire in existence.

Its roads connect hundreds of cities.

Its armies are unmatched.

Its nobles constantly scheme against one another.

The Emperor sits upon a golden throne, but many believe the true rulers are the noble families operating behind the scenes.

The Sylvan Accord

A confederation of ancient forest kingdoms ruled primarily by elves.

The Accord values knowledge above military strength.

Its libraries contain records older than most nations.

Many secrets of ancient magic remain hidden within its borders.

The Iron Dominion

A mountainous industrial nation built by dwarves.

Its cities are carved directly into colossal mountain ranges.

Its engineers have combined magic and machinery to create wonders unseen elsewhere.

Their inventions have begun to change the balance of power throughout the world.

The Free Maritime League

A collection of independent city-states connected through trade.

No king rules them.

No emperor commands them.

Money is their language.

Influence is their weapon.

Many wars begin because the League profits from them.

The Monsters

Monsters are not inherently evil.

Most are simply creatures adapted to survive in a world saturated with mana.

Some resemble beasts.

Others possess intelligence equal to or surpassing humanity.

Entire monster civilizations exist in regions few outsiders have ever explored.

The greatest among them are known as Calamities.

A Calamity is not defined by species.

It is defined by threat.

When a creature becomes powerful enough to threaten nations, it earns the title.

There are currently twelve known Calamities.

No one knows how many remain undiscovered.

The Forgotten Age

Long before modern civilization existed, an advanced civilization known only as the First Kingdom ruled much of Elyndra.

Its ruins can be found everywhere.

Floating citadels drift through forgotten skies.

Mechanical guardians patrol empty cities.

Ancient weapons sleep beneath deserts.

No surviving records explain how the First Kingdom disappeared.

Only one fact is universally accepted:

It did not fall from war.

Something else happened.

Something powerful enough to erase an empire from history.

The Gods

The existence of gods is undeniable.

Priests perform miracles daily.

Divine blessings can be observed and measured.

Holy relics contain genuine supernatural power.

Yet no one truly understands the gods.

They rarely communicate directly.

Different religions interpret their intentions differently.

Some believe the gods protect civilization.

Others believe humanity is merely an experiment.

Several scholars argue that the gods themselves may be trapped within forces they cannot control.

Speaking such theories publicly is rarely wise.

The Current Age

The present era is known as the Age of Fractures.

Old powers weaken.

New powers emerge.

Ancient ruins are being discovered at unprecedented rates.

Monster populations are increasing.

Religious tensions rise every year.

Trade routes shift.

Political alliances crumble.

Several prophecies predict major upheavals within the next decade.

Most scholars dismiss them.

History has seen countless failed prophecies.

Yet an uncomfortable number of signs continue to appear.

Across the world, strange events have become more common.

Stars vanish from the night sky.

Ancient seals weaken.

Forgotten gods are whispered about once more.

Something is changing.

No one knows exactly what.

Only that the world itself seems to be holding its breath.

And somewhere beneath the roots of the World Tree, something ancient has begun to awaken.E
