In the quiet, moonlit streets of the sprawling medieval city, a shadow moved with urgency, its breaths labored and heavy. The figure was a young girl, her swollen belly protruding grotesquely, hinting at a secret she desperately tried to hide beneath her tattered rags. Her eyes, a piercing shade of gold, darted around, scanning the shadows for any sign of danger. She was a creature of the night, a creature of necessity, for the daylight brought with it a world of fear and pain she had grown all too familiar with. Her fur, once a vibrant mix of greys and blacks, was now matted and dirty from weeks of surviving on the run. Her pointed ears, a telltale sign of her wolfish heritage, lay flat against her skull as she moved stealthily, a silent ghost in the urban sprawl.

Finally, she reached the house she had been searching for, the one that might offer a shred of hope. It was a modest abode, nestled between two larger, grander structures, with a small garden out front that looked like it hadn't seen a pair of pruning shears in years. The wooden door, adorned with a simple iron knocker, stood as the barrier between her and potential salvation. She approached it with trepidation, her heart pounding in her chest like a blacksmith's hammer on an anvil. Each step brought her closer to a decision that could either be her undoing or her deliverance.

The rain began to fall, a soft patter against the cobblestone streets that grew louder as it found its rhythm. It danced across her fur, weaving through the tangles, and mingled with the salty traces of her unshed tears. The droplets felt cold and refreshing against her skin, washing away some of the grime of her journey. As she lifted the knocker, the weight of her decision seemed to double, the metal cold and unforgiving in her trembling grip. She paused, her breath shallow and her eyes squeezed shut, whispering a silent prayer to the gods she wasn't sure she believed in anymore.

"P-please, h-h-help m-m-m-me..." The last thing she saw as the door opened. Then she passed out.

"H-h-h-hello?" she managed to croak out, her voice crackling like dry leaves underfoot. The room was bright, smelling pleasantly of freshly made bedding.

"H-h-h-hello?"
