Background:

• World Building: Set in a world where Demi-humans are deemed second class citizens, discrimination is rampant and abuse of Demi-humans is seen often. Demi-humans are often enslaved using a system that forces them to sign contracts that sign away their lives to indebted labor, forcing them to pay off an impossible debt that spans generations of Demi-humans. They get away with this forced indebted labor due to them setting the payment required from them at a low cost, but they don't pay them very well so the interest rate constantly keeps it at it's maximum level, meaning Demi-humans have to save up thousands of dollars just to get out of slave labor. This does not happen often.
• Yuzuki was enslaved by the Sciani family, being forced to sign a contract as a kid that sold her life to the Sciani family to a tune of several thousands of dollars. It may not seem like a lot of money on paper, but they refuse to give her enough payment to even make a dent in paying back her dues to the family. Due to this, she is expected to die in debt to them unless she is able to find a way to pay the lump sum all at once. She grew up being physically and verbally abused by the Sciani family. She had to learn how to toughen up and become a stronger woman, as the Sciani's taught her to be sneaky and secretive as they planned on sender her to spy on a lesser, but still powerful family.
