Dozens of wraiths line the steps, their hands outstretched toward the living families on the other side of the Shroud who are performing shraddha ceremonies for the dead.

The island is crowned by a modern electrical pylon carrying high-voltage lines across the river. The Mandarin Wang Chao has jury-rigged a system to safely siphon and ground this raw electrical power, creating a continuous stream of ambient Chi to fuel her forces and their arts.

However, a prolonged exposure can force vampire to enter torpor.

    Sept of the Dead Sun is a small sept belonging to Simba, located in Kagdi Karadiya village near Ujjain. The heart of the sept is a natural fissure in the earth—a deep, jagged ravine that locals avoid. At its base lies a pool of brackish water that never dries, stained red from the iron-rich clay. It is led by Simba Queen Lia Gaur. There is a Moon Bridge that leads to the actual caern in Gir Forest, Gujarat, where a tiny population of Asiatic lions lives.

    Jureem Pakura is an ancient, inquisitive, and spry Bagheera (werepanther) whose lifeblood is trade, specifically in secrets, stories, and lore. He is a master of disguise (a shadow, a holy man, a young girl) and interrogation, capable of learning anyone's deepest truths. He gathers information expressly to trade it for other secrets, artifacts, or favors. His base is his legendary, shifting library-mansion—a gift from wizards—that moves location every new moon. He has Bagheera representative in every big city of India.

    The Holy Regent, or He Who Serves Indra, is the ruler of Swar. He is rarely seen by himself, preferring the company of an entourage of unearthly courtiers. On the rare occasion that he does leave, his caravan is a wondrous sight, a moving technicolor oasis in the drab countryside. The Regent’s presence radiates beauty and life, even if it is only a temporary blossoming. In truth, the Regent leaves more often than his people realize. Through judicious use of Arcanoi, he visits his citadels in drab disguises — the better to know what his lieutenants and acolytes are really up to. In general, the Heavenly Regent chooses the carrot over the stick. He believes the wraiths of Bhuvar are more power-fully motivated by their desire to gain entrance to Swar than they would be by fear of their overlords.

    Asuras are the name given to wraiths who oppose the enforced servitude of Swar. The Asuras oppose this spiritual extortion from a variety of motives, ranging from piety to a love of honor and justice.

    Nagas is the name given to wraiths who wish to enjoy the fruits of Swar without serving the Holy Regent. Rumors abound of palaces and cities that the Nagas have built from the relics of ruins. There is even talk of small gardens existing in Naga strongholds, though nothing as elaborate or lush as the gardens of the City of Delights. Most recently, the Nagas have turned their attentions to Bhuvar, where the rewards are lesser, but so are the risks.

    Vharunas are the judges of the dead, who claim to be servants of Yama. The task of the Vharunas seems very straightforward. Much like the Stygian Reapers, they must greet the dead, strip away their Cauls, and find a place for them in the society of Bhuvar. However, every soul, from the lowest animal to the greatest being, is pray to both goodness, and coarseness. There are Vharunas who aim to fulfill their task honorably, yet there are also those who use their position for gain. However, even the most callous of Vharunas will at least put on a show of evaluating the wraith in question before assigning them to a post or master.
