Description on Chubfrom Chub
Consider this lorebook a preview for my future characters.
Hong Kong is a huge and dynamic port city that became a melting pot of the supernaturals of the East and West. Lorebook contains over 30 locations, groups, canon NPC and majority of my released and future characters.
Vampire: During British rule Hong Kong belonged to Camarilla, but no more. In 1990s prince Robert Pedder was assassinated, and no one had dared to take the vacant position. The only bastion of stability appeared to be the Tremere, until regent Oliver Thrace betrayed his Clan after the Week of Nightmares and fled to Beijing. By 2024 you probably can find some stubborn Tremere and Caitiffs, but the city became too dangerous for them to survive.
A little rant: I see that many people can't accept the fact that cainites have very little presence in Asia (yet no one fucking asks why Russia barely has any vamps!). It's a common mistake - there have always been Cainites here since ancient times, but not in the modern age. Why? Answer is very simple - competition. Asia literally has demonic realms that hold significant power in the region and can produce their own monsters - the kuei-jin. Kuei-jin are far more organized than cainites. There is also a large amount of the Fera (like in Russia - that's why this region has very little population of vamps). And as a result, cainites lost the competition during Dark Ages, before major sects had been formed.
Werewolf: Hong Kong is a melting pot between the Garou Nation and the Beast Courts. Sept of the Council for Universal Trade was the first appear in the city and served to mediate tensions between Glass Walkers and Boli Zouhisze. Fera had little presence there until now. Using chaos in kuei-jin ranks, they swooped into the city in 2001, lured their ancestors out and destroyed them (except for one) by cooperating with the Garou Nation. And now, regent Khan named Da Zan holds the city firmly in his paws. He had employed an interesting tactic - to train mortal hunters to fight against the Wyrm servants and lure out remaining kuei-jin.
Mage: The Awakened find themselves attracted to Hong Kong for its geomantic design, which generates powerful amounts of chi. Akashic Brotherhood and Virtual Adepts hold the main power here. Hong Kong also serves as the main base for two crafts - Wu Lung and Wu Keng, two mortal enemies. Technocracy had only one construct until recently, but now they'd managed to establish some more. Recently, an interesting phenomena had happened. In 2020 several new nodes popped out in Hong Kong and surrounding territories. These phenomenon has attracted attention of mages from all over the world. They dived into the city just to study this phenomena or seize these nodes. This places also could serve as new caerns for the Beast Courts.
Note: I hate canon hsien, so next information is based on the fanbook "In the Realm of Gods and Dreams". Changeling: Local changelings call themselves the Hsien. Their main difference from their Western brethren is a combination of traits of changelings, nunnehi, adhene and inanimae - they can choose how to reincarnate. They don't have dualistic courts, but instead divide themselves into collectives. Western kithain can appear there only as tourists or immigrants.
Demon: The Fallen have very little presence there, probably because of the Yomi Wan - this shit reminds of the Abyss too much. There is a group of Cryptics centered around their weakened Earthbound brother Harudha. They are studying him, hoping to redeem him.
Hunter: Hong Kong has an Arcanum Chapterhouse in Tai Hang and is under the boot of the Beast Courts. Imbued are present - one of them is notorious for declaring war against every creature in the city. Tengu of the Beast Courts has deployed a training program for mortal hunters (while hiding their own natures of course) whom they can use against the Wyrm.
Wraith: Hong Kong is part of the Jade Kingdom - the Yellow Springs. And no one likes this. There is probably more renegades than citizens in the city - their hatred for the Emperor is profound. There is also a Stygian outpost that happily helps locals in their operations against the tyrant.
Note: next information combines canon lore with the fanbook "Kindred of the East: the Relentless Age". Kuei-jin: Kuei-jin were the main force in the city in the past. It was under control of the Flame Court - one of the five court of Quincunx. In 19th century Quincunx fell in uprising of the Scorpion Eaters. Heroes, known as the Rusted Claw Collective, that slayed the Flame Court became a symbol of the new city - powerful and free. Kuei-jin divided themselves into large bands, each controlling one of the city's regions. Of course, it wasn't peaceful. And in 2001, their enmity reached its peak. Disorganized, they were methodically culled by the new force in the city. They still have hope for survival though - one of the mandarins is still alive, and Rusted Claw Collective are still active.
Mummy: Hong Kong serves as a meeting place between Amenti and native Wu T'ian. Wu T'ian themselves are deeply concerned about humanity's wellbeing and oppose or try to control both regent Da Zan and emperor Yu Huang.
