- #1Duchy of Tulipsselective
Keys: Duchy of Tulips
The Duchy of Tulips is a Fief of the Kithain in the Kingdom of Flowers. This duchy includes the city of Amsterdam, with its rich heritage and cosmopolitan atmosphere. Duke Gwilliam of House Liam rules the Court of Tulips, the city’s largest freehold. He particularly welcomes commoners, especially those who are disenchanted with the complex politics of Concordia.
- #2Court of Tulips, freeholdselective
Keys: Court of Tulips, freehold
The Beurs van Berlage, on Damrak, was built in 1903 as Amsterdam’s stock exchange. It’s a brick-and-glass monument to Dutch modernism. The vast main hall — the Grote Zaal — becomes the court’s gathering space. During freehold functions, the chimerical overlay makes the tile floors ripple with floral patterns that shift with the seasons.
- #3Inner Keep, freeholdselective
Keys: Inner Keep, freehold
Location: The basement levels and forgotten archives of the Rijksmuseum, accessed through the original 1885 entrance on the Stadhouderskade side. The Rijksmuseum houses Rembrandt’s Night Watch, Vermeer’s Milkmaid, and a staggering collection of Dutch Golden Age paintings, Delftware, model ships, and historical artifacts. It also has miles of storage, conservation labs, and archives beneath the public galleries.
- #4Household of the Unheld, freeholdselective
Keys: Household of the Unheld, freehold
Household of the Unheld is a hidden freehold in Amsterdam's Red Light District, concealed within a row of ancient canal houses. This is a household of women who have spent their lives being looked at without being seen, used without being loved, needed without being wanted. They have come together not because they are whole, but because they understand brokenness in each other. The household's unofficial motto, whispered among its members: "We are all waiting for someone to hold us still." It's owned by baroness Janske Jager.
- #5Sept of the Sunken Keel, septselective
Keys: Sept of the Sunken Keel, sept
Location: The caern’s spiritual heart is the ghost of a 13th-century merchant cog, a wide-bellied vessel that sank into the marsh on which Amsterdam was built. Amsterdam’s Bone Gnawers have a different arrangement now: they are the ruling tribe of the city’s only significant Garou sept, and they have built an alliance that makes the old tribes deeply uncomfortable. Its alliance with the fae Court of Tulips gives it access to Glamour-rich spaces, protection from mortal authority, and a flow of information no other Garou sept in Europe can match. Its sept alpha meets with a Sidhe duke as an equal.
- #6Fallen Plateselective
Keys: Fallen Plate
The Pack of the Fallen Plate are a tight-knit pack of four female Bone Gnawers who operate out of a repurposed squat in Amsterdam-Noord, a derelict warehouse they call De Plaat. They are scavengers, information brokers, and a rapid-response strike team for the Sept of the Sunken Keel when subtlety isn’t required.
- #7Technocracyselective
Keys: Technocracy
The Technocratic victory is total, yet hollow. The Pogrom is a memory; Reality Deviants who keep their heads down and their coincidental magick subtle are largely ignored, not out of mercy but out of limited bandwidth. The Union’s attention is fixed on Threat Null, on global-scale existential risks, on the billion little fires that burn in the developing world and the Deep Umbra. Amsterdam, with its permissive laws and centuries-old tolerance for the eccentric, has become a kind of reservation — a city where mages can still operate relatively openly, provided they don’t embarrass the people who own the Consensus. The Progenitors maintain a small construct in the city, a ghost of the old ethnographic mission, now evolved into something darker. They just watch, and wait, and occasionally adjust the chemical composition of the water supply to nudge the local Deviants toward passivity. Amsterdam is one of the capital cities that has no local Symposium.
- #8Traditionsselective
Keys: Traditions
The Traditions that thrive here are the ones best adapted to the city’s cultural camouflage: the Cult of Ecstasy, who hide their ecstatic rites behind the veil of Amsterdam’s famous nightlife, and the Children of Knowledge, who cloak their alchemical neuro-research in the language of psychopharmacology startups and nootropic think-tanks. They hate each other.
- #9Surrender, chantryselective
Keys: chantry, Surrender
Location: A former canal-side brothel on the Oudezijds Voorburgwal, in the heart of the Red Light District. The building is narrow, four stories of leaning brick, with red-framed windows that glow warmly at night. To mortals, it’s De Laatste Zucht (“The Last Sigh”), an upscale erotic performance space and sensory lounge where patrons explore curated experiences of taste, touch, and sound. The Cult of Ecstasy in Amsterdam holds that the self is a cage, and the key is excess. They believe in breaking the ego through overload — sensory, sexual, pharmaceutical — until the practitioner stands naked before the universe without the lies of identity. Their magic is loud, bodily, and unapologetically hedonistic.
- #10Pure Compendium, chantryselective
Keys: chantry, Pure Compendium
Location: A three-story brick building on the Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal, disguised as Nootropic Labs Amsterdam, a boutique cognitive enhancement clinic. The upper floors contain alchemical laboratories, a small library of psychopharmacological texts (some from the 16th century), and a sealed meditation chamber where aspirants undergo precisely calibrated neurochemical regimens designed to induce controlled mystical states. The Children of Knowledge believe that ecstasy is a science, not a sacrament. They use designer psychedelics, neurofeedback, and precisely modulated sensory deprivation to guide students toward gnosis without the messy, traumatic excesses their rivals celebrate. They view the Cult of Ecstasy as reckless primitives, throwing themselves at the infinite like drunks at a wall.
- #11Project Cleanup, constructselective
Keys: Project Cleanup, construct
Location: A secured wing of NeuroFlora BV, a biotech startup in the Amsterdam Science Park. The public face develops “adaptive wellness supplements” — smart nootropics tailored to individual microbiome profiles. The private face of Progenitors is a monitoring and pacification operation targeting the city’s Awakened population.
- #12Silent Bastion, citadelselective
Keys: citadel, Silent Bastion
Location: The ghost of the former Admiralty Arsenal on the Oosterdok, now a sunken fortress of fused shipwrecks, peat, and rusted iron. In the living world, the site is the modern NEMO Science Museum; in the Shadowlands, the museum’s copper-green shape is buried under a mountain of spectral wrecks, a monument to the Warriors’ ethos of burial and forgetting. The Bastion is a fortress built from the bones of sunken Golden Age ships: the Gouden Leeuw, the Eendracht, a dozen smaller galleons that never saw port again. Their hulls, fused by centuries of peat and moliated into a single mass, form a labyrinthine citadel that groans constantly, as if the wood still remembers drowning.
- #13Bleeding Tulip, hauntselective
Keys: haunt, Bleeding Tulip
Location: The spectral remnant of a tulip merchant’s garden, now an open-air market in the Shadowlands’ version of the Jordaan district. A patch of ghost-flowers that bloom in impossible colors — black, phosphorescent white, bruise-purple — and drip a crimson plasm that tastes of speculation and ruin. The Bleeding Tulip is tended by a silent Heretic monk who never speaks but accepts offerings of old coins. Wraiths come here to trade memories of financial ruin: a stockbroker who jumped after the crash, a widow who sold her house for bulbs, a gambler who lost everything.
- #14Sinking Bourse, hauntselective
Keys: haunt, Sinking Bourse
Location: The submerged relic of the original 1611 stock exchange, now half-sunk in the peat beneath Damrak. A lopsided arcade of fallen arches and drowned counting rooms, where wraith merchants trade in more than commodities: souls, fetters, and stolen Pathos. The water is ankle-deep and icy, and the echoes of old trades — "buy, sell, hold" — repeat endlessly. Here, Artemus Vanderwal’s Spooks hold court in a dry corner, and the Warriors of Lethe occasionally show up to forcibly recruit a debtor. The Sinking Bourse is also where the Guild of Haunters runs an illicit "soul futures" market, betting on the untimely deaths of certain mortals.
- #15Short Chain Gate, hauntselective
Keys: haunt, Short Chain Gate
Location: A broken archway in the wall of the Old Church (Oude Kerk), scarred by the Night of Short Chains. This haunt is a memorial and a warning. When the Grim Legion occupied Amsterdam’s Necropolis, they sacked the old Anacreon’s citadel and chained the defenders to this gate. The wraiths of that battle still linger as flickering afterimages, eternally reliving their last stand. A corroded chain, each link a tiny scream, hangs across the arch. Touching it grants a vision of the occupation’s horror but also a surge of defiant Rage. The Warriors of Lethe send all new recruits here before their first battle, so they know what they fight against — and what they fight for. Some of the Spooks avoid it; others use it as a clandestine meeting point, because no one listens too hard near the screaming.
- #16Moaning Brothel, hauntselective
Keys: Moaning Brothel, haunt
Location: A house on the Zeedijk, its red-lit windows visible only to wraiths who’ve recently fed on strong passions. A haunt run by the Spooks, specifically by the wraith known as the Merry Widow. Here, the dead can purchase carnal pleasures — not of the flesh, which they lack, but of the Pathos. Trained courtesans can weave Illusion and Embody arts to give wraiths temporary sensations of their lost lives. It is a place of desperate nostalgia, addiction, and the occasional rogue Spectre drawn by the concentrated longing. The Warriors of Lethe consider it a necessary evil for maintaining morale among the lost; Marcus Stavaston has never set foot inside.
- #17Warriors of Letheselective
Keys: Warriors of Lethe
The Warriors of Lethe are wraiths who have volunteered for military service in the hope of finding peace - and Oblivion - in combat. Membership is not confined to the Silent Legion, but perhaps 90% of the Warriors come from the ranks of the Quiet. As has been noted elsewhere, the Warriors of Lethe are bound together by their overwhelming desire to forget, whether out of pain, fear or embarrassment, their mortal existences. Their ranks also include many who wish for others to forget them and so hide behind the featureless midnight blue masks of the Warriors. The Quiet Lord uses the Warriors as a sort of fire-and-forget guided missile, giving the Anacreon of the Warriors a target and standing back to watch the results from a safe distance. As might be expected, most Warriors accomplish one grand feat of devastation, but few are noted for repeat performances.
- #18Scheepvaarthuisselective
Keys: Scheepvaarthuis
A penthouse suite and the boardroom of Concordaat Beheer BV, a boutique investment firm in the iconic Scheepvaarthuis (Shipping House) on Prins Hendrikkade. The Chain Chamber exists in a pocket of reality carved from the Abyss. It is a circular room ringed with seven pillars, each a column of fused, molten chains — the physical manifestation of the pacts the Concordat has brokered.
- #19Triumvirateselective
Keys: Triumvirate
The Fallen of Amsterdam are ruled by three Fallen, each a master of a particular domain of vice: Commerce and Ambition, Art and Desire, and Ecstasy and Altered States. They are not rivals; their alliance is built on the Faustian axiom that the best temptations complement one another.
- #20Cenaculumselective
Keys: Cenaculum
A gabled 17th-century merchant’s mansion on the Keizersgracht, still owned by the van der Heijden family trust. The Amsterdam Cenaculum is the informational heart of the Society of Leopold north of the Alps. Founded during the Dutch Golden Age with the spoils of colonial trade, it has accumulated four centuries of uninterrupted monster-hunting intelligence: dossiers on every known Cainite bloodline active in Scandinavia, the Baltic, and the Low Countries; correspondence with a dozen Vatican-sanctioned occultists; a vault of cursed relics too dangerous to destroy; and a communications crypt that monitors supernatural incidents from Reykjavík to Helsinki. Its coffers remain swollen from centuries of compound interest on East India Company shares, laundered through a web of charitable trusts. The Cenacle can fund a mission for years without touching the principal.
- #21Royal Theater Carre, elysiumselective
Keys: elysium, Royal Theater Carre
Location: Amstel 115-125, on the banks of the Amstel River. The Camarilla’s official Elysium is one of Amsterdam’s most beautiful and enduring cultural institutions. Built in 1887, this circus-theater was modelled on the grand opera houses of Vienna and Paris. Its red velvet, gold leaf, and crystal chandeliers provide the perfect backdrop for Kindred politics.
- #22Tremere Chantryselective
Keys: Tremere Chantry
Location: Oudezijds Voorburgwal 231, within the University of Amsterdam’s museum quarter. The chantry is a small Gothic chapel built in 1470, once the heart of the city’s medieval intellectual life. Lille Haake claimed it in 1989 and has since transformed it into one of the most heavily warded places in the Netherlands. The ground floor remains a museum open to the public during the day; at night, the chapel’s true nature emerges. The basement laboratories are connected to the university’s tunnel network, allowing Haake’s apprentices to move unseen. The third sub-level houses the Necromantic Sanctum, a circular room lined with mirrors that reflect the Shadowlands.
- #23Hotel de l’Europeselective
Keys: Hotel de l’Europe
Location: Nieuwe Doelenstraat 2-14, on the Amstel. The Beryn family operates from this iconic grand hotel, which they acquired through a shell company in 2005. The mortal hotel business is legitimate and highly profitable. The penthouse suites, unavailable to mortal guests, house the family’s elders. The real heart of Beryn power lies in the Necropolis Vault, a sub-basement that extends into the Shadowlands itself. A permanent Shroud-weakness, carefully maintained, allows wraiths to cross into a sealed containment chamber where the Beryn trade souls, memories, and Pathos with the Spooks Guild.
- #24Nosferatu Warrenselective
Keys: Nosferatu Warren
Location: The tunnels beneath Dam Square, connecting the Royal Palace, the Nieuwe Kerk, and the Beurs van Berlage. The Nosferatu of Amsterdam have the most respected intelligence network in the Low Countries. Their warren is a maze of medieval crypts, smuggler passages, and modern utility tunnels, all centred on a drowned 13th-century cellar they call De Spiegel because its still, black water reflects the faces of those who have nothing to hide — which means it reflects almost no one.
