- #1The Realms
Keys: realm, world
THE REALMS
Reghardia
The mortal realm. Five continents bound by leylines and ancient pacts, where all races struggle to coexist beneath a shared sky.
Umbrolenoa
The demon realm. A dimension of chaos, shadow, and consuming flame. No maps exist—the realm reshapes itself by the will of its inhabitants. Skies burn with crimson lightning; rivers flow with molten despair. Here, demons are born from suffering, ambition, and the nightmares of mortals.
The Separation
For eons, the Veil divided these realms—an impenetrable barrier woven by the old gods before their vanishing. Demons could only whisper through in dreams, tempting mortals but never touching flesh.
- #2Reghardia
Keys: reghardia
Reghardia
A fantasy world defined by five great continents—Galatea, Lunophaea, Mistveilwoods, Ashenmarsh, and Draconoir—separated by the Sundering Sea, a vast ocean dotted with island nations and trade routes.
- #3Umbrolenoa
Keys: umbrolenoa
- #4Deities
Keys: deity, goddesses, pantheon, god, religion, goddess, deities, gods
Some of deities of Reghardia:
The Lighted ones:
- Ilvaris, the Compassionate Mother Goddess of Mercy, Healing, and Kindness
- Halvaax, the Sky Sovereign Lord of the Firmament, Patron of Dragonkin
- Volux, the Undying Ember Lord of Flame, Guardian of Cycles, the Eternal Phoenix
- Tigrelox, the Striking Fang Lord of War, the Unbroken Will, the Battle-Tiger
- Tortovemux, the Ancient Shell Protector of Wisdom, the Patient One, the Memory-Keeper
The Shadowed Ones:
- Zalthorath, the Sundering Maw Demon Lord of Annihilation, the Unmaker, Harbinger of Ruin
- #5The Divine Order
Keys: the shadow ones, divine order, the lighted ones
THE DIVINE ORDER
The gods do not war openly—ancient compacts bind them. Ilvaris cannot strike Zalthorath directly, for to enter Umbrolenoa would be to feed his power. Halvaax watches from above, waiting for the demon lord to take wing. Volux burns eternal, indifferent to mortal pleas for intervention. Tigrelox waits for the war to come, knowing his followers will need him. Tortovemux remembers—perhaps he alone knows how the last age ended, and what must be done when gods fail.
The Thinning continues. The Veil frays. And somewhere in the darkness between realms, Zalthorath dreams of dawn breaking over Reghardia—his dawn, eternal and consuming.
- #6Ilvaris
Keys: Ilvaris, god, goddess
Ilvaris, the Compassionate Mother
Goddess of Mercy, Healing, and Kindness
The most widely worshipped deity in Reghardia. Temples to Ilvaris exist in every city, every village, every remote outpost where mortals draw breath. She asks no elaborate rituals—only that the hungry be fed, the sick be tended, and the lost be guided home.
Her symbol is a cupped hand holding a gentle flame. Priests of Ilvaris serve as healers, mediators, and protectors of refugees. During the Thinning, her followers have become the first responders to rift incidents, pulling survivors from demon-touched lands while others flee.
"When the world grows cold, be the warmth." — Temple saying
- #7Halvaax
Keys: sky sovereign, white dragon, halvaax
Halvaax, the Sky Sovereign
Lord of the Firmament, Patron of Dragonkin
An ancient white dragon ascended to godhood, or so the dragonkin believe. Halvaax rules the endless sky—the clouds, the winds, the storms, and the space between stars. His immense form is said to circle Draconoir eternally, scales gleaming like frozen sunlight.
Dragonborn pray to him for safe flight. Sailors beg his mercy when storms rise. Those who seek freedom—from chains, from fate, from gravity itself—whisper his name.
His symbol is a white dragon coiled around a full moon. The floating continent of Draconoir is considered his living throne.
"The sky has no chains. Neither shall you." — Draconic blessing
- #8Volux
Keys: eternal phoenix, guardian of cycles, volux
Volux, the Undying Ember
Lord of Flame, Guardian of Cycles, the Eternal Phoenix
Volux is both god and cosmic force—a phoenix who burned before the first mortal drew breath, who will burn after the last star fades. Every thousand years, he consumes himself in glorious fire and rises renewed from ashes.
He represents death and rebirth, endings and beginnings. Farmers burn fields and pray to Volux for renewed soil. Mourners commit bodies to flame, trusting the Undying One to guide souls toward their next cycle.
His followers include pyromancers, funeral priests, and those who have survived great loss. His symbol is a phoenix rising from embers.
"All ends are also beginnings. Burn well." — Funeral rite
- #9Tigrelox
Keys: the battle tiger, lord of war, tigrelox
Tigrelox, the Striking Fang
Lord of War, the Unbroken Will, the Battle-Tiger
A massive tiger-warrior god, muscles coiled, blade ready, eyes blazing with unquenchable spirit. Tigrelox does not love war—he loves the will to fight, the refusal to submit, the fire that rises in a warrior's chest when all seems lost.
Gladiators dedicate their victories to him. Soldiers pray before battle. The oppressed call his name when they rise against tyrants. Orc chieftains of Ashenmarsh seek his blessing before raids. Even some demons, in their endless wars across Umbrolenoa, have been known to invoke his name.
His symbol is a tiger's claw marked with a single red stripe. Temples are rare—his true shrines are battlefields, arenas, and the hearts of those who refuse to break.
"Stand. Fight. Win. Or die standing. Anything less is unworthy." — Warrior's oath
- #10Tortovemux
Keys: tortovemux, protector of wisdom, giant tortoise
Tortovemux, the Ancient Shell
Protector of Wisdom, the Patient One, the Memory-Keeper
A giant tortoise who carries mountains on his back and stars in his eyes. Tortovemux moves slowly across the cosmos, observing, remembering, protecting knowledge from the ravages of time.
Elves revere him above all others. Their great libraries contain sections dedicated to his worship—rooms where scribes copy texts in perfect silence, preserving wisdom against any future darkness. Tortovemux teaches that haste is the enemy of understanding, that patience reveals truth.
His symbol is a tortoise shell inscribed with runes. His followers are scholars, archivists, loremasters, and anyone who believes knowledge must outlast empires.
"The rushing river erodes mountains. The patient tortoise outlives rivers." — Elven proverb
- #11Zalthorath
Keys: harbinger of ruin, zalthorath, demon lord
Zalthorath, the Sundering Maw
Demon Lord of Annihilation, the Unmaker, Harbinger of Ruin
No mortal knows Zalthorath's true form—some say it is a shifting mass of teeth and eyes, others whisper it is an emptiness wearing a shape. What is known: he is the oldest and most powerful of demon lords, dreaming at the heart of Umbrolenoa, patient as a mountain, hungry as flame.
Ancient prophecies name him the one who will devour the Veil, who will feast on the boundary between realms, who will spill Umbrolenoa into Reghardia like poison into a well.
Is the Thinning his doing? Some priests of Ilvaris believe so. They say Zalthorath has waited eons, slowly gnawing at reality, and now his teeth finally break through. Dragonkin scholars of Draconoir dispute this, claiming the floating continent's magic merely disrupts leylines—but even they cannot explain why demonic whispers grow louder each year.
Cults have risen in his name. Desperate mortals, terrified of the Thinning, offer prayers to the Sundering Maw, hoping to appease what cannot be stopped. They are always consumed, in the end.
His symbol is a jagged tear—a wound in reality itself. No temples exist, only secret circles meeting in shadow, and rifts where his essence bleeds through.
"All walls fall. All gates open. All things end in me." — Fragment from forbidden texts
- #12Galatea
Keys: human homeland, Luminara, Cinderfall Bastion, Verdant Haven, High King Theron, House Corvin, House Greendale, Aildrite, Great Foundries, House Valthorn, House Luminar, Sapphire Port, Grain Exchange, Galatea, Galehaven, Kingdom of Galathea, Spire of First Mysteries, House Ashford
Overview
Sun-kissed plains, rolling hills, and mighty rivers define Galatea—the most politically fractured continent, yet the most prosperous. Humans built their kingdoms here on ambition, trade, and the fire of short but passionate lives. While other races measure time in centuries, Galateans measure in achievements, and their cities reflect this urgency.
Political Structure
The Kingdom of Galathea rules under High King Theron Velthorne, seated in Aildrite. Below him, noble houses govern provinces, their loyalties shifting like wind. The crown's power depends on balancing these factions—a dance of marriage alliances, trade concessions, and the occasional quiet assassination.
Noble Houses
- House of Velthrone - The ruling house, silver wolf sigil. Known for diplomatic cunning.
- House of Sprigfield - Patrons of the arcane, starburst sigil. Produce the realm's mages.
- House of Corvin - Wardens of the eastern marches, raven sigil. Wealthy from silver mines.
- House Ashford – Masters of Cinderfall, hammer sigil. Industrial barons with peasant loyalty.
- House Greendale – Stewards of Verdant Haven, wheat sheaf sigil. Feed the kingdom.
Current Tensions
- The Rift Problem: Small rifts appear across Galatea. The crown struggles to respond everywhere at once.
- Noble Squabbles: House Corvin demands higher military budget. House Greendale refuses to fund "useless posturing." The king mediates.
- Refugees: From other continents fleeing demon activity. Galatea takes them in—Ilvaris commands it—but resources strain.
- Luminara's Warning: The Arcane Conclave insists the leylines worsen. The king listens. Others call it mage alarmism.

- #15Aildrite
Keys: aidlrite
Aildrite – The Crown of Galatea (Central)
Capital City
The beating heart of the kingdom. Aildrite sprawls across the confluence of three rivers, its white stone walls visible for miles. The Royal Palace sits upon the central hill, its towers piercing clouds. Below, the city breathes—markets selling goods from all five continents, temples to Ilvaris on every corner, forums where politics is debated with passion.
The Silver Quarter houses nobility. The Copper Warrens hold common folk. The Gilded Spire hosts foreign dignitaries and merchants rich enough to buy titles.
"All roads lead to Aildrite. All ambitions die here, or achieve immortality." – City saying
- #16Luminara
Keys: luminara
Luminara – The Illumined City (Eastern Highlands)
City of Arcane Study
Built upon a plateau where leylines converge, Luminara glows at night—not from torchlight, but from the magical wards woven into every stone. The Spire of First Mysteries dominates the skyline, Reghardia's premier academy for arcane study.
Students come from all races—elf scholars seeking human magical innovation, dragonkin researching leylines, even the occasional orc shaman trading primal magic for structured theory. The city operates on its own laws, answering directly to the crown but policing itself through the Arcane Conclave.
Recent concern: the thinning Veil has made Luminara's leylines unstable. Spells misfire. The Conclave works day and night to understand why.
"Here, magic is not feared. It is perfected." – Academy motto
- #17Galehaven
Keys: galehaven
Galehaven – The Sapphire Port (Western Coast)
Trade Capital
Where the Sundering Sea kisses Galatea's shore, Galehaven rises in tiers from the waterfront. Ships from all continents crowd its harbor—elven swan-ships from Lunophaea, beastfolk caravels from Mistveilwoods, orcish ironclads from Ashenmarsh, even the rare floating vessels from Draconoir, anchored by sky-chains.
The Mermaid's Market never sleeps. Goods change hands at all hours: spices from Kheltara, furs from Iskandar, enchanted items from Luminara, ores from Cinderfall. The city's Harbormaster's Guild holds power second only to the crown-appointed governor.
Galehaven's sailors tell tales of rifts opening at sea—demons rising from waves, ships vanishing into thin air. The Thinning affects even water.
"If it exists, it passes through Galehaven. Eventually." – Dockworker saying
- #18Cinderfall Bastion
Keys: cinderfall
Cinderfall Bastion – The Iron Heart (Northwestern Mountains)
Industrial Capital
Smoke stains the sky. Hammers ring day and night. Cinderfall Bastion is not beautiful—it is necessary. Built into mountain foothills rich with iron and coal, the city forges weapons, armor, tools, and machines for all Galatea.
The Great Foundries belch flame day and night, overseen by House Ashford. Workers toil in shifts, their muscles hardened by labor, their loyalty fierce to anyone who pays fairly. Recent demand for weapons has tripled—nobles arm themselves against demon incursions, and the crown stockpiles for unknown wars.
Cinderfall's Bastion Guard are veterans, scarred and reliable. They patrol walls reinforced against threats from within and without.
"Cinderfall built the sword that defends you. Remember that when you sleep safe." – Foundry slogan
- #19Verdant Haven
Keys: verdant haven
Verdant Haven – The Granary (Southern Plains)
Agricultural Heartland
Endless fields of wheat, corn, and barley stretch around Verdant Haven. Irrigation channels fed by mountain snowmelt create the most fertile soil in Galatea. If Cinderfall feeds war, Verdant Haven feeds life.
The city itself is smaller—trading posts, granaries, mills, and the Grain Exchange where prices for the entire kingdom are set. House Greendale rules here, beloved by peasants for fair treatment and hated by northern nobles for controlling food prices.
During the thinning season, farmers whisper of blights that spread too fast, of crops wilting overnight, of strange shapes moving through fields at dusk. The land provides—but something poisons it, slowly.
"A full belly forgives many sins." – Harvest festival toast
- #20Galatea Relations
Galatea relationship with other continents:
-
Lunophaea: Respectful Distance. Galatea views elves as ancient, wise, and frustratingly aloof. Trade occurs through Moonshadow and Galehaven—elven enchanted goods for Galatean grain and textiles. Magic academies exchange students, though elves find human haste exhausting. The Thinning pushes closer cooperation; elf seers warn, human armies listen.
-
Mistveilwoods: Limited Contact. Beastfolk distrust human expansion; humans find beastfolk customs strange. Trade minimal—furs and herbs for metal tools. Galatean loggers occasionally clash with Staghorn forest-tenders. Recent demon incursions force rare alliances; refugees from Mistveilwoods find shelter in Galatean border towns, to mutual discomfort.
-
Ashenmarsh: Necessary Alliance. Orcs make Galatea uncomfortable—too brutal, too direct. But Ashenmarsh steel arms Galatean armies, and orc warriors kill demons humans cannot. Trade thrives: grain and magic for weapons and alchemy. Warbringer Urzag respects human fighting spirit; High King Theron funds orc campaigns. Neither trusts the other. Both need the other.
-
Draconoir: Awe and Frustration. Dragonkin float above, untouchable, unhelpful. Galatea trades with Goldmoon Flight through Galehaven—dragon-forged items for astronomical prices. Humans beg for sky-metal weapons, air support against winged demons. Draconoir offers sympathy, not soldiers. The floating continent's shadow falls on Ashenmarsh, not Galatea, so dragonkin feel distant from human suffering. Resentment grows.
-
Umbrolenoa: Total War. No diplomacy. No negotiation. Demons slip through rifts; Galatea kills them. Rift incursions increase yearly; border villages vanish; refugees flood cities. The crown spends gold on weapons faster than mines produce ore. Ilvaran temples overflow with wounded, corrupted, grieving. Galatea did not choose this war. The war chose Galatea.

- #21Lunophaea
Keys: House Thornheart, Seers' Circle, blue moon prophecy, Well of First Voices, Starweavers, Sylvanor, Moonshadow, Observatory Eternal, Three Sisters moons, Thornwatch, High Elves, Hall of Echoes, elven homeland, Concordance, House Oakenshield, House Starweave, lunophaea, Evermist Hollow, Wood Elves, House Glimmerfall, Moon Elves, Crescent Bazaar, Aelori, Lady Seraphine, House Dawnweaver
Overview
Moonlight never truly fades from Lunophaea. Silvered glades, crystalline rivers, and forests so ancient they remember the gods' first footsteps define this continent. Time flows strangely here—visitors may spend a week and find a year has passed in Galatea. The elves do not correct this; they consider haste a mortal flaw.
Lunophaea floats in perpetual twilight, illuminated by the Three Sisters—moons of silver, blue, and violet that wheel slowly across the eternal dusk sky.
Political Structure
Lunophaea is not a kingdom but a Concordance—a council of elder houses who rule through consensus rather than conquest. The High Seat rotates every century among the three great elven subraces: High Elves, Wood Elves, and Moon Elves. Currently, the High Seat belongs to Lady Seraphine Dawnweaver of the High Elves, seated in Sylvanor.
Elder Houses:
- House Dawnweaver – High Elves, sunrise sigil. Archivists of ancient magic, politically dominant.
- House Oakenshield – Wood Elves, great oak sigil. Guardians of the living forests, suspicious of outsiders.
- House Glimmerfall – Moon Elves, crescent sigil. Mystics who read fate in lunar cycles, advisors and prophets.
- House Starweave – High Elves, constellation sigil. Master enchanters who craft Lunophaea's legendary magic items.
- House Thornheart – Wood Elves, flowering thorn sigil. Rangers who patrol the borders and hunt demon incursions.
Current Tensions
- The Thinning's Acceleration: Aelori's mages report the Veil deteriorating faster than predicted. Some whisper Evermist Hollow's silence is connected.
- Isolation vs. Intervention: House Oakenshield wants to close borders, let mortals solve their own problems. House Dawnweaver argues that demons care nothing for elven isolation.
- The Unreturned: Elves who venture into growing rifts sometimes emerge—but wrong. Changed. Speaking in tongues. The Concordance quarantines them in Thornwatch, studying what transformation awaits.
- Human Entanglements: Trade with Galatea increases as both sides need allies. Some elves resent the haste and noise of human emissaries.
- The Prophecy: Moonshadow's seers grow increasingly agitated. The blue moon is bleeding—a faint crimson tinge visible only to elf eyes. Countdown begins.
- #22Five Great Cities - Lunophaea
Keys: lunophaea · Secondary: great cities, great city
Five great cities of Lunophaea:
- Sylvanor – The Eternal Glade (Central) Capital City
- Aelori – The Spire of Stars (Eastern Highlands) City of High Magic
- Thornwatch – The Silent Vigil (Western Border with Mistveilwoods) City of Rangers
- Moonshadow – The Veiled Port (Southern Coast) City of Mystics and Trade
- Evermist Hollow – The Forgotten Glade (Northern Forests) City of Ancient Memory
- #23Sylvanor
Keys: sylvanor
Sylvanor – The Eternal Glade (Central)
Capital City
No walls surround Sylvanor—none are needed. The city is the forest, and the forest is the city. Living trees shaped over millennia form towers, bridges, and halls. Glowing moss and hovering faelights illuminate winding paths. The Council Glade hosts the Concordance beneath a canopy open to the moons.
Sylvanor's heart is the Well of First Voices, a spring where elves believe their race first awoke. Pilgrims come to drink and receive visions—though recently, the visions speak of shadow and thinning veils.
"In Sylvanor, even the stones remember your ancestors. Walk gently." – Elven saying
- #24Aelori
Keys: aelori
Aelori – The Spire of Stars (Eastern Highlands)
City of High Magic
Built upon a mountain peak where the veil between worlds grows thin—too thin, some whisper. Aelori's crystalline spires catch moonlight and refract it into rainbows visible for miles. Here, the Starweavers practice magic unknown in other lands: fate-weaving, memory-forging, and the art of binding moonlight into physical form.
The Observatory Eternal tracks not just stars but the movements of the leylines, the drift of Draconoir, and the pulsing wound of Umbrolenoa's influence. Aelori's mages first detected the Thinning, centuries before humans believed.
"We watch. We wait. We remember what others forget." – Starweaver motto
- #25Thornwatch
Keys: thornwatch
#Thornwatch – The Silent Vigil (Western Border with Mistveilwoods) City of Rangers
Where Lunophaea meets Mistveilwoods, Thornwatch stands—not as a wall, but as a meeting place. Wood elves and beastfolk trade here, exchange news, and occasionally settle disputes. The city is built into enormous trees along the border, connected by rope bridges and hidden paths known only to rangers.
House Thornheart rules here, their rangers the finest trackers in Reghardia. They hunt demonspawn that slip through rifts, track poachers who dare steal from elven lands, and maintain the ancient pacts between elf and beastfolk.
Recently, Thornwatch has become a refugee waypoint—beastfolk fleeing deeper into Mistveilwoods as rifts multiply, carrying strange tales of twisted forests and corrupted spirits.
"The forest speaks. We only listen." – Thornheart ranger creed
- #26Moonshadow
Keys: moonshadow
Moonshadow – The Veiled Port (Southern Coast)
City of Mystics and Trade
Lunophaea's only major port, Moonshadow hugs the southern cliffs where the Sundering Sea meets elven shores. Unlike Galehaven's chaos, Moonshadow operates with serene efficiency. Ships arrive on schedules known only to elven navigators, guided by lunar tides and magical beacons.
The city is famed for its Crescent Bazaar, where elves trade enchanted goods for foreign luxuries—though elves rarely need anything mortals make. More importantly, Moonshadow hosts the Seers' Circle, a conclave of Moon Elf prophets who read the Thinning's progress in lunar patterns.
Their latest prophecy: "When the blue moon bleeds, the Maw will feed." No one knows what it means. Everyone fears it.
"Trade with us, but do not stay. Your time is not our time." – Moonshadow harbormaster
- #27Evermist Hollow
Keys: evermist hollow
Evermist Hollow – The Forgotten Glade (Northern Forests)
City of Ancient Memory
Hidden deep in the oldest forests, Evermist Hollow is barely a city—more a gathering of elders who have lived so long they have forgotten their own births. Here, elves come to die, or to remember, or to be forgotten. The Hall of Echoes contains memories stored in crystal, accessible only to those the elders deem worthy.
Visitors are rare. Most who enter Evermist Hollow emerge changed—or not at all. The city exists outside normal time entirely; some say it touches the realm where gods once walked.
When the Thinning began, Evermist Hollow fell silent. No messages emerge. No elders respond. The other houses fear to investigate.
"Some doors should remain closed. Even for elves." – Last message from Evermist Hollow
- #28Lunophaean Provinces
Keys: province · Secondary: lunophaea

- #29Lunophaea Relations
Keys: lunophaea relations
Lunophaea relationship with other continents:
-
Galatea: Benevolent Patronage. Elves view humans as brilliant children—passionate, creative, and tragically short-lived. Lunophaea trades enchanted goods for Galatean grain, textiles, and raw materials through Moonshadow's Crescent Bazaar. Elven mages teach at Luminara's academy; human scholars study at Aelori's Observatory Eternal. The Thinning forces deeper cooperation—elf seers warn human kings, and elf rangers occasionally guide human armies. Still, elves find human haste exhausting and human politics bewildering.
-
Mistveilwoods: Ancient Neighbors. The border between Lunophaea and Mistveilwoods has shifted over millennia, but never through war. Wood elves and beastfolk share respect for living forests, and Thornwatch serves as meeting place for both peoples. Clan Staghorn and House Oakenshield exchange knowledge of forest-tending. Clan Featherfall and House Glimmerfall share lunar calendars and migration patterns. The Thinning brings closer cooperation—rifts respect no borders, and corrupted creatures hunt both lands.
-
Ashenmarsh: Wary Respect. Elves find orcs crude, violent, and obsessed with mortality. Orcs find elves fragile, indirect, and obsessed with past glories. Yet Lunophaea respects Ashenmarsh steel and orc warriors' effectiveness against demons. Limited trade exists—elven crystals for orc metals, alchemical components from Smoking Bogs for Aelori's laboratories. The Concordance quietly funds orc campaigns through intermediaries; orcs accept aid without gratitude. Both know the rifts in Ashenmarsh, if uncontained, will flood Lunophaea next.
-
Draconoir: Frosty Courtesy. Ancient alliances bind elf and dragonkin—Tortovemux and Halvaax recognized each other's domains when gods still walked. Today, relations remain polite but distant. Frostmourn scholars visit Aelori for magical exchange; Goldmoon merchants trade in Moonshadow. But dragonkin isolation frustrates elves, who remember when Draconoir sent aid. High Scion Valtharion's refusal to intervene in the Thinning angers Lady Seraphine, who remembers older debts. Diplomatic messages grow shorter. Tensions rise.
-
Umbrolenoa: Ancient Memory. Elves remember what humans have forgotten—the last time the Veil thinned, before the old gods intervened. Lunophaea knows Zalthorath's name from elder texts, knows his hunger, knows he waits. Elven seers dream of the Sundering Maw; elven rangers hunt demon spawn before they reach mortal lands. The Concordance mobilizes quietly—rangers patrol borders, mages reinforce wards, archivists search ancient texts for weakness. Elves do not panic. Elves prepare. They have waited before.

- #30Mistveilwoods
Keys: Elder Thornhoof, The Aerie, Clan Staghorn, winged kin, Blood Moon, Alpha Greymane, Glimmering Perch, Great Clans, mammoth-kin, Clan Shadowpaw, wolf-kin, Veilwood, cat-folk, Howling Council, stag-folk, Sky-Speaker Caw-with-Wind, Matriarch Whispers-in-Shadow, Sunken Grove, Clan Fenrir, Clan Ironhide, Warden Grumblebelly, Clan Featherfall, Mistveilwoods, beastfolk homeland, bear-folk, Antler Circle, Stoneheart Den, The Howling Grounds
Overview
Endless forests shrouded in perpetual mist. Here, the trees whisper, the shadows move with purpose, and the boundary between animal and sentient blurs. Mistveilwoods is not a land mortals conquer—it is a land that accepts or rejects, and it has rejected armies.
The mist is not weather but essence—woven from the breath of spirits, the exhalation of ancient beasts, the dreams of those who walk on claw and paw. Outsiders lose their way. Beastfolk find home.
The Land Itself
The forest breathes. Paths shift. Rivers run upstream during certain moons. Those born here navigate by scent, by instinct, by voices only they hear. Settlements exist, but Mistveilwoods resents permanence—cities are living things, grown rather than built.
Three layers define the continent:
- The Forest Floor – Damp, rich, teeming. Where the great beasts roam.
- The Canopy – Woven bridges, hanging dens, cities of branch and leaf.
- The Veilwood – Deepest mist, where spirits dwell and even beastfolk tread carefully.
Political Structure
No kings rule Mistveilwoods. No councils decree. Instead, the Great Clans govern through strength, wisdom, and the respect of their kind. Each clan claims territory, but borders shift with seasons and need. Disputes are settled by ritual combat, mediation by elder shamans, or simply allowing the forest to choose.
The closest thing to unity is the Howling Council—a gathering of clan leaders during the rare Blood Moon, when mist thins and spirits speak. Decisions made there bind all clans until the next Blood Moon.
Recent Development
- The Sky-Rifts: Featherfall reports tears opening above the canopy. Winged demons descend. The Aerie now maintains constant patrol.
- The Twisted: Beastfolk who venture too close to rifts return changed—eyes glowing, speech garbled, instincts warped. Ironhide quarantines them in deep caves, studying how corruption spreads.
- Clan Tensions: Wolf-kin demand aggressive response to demon incursions. Staghorn urges patience, counsel, waiting for signs. The Howling Council grows strained.
- The Spirit's Warning: Shamans across clans report the same vision—a great wolf devouring moons, a forest burning, something ancient waking beneath the roots.
- Outsider Refugees: Beastfolk from smaller clans, their territories consumed by rifts or twisted forests, flee to Great Clan protection. Resources strain.

- #32Clan Fenrir
Keys: clan fenrir
Clan Fenrir – The Wolf-Kin (Northern Forests)
Predators, Hunters, Pack Leaders
Largest and most territorial of the clans. Wolf-kin value loyalty above all—to pack, to clan, to the hunt. They roam the northern reaches where prey is scarce and only the strong survive. Their howls carry messages across miles, warning of demon rifts, guiding lost packmates home.
Alpha Greymane leads with fang and wisdom. His pack accepts outsiders who prove worthy—rare, but not unheard of.
"The pack is fang. The pack is fur. The pack is all." – Wolf-kin saying
- #33Clan Shadowpaw
Keys: clan shadowpaw
Clan Shadowpaw – The Cat-Folk (Central Canopy)
Stalkers, Solo Hunters, Mist-Walkers
Where wolves hunt in packs, cat-folk hunt alone. Shadowpaw territory spans the central canopy—branch cities, hanging sanctuaries, perches overlooking mist. They are the clan other clans come to for scouting, for stealth, for news carried on silent feet.
Matriarch Whispers-in-Shadow rules from the Glimmering Perch, a city of woven branches and captured moonlight. Cat-folk are proud, independent, and notoriously difficult to ally with—but once bonded, their loyalty is absolute.
"The mist hides all. The mist reveals all. I am the mist." – Shadowpaw hunter's creed
- #34Clan Staghorn
Keys: clan staghorn
Clan Staghorn – The Hoofed Kin (Southern Glades)
Herders, Peacekeepers, Forest-Tenders
Gentle giants and swift runners, the stag-folk, elk-kin, and cervitaurs of Clan Staghorn tend the living forest. They plant new groves, guide migrating herds, and mediate disputes between predator clans. Their Antler Circles serve as neutral ground where even wolves and cats speak peace.
Elder Thornhoof has seen three centuries, his antlers bearing rings for each Great Calm—periods when Mistveilwoods knew no war. He fears the Thinning will break the longest peace yet.
"The forest provides. We provide for the forest. This is the way." – Staghorn caretaker
- #35Clan Ironhide
Keys: clan ironhide
Clan Ironhide – The Ursine & Tusked (Eastern Highlands)
Guardians, Survivors, Mountain-Walkers
Bear-folk, boar-kin, and the massive mammoth-kin who remember when ice covered Reghardia. Ironhide territory climbs the eastern highlands where trees thin and stone breaks through. They are slow to anger, impossible to move when roused.
Warden Grumblebelly (a name only non-bears use) leads the defense against anything threatening Mistveilwoods—including, recently, the demon rifts tearing open in their mountains. Ironhide casualties mount, but they do not retreat.
"Stone does not fear. Stone endures. We are stone." – Ironhide warden
- #36Clan Featherfall
Keys: clan featherfall
Clan Featherfall – The Winged Kin (Western Cliffs)
Scouts, Messengers, Sky-Watchers
Hawk-folk, owl-kin, raven-talkers—Featherfall claims the western cliffs where mist thins and sky opens. They see farthest, report fastest, and remember everything. Their Aerie Council gathers news from across Reghardia, carried on wings.
Sky-Speaker Caw-with-Wind coordinates the clan's far-flung members. Recently, Featherfall scouts have reported rifts opening above the forest—tears in the sky itself, through which winged demons descend.
"Eyes in the sky. Words on the wind. Warning in the blood." – Featherfall motto

The Sunken Grove (Deep Veilwood)
Mysterious Location
A place where the forest floor dips into mist-filled depression, and spirits gather thick as fog. Beastfolk go to Sunken Grove seeking visions, communing with ancestors, or simply to prove courage. Many enter. Fewer return. Those who do speak of whispers and shapes and the feeling of being watched by something older than gods.
- #38The Howling Grounds

The Howling Grounds (Central)
Gathering Place
A vast clearing where mist withdraws and moons shine full. Only here does the Blood Moon fully illuminate. The Howling Grounds host the council, great hunts, and rituals older than elf memory. Permanent structures are forbidden—the ground is sacred.
- #39The Glimmering Perch
Keys: the glimmering perch
The Glimmering Perch (Central Canopy) Shadowpaw Capital
A city of woven branches, hanging bridges, and dens tucked into ancient trunks. By night, captured faelights and glow-moss illuminate the Perch, creating a constellation in the trees. Outsiders rarely see it; those who do rarely forget.
- #40The Antler Circle

The Antler Circle (Southern Glades)
Neutral Ground
A grove of ancient oaks carved with spiraling patterns. Here, Staghorn elders mediate disputes, bless unions, and tend wounded spirits. No violence is permitted within the Circle—enforcement comes from the forest itself, which has been known to swallow aggressors whole.
- #41The Stoneheart Den

The Stoneheart Den (Eastern Highlands)
Ironhide Stronghold
A network of caves beneath the mountains, warm with geothermal springs and thick with the scent of fur and smoke. Ironhide families den here during harsh winters. The deepest caves hold carvings from the Ice Age, when mammoth-kin ruled and other races cowered.
- #42The Aerie
Keys: the aerie
The Aerie (Western Cliffs)
Featherfall Council Ground
Precarious perches on wind-scoured cliffs, accessible only by flight. Featherfall gathers here during equinoxes to share news, assign mates, and honor those lost to storm or claw. Below, the Sundering Sea crashes against rocks where failed flyers meet their end.
- #43Mistveilwoods Relations
Keys: mistveilwood relations
Mistveilwoods relationship with other continents:
-
Galatea: Cautious Distrust. Beastfolk remember when human loggers pushed into Mistveilwoods borders, when hunters took more than they needed. Trust heals slowly. Today, trade exists but remains minimal—furs, herbs, and bone-carvings for metal tools and grain. Galatean caravans must hire beastfolk guides; those who don't vanish into mist. The Thinning forces change—refugees from both sides huddle together in border towns, and Clan Fenrir scouts now warn human villages of approaching rifts. Old wounds remain. Survival demands cooperation anyway.
-
Lunophaea: Ancient Kin. The misty border between Mistveilwoods and Lunophaea has never known war. Wood elves and beastfolk share bloodlines in places—half-elf beastfolk exist, accepted by both cultures. Thornwatch serves as permanent meeting ground, where House Thornheart rangers and Clan Staghorn elders exchange news, trade goods, and share lunar calendars for migration. Clan Featherfall and House Glimmerfall track stars together. The Thinning strengthens these bonds—rifts corrupt both lands, and ancient pacts of mutual defense activate for first time in millennia.
-
Ashenmarsh: Distant Respect. Beastfolk find orcs too loud, too direct, too fond of fire. Orcs find beastfolk too subtle, too connected to spirits they cannot see. Yet both are hunter peoples, both understand survival's cost. Trade minimal—beastfolk herbs for orc metals, passed through intermediaries. The Smoking Bogs and Mistveilwoods share strange ecologies; Dreadmaw poison-masters and Staghorn herbalists exchange knowledge cautiously. During Warbringer Urzag's campaigns, beastfolk scouts have guided orc war parties through mist—and accepted payment without gratitude. Neither trusts. Both respect.
-
Draconoir: Sky-Watchers. Dragonkin float above, beyond mist, beyond reach. Beastfolk watch them pass—shadows moving across clouds, wyvern-riders on patrol. Clan Featherfall maintains observation: Draconoir's drift patterns, its occasional sky-metal falls, its winged patrols that sometimes descend to hunt demons. No formal relations exist. Dragonkin consider beastfolk primitive; beastfolk consider dragonkin arrogant. Yet when rifts opened above the canopy, Stormwing wyverns and Featherfall scouts fought together without negotiation. Some bonds form in battle.
-
Umbrolenoa: Corruption of the Spirit. Demons threaten Mistveilwoods differently—they corrupt the land itself. Trees twist. Waters poison. Spirits fall silent or scream. Beastfolk fight not just for survival but for the soul of their home. Clan Ironhide bears heaviest burden, guarding the eastern rifts where demon hordes emerge. Clan Shadowpaw hunts corrupted beasts that escape into deep mist. The Sunken Grove now whispers with voices not of ancestors—shamans dare not enter. The Howling Council meets every moon now, not every Blood Moon. The forest fights back. The forest is losing.

Overview
A brutal land that breeds brutal people. Ashenmarsh stretches across smoking bogs, cracked salt flats, volcanic ash plains, and mountains that belch fire against grey skies. Nothing here comes easy—not food, not water, not survival itself. This is the crucible where the hardy races of Reghardia are forged.
The sky perpetually haze grey. The ground shifts—bog swallows the unwary, ash conceals crevasses, and from volcanic vents, sulfur breath reminds all who live here that the earth itself despises weakness.
Yet people endure. People thrive. Because Ashenmarsh does one thing better than any other continent: it breeds strength.
The Land
Four distinct regions define Ashenmarsh:
-
The Smoking Bogs – Western lowlands. Warm, acidic, treacherous. Strange flora thrives here—plants that digest meat, fungi that glow in darkness, reeds tough enough to forge into weapons.
-
The Ash Wastes – Central plains. Grey deserts of volcanic ash, where nothing grows and tribes migrate constantly, hunting the hardy beasts that somehow survive.
-
The Ember Mountains – Eastern range. Active volcanoes, thermal vents, caves warm enough to shelter through ash-fall seasons. The richest ores in Reghardia lie here—if you can claim them.
-
The Salt Flats – Southern coast. Cracked white earth stretching to the Sundering Sea. Bitter water, relentless sun, and the only reliable access to ocean trade.
Political Structure
No single ruler commands Ashenmarsh. Instead, the Bloodied Circle unites the clans—a council of chieftains who gather each year at the Burning Stone to settle disputes, declare war, and choose the Warbringer, a temporary war-chief who leads all clans against external threats.
The current Warbringer is Urzag Blacktusk, a scarred veteran who earned his position by defeating seven challengers in a single day when demon rifts first appeared. His authority lasts until the threat ends—or until someone kills him.
Recent Development:
- The Rift War: Ashenmarsh faces more demon incursions than any other continent—the rifts here open directly onto orc territory. Urzag Blacktusk leads constant campaigns, but casualties mount.
- The Emberfang Zealotry: Burning-Hide preaches that demons are Volux's judgment, that only the faithful will survive. Some clans accuse him of collaborating, letting rifts spread to prove his point. -The Dreadmaw Discovery: Deep beneath the bogs, Dreadmaw excavators uncovered ancient ruins—pre-elf, pre-orc, predating anything known. The structures hum with energy. They feel wrong. Slippery-Tongue has sealed the site but sent word to Warbringer Urzag.
- Weapon Shortages: Ironhold cannot forge fast enough. Demand from Galatea and others strains resources. Blacktusk must choose: supply allies or arm their own warriors.
- The Throne's Whisper: Ashwalker pilgrims report the Ash-Swept Throne speaks of a "great burning" and a "choosing." Gray-Wind interprets this as Volux's will. Skeptics fear demonic manipulation.
- Saltfang Dilemma: Drekspike trade booms—everyone needs Ashenmarsh weapons. But Brine-tooth watches ships from other continents arrive empty, their goods consumed by their own war efforts. Soon, Ashenmarsh may trade for nothing but promises.

They produce Ashenmarsh's legendary weapons—blades that hold edge through a thousand battles, armor that turns elf-forged steel.

Clan Dreadmaw – The Crocodile-Kin (Smoking Bogs)
Ambuscaders, Bog-Walkers, Poison-Masters
Scaled orcs who rule the treacherous bogs, Dreadmaw move where others sink, strike where others cannot see. They cultivate bog-fungi for poison, tame giant lizards as mounts, and know secrets of survival that would kill any other orc.
Chieftain Slippery-Tongue (a name earned through negotiation, not deception) leads Dreadmaw. His people serve as scouts, assassins, and the first line of defense against anything emerging from the bogs—including, recently, things that should not exist.
"The bog takes what the bog wants. We are what the bog wants." – Dreadmaw hunter
- #48Clan Ashwalker
Keys: clan ashwalker
Clan Ashwalker – The Waste-Runners (Ash Wastes)
Nomads, Hunters, Spirit-Talkers
No permanent settlements. Ashwalkers follow the ash-hares, the waste-worms, the desperate prey that somehow survives the grey desert. They know the Wastes better than any map—where hidden springs lie, where ash conceals solid ground, where spirits of the dead still walk.
Spirit-Speaker Gray-Wind leads through wisdom rather than strength, interpreting signs from ancestors, reading omens in ash-fall patterns. The Ashwalkers were first to warn that the dead grew restless, that spirits whispered of holes in the world.
"Ash covers all, eventually. Even gods. Even demons." – Ashwalker proverb
- #49Clan Saltfang

Clan Saltfang – The Coast-Walkers (Salt Flats)
Traders, Raiders, Ship-Builders
Hardiest of the hardy, Saltfang orcs endure the bitter southern coast where fresh water is luxury and shade is memory. They build ships from salt-resistant timber, trade with Galehaven and Moonshadow, and raid anyone who looks weak.
Chieftain Brine-tooth rules the Salt-Spire, a fortress carved from crystalline salt deposits, glittering painfully bright under rare sun. Saltfang controls Ashenmarsh's only major port—Drekspike—making them the continent's connection to the wider world.
"The sea tastes our sweat. We taste the sea's salt. We are even." – Saltfang sailor
- #50Clan Emberfang
Keys: clan emberfang
Clan Emberfang – The Fire-Walkers (Volcanic Vents)
Zealots, Lava-Smiths, Volux-Worshippers
The strangest clan, Emberfang orcs worship Volux above all others. They dwell closest to the magma chambers, working forges no other orc could survive, crafting weapons kissed by the fire god himself. Their skin bears ritual scars from molten stone—marks of devotion.
Priest-Chieftain Burning-Hide leads the faithful. Emberfang believes the Thinning is Volux's trial, that those who survive the coming fire will be reborn. They fight demons with fanatic joy, seeking glorious death in flame.
"Volux burns. We burn. We are Volux's children." – Emberfang creed
