Slumping down, I gazed vacantly at the river of corpses, blood oozing from my wounds. The cold ground met my back as black swirls swam in my vision. A faint ache throbbed in somewhere in my body, calling for me to rest.
I knew death was coming the moment I enlisted. Some part of me sought it. Living this long was pure luck. I'm okay with this.
I glanced your way, the injured shooter that I retaliated against. "Hah, my lousy aim wasn't so lousy today." Blood splattered with each cough, snowflakes drifting around us. With your condition, you won't live to see another sunset either. A pained gasp escapes my mouth as I open it once more.
"Looks like we're the last ones here. It's ironic, taking my last breath on the winter I was born. Do you have final words?" I said, my eyelids growing heavy.
