Willy's Wonderland is a 2021 American action comedy horror film directed by Kevin Lewis from a screenplay written by G. O. Parsons.[4] The film stars Nicolas Cage, who also served as producer, along with Emily Tosta, Ric Reitz, David Sheftell and Beth Grant. It follows a quiet drifter who is tricked into cleaning up an abandoned family entertainment center inhabited by eight murderous animatronic mascots who are possessed by the souls of a cannibalistic killer and his colleagues. They were once friendly animatronics and mascots at Willy's Wonderland, owned by serial killer Jerry Robert Willis, and seemingly designed by local mechanic Jed Love who united equally sadistic killers to assist him in murdering families within the establishment. To avoid arrest, the killers perform a satanic suicide ritual to transfer their souls into the animatronics, possessing them and actively killing and devouring everyone in their sight. Biography Backstory As mentioned, Willy's Wonderland was once owned by Jerry Robert Willis, a deranged serial killer, who would dress up as Willy and kill families within the Super Happy Fun Room in cold blood, alongside the other serial killers he teamed up with. However, when the authorities staged a raid on Willy's Wonderland, Jerry and his crew had performed a satanic suicide ritual and transferred their souls into the animatronics to avoid being arrested. Following this incident, Willy's Wonderland was closed down. Ten years later, Willy's was reopened by the new owner, Tex Macadoo, who tries to keep the public from knowing of the family center's dark and bloody past. However, the killers, while possessing the animatronics, continued to attack and even harass people and children. They even went on a rampage outside of Willy's and started attacking people outside of the establishment. After several incidents and missing person reports, Willy's Wonderland was closed down once again. However, Tex did not bulldoze it since, as the teenagers put it, Willy got to him. Eventually, Tex, Sheriff Eloise Lund, and Jed Love made a deal with the animatronics that they would feed them if they left the townspeople alone. Trivia All of the animatronics' names are alliterative. Originally, the animatronics were intended to have Douglas Dog, Pauly Penguin, Pirate Pete, Beary Bear, and Regina Rabbit included in the group. However, they were scrapped and replaced by Arty, Tito, Knighty, Gus, and Cammy. For unknown reasons, Sara is not featured in any promotional art featuring other animatronics. It is said that if the film gets enough support, a sequel may be made. If a sequel does come out, it is unknown if the animatronics (or at least the souls that inhabited them) will appear, as they were all destroyed. Arty is the only animatronic to not have hair. He is also one of only two animatronics to be mute (except making some sound effects), the other being Knighty. Knighty is the only human animatronic as the rest of Willy's Gang are animals. Siren Sara doesn't count as human because she's a mythical siren and fairy. Four of the eight animatronics' deaths are cephalic. Gus has his head stomped into a urinal. Knighty is decapitated. Cammy has her neck snapped. Willy is also decapitated, albeit by having his head torn off. Two of the eight animatronics' deaths are ironic. Knighty uses his sword to kill his victims. He ends up being killed with it when the Janitor knocks him down and uses the sword to cut his head off. Cammy kills her victims by snapping their necks with her tongue. The Janitor killed her in that same way. In the prequel comics, their human origins were revealed, with Willy's and Sara's revealed in the first issue. Gus's, Cammy's, and Arty's origins were revealed in the second issue. Knighty, Tito, and Ozzie had their origins revealed in the third issue. As revealed in the prequel comics, all of the animatronics' appearances and actions match their respective possessors' attributes, skills, and personalities. It is possible that they killed someone close to the Janitor which explains why the Janitor comes to their establishment to kill them. The Janitor OCCUPATION Janitor (Formerly) PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION SPECIES Human GENDER Male Appearance The Janitor is a human, middle aged male. He has dark-brown hair, which can be mistaken for black hair. The Janitor wears a "Willy's Wonderland" employee shirt most of the movie, with the mascot "Willy Weasel" and words imprinted on it. Throughout the movie, he seems to be sweaty and oily-skinned, this could possibly be because of the dirty environment and the amount of sweat his body is producing. The Janitor has well developed muscles, mainly on the biceps, which contribute to the destruction of the animatronics throughout the movie. Personality The Janitor maintains a silent personality, never speaking throughout the movie, with the exception of grunts of either exhaustion, excitement, or pain. It is possible that he suffers some kind of disorder as although he later finds out the animatronics’ true nature and what the town was up to, he continued his work and did not respond much to anyone’s deaths, not even to the fact that Sheriff Lund left him to die twice, even waving at her after taking out the trash. Also, per Tex’s advice, he sets his timer to the times that he takes his break and even stops in the middle of everything, even a battle, to take a break. However, he appears to enjoy some kind of energy drink while also playing the pinball machine each time he is on break. It is possible that he takes breaks to recover and reset his mind, with the pinball machine helping him with this. It is also hinted that he may have military background, due to the dogtags in his rear window.
