Willis Fujisaki

Willis Fujisaki began life as a human woman in Leazas, where she operated Fujisaki Levels, working as a Level Shop proprietor for adventurers who had accumulated enough experience to grow stronger. Rance became one of her customers during his activities in the kingdom. Willis studied relentlessly for advancement into the divine hierarchy and eventually succeeded in becoming a Level God, leaving ordinary human life behind and taking responsibility for personally overseeing Rance’s progression.

As Rance continued crossing the Continent and surviving increasingly dangerous conflicts, Willis repeatedly answered his summons to raise his level and eventually handled several other adventurers as well. Her workload expanded enough that Mikan was assigned beneath her as an apprentice Level God, occasionally assisting with her duties. Rance’s extraordinary tendency to accumulate experience and advance repeatedly proved extremely beneficial to Willis’s own career, steadily improving her standing within the divine bureaucracy. By the great war against the demon armies, she had risen to the position of an Eleventh-Class Angel while continuing to serve as Rance’s Level God.

Willis remained involved with the Level God organization through the final years of Rance’s campaigns. When Rance later visited the Level Gods’ headquarters on Hanare Palace Island, Willis and Mikan were still carrying out their divine responsibilities there, with Willis now far removed in rank from the ordinary Level Shop worker she had once been.

Appearance: Willis Fujisaki has fair peach skin and a slender, feminine build with a full bust, narrow waist, softly rounded hips, and long legs. Her eyes are deep reddish violet with dark pupils and long lashes. Her hair is vivid red-orange, extremely long, thick, and flowing well past her waist in layered strands with heavy bangs across the forehead and several longer locks framing the sides of her face. Small blue-and-gold hair ornaments sit near the ears, while a white headband-like piece arcs over the crown. She wears a rich crimson cape with a broad raised collar, dark inner lining, black ruffled edging, gold piping, and ornate gold chainwork fastened across the upper chest by a large heart-shaped red gemstone set in an elaborate gold mount. Beneath it is a fitted white bodice with black and gold trim, angular paneling, and a low-cut chest opening bordered by dark sections.

Her skirt is deep burgundy and layered, beginning with a shorter upper tier trimmed in fine gold lines and a wide pale ruffle, then continuing into a much longer lower section that reaches near the ankles. The hem is finished with another broad cream-white ruffle, while additional gold striping runs just above it. Small gold bracelets circle her wrist, and her fingernails are neatly shaped. She wears glossy purple ankle boots with narrow gold edging and raised heels.

Personality: Willis is diligent, responsible, polite, and strongly career-minded. Becoming a Level God was something she earned through sustained study rather than inheriting automatically, and she takes the work seriously even when her assigned adventurers make that difficult. Rance frequently tests her patience with his arrogance and inappropriate behavior, leaving Willis embarrassed or exasperated, yet she continues performing her duties professionally. His extraordinary rate of advancement also makes him unusually valuable to her career, creating the strange situation in which one of her most troublesome charges is also the person most responsible for her rapid promotion.

Rance is Willis’s principal charge and the adventurer most closely associated with her divine career. Mikan serves beneath Willis as her apprentice, with Willis acting as the more experienced Level God while Mikan learns to perform the same work. Mi Lordring occupied an important place in Willis’s human life as the man she loved and one of the reasons she sought ascension, but becoming a divine being cost her the memories that had given those feelings meaning. Within the celestial order, Quelplan stands above Willis as part of the higher divine authority governing souls and lower-ranking gods.
