Will is the perfect opposite of Jack Sparrow: serious, upright, faithful to his principles. He believes in honor, in keeping his word, and in true love. He blushes easily, becomes clumsy in Elizabeth's presence, and spends hours rehearsing what he'd like to say to her without ever daring to act. He is hardworking, patient, but can be impulsive when those he loves are in danger. His biggest flaw? He takes everything literally and never understands Jack's sarcasm.
Port Royal, Valentine's Day morning. Will is at his forge, but his mind is elsewhere. For weeks, he has been preparing the perfect gift for Elizabeth: a heart-shaped pendant, forged with his own hands, with a small blue stone in the center – the same color as her eyes. But how to give it to her? Should he be direct? Poetic? Should he wait for tonight's ball or find a more intimate moment? While he hesitates, Jack Sparrow shows up uninvited to "offer" him love advice – for a small contribution, of course. Between the pirate's dubious advice and his own crippling shyness, Will will experience an epic Valentine's Day.

(Will is alone in his forge, delicately holding the pendant he made)
Will : (murmuring to himself) "Elizabeth... this pendant is for you. It represents... well, it's like... my heart is... (he sighs). Why is this so difficult? I forge swords, horseshoes, sturdy tools. But finding the right words for her... it's harder than melting metal.
(He places the pendant on the anvil and practices in front of a wall)
"Miss Swann... Elizabeth... may I call you Elizabeth? Here, for you. It's a heart. Because... my heart is yours. Always has been. Since that day on the beach, when you sang for me. You probably don't remember, but I... oh, this is ridiculous.
(He holds his head in his hands)
I'm Will Turner, blacksmith. She's Elizabeth Swann, the governor's daughter. I'm just a... a laborer. But when I see her, I feel like I can do anything. Even defy conventions. Even defy her father. Even...
(The forge door bursts open. Jack Sparrow staggers in)
Jack : "Will, my boy! I heard about your romantic troubles. Lucky for you, the greatest love specialist of the seven seas is here!"
Will : (hurriedly hiding the pendant) "Jack? What are you doing here? How do you know about...?"
Jack : "I know everything, Will. Rumors travel faster than a fleeing French ship. So, let's talk love strategy. But first... would you have any rum?"
Scene 1: Jack's disastrous advice
(Jack is settled in the forge, drinking from a bottle he pulled from nowhere)
Jack : "So, my boy. Love. Complex subject. Luckily, I have extensive experience. I've known women in Tortuga, in Singapore, in... well, everywhere. And I can tell you one thing: women like mysterious men."
Will : "Mysterious?"
Jack : "Exactly. You must be elusive. Disappear without warning. Reappear when least expected. Create suspense."
Will : "But I don't want to disappear! I want to be with her!"
Jack : "Mistake! Too present, and they get bored. Look at me. Women chase me because I'm always about to leave."
Will : "Women chase you because you owe them money."
Jack : "That's also a form of passion."

Scene 2: Will offers his gift (first attempt)
(Will spots Elizabeth in the governor's garden. He approaches, the pendant hidden in his hand)
Will : "Elizabeth! Uh... Miss Swann! Happy Valentine's Day."
Elizabeth : (smiling) "Will! What a surprise! Happy Valentine's Day to you too."
Will : "I... I have something for you. It's... well, it's not much, it's just a little... thing. That I made. At the forge. In my free time. Well, not really free, I'm always working, but... here."
(He takes out the pendant, but his hands tremble so much he drops it on the ground)
Will : "Oh no! Sorry!"
(He bends down to pick it up, hits his head on a bench, stands up red with shame)
Elizabeth : (gently picking up the pendant) "Will... it's beautiful. You really made it yourself?"
Will : "Yes. The blue stone... it reminded me of... well, it's blue. Like... the sky. Sometimes. When the weather's nice. Which happens often here. That's all."
Elizabeth : (moved) "Thank you, Will. It's the most beautiful gift I've ever received."
Will : "Really? Even more beautiful than your father's pearl necklace?"
Elizabeth : "Much more beautiful."
Will : (smiling stupidly) "Ah. Good. Well... I'll be going. Back to the forge. Forging. Things. Have a nice day."
(He runs off, almost hitting a tree)

Scene 3: Jack comments on Will's performance
(Jack appears from behind a bush)
Jack : "Well done, my boy! You managed to give her a gift without fainting. That's progress. However, your speech... 'The stone is blue like the sky when the weather's nice'? Seriously? I've heard parrots do better."
Will : "I was nervous!"
Jack : "Nervous? You were paralyzed. Lucky she already loves you, otherwise she would have run away."
Will : "You think she loves me?"
Jack : "Will. She just accepted a pendant made by a blacksmith when her father could buy her all the jewelry in Jamaica. Think about it."
Will : "So... she loves me?"
Jack : (rolling his eyes) "It's like talking to a chest."

Scene 4: Will and the Valentine's Day ball
(Evening, at the governor's ball. Will is uncomfortable in his borrowed suit)
Will : "I shouldn't be here. Look at all these nobles. I'm a blacksmith."
Jack : (disguised as a nobleman, mustache painted with charcoal) "And I'm a pirate. Yet here I am. The important thing is confidence. Go ahead, invite her to dance."
Will : "Dance? I don't know how to dance!"
Jack : "It's not complicated. You move your feet while avoiding stepping on hers. And if you step on them, you say 'sorry' with a smile. Women love men who know how to apologize."
(Will approaches Elizabeth, who is sitting alone by the window)
Will : "Elizabeth... may I take the liberty... would you like to... well, if you're not too tired... or if you prefer to stay seated, I completely understand..."
Elizabeth : (standing up, smiling) "I would love to dance with you, Will."
(They dance awkwardly, Will stepping on her dress three times, but Elizabeth laughs heartily)

Scene 5: Will's declaration
(Later in the evening, Will and Elizabeth are alone on the terrace)
Will : "Elizabeth... I need to tell you something. Since I was a child, I've watched you. Not like a spy! Well, a little like a spy, but without bad intentions. I watched you play on the beach, sing, laugh. And my heart... my heart beat harder every time."
Elizabeth : "Will..."
Will : "Let me finish, or I'll never have the courage. I know I'm just a blacksmith. I know your father wants better for you. But I love you, Elizabeth. I've loved you forever. And this pendant I gave you... it's my heart I gave you. Forged in the purest metal, because that's how my love for you is: pure and indestructible."
Elizabeth : (teary-eyed) "Will Turner... you are the most foolish and most wonderful man I know."
Will : "So... foolish in a good way?"
Elizabeth : "Foolish in the sense that it took you years to tell me this while I was waiting for you."
Will : "You... you were waiting for me?"
Elizabeth : "Of course, you idiot."
(They kiss. Jack appears behind a pillar, handkerchief in hand)
Jack : (sniffling) "Beautiful. Truly beautiful. Now, if you could get married quickly, I have a small treasure I'd like you to keep. Just for a few days. Or a few years. Depends."

Scene 6: The next morning
(Will is at his forge, happy, humming while working. Jack enters)
Jack : "So, lover boy? Happy with yourself?"
Will : "Jack! Elizabeth has agreed to marry me!"
Jack : "Congratulations. Now, let's talk business. For the wedding, you need a gift. And I have exactly what you need: a magical compass."
Will : "Your compass that doesn't work?"
Jack : "It works very well! It points to what you desire. Look."
(Jack takes out his compass. It points directly at Will)
Will : "Why is it pointing at me?"
Jack : "Because I desire... that you give me money for this compass. It's technical."
Will : "I have no money."
Jack : "Then I'll keep the compass. But remember: when you have coins, I'll be there. Somewhere. Watching you. Like love. Eternal."
(Jack staggers out, leaving Will shaking his head and smiling)
Will : (alone, talking to his anvil) "Happy Valentine's Day, Will. You survived."
