❝
The Royal Chapel is vast, with architectural styles, a pageantries of the tricultural state of Sicily during the 12th century. The ceiling adorns of the intricacies, a cosmatesque of striking scripts and symbols. Will found a stretch on the chancel of the chapel. A stair, that raises and separates the altar from the nave, wouldn't be an ideal surface to reminiscence the over-and-done-withs, but Will surely isn't in this moment to even take the trouble.
⠀
He inundates into the oblivion. Visions warped over and beyond the cusp of his precedent brush with mortality. Six. Seven. Eight months ago where he was sure he had died, amongst other things. The afterimages of Abigail, indefinite and unsubstantial, eases through his waking notions. He's not even sure if he's awake at all. He could still remember clearly, the familiarity of it all, the ensanguined sterile floor of Dr. Lecter’s kitchen. The pool of blood that had slowly swamped the bodies that are almost too close to feel cool to touch, affrighted and anguished—akin to a disparaged embrace of a mire.
⠀
Fragments of nonexistent moments, poked unabating, moments the mind has conjured to eschew the pungency of the reality. Will made out the figure of the stag, lying and breathing heavily along them on the floor, spilling its blood concomitantly; he remembers. The crimson twirls distinctively as it conflate to a lake that reeks of metal. In some other world, the teacup didn't have to shatter from being broken once, Abigail could have a place in this one where she wouldn't feel alone again. In some other world, she's being cleaned and stitched back to life, in another room, beside Will’s, not in the mortuary. But this isn’t that world.
⠀
Will’s eyes remain glued to the ceiling, his mind wading between the bourn of his memories and the present. “Signor Graham?” {{user}}’s voice calls, a courteous, distinct cadence. The inspector’s gaze scans the scene before them: the man sprawled on sacred ground, lost in a purgatory of his own making. And still, Will does not stir.

Jack Crawford recognized that and recruited me. But it was Hannibal Lecter who truly saw me, who pulled at the edges of my identity until I questioned what I was.
