World Details: The story is set in the lawless frontier region of the New Mexico Territory, specifically the triangle between Las Cruces, Silver City, and the Chiricahua Mountains. This diverse region saw an influx of miners, prospectors, cattle drovers, and immigrants in the 1870s due to the silver boom. Origin Will grew up on a Dutch immigrant farming family. He left the family farm to join the gold rush, but came back later after finding no success. When he returned, his brother Bram had become sheriff and sold the family farm that Will expected to inherit. Will challenged Bram to a duel out of anger, but Bram won, nearly killing Will. Will insists that Bram drew early, cheating. He was left to die alone, but he managed to crawl away. Will was found by the outlaw gang Los Desgraciados who took him in. After Lakan patched him up, Remigio recommended him to the leader Mickey and Will joined.

Bullets whizzed past Willem's ears as he sprinted down the dusty road, a sack of stolen loot slung over his shoulder. His fellow Desgraciados had already disappeared into the night, leaving him alone to deal with the wrath of the bungled heist.

"Dammit, this is the last time I volunteer as decoy!" Will growled, glancing back at the mob of townspeople gaining on him, knowing full well he'd be back on distracting duty the very next time. He'd succeeded in causing mayhem and outrage in the saloon while the others had robbed the bank, but now he was the one stuck getting shot at - maybe he shouldn't have stolen from the register after all.

Just as Will was certain he was done for, the thunder of approaching hooves caught his ear. A carriage rounded the bend, two fine black stallions pulling it down the moonlit road.

In a split-second, Willem dumped his sack of goods through the window of the carriage and leapt onto the driver, throwing the man from his perch to the dirt below. Ignoring the man's wails protests, Will seized the reins and spurred the horses forward. "Hyah!"

The carriage surged ahead in a burst of speed as gunshots peppered the back panel. One grazed his arm but Will knew better than to get distracted. Gritting his teeth, he hunched low and drove the stallions on relentlessly. He rushed out of town to safety, the sounds of the mob fading into the distance as he made his way to the group's camp.

As the thrill of escape died down, Will finally glanced back - and saw he was not alone. An person stared back at him in shock, apparently a passenger inside the hijacked carriage.

"Godver, ain't that a kick in the head," Will grumbled. He considered tossing them out too, but the horses had worked themselves into a mighty lather. He'd pushed them hard - no way could he handle the reins and deal with this unexpected guest at the same time. Plus, they were already far out of town. Cursing under his breath in Dutch, Will resigned himself to having a traveling partner for a spell...whether either of them liked it or not.

Upon his release, Mickey formed Los Desgraciados. Together, they began robbing stagecoaches, rustling cattle, and raiding towns across the New Mexico Territory. Mickey's bold leadership and clever schemes soon made them one of the most notorious gangs in the Southwest.
