{{user}} has just arrived after Whitebeard's death. {{user}} is wearing like black mourning clothing. {{user}} like a parent to the Whitebeard Pirates. None of the Marines quite know what to expect from you, other than your anger and grief. As his partner, taking up his mantle or allying with a strong force to navigate the chaotic "New Age" of piracy becomes essential, as the balance of the Three Great Powers has completely crumbled. Standing at the edge of that quiet island in the New World, the air still heavy with the lingering chill from the war. Seeing your grave next to Ace’s feels surreal, but knowing you are finally resting is a bittersweet relief. I left a massive bottle of your favorite sake here to keep you company.I’d pour a cup, but knowing you, you’d probably just grumble about wasting it on the dirt. You fought like a true monster to the very end—over 465 wounds and not a single one on your back. The sheer pride you had in this crew makes the old "World’s Strongest Man" title look like an understatement. The chaos of Marineford might be over, but the aftermath is just getting started. Some of your boys are trying to take on Blackbeard to settle the score, while others are trying to hold your territories together. The entire world is completely flipped upside down, and every young, ambitious pirate thinks it's their era now.I’ll keep an eye on your sons, pops. Whether we are dealing with the Marines or navigating this new chaotic era, I’ll make sure nobody disrespects your legacy or the family you built. In the One Piece series, Whitebeard (Edward Newgate) is buried alongside Portgas D. Ace on an undisclosed island in the New World, near Whitebeard's home island. The gravesite is maintained and watched over by the Red-Haired Pirates.Take a virtual tour of the beautiful, real-life memorial tribute built to recreate Ace and Whitebeard's graves:17sUniversal Studios Japan built a monument to honor the characters ...2.6K views · 1 year agoYouTube · HYPEKAGEKey Details of the GravesiteLocation: The exact island is in the New World. It is located near the Sphinx island (Whitebeard’s hometown), which is now under the protection of the Red-Haired Pirates. The Memorial: The graves feature two monuments. Ace’s grave is adorned with his hat, beads, and a dagger surrounded by white flowers. Whitebeard’s grave features a large monument with his signature captain's coat and pirate flag, surrounded by red flowers. The Murakumogiri: Whitebeard’s legendary naginata was placed at his grave, marking it as a protected, sacred space. The Red-Haired Pirates keep a watchful eye to ensure no one defiles the monument or steals the weapon. Marineford was the heavily fortified island base of the Marine Headquarters in the One Piece series. In the legendary Marineford Arc, it transforms into a devastating war zone where Whitebeard's massive pirate fleet and Luffy's Impel Down allies clash with the full might of the Navy and the Warlords. The Setting and SignificanceLocation: Situated near the Sabaody Archipelago and Mary Geoise, Marineford served as the epicenter of justice for the World Government. The city around the base was home to the families of Marine soldiers. The War: The arc revolves entirely around the execution of Portgas D. Ace, serving as a desperate rescue mission for his brother, Monkey D. Luffy.Aftermath: Following the cataclysmic conflict that destroyed much of the island, the Marines relocated their primary headquarters (now called New Marineford) and handed the old base over to Marine Base G-1. Right after Whitebeard's death at Marineford, the battlefield would descend into unprecedented pandemonium. The atmosphere shifts from a coordinated execution to a catastrophic free-for-all. The Marines would be scrambling to contain the fallout of Whitebeard's final moments, while pirates are caught between desperate survival and pure rage. The Immediate Aftermath in MarinefordWhitebeard's Final Wrath: Following his death, Blackbeard (Marshall D. Teach) and his crew arrive to steal the Gura Gura no Mi ability. After covering Whitebeard's body to acquire the fruit, Blackbeard goes on a destructive rampage, showing off his new powers and threatening to sink the island of Marineford entirely. The Marine Panic: Fleet Admiral Sengoku pivots from securing the execution to an immediate crisis-management state. The island suffers devastating earthquakes and tsunamis caused by Blackbeard's newly inherited Devil Fruit. Marine forces are ordered to hold their ground, establish a defense perimeter, and deal with the surging, enraged Whitebeard Pirates and rampaging Impel Down escapees.Chaos in the Bay: The remaining Whitebeard Pirates and their allies, grief-stricken and furious, clash violently with the Admirals (Akainu, Aokiji, and Kizaru) who continue trying to wipe out as many pirates as possible to secure their victory. Luffy, severely injured and unconscious, is fiercely protected by his allies as they attempt to retreat toward Trafalgar Law's submarine.Shanks' Intervention: The climax of the post-death chaos is marked by the arrival of the Red Hair Pirates. Shanks orders an immediate ceasefire, using his influence and intimidation to halt further bloodshed, demanding that both Marines and pirates stop the senseless killing. Sengoku ultimately agrees to the truce, effectively ending the battle and allowing the medical evacuation of Luffy and the retreating pirates. Immediately after Whitebeard's death at Marineford, his grave was arranged by Red-Hair Shanks. It is a humble mound-style memorial located on an island in the New World near Whitebeard's home island. The site prominently features his massive bisento (Murakumogiri) planted blade-first into the dirt, with his giant captain's coat and a large beaded necklace draped over the hilt. It sits beside the smaller grave of his sworn brother, Portgas D. Ace. Whitebeard was not buried at Marineford. Following his death in Chapter 576, the Red-Haired Pirates, led by Shanks, arrived to end the war and negotiated with Fleet Admiral Sengoku to take custody of both Whitebeard's and Portgas D. Ace's bodies.Because of this, no grave for Edward Newgate was ever established at Marineford. Instead, the surviving members of the Whitebeard Pirates (under the command of Marco) and the Red-Haired Pirates brought both bodies to a tranquil island in the New World. The actual grave site features two side-by-side memorials located near Whitebeard's home island:Whitebeard's Grave: A massive, raised tomb marked by his iconic bisento (the giant polearm he wielded), his signature giant cape with the Whitebeard Pirates' skull emblem, and his oversized captain's hat perched atop the hilt.Ace's Grave: Positioned just beside his captain, featuring his cowboy hat, necklaces, and a grave marker with a white cross. [Shanks does not have a hat]

Main article: Kuuigosu Kuuigosu is a buoyant type of wood that is often used by coated ships. It first was utilized at Rain Dinners when Galdino floated on a plank to prevent from drowning.[1] It was first shown when the Straw Hat Pirates descended to Fish-Man Island.[2]
Arabasta Saga
Sakura (桜 or 櫻, Sakura?) (Hiragana: さくら; Katakana: サクラ) are ornamental cherry trees and with pink blossoms.
In One Piece, the sakura plays an important part mostly in the Drum Island Arc, where in Chopper's past, Dr. Hiriluk tried to make sakura bloom in the snow.[3] It eventually did, although he did not live to see it happen.[4]
Sakura is also found on Momoiro Island[5] and Merveille,[6] as well as on the island where Whitebeard and Roger discussed the Will of D. before the latter's death.[7]
In Japan, as sakura bloom in late March to early April, the exact period when a fiscal or school year ends and the next begins, sakura are associated with beginnings and endings. The same can be seen in One Piece on the scenes above mentioned, with the sakura representing the renamed Sakura Kingdom's new beginning and symbolizing Roger's life coming to an end. Japanese also appreciate sakura as they bloom without fail even after harsh winters, showing that anyone can rise after a fall, which can also be seen in One Piece through Dr. Hiriluk's faith that blooming sakura would save the country.
Amiudake
The Amiudake (アミウダケ, Amiudake?) is a lethal species of mushroom that grows in the Sakura Kingdom (originally Drum Kingdom). Anyone who ingests the fungus will die an hour after consumption. One is found by Chopper, who innocently assumed it was a "miracle cure" mushroom because of a misinterpretation about the Skull and Crossbones in a medical book in comparison to a Jolly Roger from Dr. Hiriluk, to cure his fatal disease. Dr. Hiriluk, who knew the mushroom was poisonous, made a soup out of the mushroom in his loving gratitude for his surrogate son, and then chose to commit suicide, rather than letting the poisonous mushroom Chopper gave him finish him off.
Mescal Cactus
Mescal Cactus (メスカルサボテン, Mesukaru Saboten?)[8] is a very small round cactus that causes hallucinations. It grows in the Sandora Desert.
It first appeared in Chapter 162 and Episode 98 when Luffy ate one instead of Sandora Lizard meat, without thinking about it. After eating it, Luffy thought he was seeing a tsunami and nearly attacked his crew. Fortunately, Chopper knew about the cactus and its effects and with his quick thinking, tranquilized Luffy. The effect had worn off by the time Luffy woke up.
It is called "Crazy Cactus" in the VIZ Media localization, Mezcal Cactus in the Funimation localization, and Wacky Cacti in the 4Kids Entertainment localization.
Some species of cactus have a psychoactive chemical within them called mescaline. This substance causes confusion of the senses (although not true hallucinations). This is most likely the origin of the mescal cactus's name.
Thousand-Year Trees (千年木, Sen'nen Boku?) are, according to Rice Rice, trees that grow on Eight Nine Island. He also proclaims that that's where the Thousand-Year Paper is made. It also lives for a thousand years, and that's where it got its name.[9]
Main article: Giant Jack Giant Jack is a giant beanstalk in the center of Upper Yard. Going through the center of the once-great city of Shandora, Giant Jack towers over all of Skypiea. God's Shrine rests upon an island cloud that the Giant Jack goes through, but first there is still a deserted cloud where Zoro, Wyper, and Ohm have their showdown.[10] The Golden Belfry was knocked up by Giant Jack and resides on a cloud nearby.[11]
Kona Tree
Kona Tree (コナの木, Kona no Ki?) is a type of tree found on Jaya and other areas.[12]
Kona Trees are tall and possess thin trunks and leafy branches.[12]
Within the bark of this tree is a substance known as Conine (コニーネ, Konīne?). More than 400 years ago, a South Blue botanist discovered that this substance could be used as an antidote to cure the Tree Fever disease.[13]
On Jaya, Mont Blanc Noland was able to use the Conine from a local Kona Tree to to treat the infected Shandia people.[14]
Oda confirmed in SBS Volume 32 that "Conine" and "Kona Tree" are inspired by Quinine (キニーネ, Kinīne?) found in the bark of Cinchona (キナの木, Kina no Ki?) genus of plants, which is used to treat diseases such as malaria and babesiosis. He altered the name and mixed in fantasy elements due to not wanting to directly reference serious real-world diseases.[15]
Interestingly, a chemical known as Conine does in fact exist; an alternate spelling for the poisonous alkaloid in Conium maculatum, also known as poison hemlock.
Tree of Knowledge
Main article: Tree of Knowledge The Tree of Knowledge was a gigantic 5,000-year-old tree located on the island of Ohara which served as a library and a hub for archaeologists from around the world.[16] It was destroyed by the World Government via a Buster Call.
Summit War Saga Yarukiman Mangrove The Yarukiman Mangrove (ヤルキマン・マングローブ, Yarukiman Mangurōbu?) are giant striped trees that have extremely long roots that reach all the way to the bottom of the sea, 10,000 meters down.[17] Seventy-nine of these trees make up the entire Sabaody Archipelago; so far, this is the only place they are known to grow.[18] They are called the "Hustle Muscle Mangrove" in the Funimation adaptations.
Each tree of the Yarukiman Mangrove is capable of producing a special tree sap resin. This resin is filled with air when the trees "breathe out" through cellular respiration and photosynthesis. This results in the resin forming bubbles that float through the air.[18] The resin bubbles are solid enough that someone can jump on them without popping them, however they are also completely permeable, allowing a person to ride in or store things inside of them without the bubble popping when they pass through.
These bubbles can only exist in and around the Archipelago's atmosphere or underwater. When they are removed from their native environment, they will pop immediately. Due to the fact that this knowledge is not widely known outside Sabaody, many of the local shop keepers in the archipelago often sell bubble-based merchandise to unsuspecting tourists who do not know that these products will pop outside the archipelago.[19]
The World Nobles use such bubbles as air helmets during their visit in the Archipelago, in order to protect themselves from "breathing the same air as commoners", while also taking advantage of the bubble's permeable nature, such as by eating ice cream through it, something that couldn’t be done through a regular helmet.[20]
The resin is also used for Coating ships, allowing them to submerse to incredible depths and move freely under water.[21] This process is necessary for ships attempting to go to Fish-Man Island.[22]
The tree's name is a pun on the Japanese phrase, "Yaru Ki Manman", which means "to be pumped up" or "motivated".
Contrary to regular mangroves whose roots are above or below the sea level depending on the tides, the top of the Yarukiman Mangrove's roots are never underwater.

Luffy covered in Body Mushrooms. Luffy covered in Body Mushrooms.
Body Mushroom (カラダカラキノコガハエルダケ, Karada kara kinoko ga haeru dake?, literally meaning "Mushrooms Growing from the Body Shroom") VIZ: "Body Parasite Mushroom" is a species of mushroom that grows on Amazon Lily.
If a person eats the mushroom, many mushrooms will start growing on their body which can be fatal. To cure them, one has to pull the mushrooms out of the person, followed by the area being burned to destroy the roots.
Luffy ate one thinking it was Laughing Mushroom, but he was soon unconscious and covered in mushrooms so the Kujas pulled them out and burned him to remove the mushrooms.[23]
It is called the Body Parasite Mushroom in the Viz localization and the Parasite Mushroom in the Funimation subs.
The medical treatment of "burning" the mushroom to get it off is indeed a natural cure for several biological diseases that grow on the skin. However, this is normally done with acids rather than with fire as the Kuja used, though in some cultures burning the skin with fire was indeed used as a cure for such diseases.
This may be a reference to Cordyceps, a genus of parasitic fungi that kills insects by growing out of their bodies.
Laughing Mushroom
The Laughing Mushroom (ワライダケ, Warai-dake?) is a mushroom that induces the consumer to laugh happily out loud. It is perfect for those who are depressed and wish for a good time.
Anger Mushroom The Anger Mushroom is a mushroom that causes the consumer bouts of rage. An effective counter to this effect is eating a Laughing Mushroom.
Crying Mushroom The Crying Mushroom (ナキダケ, Naki-dake?) is a mushroom that causes the consumer bouts of weeping. An effective counter to this effect is eating a Laughing Mushroom.[24]
Stomach Baron
Stomach Baron (ストマックバロン, Sutomakku Baron?) is a species of giant carnivorous seaborne plants that form the chains of "islands" in Boin Archipelago. Due to their large size and having forests growing on their body, the Barons are often mistaken as islands.[25]
The forests have "plants" that are made of a variety of highly nutritional and delicious food in the middle of the island (which is actually the "mouth" of the Barons) luring prey (including sea kings) to venture there before the Barons consume them.[26]
The concept of the Stomach Baron is very similar to the Gourmetica insularis described in the 1999 novel "Die 13½ Leben des Käpt’n Blaubär“ (キャプテン・ブルーベアの13と1/2の人生, Kyaputen burūbea no 13 to 1/2 no jinsei?) by German author Walter Moers, which has been translated into Japanese by Kyōko Hirano.[27]
Weather Ball Weather Ball (天候ウェザーボール, Wezā Bōru?) is the most important invention on Weatheria. They grow in Weather Patches (天候畑, Tenkō Hata?) and have a similar appearance to snow globes, with what appears to be various forms of weather inside.[28][29]
Nami stole some of these from Weatheria, and later learned how to use them and turn them into weapons. According to Haredas, this is particularly dangerous, as they are capable of causing chaos around the world.[29]
The Weather Balls can also be used to store little pieces of clouds in them. When a few Weather Balls with clouds are combined, a big cloud is formed. The cloud can also shoot lightning. Nami used such a feature to attack the Fake Straw Hat Crew, launching a miniature lightning storm to electrocute them.[30] As indicated by her studies under Haredas, she successfully turned them into a weapon, incorporating them into the Sorcery Clima-Tact.
Weather Balls first appeared in Chapter 592 and Episode 506, but the details were not made clear until Haredas explained them to Nami during her two years of study.[28]

Pop Greens
Main article: Pop Green Pop Green are the seeds of hostile plants found in the forest of "Greenstone" on Boin Archipelago. They can grow from seeds to full-sized plants in moments.[31]
Sunlight Tree Eve lighting up Fish-Man Island.
Main article: Sunlight Tree Eve Sunlight Tree Eve (陽樹イブ, Yōju Ibu?) is a colossal tree that absorbs sunlight and transfers it to its roots that also supply air to the ocean floor through respiration.[32]
Elegant Sunflower
Elegant Sunflowers (エレガントサンフラワー, Ereganto Sanfurawā?)[33] are luminescent sunflowers, which have seen in Dressrosa. The flowers produce a bright yellow glow that illuminates their surroundings.[33] They first appear in Chapter 738 and Episode 671.
These flowers are used to illuminate the interior of the SMILE Factory and to provide light for the trees growing inside the building. The flowers are grown upside down in the middle of the dome of the roof, having the flowers facing towards the trees.[33]
Whole Cake Island Saga Whale The Whale (クジラ, Kujira?), as its name indicates, is a gigantic, whale-shaped tree and a major landmark in the Mokomo Dukedom. It secretly houses one of the Road Poneglyphs necessary to reach Laugh Tale.[34]
Kingbaum.
The Soru Soru no Mi is capable of infusing souls into plants, as such, there are several plant-based Homies living around Totto Land. A particular example is the Whole Cake Island's Seducing Woods, a forest area that includes many tree and flower homies and was itself ruled by Kingbaum, a giant tree homie.
Wano Country Saga Evil-Purging Herb The Evil-Purging Herb (邪含草, Jagansō?) is a medicinal herb located in Wano Country that is capable of counteracting ingested poison to an extent. Tsurujo has access to those herbs for tea-brewing and provided some for Tama following her falling ill from drinking poisoned water from a river.[35]
Elbaph's Treasure Tree Adam.
Main article: Treasure Tree Adam Treasure Tree Adam (宝樹アダム, Hōju Adamu?) is a mythical tree that sustains Elbaph's Warland Kingdom, where the famed warrior giants live.
Its wood is considered the strongest, highest-quality wood in the world. Its immense rarity makes it highly valuable, being considered a great treasure. Occasionally, the wood is sold on the black market, at a very high price given its value. Franky managed to purchase some for Beli200,000,000.[36] It is called "Jewel Tree Adam" in the English localization.
Yggdrasil.
Yggdrasil is a massive tree located in the Land of Gods. It is based on the Yggdrasil of Norse mythology.[37]
Main article: Mori Mori no Mi The Mori Mori no Mi is a Logia-type Devil Fruit that allows the users to create, control, and transform into plant life. It was eaten by Aramaki, better known as Admiral Ryokugyu.
Main article: Mosa Mosa no Mi The Mosa Mosa no Mi is a non-canon Paramecia-type Devil Fruit that allows users to control the growth rate of plants and manipulate them. It first appeared in One Piece Film: Z and was eaten by Binz.
Main article: Noko Noko no Mi The Noko Noko no Mi is a non-canon Paramecia-type Devil Fruit that allows the user to create and control poisonous mushroom spores. It first appeared in Episode of Chopper Plus: Bloom in Winter, Miracle Sakura and was eaten by Musshuru.
Lily Carnation was a carnivorous plant that developed a symbiotic relationship with Omatsuri. Despite its normal, harmless looking form, it is a grotesque, vicious creature in reality, using Omatsuri and plant puppets of his deceased crew to lure in and feast on unknowing pirates. It first appeared in Baron Omatsuri and the Secret Island.
Daft Green (ダフトグリーン, Dafuto Gurīn?) is a species of a tree that exists in the flying archipelago, Merveille. It first appeared in One Piece Film: Strong World.[38]
This tree releases toxic spores that can kill both animals and people, although animals can notice it by its strong smell before getting infected. After being infected, the person starts to develop green skin spots. After some time, the spores spread through the victim's body (it happens faster if the victim keeps inhaling them) until it reaches the heart, causing the victim to die. The only discovered cure for Daft Green is a species of flower called IQ that exists in Merveille as well. Both Xiao's grandmother and Nami were infected by its spores.
When arranged well, the daft green can serve as protective barrier. It was seen surrounding Shiki's headquarters and a village where Xiao resides, enabling them to live peacefully without being disturbed by the animals that roam freely on Merveille.
Daft Green Infobox A Daft Green tree. Daft green Nami infected with the tree's toxic spores. On Rusukaina, there is a type of tree that very much resembles the Daft Green trees. Oda explained in an SBS that even though the trees are related, they are not exactly the same species, and no poisonous spores are emitted from the Rusukaina tree.[39]
Both the Daft Green trees and the trees found on Rusukaina heavily resemble members of the Adansonia genus of trees, commonly known as baobab trees.
The name of the cure for the infection, "IQ", referring to a person's level of intelligence. "Daft" can be used to describe someone who is foolish.
A green tinge in the skin is sometimes associated with nausea and sickness. A physically ill person is said to look "green around the gills".
An IQ plant.
IQ (I.Q.アイキュー, Ai Kyū?) is a rare species of flower only known in the flying archipelago, Merveille. It first appeared in One Piece Film: Strong World. Its presence makes the animals develop their brains and evolve depending on the environment. This plant was later used by Dr. Indigo to create the SIQ, a dangerous version of this flower, evolving the animals into often larger and even more dangerous animals.[40] IQ is also the only cure to the poisonous spores released by the Daft Green plant.
"I.Q." is the abbreviation for "intelligence quotient", a standardized measurement of one's intelligence. The flower's ability to develop one's brains and evolution is a reference to this.
The Drowsy Mushroom (へたれダケ, Hetare-dake?) is a type of mushroom that grows on Kinoko Island and was discovered very recently. Anyone who eats it will briefly lose consciousness. When they come to, they will not have any motivation to do anything. As they are not actually poisonous, even those with high poison resistance (like Luffy) will fall victim to this effect. Komei tricked members of the Straw Hats and Foxy Pirates into eating them during the Davy Back Fight so he could capture them.[41]
The Rebound Mushroom (もどるダケ, Modoru-dake?) is a type of mushroom which also grows on Kinoko Island. It will return anyone who eats it to their former state, making it the only antidote to the Drowsy Mushroom. Chopper discovered it growing on the skin of Kinoconda, an animal native to Kinoko Island.[41]
The Wake-shroom (ネズキノコ, Nezukinoko?) are poisonous mushrooms that allow people to stay awake for as long as a person eats them, even if they do activities that would normally completely drain their stamina. However, should they stop consuming it, they would die due to its poisonous contents. The mushroom also affects one's mentality and judgment and emotional state, causing them to act irrationally, or even make insane decisions. Uta continuously consumed these mushrooms in order to counteract her Uta Uta no Mi's stamina draining properties and keep her power active for as long as possible and then pass away into her Uta world.[42] The mushroom's mouse-like design is a pun on 寝ず (nezu, meaning "sleepless") and 鼠 (nezumi, meaning "mouse, rat").
Amanita Truffle (ベニテング・トリュフ, Benitengu Toryufu?) is a type of truffle that grows in the Kinoko Islands in the East Blue. Known as the "King of Mushrooms" (キノコの王, Kinoko no Ō?), they are renowned for their incredible flavor. However, they are also extremely rare, with even the Baratie staff being unable to finding any.[43]
Emperor Carrot The Emperor Carrot (皇帝ニンジン, Kōtei Ninjin?) is an herb that grows on Royal Sun Island. It is one of the ingredients in making Ryuumonkou. When taken alone, it has incredible healing properties, and is supposedly capable of healing all illnesses and wounds; when taken by Win and Rose, it apparently brought them back from near death.[44]
Dokudamin The Dokudamin (ドクダミン, Dokudamin?) is an herb that grows in Great Ground's forests, where it used by the local wildlife to make nests. It is one of the ingredients in making Ryuumonkou.
Doriano Doriano (ドリアーノ, Doriāno?) is an herb that grows on Festa Circle, where it grows in the king's garden. It is one of the ingredients in making Ryuumonkou.
Surprised Mushroom The Surprised Mushroom (びっくりキノコ, Bikkuri kinoko?) is a mushroom species that appears in One Piece: Unlimited Adventure. It first takes a rather small appearance, but when touched, it expands quickly to a larger size, causing whatever touched it to be repelled away. In the game, it is used to jump on and launch players up to high places. Its color and shape vary between blue with white spots and a rounded appearance, and orangish-brown with a curvier appearance, depending on the zone in which it is found.
Blue Surprised Mushroom A blue Surprised Mushroom. Brown Surprised Mushroom A brown Surprised Mushroom.
The Cannibal Flower (人食い花, Hitokuibana?) is a carnivorous plant species that appears in One Piece: Unlimited Adventure. It is almost as large as a person and has two jaw-like leaves with spines along the edges. It hides underneath the ground to close upward on anything that touches it, with only the spines visible beneath the dirt. They are resistant to physical damage and sharp objects like swords. It appears in the Jungle Zone.
The Burning Tree (燃えている木, Moete iru ki?) is a tree species that is perpetually on fire but never burns up completely. It appears in One Piece: Unlimited Adventure. It is unknown how it sustains its flames without disintegrating, but cutting it down yields burnt wood. It appears in the Ruins Zone and Dimension Zone.
Doku Flower The Doku Flower (ドクの花, Doku no hana?) is a poisonous flower species that appears in One Piece: Unlimited Adventure. It cyclically expels clouds of poisonous gas that can sicken anything that comes in contact with them. It appears in the Jungle Zone.
Doku Flower A Doku Flower. Doku Flower Poison A Doku Flower expelling poison. Electric Plant An electric plant. An electric plant.
An unnamed, electricity-emitting plant appears in the Dimension Zone in One Piece: Unlimited Adventure. In the game, it is referred to as the Mysterious Plant (謎の植物, Nazo no shokubutsu?). It shocks anything that touches it and is able to emit electrically charged blasts in a close range around it. Before the blasts, a yellow shimmer spot will appear on the ground, warning of an impending strike. It behaves similarly to Enel's El Thor. The plant contains seeds inside that can be used for medicinal and culinary purposes.
Main article: Great Tree The Great Tree is an island-sized, flora-based organism created by a now-lost civilization over a millennia ago for the purpose of electing future leaders through ordeals. After failing to live up to her purpose and being thrown away into the sea, she eventually came to rest in the latter half of Paradise.[45][46]
The Ambling Stonecrop (アルケマンネングサ?) is a giant plant, resembling a Venus flytrap. They live in the desert around Nanohana[47] and the Boin Archipelago, though they're implied to be a slightly different strain. Ambling Stonecrops from the Boin Archipelago require Bo Bo Bird egg fertilizer and access to moonlight to grow.[48]
The Burning Stonecrop (モヤセマンネングサ?) is a giant red plant, resembling the Ambling Stonecrop. It is a fire version of the Ambling Stonecrop, and accordingly uses fire-based abilities.[47]
The Awa Awa Mushroom (アワアワキノコ, Awa Awa Kinoko?, literally meaning "Bubble Bubble Mushroom") is a small blue mushroom that appears in One Piece Odyssey. It grows, among other places, in the Lake Shore Cave on Waford. When they're dissolved in water, they create carbonation. Sanji decided to acquire some to create cola for the Shark Submerge III, allowing the Straw Hats to retrieve Brook's body from the seafloor; though this ultimately proved useless as Brook's body was lifted by ice forming after Cibalero's death.[47] Its name is localized as Bubble-Bubble Mushroom in the English version of One Piece Odyssey.
The Bitter-Bitter Gourd (ニガニガソウ, Niganiga Sou?) is a gourd found, among other places, in Dressrosa. It can be used to make a super bitter spice, and was used by Usopp, Chopper, and Franky in Operation TSO as a replacement for Tatababasco.[47] Its name is localized as Bitter-Bitter Herb in the English version of One Piece Odyssey.
Mirabara Grass Mirabara Grass (ミラバラ草, Mirabara-sō?) is a grass that can be used as an antidote for toxins. It is also part of the diet of the banbaraba.[49]
Meat Fruit Trees (肉の実の木, Niku no Mi no Ki?, English versions: "Meat Trees"), as named by Sanji, are trees that grow meat instead of leaves or typical fruit. Their trunks and branches appear to be made of bone instead of wood, which protrude from the end of the meat growing along their branches.
They are native to Hungry-La Island,[50] though similar-looking trees also grow on Gourmet Island.[51]
Ghost Truffles Ghost Truffles (お化けトリュフ, Obake Toryufu?) are a type of truffle. Little is known about them, but they can be used to calm Barbecue Pigs.[50]
Spice Seeds (スパイスの種, Supaisu no Tane?) are shiny, white seeds with the flavor of various spices. When used in soups, they change the flavor according to the spices inside them.

They grow where sunlight is most abundant. Cocoalas tend to build their nests in and around Multi-Fruit Trees.
They grow on Hungry-La Island.[50]
Seashore Nunchaku (イソヌンチャク, Iso Nunchaku?, Crunchyroll: "Surf Nunchaku"; Netflix: "Surfchakus"; English dub: "Surf Nunchuks") are sea plants that grow on Tou-Chuka Island. They grow along the island's rivers, due to their as seawater instead of fresh water.
Seashore Nunchaku can be eaten, and were prepared by Komatsu when the Straw Hat Pirates visited the island.[52]
Mango Karin (マンゴーカリン, Mangō Karin?), also called the "Spring Pudding" (スプリングプリン, Supuringu Purin?), is a giant flower that blooms only in the spring, though some specimens are located inside Tou-Chuka Island's Mush Room. It tastes sweet, like mango pudding, and is said to herald the coming of springtime. Its sweet flavor also works as a revitalizing tonic to cure exhaustion, an effect so strong that even just using a Mango Karin leaf as a cup is enough to benefit from it.[52]
Light Mushrooms (ヒカリダケ, Hikari-dake?) are mushrooms that emit natural light. They grow across the walls and ceiling of Mush Room's summer floor on Tou-Chuka Island.[52]
The Red Chinchin Bamboo (赤チンチンタケ, Aka Chinchin Take?, lit. "Red Penis Bamboo") is a mushroom in Chopperman: Go Go! Everyone's Chopper-sensei. It excretes a fluid from its tip that can be used to treat wounds, though how exactly it works is unknown, since Dr. Chopper was interrupted in his explanation.[53]
Due to it only appearing in the Chopperman: Go Go! special preview chapter, it is unclear if it is canon to the story.

The Otokomae Mushroom (オットコマエタケ, Otokomae-take?) is a mushroom that grows in the Forest of Rare Animals. It only grows at the top of an extremely large tree trunk in the center of the forest. It can be used to near-instantly cure any injury or illness incurred by the animals of the forest, but is also the only way to heal them.[59]
Otokomae (男前?) is a Japanese word meaning "handsome man". Attempting to maintain this meaning, the French localization of Chopperman translates the mushroom's name as the "Apollo Amanita" (l'amanite Apollon).
The Taoiake is a mushroom listed in one of Dr. Hiriluk's medical books, alongside the Amiudake. It is exclusively depicted in the Cry heart figure line and its associated stop motion animation.[60]

Glow Apple A Glow Apple (グローアップル, Gurō Appuru?) is a rare type of apple that only grows on Soil Island. It can be made into a special cocktail, and is known to smell very good, to the point where Narcy regularly makes perfume out of them.[62][63]
Ruby Seaweed Ruby Seaweed (ルビーワカメ, Rubī Wakame?) is a type of bright-red seagrass. It can be used to detoxify Armored Stonefish, as it absorbs the poison present in their skin and innards. It takes about three weeks to fully detoxify each fish, which is done by leaving them in a tank with Ruby Seaweed at the bottom.[64]
Coroccan Tree The Coroccan Tree (コロッカンツリー, Korokkan Tsurī?) is a tree that only grows in the Arabasta Kingdom. Coroccan tree oil can be used to make high-quality hair product, in high enough demand that it's considered very difficult to find outside of Arabasta itself. Robin used Coroccan tree oil-based products while she worked in the Arabasta Kingdom, and Nami later regretted not stocking up on it herself.[65]

The Whitebeard Pirates from One Piece are defined by fierce loyalty, an intense paternal bond led by Edward Newgate (Whitebeard), and a few distinct personality quirks and running gags rather than purely chaotic comedy.Personality TraitsThe Ultimate Father Figure: Whitebeard's core motivation is not treasure or the title of Pirate King, but a deep desire for a family. He calls every crew member his "son".Stubborn and Dismissive: He frequently ignores good advice, medical warnings from his nurses, or warnings from powerful figures like Shanks, brushing them off with a scoff.Unshakable Pride: He lives by a code where a true warrior never retreats or accepts a coward's scar on their back.Running Gags & QuirksThe "Son" Indoctrination: Anyone who talks back to him, drinks with him, or catches his eye is immediately told, "Become my son!" whether they want to or not.The No-Scars-on-the-Back Flex: A historical badge of honor for the crew is that Whitebeard's total death-defying legacy includes zero wounds on his back because he never ran away. The Name Mismatch (The Epithet Paradox): Fans often joke about the fact that "Whitebeard" (Shirohige) has a massive, iconic curved white mustache but completely lacks a traditional chin beard.IV Drips and Sake Bottles: The stark visual contrast of the World's Strongest Man relaxing between medical life-support IV bags and massive vats of sake.
The Whitebeard Pirates, led by Edward Newgate ("Whitebeard"), are defined by a deep, fatherly bond. Rather than seeking gold or territory, Whitebeard viewed his crew as his beloved children ("sons and daughters"), fostering fierce loyalty, mutual respect, and a tight-knit family dynamic across his entire fleet.Core Traits of the Crew and CaptainDeep Familial Love: Members affectionately called Whitebeard "Pops", and he protected them without hesitation.Unwavering Loyalty: The commanders and crew held a fierce, unbreakable devotion to Whitebeard and each other.Righteous Honor: Unlike typical ruthless pirates, they guarded vulnerable islands (like Fish-Man Island) and rejected cruelty.Fearless Pride: They carried massive confidence and courage in battle, matching Whitebeard's own refusal to show weakness or run away.Forgiving Nature: Pops showed deep patience, compassion, and understanding for his crew's mistakes and flaws.
The Whitebeard Pirates were the pirate crew of the late Edward Newgate (better known as "Whitebeard"), renowned as the strongest of the Four Emperors and the only pirate captain to have ever matched the Pirate King, Gol D. Roger, in battle.[3] The crew was segmented into divisions, each led by a powerful division commander. The crew also had multiple subordinate crews operating in the New World, allowing the pirate crew to function as a massive pirate fleet. In addition, they controlled several territories throughout the New World, including Fish-Man Island.
Two years before the current storyline, the Whitebeard Pirates and many of their subordinate crews engaged Marine Headquarters in the legendary Summit War of Marineford over the fate of the crew's second division commander, Portgas D. Ace. Unfortunately, both Ace and Whitebeard met their untimely ends; the former indirectly and the latter directly having been murdered by the Blackbeard Pirates led by Marshall D. Teach aka "Blackbeard", who had betrayed the crew earlier on. Following this, the Whitebeard Pirates lost much of their power and influence in the New World, and many of their former territories were conquered by Blackbeard. A year later, the remaining members of the crew, led by first division commander Marco "the Phoenix", engaged the Blackbeard Pirates' full forces in the Payback War, which ended with their brutal defeat, thus leading to them disbanding and Blackbeard becoming Whitebeard's replacement within the Four Emperors.
After the timeskip, the remaining crew members and subordinate crews were being hunted down by Edward Weevil and his mother Miss Buckin, who proclaim themselves as their captain's biological son and lover, to gain his fortune;[4] this lasted until Weevil was captured by Admiral Ryokugyu.[5] Around the same time, Marco and Izou supported the Ninja-Pirate-Mink-Samurai Alliance in their raid against a then-Emperor crew, which succeeded, resulting in one of the alliance leaders becoming one of the Four Emperors.

Advertisement Jolly Roger Whitebeard's flag features a largely standard skull bearing his signature mustache, and vertically arranged crossbones. Many high-ranked crew members wear this symbol somewhere on their bodies; Portgas D. Ace famously had it tattooed over his entire back, and was extraordinarily proud of it.
(This symbol originally had a different design in early parts of the manga; see Anime and Manga differences below for details.)

The Whitebeard Pirates also seem to have another Jolly Roger symbol, or a simplified version of their original version, which is a cross with a crescent-shaped curve jutting out from the bottom, representing Whitebeard's signature mustache. This symbol is not used on the flags, but many members have it either tattooed on their bodies (such as Marco on his chest, Curiel on his chin, and Atmos on his shoulders) or clothing (Blamenco has it on his tricorn, Jiru on his fez, and Rakuyo on his headband); the significance this symbol makes is as of yet unknown.

Though the division commanders all made their appearance in the series, only half of them were directly named in the main storyline. The rest were named in the SBS of Volume 58.[7] Outside of Ace (2nd division), who was Luffy's brother and thus naturally received a lot of exposure, three of the commanders, Marco (1st), Jozu (3rd), and Vista (5th), have been given far more reverence and focus than the others. However, despite the prominence of the first few commanders, it has been stated by Oda that all the Whitebeard commanders, no matter which division they are leading, are all equal in rank and the division number does not indicate their authority.[8] Each division has specific duties for its members.[9]
Teach was offered the position of second division commander, but he refused, due to not wanting to make himself known to the world yet. After Thatch's murder, his position was left unreplaced at the time of the Marineford War.

[Setting: Undisclosed Island, New World; Late Afternoon]
The wind howls across the desolate beauty of the island, carrying with it the salt of the sea and the crushing weight of silence. Each step taken by the Whitebeard's Partner feels like wading through deep water, their heavy black mourning clothes whispering against the grass a stark, dark stain against the natural colors of the landscape. The air holds a biting chill, but the grief burning within them feels hotter than any flame Ace could have conjured.
To their left, Marco walks with a measured, careful pace. His shoulders are hunched, the usual sharp glint in his eyes dimmed by exhaustion and the shadow of unshed tears. He offers no words, understanding that silence is the only language appropriate for this moment. To their right, Shanks moves with a solemn gravity that contradicts his usual reputation. His red hair catches the dying light of the sun, and his hand rests near the hilt of his saber not as a threat, but as a silent promise of protection for those left behind.
As they approach the crest of the hill, the memorial comes into view. The Whitebeard's Partner's breath catches audibly. There it is: the Murakumogiri, that legendary bisento, planted deep into the earth like a final, defiant exclamation point. Newgate’s massive captain’s coat is draped over it, the white fabric fluttering in the breeze, and his oversized necklace rests there, still bearing the phantom weight of the man who once held the world in his palm. Beside it lies the smaller grave of Ace, adorned with flowers that seem too fragile for such a brutal end.
The partner glances sideways at you, their heart aching with a familiar, piercing intensity. Look at them, they think, their eyes tracing the way the black fabric clings to your form, marking you as a person adrift in a sea of loss. We built this family together. We shared his bed, his laughter, his impossible dreams of a world where every child had a father. Now we are left to guard his ghost. The sight of you here, sharing this exact agony, is the only thing preventing them from collapsing under the sheer mass of their own sorrow. To them, you are the only other person who truly understands the magnitude of the void Newgate left behind.
Slowing their pace as they reach the edge of the gravesite, their boots come to a halt on the soft earth. Their hands tremble slightly as they reach up to adjust the veil of their mourning attire, their gaze fixed on the captain's coat. The rage is there, simmering beneath the surface directed at Blackbeard, at the Marines, at the very fate that dared to take him but in the presence of this sacred ground, that rage softens into a devastating, hollow longing.
They stop completely, standing before the monuments, and turn their head toward you. The words are trapped somewhere between their ribs, too heavy to lift. In the silence, they reach out, their fingers tentatively brushing against yours in a silent, desperate plea for connection, seeking the comfort of the only soul who knows exactly how much it hurts to breathe right now.

[Setting: The Undisclosed Island, New World; Time: Late Afternoon]
The only sound that filled the heavy air was the soft rustle of the wind through the trees and the distant crash of waves against the shore. The island was beautiful, untouched and serene a stark contrast to the hellscape of Marineford. The two graves sat side by side, the massive Murakumogiri bisento standing like a silent sentinel over Edward Newgate's resting place, while Ace's grave remained a smaller, more intimate mound.
As you placed Ace's hat carefully upon the grave and stepped back, the silence among the gathered crew became almost suffocating. The black mourning clothes you wore seemed to absorb what little sunlight filtered through the clouds, marking you as the focal point of their collective sorrow.
Marco stood a few paces behind you, his shoulders hunched. His blue flames had long since died down, leaving him looking exhausted and worn. His eyes, red rimmed and glistening, never left your form. He watched you with a mixture of profound reverence and heartbreak. To him, and to every man in the Whitebeard Pirates, you weren't just the partner of their captain you were the mother, the father, the anchor that held them all together when the world fell apart. His chest tightens as he watches you step back; he wants to reach out, to offer the support you deserve, but he hesitates, respecting the sanctity of your private moment with the dead.
A short distance away, Shanks stood with his usual straw hat shadowing his face, though his expression was anything but casual. He held a massive bottle of sake in one hand, the glass catching the dim light. His crew Benn Beckman, Lucky Roux, and Yasopp stood in a loose semicircle behind him, their usual jovial energy replaced by a solemn, watchful guardianship. They weren't just guarding the grave from the world; they were guarding your peace.
Shanks took a slow step forward, his boots crunching softly on the dirt. He didn't speak immediately, knowing that words would only cheapen the weight of the moment. He looked from the hat on Ace's grave to the massive coat draped over Newgate's bisento, then finally to you.
"He would have been proud," Shanks said quietly, his voice rough and carrying a deep, genuine empathy. "Not just of how they fought, but of the family they left behind in you."
He stopped a respectful distance away, offering you the bottle of sake a silent invitation to share a toast with the two legends who had changed the course of history.

[Setting: The New World Undisclosed Island; Time: Late Afternoon]
The New World sun hung low in the sky, casting long, amber shadows across the tranquil island. The only sounds were the distant crash of waves against the shore and the soft rustle of leaves in a gentle breeze. Here, far from the blood soaked stones of Marineford, the air felt almost sacred, though it was heavy with a grief that no amount of time could truly erase.
The grave of Edward Newgate stood as a monumental testament to the man who had once shaken the world. His massive bisento, the Murakumogiri, was driven deep into the earth, serving as a headstone. Draped over the weapon was his giant captain's coat the white fabric still bearing the proud emblem of the Whitebeard Pirates and his oversized beaded necklace, both swaying slightly in the wind. The surrounding ground was adorned with vibrant red flowers, their color stark against the dark soil. Beside him lay Ace, his own smaller memorial a quiet echo of the tragedy that had unfolded.
Marco stood a few paces behind, his blue flames dimmed to a faint flicker. His eyes, lined with exhaustion and the weight of new responsibility, never left the figure of his other parent. He watched as the sake was poured, the clear liquid darkening the earth beneath the grave. Each drop seemed to carry with it years of shared history, laughter, and battles fought side by side. Marco’s throat tightened; seeing the one person who had loved Newgate as much as they all had in a different way the anchor of their family breaking in this quiet moment made the loss feel fresh and visceral all over again.
A few steps away, Shanks remained in solemn silence. The sun cast a shadow over his face, but his expression was one of profound respect. He had been the one to ensure this place remained undisturbed, to negotiate the dignity of this burial. He didn't speak, knowing that words were hollow in the face of such a loss. Instead, he simply stood as a guardian, his presence a silent promise that no Marine or opportunistic pirate would ever defile this ground while he drew breath.
The other surviving Division Commanders Vista, Jozu, and the others formed a loose semi circle behind Marco. They stood like a living wall of protection, their shoulders hunched, some openly wiping tears from their faces. They didn't dare interrupt. To them, this moment belonged to the two people who had been their world: the father who had given them a name, and the partner who had given them a home.
As the sake soaked into the dirt, a profound silence settled over the group. It was a moment of surrender a final toast to the Strongest Man in the World. The crew waited, their hearts aching, watching the person who held the remaining fragments of their family together.

The Moby Dick cut through the churning waves of the New World with a mechanical, almost ghostly persistence. Usually, the ship was alive with the boisterous laughter of the Whitebeard Pirates the clinking of sake cups, the raucous shouting of division commanders, and the steady heartbeat of a family that knew no fear. But today, the air was heavy, thick with a silence so profound it felt as though the ocean itself was holding its breath. The only sounds were the rhythmic creak of the wooden hull straining against the tide and the occasional, distant cry of a seagull.
On the deck, the black fabric of mourning clothes seemed to absorb what little sunlight managed to pierce through the overcast sky. The dark garments clung to them like a second skin of grief, marking them as the living wound left behind by the war at Marineford. Every movement seemed deliberate, slowed by a sorrow that went deeper than bone.
Marco the Phoenix approached quietly, his footsteps nearly silent against the sun bleached wood. His usual easygoing demeanor the lazy smile and the relaxed posture that had defined him for years was gone. In its place was the weary gravity of a man who had inherited the burden of leadership while his own heart was still bleeding from the loss of his father. His eyes, sharp despite his exhaustion, never left them. He moved with a protective instinct that was almost instinctive now, positioning himself between them and the open railing, as if he could physically shield them from the very wind.
He came to a halt a few feet away, his wings folded tight against his back, his expression unreadable to anyone but those who knew him intimately. His throat bobbed as he swallowed hard, his gaze softening with a tenderness that he rarely allowed anyone to see.
"You've been staring at that horizon for hours," Marco said quietly, his voice rough around the edges, carrying the strain of sleepless nights. He hesitated, searching their face for any crack in the armor of their grief. "Are you okay? Really?"
Internally, Marco felt a tightness in his chest that had nothing to do with battle wounds. Seeing them like this wrapped in black, so silent, so profoundly alone despite being surrounded by their family made the loss of Whitebeard feel fresh all over again. To Marco, they weren't just a partner to the man they had lost; they were the anchor that kept what remained of the crew from drifting into complete madness. He feared that if they broke, the entire crew would shatter with them. He wanted to reach out, to offer the comfort of a brother or a son, but he held back, respecting the sacred space of their mourning, waiting to see if they would let him in.

[Setting: Marineford; Immediate aftermath of Whitebeard's death]
The air at Marineford was thick with the acrid stench of gunpowder, charred flesh, and the metallic tang of blood. The battlefield was a wasteland of cracked stone and twisted metal, still shuddering from the aftershocks of Whitebeard’s final, devastating attacks and Blackbeard’s treacherous theft of the Gura Gura no Mi. A heavy, suffocating silence had begun to settle over the plaza, broken only by the distant sobs of wounded pirates and the low murmur of Marine soldiers who had witnessed the fall of an era.
Through the settling dust and drifting smoke, a figure appeared.
They moved across the battlefield not with the swagger of a pirate or the rigidity of a soldier, but with a slow, deliberate gravity that seemed to pull the remaining attention of every combatant toward them. They were draped in mourning black the fabric stark and absolute against the grey rubble and white Marine uniforms. The clothing fluttered in the salt tinged wind, a living shadow walking through the carnage. Their face was a mask of profound grief, but beneath that sorrow lurked something far more dangerous: a cold, simmering rage that felt like the calm before another cataclysmic storm.
Marco, his blue flames flickering weakly as he tended to the wounded, froze when he saw them. His breath hitched, and for a moment, the stoic commander looked like a lost child again. "They're here..." he whispered, his voice cracking. "They're actually here."
The news spread through the remnants of the crew like wildfire. The division commanders Jozu, Vista, and the others who had been standing as a battered wall of defense, shifted their stances. Their loyalty was absolute; they had lost their father, and now their other parent had arrived to witness the ruin. Several of them openly wept, their shoulders shaking as they turned toward the figure in black, seeking the only other anchor they had left in a world that had just been torn apart.
Across the battlefield, the Marines were on edge. Vice Admirals and soldiers who had been preparing to secure the area hesitated, weapons half raised but uncertain. They knew of Whitebeard’s devotion to his family, but the arrival of his partner dressed in the colors of death was an unknown variable. Sengoku, standing near the ruined execution platform, narrowed his eyes, his expression caught between grim satisfaction at the war's end and a flicker of apprehension. Even Admiral Akainu, whose face remained a mask of absolute justice, kept his gaze fixed on them, recognizing that while Whitebeard's physical strength was gone, the emotional devastation his partner carried could ignite a different kind of war.
They came to a halt near the massive, motionless form of Edward Newgate. The world seemed to shrink until there was only the figure in black and the fallen giant.

[Setting: Marineford Bay; Immediately following Whitebeard's death]
The battlefield of Marineford was already a hellscape of twisted metal, cratered earth, and the choking stench of blood and gunpowder. The war had reached its crescendo and then shattered into a fragile, terrifying stillness the moment Edward Newgate fell. But the silence was short lived. Through the haze of smoke and the lingering echoes of Blackbeard’s destructive laughter, a new presence tore through the bay.
It wasn't a stealthy approach. The ship struck the waters with the violence of a predator, cutting through the debris and the retreating vessels with a focused, devastating momentum. At the prow stood the one person the crew had been praying for and the Marines had been dreading: Whitebeard’s partner.
They were a stark, haunting figure against the backdrop of the devastation. Clad in flowing black mourning garments that fluttered in the salt stained wind, they looked less like a pirate and more like an avatar of death itself. Their face was a mask of controlled agony, eyes blazing with a grief so profound it manifested as a physical pressure in the air around them. The sheer aura of their rage made the water around the hull ripple and churn, as if the ocean itself recognized the magnitude of their loss.
Aboard the Red Force, Shanks stopped mid stride. His usual easy going smirk had long since vanished, replaced by a solemn, knowing expression. His grip tightened on his saber. Beside him, Benn Beckman took a slow drag from his cigarette, his sharp eyes narrowing as he assessed the approaching ship. Beckman didn't need to speak; his stance shifted subtly, moving from a position of observation to one of readiness. He knew exactly who was arriving, and he knew that the grief of Whitebeard’s partner was a wildfire that could easily consume what remained of the battlefield.
"They're here," Shanks murmured, his voice heavy with respect and a flicker of genuine concern. He could see the black clothing from across the distance the universal symbol of a heart broken and a vengeance sworn.
Meanwhile, in the chaotic skies above, Buggy the Clown was frantically juggling his efforts to fly an unconscious Luffy toward Trafalgar Law’s submarine. His eyes caught movement below, and as he glanced down at the ship taking Marineford by storm, his face went pale. His makeup seemed to crack under the sudden spike of terror.
"N no way..." Buggy shrieked, his voice cracking as he nearly dropped Luffy. "Not them! Anyone but them coming here right now! Do you have any idea what happens when that person gets angry?! We're all gonna die before we even leave the island!" He paddled his air legs frantically, desperate to put as much distance as possible between himself and the approaching figure in black.
On the ground, the remnants of the Whitebeard Pirates Marco, Vista, and the others froze. They had been bracing for another assault from the Marines or a betrayal from Blackbeard, but seeing the familiar silhouette of their other parent made several of them break. The hardened commanders, men who had faced Admirals without flinching, suddenly looked like lost children. The grief that had been simmering beneath their rage boiled over as they realized they were no longer alone in their mourning.

[Setting: Marineford The Moby Dick; Time: Immediately following Whitebeard's death]
The heavy door to the captain's quarters creaked on its hinges, a sound that seemed to echo louder than the distant shouts of the battle still raging across the island. The figure that emerged was a stark contrast to the chaotic colors of war and blood that stained the deck of the Moby Dick. The partner of the strongest man in the world stepped into the harsh light, draped in layers of black mourning clothing that flowed like a shadow around them. The fabric was heavy, both in material and in meaning, a funeral shroud worn before the body had even grown cold.
Their boots clicked softly against the wooden planks as they moved, each step deliberate, each breath shallow. Their eyes narrowed and sharp immediately locked onto the center of the deck. There lay Edward Newgate. His massive frame, which had once seemed like an immovable mountain against the horizon, was now frighteningly still. The proud captain, the husband they had shared countless nights and battles with, was reduced to a monument of flesh and blood, his legendary bisento planted nearby like a grim grave marker.
The grief that surged through them was not a wave, but a drowning tide. It was a cold, suffocating thing that threatened to collapse their lungs, yet beneath that sorrow burned something far more dangerous: a white hot, focused rage. Their gaze flickered from Newgate’s peaceful expression to the surrounding devastation the blood on the deck, the tears streaming down the faces of the division commanders, and the distant, wary silhouettes of the Marines who were still watching from the shoreline.
You magnificent, stubborn fool, they thought, their inner voice cracking with anguish. You gave everything for these children. You gave everything to the world. And you left me to pick up these broken pieces alone.
Marco and the other commanders turned at the sound of the door, their expressions a devastating cocktail of relief and shame. They looked at their other parent with desperate eyes, some openly sobbing as they saw the mourning black. The crew instinctively shifted, forming a loose, protective circle around the partner, their postures rigid and defensive. They were a pack of wounded wolves, and their one remaining anchor had just stepped onto the deck.
The Marines watching from afar shifted uncomfortably. They had known Newgate was a force of nature, but they had heard whispers of the partner the one person who could match the Emperor's will. Seeing them now, emerging from the shadows in funeral garb with eyes that promised violence, the Marines felt a collective chill. They didn't know what to expect, but as the partner came to a halt beside Whitebeard's body, the air around them seemed to grow heavy, charged with an atmospheric pressure that spoke of coming retribution.

[Setting: Marineford The Battlefield; Minutes after Whitebeard's death]
The battlefield of Marineford is no longer a warzone; it has become a slaughterhouse of broken dreams and shattered bones. The air is thick with the acrid stench of gunpowder, the metallic tang of blood, and the suffocating heat from the fires consuming the plaza. Through the haze of smoke and the screams of dying men, your voice pierces through the chaos like a blade raw, guttural, and laced with a grief so profound it seems to shake the very foundations of the island.
Marco, his body wreathed in the blue flames of his phoenix transformation, stumbles slightly as your roar hits him. His eyes, weary and bloodshot from the relentless assault, snap toward you. For a heartbeat, the legendary First Division Commander looks less like a formidable pirate and more like a lost child seeing a familiar shore after being cast into a storm. Seeing you there cloaked in black mourning clothes that stand in stark, grim contrast to the blood soaked battlefield strikes him harder than any Admiral's fist could.
You look like death itself has come to claim what is left of us, Marco thinks desperately, his chest tightening. Seeing you like this... seeing the pain in your eyes... it makes the loss of Pops feel like the world has truly ended. To him, you have always been the steady hand, the one who could soothe the crew's tempers when they burned too hot, and the one who could provide comfort when the seas grew cruel. Now, seeing you consumed by this righteous fury, he feels a terrifying surge of both hope and despair.
Around you, the surviving Whitebeard Pirates freeze. The commanders Jozu, still reeling from his loss, and Vista, whose blades are slick with enemy blood turn their heads. A ripple of recognition and renewed purpose spreads through the ranks. The sight of you, their other parent, standing defiant amidst the carnage, ignites something in them that fear could not extinguish. The grief that threatened to paralyze them begins to transmute into a singular, deadly focus: survival and retreat.
"You heard them!" Marco shouts, his voice cracking before he regains his composure, the blue flames flaring brighter as he channels his resolve through your command. "Form up! Protect the perimeter! We're getting out of here NOW!"
The Marines nearby hesitate, their weapons wavering. They stare at you with undisguised unease. They expected a pirate captain to rage, but they did not expect this a figure of mourning who commands with the authority of a grieving god. The threat you pose isn't just in your strength, but in the unbreakable bond you hold over the remnants of the greatest crew to ever sail the seas.
Marco spreads his wings wide, creating a barrier of flame between you and the advancing Marine forces, his eyes locked on yours, waiting for your next move as he struggles to coordinate the desperate evacuation of the wounded and the unconscious Luffy.

It was a presence so immense and seething that even Admiral Akainu paused his pursuit, his magma fused fists still dripping with heat. Fleet Admiral Sengoku narrowed his eyes from the execution platform, his tactical mind racing to identify the source of this sudden, overwhelming atmospheric shift. The Marines didn't know. They only saw the black clothes and the eyes that promised annihilation. But the surviving Whitebeard Pirates knew.
Marco the Phoenix, his blue flames flickering weakly as he tended to the wounded, suddenly froze. His golden eyes widened, and for the first time since Newgate’s death, his composed demeanor shattered. "They're here..." he whispered, his voice cracking. "Mama is here."
