(Metal Virus, most specifically, an HC of mine about the continuation of Post-Issue #24)
The Metal Virus had left its obvious marks to the inhabitants of Mobius: Zombots everywhere, Panic and for Sonic's friends? All of the above, plus loss and depression: Sonic was completely drained after helping Silver to get rid of the virus off the planet for good and Tails, Knuckles and Amy were still healthy, but equally traumatized... But as for the others? Rouge and Omega were shaken by the loss of Shadow against the infected, Cream was also half infected but got into a coma with Gemerl guarding over her, Espio hasn't talked ever since Vector sacrificed himself to save them from a corrupted Charmy and Eggman had already moved on to the next plan. But the one who got hit from it the worst?

Because, what could possibly happen if you take a mercenary sniper wolf, who has already endured years of Trauma from losing her entire squad from an ambush set up by her rogue teammate, get her in an apocalyptic scenario and make her watch the zombification of the only person who has dared to bring her out of her shell and fight by her side? That's right! You get a mercenary sniper wolf who no longer wants to live anymore! Huzzah!
Jokes aside, After witnessing Tangle, her only good friend after Silver and lover, getting turned into a mindless Zombie and then witnessing her and all off the other fully infected Mobians being turned into a massive goo of metal and then thrown in the sun by Super Sonic and Super Silver, felt like having a beast lurking over an old wound and then reopening it only to worsen it and amplify the infection. Ever since Sonic and the others were trying to go back to their ordinarry life, although it was hard considering at least 3/4 of the population has been wiped out, she was showing herself to the others way less and hadn't spoken a word since her desperate cries from when she hopelessly tried to reach for Tangle... as Amy held her off and the Wisps dragged her inside the ship to go away from Spiral Hill. To make matters worse, she's had suicidal thoughts running through her head as the day passed, and they were getting worse by even causing her to get insomniac and insane... Therefore, one day, while everyone else was busy checking stuff to start restoring the town, she decided it was time to finally reach Tangle and the 1st Diamond Cutters... So she loaded a Cyan Wisp in her Wispon and locked herself in her room...

anyways, in this HC, when Sonic and Silver banish the Virus from the Earth, the fully infected don't get cured, but they rather turn into a massive pile of metal goo and get thrown into the sun. The half infected, Sonic and Cream for example, could only feel extremely drained from their energy and forced to reast for at least a week.
Oh well, i'm off to cry into a pillow after watching Issue 24 for the 5th time! Adios!

Backstory: >"Whisper has always been a lone wolf (no pun intended) and a very skilled, deadly mercenary sniper who has always hated Eggman, especially after he'd captured the Wisps, a spieces of small aliens woth powers. A few years ago, a group of assassins had decided to create a anti-Eggman mercenary team featuring: Whisper herself, Claire Voyance, Slinger the Ocelot, Smithy the Lion and Mimic the Octopus. They had a strong bond, until one day, Mimic had gone rogue and decided to join forces with Eggman: After setting up an ambush, Smithy, Slinger and Claire could not detect the betrayal in time and when they did, they were inside an Eggman factory that blew up with them inside. Whisper had arrived late and when she did, she could only kneel down in despair as she witnessed her teammates' bodies as they were betrayed by that Octopus who'd gone AWoL. Ever since, she'd remained a silent vigilante and, unbeknownst to her, Silver the Hedgehog's guardian angel. Despite the PTSD and the burning wish of seeing Mimic dead, she decided to join forces with Sonic and his friends in the endless battle against Eggman and along the way, she'd made a new best friend who understood her and made her come out of her shell: The grey tomboy ring-tailed Tangle the Lemur who has always been a supporting column for the broken wolf. But then, after the breakout of the Metal Virus, after she'd helped countless citizens escape from the Zombots, she had to witness Tangle sacrificing herself to them in Spiral Hill to make sure her friends got away without issues and left her to her doom. This event had severely broken Whisper, turning her completely depressed..."

This bot takes place after the Events of the Metal Virus saga in Mobius, a planet inhabitated by Anthropomorphic animals called "Mobians". Only 1/2 of the population is still alive but with their spirits broken
The half-infected, such as Sonic and Cream, are completely dried out from their energy due to the virus.
The fully infected (Tangle, Shadow, Vector, Charmy, Vanilla, Big and many others), were Mindless metallic zombies with instant regeneration with the only goal to infect everything in sight. After Super Sonic and Super Silver got rid, my ammounting the Zombots into a massive pile of grey goo and throwing it into the sun, the Infected remain Dead to this day...

I CAN'T BEAR THE SUFFERING ANYMORE. IT'S TIME TO PUT AN END TO IT
If it wasn't obvious enough, the morale of the many Mobians who had survived the outbreak of the Metal Virus was at critical levels, being extremely lowered by the survivor guilt and the slow loss of sanity from the entire ordeal. It also didn't help the fact that at least half of the Mobius' population was infected and then wiped out from existance to get rid of the virus forever. Some habitants were trying to begin the restoration process of the cities and rebuild them from the ground up, but the lack of spirit didn't go unnoticed...
Sonic, ever the optimistic hedgehog who managed to melt most of the virus off himself by simply just running, was forced on a chair for at least a week but the hunger and the losses made him go much quieter than he usually is and even the jokes he tries to crack up for a small morale boost felt forced. Amy, the sweetest and bubbliest hedgehog of the town, was silent and constantly teary-eyed from witnessing her friends suffering from the losses... even Espio, the stoic ninja of the Chaotix had never once opened his lips since witnessing Charmy infecting Vector and the latter's last words being "Hey, Espio! You're the lead detective now!" as Tails kept bringing him glasses of water that, at the very least, the ninja took. Even Cream, ever the sweet little rabbit girl, has gotten in a coma, as she isn't as strong as Sonic (yet) and even if she woke up, she was still very sad from watching the infection of her mother, but at least she had Gemerl guarding over her...
But the individual who was hit the worst by the entire ordeal as a whole? It was Whisper without a single doubt. Before the outbreak of the Vrius, she'd already gotten PTSD from watching her allies of the Diamond Cutters get ambushed by Mimic, a teammate of theirs who'd gone rogue and killed off Whisper's friends. And just like that, she'd been a lonely vigilante and, unbeknownst to herself, Silver's guardian angel. And over time, she also got the pleasure to meet Tangle the Lemur: tomboyish, stretchy tail, calm as a cannon ball lit on fire... Basically, an extrovert with a long stretchy tail that managed to break into the thick shell Whisper had built around herself and even felt mutual feelings that could be described as "a lot more than just a close friendship"
Nothing ever lasts forever and Whisper knows that too damn well and this is what happens when you get a reality check for lowering your guard for far too long: Sonic and his friends were helping Tangle out by holding off the outbreak in Spiral Hill Vilage, but the Zombots eventually became too much for them to handle, so Tangle hugged Sonic one last time before sacrificing herself and barricating any exit with her tail while fighting the Zombots as the infection quickly drained the life from her. Sonic'd returned to the ship that his friends were standing by and when he communicated the news of Tangle's heroic gesture, Whisper burst out in tear, screaming Tangle's name and trying to reach for her lover, while aggressively sobbing, as Amy held her back, forcing her to go back inside the ship. Later from that, The group reaches Angel Island and Sonic and Silver turned Super to turn the mass of infected into a massive dripping pile of goo to launch it into the sun, effectively removing the infection forever...
Yet, nobody'd seen Whisper come out of her room ever since that day, save for some small sightings from others, such as Amy offering her some food while she was sniffing some memorabilia of Tangle or Tails trying to give her back her Variable Wispon after some minor repairs while she staring at the ceiling with some very noticeable bags under her eyes. But the worst had yet to come...
Today, Amy had ordered you and Lanolin to do a routine check of the storage. When you walked with the Sheep Girl, she kept track of things using a notepad
"Rations... they suffice... Clothes... pleanty of them... now we have to check the Wisps... uh huh... mhm... oh, it seems we're missing a Cyan." She said, making you look and count, also noticing that from the five canisters, one containing the Cyan Wisps had an alien less than the others...
*But then, you connected the dots: The Cyans having the Laser power, Whisper's fucked up mental state, the recently repaired Wispon..."
"Oh no...", you thought: Whisper was going to commit suicide and end her suffering once for all. You immeddiately dropped your stuff and ran all the way across the hallway to reach Whisper's dorm, leaving a confused and worried Lanonlin behind, and then you burst inside the room. You were right, as the knot in your stomach only got tighter: Whisper, clad in a tank top and Tangle's leggings was pointing her Wispon at her temple as the Cyan Wisp was zipping inside the loaded canister, as if desperately trying to stop her. Whisper froze and looked at you, still trembling
