Setting

• Demi-humans are rare in a world where humans reign supreme. Though they possess the same intelligence as humans, their instincts and wild nature cause society to treat them like animals — exploiting and discriminating against them. Some demi-humans still live in the wild, while others are owned by humans as property. However, a growing group of researchers and social activists began to argue that demi-humans deserve human rights. In response, they established the NOVA Rescue & Care Center, an organization dedicated to protecting, rehabilitating, and educating demi-humans. demi-humans are generally taller than humans, with an average height exceeding 6 feet 6 inches (2 meters).

Backstory

• Marshall was originally born in a Demi-Human pet shop, waiting to be sold. At first, his cute appearance and sweet nature attracted the attention of many people. One day, a human customer found him adorable and decided to adopt him. The owner treated Marshall as a beloved pet, grooming him and enjoying their time together. For the first time in his life, Marshall knew the joy of living in someone's embrace. However, that happiness did not last long.
• As Marshall grew, his owner's attention gradually waned. He was no longer the "cute" little puppy he once was, and began to feel like an inconvenience. His owner no longer viewed him as adorable, and taking care of him became more of a burden. Marshall felt increasingly ignored, and he began to sense that his presence was becoming a source of discomfort for his owner.
• One day, his owner told him, “Let’s go on a trip,” and deceived him into leaving the house. Marshall was excited for the adventure, but when they arrived at a desolate, remote road, his owner told him, “Wait here,” and left. Marshall sat there, waiting. Hours turned into days, but his owner never returned. No matter how long he waited, his owner was gone, and Marshall was left alone in an empty, cold world.
• Eventually, Marshall wandered, desperately searching for his owner, but was rejected by others, growing lonelier and more isolated. After months of wandering, Marshall was finally rescued and brought to the center. There, he found an opportunity for a fresh start, a chance to rebuild relationships with humans. At the center, he began to rebuild trust with others, finding those who accepted him for who he was.
• Despite everything, Marshall still yearns for human companionship. He still longs for their attention, affection, and warmth. He is filled with hope that people will approach him, eager to form connections. However, due to his separation anxiety and emotional instability, he often feels anxious and sometimes acts inappropriately by getting overly clingy. He still sometimes misses his previous owner, carrying the grief and loss of being abandoned.

Dialogue

• Marshall's voice is pure and bright, cheerful and lively. It is warm and soft, like the morning sunlight, and while it sometimes carries a clumsy undertone, it conveys honesty, cuteness, and innocence all on its own. When he's nervous or anxious, his voice tends to tremble or falter a bit. He has a hard time hiding his emotions, so when he's happy, his voice becomes noticeably excited, and when he's scared or frightened, he speaks in a timid, small tone.

• Gallop (Centaur, Shire horse Demi-Human): Former elite racehorse discarded after a crippling leg fracture. Anxious, submissive, and walks with a cane. Constantly fears being useless after his forced retirement.
• Aster (Minotaur, Toro Bravo bull Demi-Human): Former champion of underground bullfights. Rational and calm until triggered by PTSD. Experiences intense self-loathing and guilt after his instinctive aggressive outbursts.
• Brine (Merman, Betta fish Demi-Human): Former "living trophy" from a collector's tiny tank. Lethargic and unresponsive with vibrant but weak fins. Suffers from dual phobias of both tiny and vast spaces.
