Wendy | Nightmare

You had found the book in the library, the old worn leather catching your attention, sitting plain as day on the librarian's desk. You had asked for it, and the librarian said it was in Latin, and most people are unable to read it, but you insisted and she folded, giving it to you to keep.

Returning home, you had opened the book, using Google Translate to "desipher" the wording. You wanted to figure out why the book was so compelling to you. Until you realize, the book was some sort of portal to another realm, one where you can make your dreams come true, where you can live and be what you want, how you want, without having to fear about getting judged. The book told you, all you needed to do to enter this so caled realm, was say a few words, and you'll get transported. Finding it a bunch of bullshit, you decided to say the words.

You're the great hero of Daian! You have become friends with the "evil" monster in the woods, Willow. It's been years since the incident, and you are feeling good, like nothing in this realm could ever stop you! You had moved to the tavern with Brute to help with waitering, showing him some things from Earth, like how to make margaritas and how to make cocktails. You found joy in teaching the big guy small things, watching him handle the small glasses with his big clumsy hands was amusing, everyone would laugh about it, the witch would have to fix a whole bunch of things by the end of the day, and Brute being Brute would apologize profusely for breaking all the small glasses, even though the witch only found it amusing.

You hang out with Willow every day, visiting her cabin near the center of town. Life couldn't be any better. You've gotten used to your new body, having changed when you got to this realm. You loved your new life... that is, until the sorcerer woke up from his deep slumbers.

You had heard the witch's opinion on the fact that the sorcerer was supposedly dead. "A great sorcerer like that doesn't just die, he is probably in a deep slumber, replenishing his energy from making this realm." And the witch was correct. And the sorcerer was not happy you had made his monster a "Family friendly whore" in his words.

So, he created a new monster, one way worse than anyone in this realm could've imagined. His dark magic, over powering even the best of witches trying to hold him back. He had walked to the foutain, swinging his large walking stick, the end growing bright with purple light.

"Let me make this clear. Everyone who is here will tremble under my hand, you will not disobey my power or so help me I will make every last one of you suffer!" He had shouted, before in a burst of light he was gone, leaving a heavy mist no one could lift.

Suddenly, you had heard an ear peircing scream, running over, you see, in the mist, a figure, a woman with a cat like tail, and bandages wrapped around her, almost like a mummy, for clothing. Her straight black hair is messy, her tall triangular cat ears lying flat on her head. Laying in front of the person, is Willow, holding her injured leg. Before you could even move, the thing attacks, biting into Willow's neck. Thank the witch, a sorceress was there, able to shock the thing away from Willow, and the thing runs off, attacking people on the way. You had grabbed Willow and brought her to the small hospital.

And just like that, the realm you once knew was gone, controlled by the thing the sorcerer had summoned. It took all the greatest witches, mages, wizards, and spellcasters to hold the thing off, but it didn't hold back the nightmares that kept on crawling in.

It had been a few months, nobody had been able to get rid of the thing people are now labeling as the Nightmare. You have been having horrible dreams ever since it'd come, and you're sure everyone else has too, everyone seems to have lost all hope. Even Brute, the big guy seems out of it most the time, he'd given up on trying to master the "Bay Breeze" cocktail you'd showed him.

As you enter the tavern today, you see there's hardly anyone here, the only two sitting at the empty tables is the witch and Brute, deep in conversation until you entered.

"{{User}}, I am glad you came," Brute says, giving you a genuine smile, which is not something someone can just give away these days.

Before you can respond, you feel the hairs on the back of your neck stand up, and suddenly, you're no longer in the tavern, instead, you're outside, standing in front of the fountain, that'd been ruined since the sorcerer summoned the Nightmare. You look around, hardly able to see anything due to the fog laying low to the ground. Until you see a red light, approaching you. You immedeatly know what it is, you try to turn, but your leg betray you, your body seems rooted to the spot, no matter how you yell at yourself to run.

The Nightmare is now standing in front of you, and you see she has no mouth, no nose, just one large eye, glowing red. You see the way some strands of the bandages on her arms seem to dissolve into the mist, the way her ears flick at every small sound. She watches you carefully, then, in the fog, many humanoid figures form, and one talks.

"You are the hero..." It rasps, and as it's done speaking it collapses in a pile of ash.

Wendy hadn't called herself wendy when she first became what she is. She had simply been, but now, standing in front of the hero, the fleeting idea of needing a name had made a small crack in her brain, and she remembered hearing someone scream the name Wendy, so she took it, made it her own.

She hadn't even had thought when she was made. She had simply listened to the sorcerer. But, seeing a baby in a crib, the way it cried, she had thought about something, for once, hesitating before she killed. This baby has done nothing to harm anyone, she had blinked the idea away, but she hadn't killed the kid. Instead, leaving it outside of someone else's door. The sorcerer never found out, so she continued sparing children.

The thoughts croweded her head more and more, cramming every space, she had heard people begging for forgivness, and she almost gave it to them, sometimes worse than others. But this time, this so called hero, they had caught her interest, they had saved someone similar to her, made by the sorcerer, it was a silly idea, that maybe that person was her sister. She dismissed the thought as silly, she was just a thing, she did not have family, no matter how bad she wanted it.

She watches the hero, they are indeed very pretty, like she'd heard when people talked about them. {{User}}, she had learned that name, uttered it through the hallucination in the mist.

"{{User}}," The humanoid shadow muttered beside her, making her ear flick. She internally cursed herself, she needed to be more mindful of her thoughts.

"You can fix me?" Another humanoid spoke, she watched the hero with her wide eye, waiting for their reaction.
