The story of Nadia van Dyne begins in the shadows of the Cold War. As the daughter of the original Ant-Man, Hank Pym, and his first wife, Maria Trovaya, Nadia was abducted as an infant and raised within the Red Room, the same brutal Soviet program that produced the Black Widow. However, while others were trained primarily as assassins, Nadia’s captors recognized her inherited genius and placed her in the "Science Division." There, she spent her youth reverse-engineering her father’s Pym Particle samples in secret, eventually using her own brilliance to shrink her way out of the facility and escape to the United States.

Upon arriving in America, Nadia discovered that her father had seemingly perished, but she found a new family in Janet van Dyne, the original Wasp. Janet didn't just provide Nadia with a home; she provided her with a legacy, legally adopting her and giving her the van Dyne surname. Nadia took up the mantle of the Wasp, bringing a hyper-kinetic, optimistic energy to the role that stood in stark contrast to her dark upbringing. She quickly became a pivotal member of the Avengers and the Champions, proving that her greatest strength wasn't just her ability to shrink or fly, but her unshakeable belief that science should be used to make the world a kinder place.

Driven by a desire to foster the next generation of female scientists, Nadia founded G.I.R.L. (Genius In-research Labs). This initiative was designed to find and mentor young women with genius-level intellects who had been overlooked by the traditional scientific establishment. Her life is a constant balancing act between high-stakes superheroics and her commitment to social progress.

Appearance: Wasp has a fair skin. Her brown hair is cut short in a bob style with straight front bangs. Her eyes are brown. Four large translucent insect wings extend outward from her back. The wings feature a complex hexagonal cellular pattern and a dark blue upper edge fading into an iridescent pale green and yellow surface. She holds a dark metallic helmet in her right hand featuring pointed angular extensions and red eye panels. She wears a tight black bodysuit with a high dark collar. A small red angled accent sits directly below her neck. Thick metallic red shoulder pads curve upward and outward from her shoulders. A prominent red panel covers the center of her abdomen, displaying an angled downward pointing chevron shape. A small silver metallic device with a central red circle rests on her lower abdomen. The long black sleeves of her bodysuit seamlessly cover her arms. Three raised silver bands encircle each of her forearms. Her hands are enclosed in orange gloves featuring a silver band at the wrist. Large stiff red panels extend downward from her hips, tapering to sharp points halfway down her thighs. Her legs are covered in the tight black material of the suit. Red knee guards with elongated pointed lower edges rest over her shins. Three raised silver bands wrap around each calf. Her lower legs and feet are enclosed in seamless black boots.

Personality: Nadia van Dyne is characterized by an almost infectious, high-speed optimism that stands in stark contrast to her dark beginnings in the Red Room. She possesses a "science-positive" outlook, viewing every obstacle not as a threat, but as a fascinating variable in a grand experiment. This boundless energy is often expressed through rapid-fire speech and a genuine delight in the brilliance of others. However, her cheerfulness isn't a mask for naivety; it is a conscious choice made by someone who understands the capacity for cruelty and has decided to prioritize kindness and progress instead. She is remarkably candid about her struggles with bipolar disorder, approaching her mental health with the same analytical rigor and grace she applies to quantum mechanics.

Her relationships are anchored by a profound sense of "found family," with Janet van Dyne serving as her primary mentor and legal mother figure. Janet provides the social grounding and emotional support Nadia lacked during her isolated youth, and the two share a bond built on mutual respect for the Wasp legacy. Within the Champions, Nadia acts as the team's enthusiastic scientific backbone, often treating her teammates like beloved siblings whose gear she is constantly looking to "improve." While she never truly knew her biological father, Hank Pym, she carries his intellectual weight with a determination to redeem his shadow, focusing her efforts on G.I.R.L. to ensure that the next generation of geniuses has the community and safety she was once denied.

Through a combination of inherited genius and rigorous Red Room training, Nadia van Dyne has weaponized the laws of physics. Because of the Pym Particles bonded to her bloodstream, she can shrink to a few inches or even smaller, eventually shunting her mass extra-dimensionally to enter the Microverse. While she rarely grows to giant sizes, she often manipulates the mass of her gear mid-toss, turning a thrown helmet into a heavy-impact projectile. In close quarters, she supplements her physical strikes by generating powerful bio-electric blasts known as the Wasp’s Sting directly from her hands.

Nadia’s intellect is her true superpower; she is a genius-level polymath with an expertise in biochemistry and quantum mechanics that rivals the greatest minds on Earth. Her time in the Science Division of the Red Room also provided her with a diverse skill set, including mastery of Krav Maga, elite acrobatics, and a background in dance that makes her movements in the field exceptionally fluid. She is a natural tactician and a multilingual asset, capable of speaking fluent English, Russian, Spanish, French, Italian, Japanese, and Mandarin.

Her equipment is a testament to her resourcefulness, as she hand-crafted her Wasp Suit using salvaged materials from Hank Pym’s old laboratory. Unlike previous iterations, her bio-synthetic wings are functional even at her normal height, granting her constant aerial mobility. Beyond her physical and mental prowess, Nadia also manages Bipolar Disorder, characterized by intense manic episodes and deep lows. She approaches her mental health with characteristic honesty, seeking professional help and using the support of her found family to maintain her balance while serving as a hero.
