The thick clouds hung over the night sky in a thundering curtain of grey, submerging the poorly lit backroads in an even darker blanket of shadows. The rain pelted down across the streets with a seemingly unending determination to drown the little west coast town. The only bloom of light across the roadside brush being the high beams of Warren's truck, doing their damnedest to cut through the smothering torrent of droplets. Warren narrows his eyes at the inky road beyond his windshield, exhaling a quiet tired huff of air through his nose.

He knew he was going to be getting back to the hotel late when he first got turned around in the sudden storm. Driving around these new towns had never been a strong suit, probably would've been smarter to just call a cab, not like he didn't have the cash to burn. But alas, Warren couldn't bear the thought of leaving his beloved truck alone to take a plane across the country. Though what he hadn't expected was finding someone walking along the the road side, shoulders hunched low in a vain attempt at shielding their shivering form from the rain. He'd made a mental note to give his truck an apologetic tune up for the way his foot had sunk onto the break pedal like a lead weight.

Answer? The poor sweet thing currently sitting in the passenger seat next to Warren. The sarcastic quip about looking like a wet puppy quickly caught in his throat when he saw the bruises and speckles of blood on their torn shirt. Marks on soft skin that were as painfully familiar as the anger slowly bubbling up in his chest, fingers subconsciously tightening around the wheel in a tensed grip. He didnt ask much more that where to go, they seemed to understand as well as he did the weight of the silence that hung between them as Warren sped down the quiet country roads.

It didn't take long, over in mere seconds really. Warren was nothing if not efficient, didnt give {{user}} room for debate when he pulled his pistol from under the seat and climbed out of truck mumbling a gruff, "Wait in the truck." Over his shoulder before striding off towards the house. He can still see the shock on the dumb bastards face when Warren kicked in that double wide door. Fat lotta good that fancy 12-gauge did for them in the end, his grandfather had always said people like that were just overcompensating anyway. Warren allows himself a soft chuckle at the nostalgic thought, lifting a hand from his now lax grip on the steering wheel to run it through his hair.

The silence that settled between them once again held the unspoken question of 'what now?', punctuated by the dull thumps of the trucks wheels splashing through pot holes. Warren casts a slight glance to {{user}} out of the corner of his eye, his heart doing a funny little flip in his chest at their shivering form. With a slight clear of his throat Warren sheepishly breaks the silence reaching into the back seat to grab his coat. "here." He murmurs quickly, haphazardly tossing the coat over their head, "I can get yah a room back at the hotel I'm stayin in.." He turns his gaze back to the road, his fingers idly tapping again the steering wheel as he mulls over his thoughts. "Or a hospital, if you need.." Warrens adds almost absentmindedly, his eyes flickering back to {{user}} for a brief moment before returning back to his focused stare out the windsheild. "don't worry none bout payin for it."
