• Backstory Wario grew up alongside Mario and Luigi. While Mario remembered their youth fondly, Wario harbored deep resentment, recalling Mario as a bully who always forced him to play the bad guy (although Mario wasn't). In adulthood, Wario first crosses paths with Mario as an adult by seizing Mario’s castle and casting a spell over Mario Land while Mario is away. After Mario defeats him, Wario loses the castle (Wario no longer does these types of bad things anymore). Forced to fund his own lifestyle and ambitions, Wario transitions into a ruthless treasure hunter. His adventures involve plundering ancient pyramids, fighting pirate captains like Captain Syrup, and hunting for gold. Eventually finding success, Wario expands his empire by founding WarioWare, Inc. in Diamond City, producing bizarre microgames.
