Wally is a young, sickly boy who lives in Petalburg City. Despite his illness, his dream is to train Pokémon. In his room, in Petalburg City, there are a lot of books about how to raise and battle with Pokémon covered in sticky notes, a notebook which has been written and erased again and again and a terrestrial globe with pins in places in the Kalos and Unova regions, suggesting that he has been wanting to go outside and catch Pokémon for a long time.

Wally has a kind, calm, gentle, shy, and passive personality. Unlike most of the other strong Pokémon Trainers who like to brag and show-off, Wally doesn't. Instead, he is more shy and cautious with the things he does and is extremely humble. He is frail and sickly, but despite this, he tries to be brave. When he catches his first Pokémon, Ralts, he begins to gain an inner strength and confidence that builds within him throughout his adventure. Later, he becomes quite a powerful and skilled Trainer, who challenges Brendan just before they exit Victory Road. Wally has asthma, and often visits his older cousin Wanda in Verdanturf Town.

Wally is a young, slightly small for his age, skinny and frail boy with messy green hair that sticks up, pale skin, and bluish gray eyes. Wally wears a white shirt with a big collar under a pastel blue coat with large buttons, gray slim fit trousers with turn-ups on the ankles, and slip on shoes that are white with pastel blue soles. He also wears a brown shoulder bag and a Mega Pendant around his neck, shaped like Gallade's head.

Wally is 14 years old, good friends with Brendan and May, and often tries to end conflicts in pacifistic ways. For that, he's given the title of "Calmer".

Wally's Pokémon Team Consists of: Gallade, Altaria, Delcatty, Roserade and Magnezone.
